Michel Thomas (born Moniek (Moshe) Kroskof, February 3, 1914 – January 8, 2005) was a polyglot linguist, language teacher, and decorated war veteran. He survived imprisonment in several different Nazi concentration camps after serving in the Maquis (World War II) of the French Resistance and worked with the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps during World War II. After the war, Thomas emigrated to the United States, where he developed a language-teaching system known as the Michel Thomas Method. In 2004 he was awarded the Silver Star by the U.S. Army.

A great mini course on learning the basics of the French language.

I not only learned much, including a confident grasp of expressing myself in French and of being able to form and express my own thoughts in the language (rather than just repeating phrases learnt with little understanding of sentence structure etc). And all this whilst having great fun learning! It was so enjoyable and the girl on the cd's was struggling to click on so it made me feel I was doing really well haha!
Approx 8 hours isn't very long out of your life to learn something new.

An enjoyable, worthwhile learning experience! Recommended.

this is a newer edition than the one that I have. I think the French course is one of his better courses, though I do question his accent a bit. The only bad thing I can say about the Michel Thomas courses is that there is always one student who is slower and irritating. I can't handle the woman on here, she's really slow and and has a horrible accent that Michel doesn't correct! (for those unfamiliar with Michel Thomas, his courses are presented like you are the 3rd student in his classroom so you hear the other two "students" throughout.)

Man, this is cheesy as all hell, but if you're looking for an all-audio way to learn French GRAMMAR, this is the way to go. The best on the market, even if Michel always sounds like he smacking his lips when he speaks.
