What to do? What to do? Do I give it 2 stars? 2.5 stars? 3 stars? I think I'm going to have to go with 2.5--and that's all because of Brad! Brad--sadly, for me you were THE only redeeming quality for this book. This book was just not.for.me.

Let's start from the beginning....the title--Bullet. Could there have been a more appropriate name? It perfectly describes how I felt throughout the entire book...

Now for the characters....we have Valerie. Poor sweet, stupid virginal Valerie. I wanted to feel sorry for you, I really did...but I couldn't.

Valerie meets Ethan during college, she thinks he's cute and approaches him. They become fast friends. She loves him--he loves her (in some weird warped way) but they don't tell each other right away how they feel. Once they do, Ethan becomes the biggest douche bag on the planet.

He pretty much sleeps with anything that walks, claiming Valerie is too good for him. And Valerie continues to take him back over and over again! It was beyond annoying. And I hate cheating. Ethan was just awful....he honestly, had no redeeming qualities. But hey, let's get married and have a baby....because I almost died and you were the only person that stayed at the hospital day and night. What??

None of the story made sense....the fact that she was so virginal, yet was in to heavy metal. Her protective parents let her join this band and she rarely speaks to them ever again. I don't know.

This book was LONG. For it seemed to drag on and on. I get this was about growing and discovering who you are and what you want. But at what cost??

I know you're thinking, how could I even give it 2.5 stars but there were a few good things. Namely Brad and Jet/Clayton. Brad was Valerie's BFF. He was her rock. He was there for her all of the times that Ethan was not. It was obvious to everyone--except Valerie, of course--that she belonged with Brad. Too bad it took her the whole damn book to figure that out.

I can't tell you how many times I wanted to walk away from this book!

Lots of people liked this book....if you like cheating, emotional and physical abuse, drug use and all around stupidity on the part of both the main characters then I say go for it!

I was completely on the fence as to how rate this book. It was pretty slow in the beginning to the point that I entertained abandoning ship.

*Be fair warned, if you are an anti-cheating reader than this is not a book for you!*

Our main character Valerie starts her freshman semester in College where she rooms with an absolute wench named Charlotte. Valerie falls instantly in lust for a hot guy in her class named Ethan Richards. Val goes out of her way to sit next to him and pursue a relationship with him. To her disappointment, their relationship gets stuck in the friend zone...for a while.

Ethan and Valerie have a love for heavy metal music in common and she later meets his band. Each guy in the band is terrific, the only complete douche/loser is Ethan but our heroine is smitten so a reader is subjected to her terrible choices of ignoring a destructive array of woman and drug use.

Valerie is a poet and is later talked into become the bands lead singer and songwriter. She leaves college and tours with the band and this toxic relationship continues.

I have to mention that Valerie’s weakness for Ethan had me screaming and once again prepared to abandon ship. She is cheated on, she is beaten up, she is drugged and all the while she states that she loves him?

description

Yep, dumb decisions but sadly it’s realistic.

I haven’t mentioned Brad yet. Brad is perfection! He plays the guitar and is the leader of their group. He is completely in love with Valerie but wants her free from Ethan’s spell SO he is in the friend zone waiting for the day when she is free from Ethan.

There is also a hot guitar player named Clayton/Jet who is featured in some extremely hot scenes. He gives Valerie a taste of what a fantastic sexual relationship feels like with someone not strung out all the time and self-involved.

This book is told in present/past and I was frantic to see if she finally does what’s best for her and her son. She definitely needed a best girl friend from any of the other books that have read to shake some sense into her.

There is a HEA but for me it left a bittersweet taste in my mouth because it could have happen so many years beforehand, too little too late.

I maybe a glutton for punishment but I would like an extension of the epilogue or perhaps a book about the other band members or even Clayton/Jet yes he sure had my full attention.

This was a well told story and I did continue out of an odd sense of protectiveness for Valerie. Maybe I’m the girl friend she should have had all along!

I've been reading Jade's books for quite awhile now so when I was offered and ARC of Bullet I was all over that...It had ROCK STARS in it and the cover is SMOKING!!!!!!!!!! As soon as I started reading I was already........................................

This book is told from Valerie's POV! "Val" has left home to attend college! As most freshman entering college this is the first time she's ever been away from home. Val was raised by her two loving church going parents! She's had a stable home life albeit a bit "sheltered." Val is the first to admit that along with her naiveity! When she arrives at her dorm that first day she finds her roommate Charlene! Oh yes, Charlene! I knew from the first description of their encounter what I was going to feel for Charlene and I have to give props to Val for "trying." I think I would've done this....................

It's not long before Val notices a "HOT" guy in one of her classes! Yep, the hottest guy she's seen on campus thus far. Val comes up with an excuse to introduce herself to said guy and we are then introduced to Ethan!!! My first impression of Ethan had me...........

Well Val & Ethan have something in common and folks that's their love for heavy metal music! They become instant friends and start hanging out together! Ethan invites her to a show at and that's all she wrote!!!! When he admits to Val he's a guitarist in band, Bullet, he takes her back to his "hometown" and introduces her to the "GUYS." Okay when Val lays eyes on Brad, the other guitarist & lead singer, my first thoughts were HECK YES........oh another gorgeous creature!!! Dear Lord, I definitely would've...........................

The guys ask Val to sing a song while they are "jamming" and we learn that Val can SING! We also learn during this trip that when Ethan's playing guitar he's lost, completely, in his own world and he is unaware of anything/everything going on around him but really that's not a big deal to me it's the little glimpses we start getting of Ethan and what appears to be some "dark" secrets that sets the stage for the rest of the book. See even though Ethan & Val are really close friends Val also has fallen in love with Ethan but he doesn't know that! That left me a little.................................

But also hopeful because perhaps Ethan will notice. Ethan ends up taking another girl to a dance so Zane asks Val to go and after some hesitation and Zane telling Val that Ethan already asked someone else Val agrees. Well Ethan has NEVER seen Val all gussied up so his reaction was described as something like this............

Zane and Val go back to his dorm room after the dance and a little bit of this..........................................

goes down and once Val essentially puts a stop to it, she really only considers Zane a friend, guess who walks in? Yep, Ethan that's who. Guess who starts to give Val the cold-shoulder, Ethan that's who. Guess who pissed me off ~ Ethan that's who, lol! Remember Charlene? well don't forget about her okay? She is a piece of work and there was a part of the book where I wanted to ....................................

I think I gave you a little background information at least enough to get you going! I don't want to reveal too much with "words" cause I love to try and draw you in with how I was feeling while reading the book! I will tell you this Val finally finds the courage to admit things to Ethan and he has some notion she's too good for him since she is his "muse." They do start "dating" and well after a little bit the book made me do this (for the first time).............................

Val returns home at the end for her freshman year and ends up catching a show that Ethan and the guys in, . Val ends up being invited into the band by Brad and the rest of the guys as their lead singer! She accepts and the FUN begins!!!! Oh yes, you see this is where Jet/Clayton, a guitarist in another band, enters into Val's life after a little bit ;)

This book had parts where I was..............................

there was A LOT of this......................................

trust me that's a great thing! Of course, there was.................

Sadly Ethan seemed to spend more time.............................

I spent a lot of time doing this................................

as well as..............................................

and probably equal times being.................................

and the ending? Well the ending was FANFREAKINGTASTIC it was AWESOME it was EXACTLY the way this book needed to end! It HAD to end this way! I was so.........................................................

Jade has written a powerfully emotional story that will stay with you for a very long time after you have finished it! I finished it days ago and read plenty of books since and I still can't shake it from my thoughts! I had to "sit" on it before I did my review! I find that the more emotional a read is for me the more time I need to process my feelings. To say I LOVED this book is such an understatement!!!! I did laugh, I cried, man did I cry, I was angry, spitting mad, and I got to the end sat back in my chair for a second then looked at my two dogs, hopped up and was doing this........................................

This book was BEYOND 5 STARS for me! Jade thank you so much for knocking my socks off!!!! As soon as Bullet was released I purchased it! I had to OWN this one it definitely is a kick ass book! I recommend you purchase this one immediately and start reading it, but a word to the wise don't expect to be able to put it down so you better have some "free" time or expect NO sleep cause once you start there is no stopping!!!!!!

I had a hard time reading this one, I can't say I didn't like but I don't know if I liked it either. Val needed to grow a pair and tell Ethan to fuck off and this went on for about 95% of the story then finally she got her shit together. Would I recommend this book, only if you want to spend most of it wanting to punch something.

BOOK REVIEW: Bullet – Jade C Jamison

Are you Readdddddddddy…?
It’s time to throw up the horns ladies, as ‘Bullet’ is Hard Hitting, Hot Rockin,’ Body Slammin,’ Head Bangin,’ Mind-Blowingly Amazing and will ROCK your pants off!

I’m gushing. I’m hugging my kindle right now, beaming with what I can only describe as total pure book euphoria.

Have you ever read a book and just thought, ‘Wow, I feel like the author wrote this book just for me?’ Well… Bullet, for me, is that book!

There are two mainstay consistencies in my life, one is the love of reading, and two, is my total passion for Rock Music. Bullet incorporated everything I love, it hit every damn nerve – to put it simply, it rocked my world!

And, I will tell you why…

IT’S REAL! IT’S AUTHENTIC! AND TOTALLY BELIEVEABLE!

This isn’t just another’ Rock Star book; it symbolizes the strife, the struggles, the passion and full on intensity of life on the road. The Hunger and gruelling sacrifices of making something from nothing, when all you have is solid self-belief and friends who share a dream that reflects your own.

But first and foremost, it’s the tale of one young girl, Valerie Quinn, whose life took a new direction, the moment she stepped into History class as a freshman at college, when she set eyes on the most beautiful boy on campus, Ethan Richards – how her life went from an innocent, virginal, church going Christian, to a striving rock star as fate dealt it’s hand and everything in her life as she knew it, changed irrevocably. How one small-town girl was catapulted into partaking a journey of a lifetime.

And Holy leather hot pants of metal lovin’ doom, what an epic tale it was.

I can’t go into a synopsis, I just can’t do it, this is a journey you need to take on your own, but what I will say is this: ‘Keep an open mind.’ Because this isn’t just another ‘cheating’ book, regardless of what others may say, so please don’t be put off by it – this book is so much more!

Many of Valerie’s decisions were based on a need to find herself, and circumstances warranted those decisions at the time. Without that journey, the ending wouldn’t have made sense, so everything happens in this book for a reason. Trust me on this… Valerie’s naivety is endearing, and with all that testosterone thrown into the mix, I can’t say I blamed her for any of the scenarios that unfolded.

Ethan… be prepared to fall in and out of love with this guy, he got me in a complete and utter tizzy. I hated the way he treated our heroine, but I could also see why she fell for him. He is the embodiment of a ‘tortured soul’ and with her kind and loving heart she simply just tried to fix him. His toxicity a result of a past childhood tragedy, that nurtured an already self-destructive mindset.

”Rational or not, I loved Ethan. I knew it was stupid, but it didn’t matter. Stupid or not, I wanted him. Part of me knew he was damaged…deeply damaged…and I think that part of me also wanted to try to save him.”

But… It’s the best friend, Brad, and the almighty ROCK GOD that made this book pure magic for me in the form of Clayton/Jet, what can I say except I fell for this dude. Bigtime! Holy Hell, did I want to pull him out of my kindle!

”So, seriously… do I call you Clayton or Jet?”
He got a huge grin on his face. “Well, it depends.”
“On what?”
“Do you want me sweet or dirty?”
oh… wow.

”Oh Valerie,” he said, whispering, and I could almost believe it was just him and me again. He ran his fingers back through my hair at the temples. “I could make you feel like you were born to fly. I want to do that. I want to show you what you were made for.”

I’m a sucker for a gritty romance, especially when the writer invests the time to nurture and grow her characters, making them credible, with faults and traits that may not be of the angelic kind, but wow, was I bowed over. There are some real precious moments in this book that will simply just steal your breath away.

There are darker elements to this book too. Drugs, Sex, Infidelity, alcohol and physical abuse, and yes, some of it was a bitter pill to swallow. But again, it didn’t feel overly embellished, it still held that believability factor, especially the… uh, V-Card popping scene, not the nicest of moments but Jade C Jamison delivered it with honesty and dignity, with no orgasms in sight and a soreness for days. How many damn times have we read about the ‘perfect’ first time?! Yeah… Not happenin!’

I’m gushing like a groupie, I know this review probably shows it, but Fuck It, I may even take a moment to get in the front row and flash my boobs just to get my point across, that I.LOVED.THIS.BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!

Jade C Jamison knows how to deliver a rock star story with heart, and I’m hooked like a junkie. Encore lady… Encore!

5 Metal-riffic STARS.

Fans of Thoughtless/Effortless, The Mighty Storm and How to Kill a Rockstar may want to jump on this bad-boy. Seriously… READ IT!

I'm sorry but I did not love this book. I'm going to be the minority because of the way the end was written.

This was a 5 star read for most of the book. I really appreciate how much time the author took with this story. I loved that it took place over a long period of time. Loved that it was realistic. As I mentioned before this was a five star read until the end. It went from 5 to 2.

In this book we are put through the ringer. There are basically three men in Valerie's life. Ethan, Clay, and Brad.

Ethan. I felt no sympathy for him. He treated Val like shit.I know what it's like to be w./ an addict and in that sense felt a connection with Val. Yes, it was annoying that she kept going back but I know from first hand experience how hard it is to walk away. We read about Ethan for what felt like about 88-90% of the story.

Clay. Clay helps her find about a bit about herself and teaches how to be in a healthier relationship. We read about him for maybe 7-10%.

As I'm reading I keep checking the percentage. When I'm in the 80s- I'm getting scared. Where's Brad? This is the point in the story when things should be wrapping up. My friend said it has a HEA. 90%...nothing.91, 92, 93, 94, 95,96,97...98%. That's right, it wasn't until 98% that they finally got together.

Only 2% of Val and Brad's relationship. 2% of them really being together.

The end was just so rushed for me. I wanted to read about what they said to each other when they declared their feelings. About the first time they were together intimately after her marriage ended. I wanted to read about the strong woman she'd become. I wanted to read about Brad being her rock. The author took the time to be so detailed about everything else in the story that for the end to be rushed that way simply ruined the book for me.

Please don't get me wrong beside the rushed end- the writing is amazing. It was great story of self discovery and self growth. I loved reading about the life of an up and coming band. All this made the end all the more frustrating. I felt cheated.

Pros
-Clay/Jet, The Rock Idol with the sensitive heart.
-Brad, Brad, Brad, The Prince Charming, loyal and caring throughout the book.
-The end she finally woke up from this ordeal.
-Nick and Zane, they were nice.

3 Stars for Clay and Brad only.

Cons
-Val
-Ethan
-Ethan

-Ethan
-Ethan
-Ethan
-Ethan

O.K. you get the point. He was awful.I'm not gonna rant. He doesn't even deserve my hatred. I HATE him, period.
And Val is stupid.

VARIOUS THOUGHTS
-The chemistry Brad anb Val shared was so intense from the first moment.
-I would have given it only one star if it wasn't Clay's presence and of course Brad.
-I wanted to see Brad and Val's relationship from closer proximity not just have a glimpse at it.
-I liked the raw and low points of the characters that helped the book to be more realistic.
-Clay was thunderous and playfull.
-I liked that they had to work very hard to succeed, well Val and Brad actually did all the work, but still, nothing came easy for them.
-The final chapter was really nice.
-It bothers me that i have no idea how many years have passed.
-Many chapters felt tedious and irksome.

What did I just read?!

*me after reading this book*

then

Then...

Over reacting? Possibly. But I lost several hours of my life reading this book so I think I need to vent a little.

Val comes from a conservative family and is out on her own for the first time when she starts college. Her entire life she has followed the rules and has no problem doing so. At least, she did until she met with bad boy guitarist of Bullet, Ethan. And IMMEDIATELY, she is head over a*s in love. Not crushing or lusting. IN LOVE.

But does Ethan deserve that honor. To quote the late great Whitney Houston....."Hell to the no!" Because he is a rolling stone and Val is just along for the ride. He's not tortured or hurting that escapes by lashing out. He's just your average regular douche that happens to be hot. No panties were dropped during the consumption of this material. The book goes back and forth between the past and the present spanning the epic story of Val and Ethan (the author’s words, not mine).

I will grant that the story is epic all right. An epic train wreck.
And not in a good way. It seemed as if the author hated the FC and tried to devise as many ways to kick the dog while its down as much as possible. Just for the sake of angst.

Val….Val….Val….. Apparently along with your ovaries your brain also imploded when you met Ethan. Because no matter how badly Ethan treats Val, she comes running back for more. Not in an interesting/tragic way. More in the way of….

Just an example of how the girl is not wired correctly. Here is a sample of her internal monologue:

Holy shit. There was still some weird magnetism vibrating between us, as though no time had passed since I’d last seen him. I realized at that moment that I felt more sexual attraction for Brad than I’d ever felt for any other guy on the planet, including Ethan.

(Sooooo...... why don't you go with Brad since you are attracted to him more than Ethan?) Because.....just because all right?!

In a nutshell, the book is mostly comprised of Val's internal monologue (with a not-so-bright conversation partner). The story itself is centered around a really weak a*s heroine and how she makes an uncanny impression of a door mat. Not only does she insta-loves Ethan, she insta-lusts everyone else she comes in contact with:
a) Brad the lead guitarist
b) Clay the lead singer for another band
c) the bass player of Bullet whose name I can’t remember right now

Oh. And they lust right back at her. Every. Single. One.

For some reason it’s irritating to me when the author makes the FC so irresistible to ALL the males in the novel. What is this? Animal Planet? She must be giving off some potent pheromones. (I want me some of that. Where can I get it? The internet?)

And?!
No matter what Ethan throws at her, she takes it. She makes the token effort to tell him off and walk out on him. But a few days, weeks, months later he just asks for her back and she skips right back to him. Ugggh!
This is not a story about an abused girl who cannot leave her tormentor. It was more like…

Here’s the plot in a nutshell. Etc...etc...etc...

Writing: Not badly written. But the content was. The FC's internal monologue makes me want to massage my brain.

Characters: Shoot her! Shoooot her! *using the voice of that Austrailian hunter guy in the first Jurassic Park*

Recommend: as a torture device or for an after school special (See girls? This is how NOT to behave in a relationship)

When I first wrote my review I had just finished bullet, but now that the smoke and adrenaline has cleared.. It's a good book and seemed like it a "thoughtless meets BD" type book but now I see many flaws that weighed my love down such as the time it took for Brad and her to get together. I mean it took about 90% of the book just for her to get over asshat Ethan. Which is just unnecessary. Also I felt so incredibly frustrated with this book during my re-read. I guess you always get a clear picture after you take a second look. The redeeming quality is Brad and Jet. The only two things I loved about it.

- - parts from original review
Now I knew who I was rooting for the moment he stepped on the scene and their duet solidified it. I may have got a little turned around with Clay/Jet but... That man! Whew! As I was saying before I had a momentary hot flash, I LOVED who she ended up with!

"What is it about you
That makes me weak in the knees?
You're the only one on this earth
Never needs to say please.

But you know my weakness.
Know where I hide my soul.
Yet you kept me safe
And you made me whole.
You made me whole."

My feelings on the romance: Ethan. Brad. Clay/Jet.

To conclude, good but not as fabulous as I first thought. No doubt that the story of Val is good but the plot only went so far and my one major dislike became MAJOR. Otherwise a great book with a sweet and well deserved but way late ending.

4.5 stars!!!!

It was a bit of a slow start but once it got going, jeesh did it go! Val annoyed the crap out of me at the beginning but as the book went on, I was glad to have my opinion completely change! I was so happy with the ending and I love that the author went with something that wasn't entirely expected. Very different take on the HEA. Highly recommend.

This is no fairy tale romance. There are no hearts and flowers. This is a rock star romance with sex drugs and heavy metal.

I loved him, though, and poison or not, I couldn’t turn him away

Ethan had once said that he never wanted me to hate him. Well, if that were true, he shouldn’t have asked for it.

Val is a goodie virgin. She listens to her parents, doesn’t drink and has never used drugs. Ethan is everything opposite of Val, tattoos and all.

This is their story.

Be prepared for, tons of hook-ups, partying, drinking, drug usage, angst, intense sexual tension, fighting, crying and jaw-dropping, throw-your-e-reader-against-the-wall, hair-pulling-out CRAZY MOMENTS!

…. I know I need a breather too.

The beginning starts with the end. Val is with Ethan in the future and then we are flashed back to how they got together. Mostly this is what Bullet is about, Val and Ethan’s relationship.

Bullet.Is.No.Easy.Ride.

Oh, I don’t think you’re prude, val. You just haven’t met your drug of choice, and you definitely haven’t met the right guy

I liked Val, I thought she was an interesting Heroine and it was nice to see her grow and mature throughout the read. But damn, that girl got around! She hooks up with guy after guy after guy. I guess that’s what happens when you like a guy who is in a heavy metal band with 3 other sexy dudes. Usually this would bother me, but it was interesting to see how Val reacts to each person and what she learns from each relationship/hook-up. I really did feel like she owned her own skin in the end.

Now, Ethan. Oh Boy. Where do I begin?! Ethan is an anti-Hero. You will want to reach into your eReader and punch him in the face… multiple times. I get it, he’s sexy, he knows how to play guitar, he has Daddy issues, loves to drink, do drugs and have sex with many woman. However, there’s some redeeming moments I found in Ethan and it gives you a glimpse of hope that there is a future for them.

I can honestly say Bullet makes me as a reader go out of my comfort zone. Yes, I like hearts and flowers, yes I like swoony moments and yes I want my Hero to be virtually perfect, so you see how Bullet put me on edge. Let’s just say I am more pop than heavy metal, HOWE VER, I appreciate the complexity of Bullet.

Bullet is Raw, Gritty, and Dirty

If you like crazy love stories with shocking after shocking moments then Bullet is for you (and I know many of you readers love those kind of reads).

Also, If you are anything like me, you need your HEA and you will get that in Bullet, you may just have to a take Valium or two before you get there.

An ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

Half way through with reading this I was at the stage of wanting to bitch slap Val and not keep reading the book as she was starting to get on my nerves, but I'm glad I persevered, I some how found myself falling in love with this book and rooting for her to get over that scum bag Ethan and see the guy right in front of her eyes, just waiting in the background..Loved it!! Was a bit drawn out but sitting back and thinking about it, it wouldn't have worked any other way, what more can I say but that I loved it!!

Valerie Quinn is a college freshman. Shes had little experience with guys so when she meets on-the-rise rock star and fellow student Ethan Richards, he’s instantly captured her heart.

But there is something about Ethan. Something damaged him from his childhood that he’s held onto all these years and Valerie tries to help him, eventually breaking down his walls. But when Valerie gives herself completely to him, that’s when she discovers he may be beyond help.

She’s determined to try and help Ethan and rebuild their relationship but Ethan is toxic and is leading towards a road of self-destruct. Down a road where it may be hard for Valerie to save him and save herself in the long haul.

Bullet begins in the present. I’m not going to tell you who Valerie is with, but it sets you up with the beginning of Val’s story and how she got to this point in the first place. The chapters are divided into past and present –more past than present but no less important as the present makes you think back over the past ‘past’ chapters to really see how she became to person she is now, in the present.

We meet Valerie in the ‘present’ as I’ve mentioned and shes got some huge news to share. She seems grown-up, mature and in love. When Jade introduces us to Valerie in the ‘past’, shes a virgin, she’s naive to all things sexual, but that’s only because of her up-bringing but she’s far from shy. She finds it easy to make friends.

The first real friend we see her make is Ethan. He’s in one of her classes and she decides that next class shes going to talk to him. I loved how they both had a passion for metal music, thus starting the beginning of their friendship. Although she only really hung out during class and their walk back to their dorms, they became friends fast and I found it refreshing that Val had someone with a common interest, unlike her bitchy roommate Charlotte, who I instantly took a dislike to.

Throughout her journey in the first year of college, she becomes closer to Ethan and his roommate/band member Zane and also becomes friends with the other two members of his band, who live back at home, Brad and Nick. They all welcomed her to their ’group’ with open arms. They cared about her.

The more time they all spent together, the more Val knew she wanted to be in their group and not return to college. She didn’t know what she wanted to major in, so she really thought there would be no point staying. Their group dynamic changed and I loved that having a girl in the band who also wrote the lyrics to their songs made them become even more popular than they were. It worked because she put so much effort and passion into making them work.

I thoroughly enjoyed the journey we had with Val and the band members. You see Valerie as an inexperienced, naive young woman who is hung up on her best friend – Ethan, bypassing any other guy who looks her way. Although she kind of knows they look at her, all she wants is Ethan. Over the course of the book, she grows up a lot, she grows into her sexuality, knowing how to flaunt it and use it and she seems to enjoy the fact that she’s matured and can hold her own around guys and on stage too, with engaging the audience. I loved reading her grow, albeit going back to Ethan all the time annoyed the heck out of me, but in between with the romances with Clay/Jet who was in another band that they toured with let her experience even more with her sexuality.

Clay/Jet was a few years older than Val and the boys. What I loved about him was that he had two different personas. Clay was the sweet, caring guy, who would cuddle you and Jet was his persona on stage and in bed. He’d make sure you had a great time in bed. After everything he and Val went through, I think the outcome for both of them was the right path to choose. Even if she did go back to Ethan once again.
I really liked Ethan at the start when we first meet him. He seems like a cool kid, someone who really cares for Val but won’t admit it, in turn staying true to his womanizing ways, which seems to hurt Val. He seemed jealous when guys gave her attention but he never did anything to prove his feelings to her. It was like he didn’t know how to, or he didn’t want to destroy her ‘purity’. She was his muse and he didn’t want to change that.

Throughout the years they spend together, either together or just as a band, I despised him bit by bit over his hurtful and painful actions towards Val. He didn’t know a good thing if it hit him in the face and it was like he was bi-polar. I had no idea what he was going to do. Drugs and alcohol seemed to be his void over his past but he just always took it too far, causing pain not only to Val but to Brad as well. All the things he did to Val over the course of the book, well I just wanted to punch him. Val loved him with everything and he put her through so much that she just didn’t know if she could handle that pain again.

There were parts when I thought he would change, but he never did. He’d change for a while then retreat back to his asshole state. I thought Valerie was so stupid for taking him back all the time, it got me so frustrated that I was shouting at her through my Kindle. I wanted her to say ‘Fuck you’ and stand up for herself when he acted like a douchebag. Although there are times she did say ‘fuck you’ to him, I suppose she kept going back because she thought he truly would change and she was so deeply in love with him that she just brushed over everything he did when he showed her some affection. He really was toxic.

Now Brad. I LOVE HIM!! I’d love to have him for myself please. He was such a sweetheart. The first time we meet him it’s obvious he and Val share this connection. She knows it and so does he but she’s hung up on Ethan and she tries to forget about it. He tells her that he knows she likes Ethan so nothing will happen while that card is on the table. I loved him for that because he was respecting her.

He was a worrier and really cared about the band when no one else seemed to give a rats arse about it. He was literally their band manager, tour manager; driver and he wrote music/lyrics, had a job so they could afford to live and drove to their concerts. I loved his dedication for the band, wanting to make them noticed so they could get signed. Music was his life and all he wanted to do and I really admired him that he was so passionate about following his dreams.

He and Val had a close friendship, even though there was some sort of sexual chemistry between them but he swore that he wouldn’t go there (again). He worried about her relationship with Ethan because of the toxicity that is Ethan, who was damaging her poor heart over his actions. Brad was the guy that Val should be with not Ethan!

Ohhh the ending! this was the perfect way to end such an amazing book as Bullet.

Jade has done it once again and drawn me into the story of Valerie, much like she has with her other books and she makes it so hard to put her books down and actually get some sleep! It is longer than her other books, but it’s no less important or drawn out for the sake of it, no! it’s captivating and you really become engrossed in the plot and with the characters.

I’d like to thank Jade for sending me an ARC copy of Bullet. She’s such a brilliant person and author, so if you haven’t read any of her books – boo at you! Please download them or read my reviews under Jade C. Jamison in the category box, because her books will leave you wanting more.

NOW, if you’re looking for smoking hot Rockstars, smoking hot sex, love triangles and a metal rock band then Bullet will be and is the book for you. It’s about growing up, finding love, dealing with damaged souls, succeeding and finding true happiness. PLEASE buy this e-book when it comes out because you will be obsessed with the characters and story right from the beginning.

Valerie meets Ethan in class and she instantly falls in love with him. It’s a bit cliché the whole virgin-bad boy thing and overused but that’s a minor detail. In my mind maybe it would have worked better if she was already edgier, more rebel but then again she wouldn’t be such a pushover later which is the main focus of the story.

In time, they become friends, the both love heavy metal (which I’m not a fan of, I was hoping they would be a rock band but whatever, it’s not like we can hear the music), and he introduces her to his band. Each of the guys is wonderful, even though they are man-whores, but Ethan is the only douche. Then she embarks on a journey with them that surely is every parent's worst nightmare.

Ethan is constantly cheating on her, using drugs, partying and abusing her several times. I kept thinking that she is the most shallow person because she must have only looked at him based on his looks, really there is no other explanation as to why she fell in love with him in the first place. Such a toxic relationship.

I wanted to reach into my phone and punch Ethan in his face and kick him in his jewels. Even when he has some redeeming moments, I can’t really appreciate them because the bull**** out-weight them. He hates his father for what he did to his mother yet instead of being better, he does the same with Val. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Brad on the other hand…he is Ethan’s best friend, he is the only responsible, he is basically the leader of the group. He is also completely in love with Valerie, and he remains in the friend-zone waiting for her to finally open her eyes.

There is also a guy named Clayton/Jet with whom we have some extremely hot scenes and whom I really like if only for his ability to make Valerie open her eyes and for a little while.

Ι really didn’t relate with any of the characters or their problems, especially with Valerie. Ok, the others have lifes a bit too extreme for plain, normal me.

I had the biggest issue with how Valerie deals with things. Ethan doesn’t have many lovable characteristics, to begin with, besides his beautiful-bad boy-ness so I couldn’t really understand why she fell in love with him. I understand sexual attraction, but after getting to know him how do you fall in love with him? Especially when someone like Brad is hitting on you.
She behaves so immaturely. She clings to Ethan even though she knows he isn't totally invested and keeps pushing away Brad with whom she knows that there will be no problems because they both like each other equally and who not only is but also behaves like a man.

I have been cheated on by a boy that I was deeply in love with. I broke up with him even though it pained me and I was for a week closed in my room crying. He asked for a second chance and I gave it to him and a month later I learned he did it again. So I broke up with him again and never gave him a third chance.
What I’m trying to say is that even though I had feelings for him, he didn’t respect me and he wasn’t truthful and loyal, so I had to let him go for my own sake. I wouldn’t mind him flirting because that’s something I do as well even in a relationship, it’s good for your ego but there is no touching involved. She should have broken up with him and try to get over him. It wouldn’t be easy but it is manageable with the right determination.

The story is told in past and present. I'm not usually a big fan because it spoils the future, you kind of wait for the inevitable to happen and the writing style was satisfactory.

Overall, this is no ordinary romance and that’s what intrigued me. The book is full of hookups, partying, drinking, drug use, sex, fighting and need-to-punch-Ethan-in-the-privates moments. It’s complex and dark.

The ending had me yelling “yes! YEEEEEEEEES!”

IT PISSED ME OFF, Ethan is a douche, Val is stupid, Brad is perfect, Clayton/Jet is wonderful and it deserves the 3 stars.

Can’t wait to read the second.

I have a huge soft spot in my heart for heavy metal music and band stories. True confession: I was a rocker chick in the 1980’s in New Jersey. At any given moment you could find me with a can of AquaNet hairspray or drum sticks in either hand. Fellow music lover, Jade C. Jamison’s latest and greatest book Bullet, is one of the most twisted, stomach churning, rock romance stories out there. Her characters will surely haunt me for a long time.

Super naïve Valerie is a college freshman at a school in Colorado. Valerie meets and becomes friends with Ethan…a fellow metal head and classmate. Ethan is in a band with a few classmates and friends from home who are determined to make it in the music industry. Ethan introduces Valerie to his band mates and together discovers that Valerie can not only sing like a heavy metal goddess but she can write songs. Shy and innocent Valerie is asked to join the band. Valerie falls for Ethan…and loses her virginity to him one night in a sleazy motel room while the band is on tour. Valerie starts to slowly descend into a world of sex, drugs and rock on the road. Quickly we learn that Ethan is one of the world’s biggest douche bags. While claiming to be in love with Valerie, he openly cheats on her, lies and treats her like a piece of garbage. Ethan goes as far as drugging Valerie and tries to engage her in an unwanted sexual tryst with some groupie whore he picked up. On the rare occasion that Ethan is sober and “realizes” he screwed up -- he pledges his undying love and asks for forgiveness to get back Valerie’s bed. There were times that I felt like I could drop kick Valerie for taking him back or making excuses for his hellacious behavior. Valerie ends up in a few other relationships and also falls for her band mate, Brad. I’m going to remain spoiler free here and just say this story takes you one hell of an emotional roller coaster. Ethan’s self-destructive behavior makes him a ticking time bomb and hopefully Valerie won’t end up as collateral damage in his rock and roll fantasy.

Jade C. Jamison can really tell a really tell one hell of a story. The plot cleverly unravels by switching from past to present without skipping a beat. Some reviews have said Bullet is long. It didn’t feel long to me since I found myself glued to this page turner. Ethan and Valerie’s frustrating relationship will get under your skin and will stick with you. If you enjoy Ginger Voight’s Groupie series you should pick up Bullet. This book is cliffhanger hanger free. If you love bad boy rock star books…this one is not to miss. Four and a half heavy metal stars!!

i received this book for an honest review from the author and honest you shall get!!!

I am sitting here at my computer sobbing, literally sobbing over this book. I went through a box of tissues and a packet of tums. IN-FREAKING-TENSE was this book.

I am a fan of really emotional, gut wrenching, tear your heart out and stomp on it while it lays on the floor kinda books!! This book sooooooo qualifies.

Val is such an amazing person who is so giving and loving but seems to be stuck in the ever emotional toxic love of Ethan. Ethan is just a true measure of addiction and doesn't appreciate Val for all she is worth. His idea of "chasing her" is screwing everything else that has a skirt on or getting so high he cant even function. This is pretty much their relationship but the addiction continues to get worse and worse as does his behavior and attitude toward her. I think the author did a great job showing the true relationship of a couple when addiction is involved. It is heart wrenching that Ethan has had emotional and physically abusive relationships but he is so self involved he has no idea he is doing the same thing to Val.

There were a few scenes where I broke for Val when she was confronted by Ethan's wondering ways. I feared for her because she knows in her heart he is not a "good person" but the party scene absolutely crushed me along with her. I think, like Val, i wanted him to have some redeeming qualities.....but the party killed me. I broke for her and me at that point. Then I broke for the man I wanted to see Val with. The man who loved her, supported and cared for her even though she was stuck in this web of Ethan lies and betrayal.

Well along the way Val does develop some emotionally sustaining and loving relationships. SOME of the "relationships" I was like "you go girl!!" I loved the men who helped her through tough times with Ethan. However no matter what, she would always return to Ethan. This dance goes on for a few years.

I am not going to talk specifics because I will totally end up giving away the whole story BUT if you love rocker books and you love emotionally raw "real" books then this is the book for you. seriously. i cannot wait to read the books for the other band members!!!!

This book started off a bit slow for me. But by 50% in I was sucked into the story. There were many times I wanted to smack Val. I did not like Ethan at all. He never appealed to me and treated Val like crap. Clay was so fun ;) But Brad is the hero to me! Very pleased with the ending and glad Val finally got it right. Good story that will have you yelling at the characters and frustrated but one that you will want to finish.

Bullet by Jade C. Jamison is NOT your typical rock star romance novel. I was expecting a sweet story of an innocent virgin college student meeting a musician, falling in love and living a happily ever after. That is definitely not what Bullet is. It’s an emotional roller coaster of love, relationships, drug abuse, and a young woman discovering herself.

Valerie is an 18 years-old living away from her conservative parents for the first time at college. Shy Valerie meets musician/bad boy Ethan in class and the two become friends, though Valerie wants more. Ethan introduces Valerie to his band mates and the five of them instantly become friends and click together. Brad is Ethan’s best friend and is also the “manager” of the group. He keeps the band going, arranges shows, and is the only one who is responsible. Over time Valerie joins the band as their lead singer. Ethan & Valerie form a relationship; if you can even call it that… Ethan is constantly cheating on Valerie and his drug use becomes a problem. Bullet revolves around Ethan and Valerie’s relationship starting from when they first met in college to where the two end up years later and everything that happened in-between.

The book begins in present time, you learn right away Ethan and Valerie are married and she is telling him she is pregnant but scared to tell him… that is how you know their marriage is rocky. The book is mostly in past tense from the time the two meet to right before their band makes it big with but then have a chapter of present time and the final ending. At first I did not like knowing Ethan and Valerie were married, I felt like it ruined the story knowing but after finishing the book I was glad I did because it made the final ending so much better. You will have to read it to understand why… :)

Ethan and Valerie were written wonderful and I felt like I really knew the characters. I will be honest and tell you I did not like Ethan AT ALL. I just knew he was trouble and I kept waiting for his character to turn around. I was latterly yelling at my book each time Valerie made the wrong choice and stayed with Ethan who completely dragged her along for years emotionally abusing her, cheating on her, and letting his drug use interfere with both their lives. Brad, he was the real man in this novel. He first started having feelings for Valerie the moment he met her but Ethan was always in the way. There were times of the book I just didn’t want to keep reading because of the decisions Valerie was making made me so upset. I just wanted her and Brad to be together so badly, I kept hoping each time I turned the page it would happen for those two.

The ending is what made the book go from a 3.5 star to straight 4 star review. Bullet is not a sappy romance novel about a good girl falling in love with a bad boy, changing him and being happy. It’s a dark novel that is realistic. I appreciated the author not trying to please each reader by making it real.

I give Bullet 4 Stars

** I received a copy of Bullet from the author in exchange for an honest review. **

5 Conflicted Stars

"But you're the rainbow I can't touch. The forbidden fruit I want so much. Just one taste, one night together would help me endure the rest forever."
I LOVE books about rock stars, but this one had me wanting to freaking throw my iPad up against the wall. First off, if you hate books about cheating then you're probably not going to like this one. The cheating was one of the things that had me conflicted. With that said, to me Bullet portrays what I feel the "real" rock star life is with all the drinking, drugs and cheating. Valerie meets Ethan her freshman year at college. She's the virginal goody two-shoes that just so happens to fall for bad boy Ethan who plays guitar in a band. Unfortunately, Ethan just treats her like a friend and he's the only one who doesn't see that Val is in love with him. One weekend Ethan takes Val home to meet the rest of the band members who are Nick, Zane, and Brad. But when she meets Brad there is an instant attraction between the two of them, an animal magnetism but she fights it.
"I know you're into Ethan, and as long as you are, nothing's gonna happen between us. But I want you to know I'll wait." ~Brad
Oh. My. God. Brad just melted my heart. He was sexy, and sweet, and truly cared not just about Val but all the band members. After some time Val ends up joining their metal band as their lead singer... And man does she rock. But for some reason she's hung up on the douchbag Ethan. Another reason I was conflicted was because all of the crap she put up with from Ethan. Granted, Ethan had some issues he was dealing with but still I just wanted to slap the shit out of her. Not only does she have Brad who wants her but she also has this other great, sexy guy who plays guitar with another band named Clay/Jet who wants her too. But no, she keeps running back to Ethan who is on every drug known to man and constantly fucking around on her.

Now, the question is... Does Ethan ever grow up and change his ways and prove his love for Val? Does Brad or Clay/Jet finally steal her heart away and they live HEA? Do any of the bands get a record deal and make the big time becoming major rock stars? Well those are questions you'll just have to find the answers to by reading the book yourself. I personally think that it's worth all the angst, frustration, cheating and drugs to find out. :)

What a ride!!! I just finished this book and I don't want it to stop! So many emotions! Some were incredibly wonderful and some were frustrating as hell, and I absolutely felt them all!

Val and Ethan are some of the most frustrating characters I've ever read- most likely because I made some of the same mistakes they did, when I was young and stupid. Lol! It was hard to relive some of those emotions and see the mistakes they made over and over again. There were even times when I wanted to throw my kindle across the room, but I was addicted to this story and couldn't stop reading!!!!

You are SURE to fall in love with the secondary characters!! They are what make the story bearable at times!!! Brad, Zane, Nick, and ohhhhh, that Jet!! (I am chomping at the bit to get Jet's story!) ALL of these men are sexy rock stars and do not disappoint in any way, shape, or form. ;)

If you are fan of rock stars and all the good, the great, and the very, very bad that goes along with them, you will love this story!! Ms. Jamison has found herself a new fan!!!!!

DNF - At 50% nothing has happened, And I can't be bothered to carry on reading, normally I wouldn't give up this far into a book, but in all honesty I have been skim reading since about 20%. Reasons for giving up
- I can't stand Val, she constantly contradicts everything she thinks/says.
- Ethan is as boring now as he was at the beginning of the book, his character developement is non-existent.
- There are far too many books out at the moment about tortured pussy whipped rockers, and the immature maybe/maybe-not girls they fall for.

Unfortunately this isn't one of the good ones.
