One Lie #3

One Twisted Lie

Rate this book
Someone needs to remind me I can’t sleep with my mortal enemy.

Ever since I was little, Carter Everett has been public enemy number one, and it’s not hard to see why.
His parents own the only competing tech company that even stands a chance of threatening the legacy my family has built. And beyond that, everything about him irritates me, from his stupid thick glasses to his snotty attitude. Sometimes, I swear I could just strangle—

Yeah, I hate the guy.

So, when a hate-fueled passionate kiss occurs between us, I’m more than shocked. I’m prepared to erase it from my mind and my tongue, no matter what the cost.

What should have been a one-off kiss leads to more when my father asks me to get close to Carter for reasons he refuses to tell me.

Everything is going according to plan until I start to realize that maybe Carter isn’t that bad. His stupid thick glasses are kind of hot, he’s highly intelligent, he’s—

Crap, I’m screwed, aren’t I?

One Twisted Lie is a fast-paced, steamy, enemies-to-lovers romance with a little bit of angst, a lot of vulnerability, some prying friends, and a HEA that’ll melt your heart.

Content warnings include but are not limited to drug use, aspects of dom play, one MMF scene, and topics of mental health . For a more comprehensive list of triggers, please visit my website www.addisonbeckromance.com

I’ve been able to read an ARC of all three books in this series. I absolutely loved book 1 and couldn’t believe that it was a debut release! However, this book blew it out of the water. This is absolutely my favourite book in this series.

The dynamic between Oz and Carter was incredible and something I wasn’t expecting at all. I would love to read more like this. An enemies-to-lovers with the complete opposite dynamic than I was expecting. They were on fire and I appreciated the conversations they had about submission not meaning the person is weak. It’s powerful to give themselves over like that.

I could tell the lie in this book was going to cause issues and it absolutely did and I was devastated. I thought the author did a fantastic job with the situation though. Actions on both sides were completely believable and understandable. I was so incredibly happy they got their HEA!

This could technically be read as a standalone but I do recommend reading the other two books in the series first because they were also great but also because you’ll get more out of the side character stories knowing what’s going on as all three books pretty much are on a simultaneous timeline. This is the last book in the series but I’m really looking forward to future books by this author!

One Twisted Lie (One Lie Book 3) by Addison Beck

❤️ Enemies to Lovers
❤️ 'King' of the school vs Tech genius
❤️ Dom/Sub dynamic
❤️ Dirty Talk
❤️ Boarding School

Ozymandias Clark and Carter Everett have been rivals since the first day they met. With their families businesses in competition and their parents hatred towards each other, it has always been natural for Ozymandias and Carter to act as enemies. However, after they share an unexpected and heated kiss, their passionate hatred towards each other soon twists into passion fueled lust.

One thing this book definitely doesn't lack is spice. Ozymandias and Carter dive right into the action, instinctively taking on Dom/Sub roles. Carter is a boy genius who is constantly working on his laptop or has his nose buried in a book. Though Carter is usually quiet and calm, being around Ozymandias brings out the dominant, authoritative side of him, making him crave control over Ozymandias. Ozymandias is feared by his peers for his powerful presence and family name. Despite being dubbed the 'King of Kings' at school, he naturally bows to Carter's dominance, submitting to being his 'princess' and relishing in letting go of always being in control.

As all three books in this series are set on the same timeline, there is an overlap of events which makes this story more enjoyable if you have read the previous books. I did think the small time jumps in the story were quite jarring and found that you do need to suspend reality a little bit to fully embrace the wildness of some aspects of the storyline.

I really enjoyed both of the previous books in the One Lie series (One Lovely Lie and One Manic Lie) and Ozymandias and Carter's story was the perfect ending to tie the series all together.

Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Humour: 🤭🤭
Intimacy: 🫂🫂🫂🫂
Angst: 🥺🥺.5

First person dual pov 👀

CW (from author): Drug use, aspects of dom play, and topics of mental health.

CW (from me): Humiliation/Degradation kink, detailed MFM scene, Homophobia.

My most anticipated couple of this series, and for sure my faves!

I love a good enemies to lovers, and this very much gave similar vibes to Addison’s other book, Hateful Love. I really enjoyed the push and pull between Carter and Oz, and watching their antagonization turn to softer and sweeter moments.

Like the other books in this series, you can’t look at the plots too closely because they’re just very silly and OTT, but I really had so much fun with all these characters over these three books and I loved how this story rounded out all their HEAs.

This book also contained some of my favorite things: oral fixation + cockwarming, princess as a pet name, a needy bottom, an angry love declaration. I just ate this whole thing up.

I always get a little disappointed when I see the third act coming from a mile away, but I did like the character development we saw here. Also the makeup sex was *chef’s kiss*.

Gonna miss this little band of friends. I really enjoyed all the dynamics between the couples and friendships.

I refuse to type out Oz's full name so even though they don't call him Oz really in the book that's what I'm calling him. Oz and Carter are seniors in high school at a preparatory boarding school for the wealthy. Their families own competitive tech companies and have really bad blood between them. Ever since they met, they have hated each other because of their family rivalries. However they are in the same friend group so they are forced to interact.

One day when they're fighting, Oz decides to shut Carter up with his mouth. Carter dominates him as a continuation of their fighting and Oz discovers that he has a kink for being dominated. They both thought they were straight before but with their attraction to each other they realize they're bi. They are drawn to each other. They have a threesome sharing a girl but are more interested in each other. After that they just keep hooking up and eventually it turns into feelings. But can they make this work when their families hate each other and Oz's dad is trying to do something sketchy?

Nothing against the author, but I think it's time for me to not read high school romances anymore. I don't seek them out deliberately but sometimes I get a rec and I don't realize I'm looking at high school as opposed to college. I was just laughing at these little aholes. They thought they were such tough s***, players, kings. Oz throws his money around and gets whatever he wants. Like when they were setting up the threesome, Oz just magically was able to get a bedroom that was fully kitted out within the club so that they could hook up in there. It's so awkward seeing these high school seniors dabbling in deep kink and being so confident. They are metaphorical toddlers! And this is the first time either of them have really done kink. It's just awkward and uncomfortable to watch because they aren't doing it in a safe way and it just makes me feel dirty.

Something else I didn't like. Oz has a master key that lets him get into every room at the prep school. Uh what? Massive violation of all the other students rights. And if this is a thing that they can do, why didn't Oz's dad get the key and have someone break into Carter's room to steal the program he was working on? There were a couple typos. There were some cheesy references comparing their love to Heathcliff and Cathy, made more cheesy by the fact that in another book in this series that couple kept comparing their love to Bella and Edward.

But I have to say the second half of the book picked up. They kind of grew as characters, they got a bit smarter and I got less annoyed. And even during the first half of the book there were things that I really liked like the enemies to lovers trope and the forbidden romance element. So for this book I'm rounding up my 3.5 star rating.

Some notable moments:

"I’m entirely unprepared when he attacks me. Not with his fists but with his mouth. He shoves me roughly against the door, and I wince when the doorknob jams against my back. What makes me even more confused is the fact that I’m kissing him back. Why am I kissing him back? It’s a clashing of teeth, tongues battling for dominance, his hand now wrapped around my neck and cutting off my circulation. When he presses his thumb against my jugular and uses his other hand to yank my hair at the roots, I moan. I. Fucking. Moan."

"“Yeah, I fucking love you!” I snap, my voice coming out angry. “So, you win!” “Win what? Was there a contest I didn’t know about?” he asks. He pauses, taking a step toward me, hand extended gently and hesitantly. “Why?” “Why what?” “Why do you love me?”"

There were a couple scenes that I liked where the characters really leaned into showing us that they were immature high school seniors and dealt with expressing their feelings in exactly the way that you would expect someone of that age to deal. So these scenes made me laugh:

"“Hey,” Carter whispers, tugging my hand and leading me to a little secluded corner of the lobby. “Come here.” “What? Why?” He stands in front of me, arms open with an impatient look on his face. “You’re going to hug me.” “The fuck I am,” I say, taking a step back from the lunacy that’s contagious today. “You hug yourself.”"

"“I fucking love you, princess. I don’t know how the fuck we got here, but here’s where we are.” I squeeze his face gently, cocking my head as my heart constricts. “Well?” “Well, what?”“Say it back, fucker.” “Why?” “Because I know you love me too,” I say confidently. He has to. The way he looks at me. The way he touches me. The way he trusts me. My confidence falters when he doesn’t say anything. “Don’t you?” He grits his teeth, his face red. “Of course, I fucking do. Why do I have to say it? You’re hot as hell, smart as hell, and caring as hell. I don’t have to be anyone but myself when I’m around you.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

I looooved this! I was really really looking forward to this story and it was brilliant.

This was such good enemies to lovers, fighting as foreplay is always fantastic and this started IMMEDIATELY. No worries on this being a slow burn it was great!

Oz and Carter are enemies, their families are enemies and they've been raised as enemies (but they had a few moments of non-enemies)

They are constantly pranking and bothering eachother until.... they aren't! And they start getting in on instead 😂 this book is H O T. The spice is impeccable. I read this book so fast and want to read it again!

I haven't actually read book 1 yet only book 2 and there was a few bits that I was confused on so I definitely recommend reading them in order haha but they seem to pretty much run in the same timeline and the books are very exclusively about each couple so it didn't really affect my reading experience.

I am looking forward to what comes next from Addison!.

For anyone who was personally victimized by Notorious Park Avenue Prince: Read This Book. It's everything we deserved but didn't get for East and I am obsessed.
“Last week you filled all my shoes with rocks! I cut myself!” “Yeah, and the week before that you custom-programmed my phone to play porn whenever I opened it!”
To say I am obsessed with Ozymandias and his brilliant rich boy name is an understatement. This is an E2L that hits just right. The boys are assholes to each other, but not "break your arm & leave you bleeding" type, just normal snarky hilarious rich brat shit.
He licks my lips and smiles. “Who’s my slut?” “I am,” I respond, reaching up to ground myself on his shoulders as he thrusts into me, driving himself so deep that it forces my head to bump against the headboard. “Who’s my whore?” “M-me…” “You’re my princess, Oz,” he whispers, nipping at my lips as his hands push my thighs into my chest.
This book is by far the hottest of the three. Ozymandias & Carter have that E2L energy but they just vibe off each other as well. Their kinks match up & they are smoking hot together. I freaking love them..
“I’m trying to romance you, shut the fuck up,” he growls, pushing me until I’m on my back and he’s hovering over me.
If you love rich boys behaving bratty with funny snarky banter and surprisingly not a lot of stupid drama you need to read this. I loved it💙

“My ruthless princess. My apex predator. My king of kings.”

I have loved this series! One Twisted Lie, by Addison Beck, wrapped up everything perfectly. I will miss the guys of Armory Prep!

Highlights:
⭐️enemies to lovers
⭐️sexual awakening
⭐️boarding school
⭐️found family vibes
⭐️mod angst
⭐️mild dom/sub aspects
⭐️steamy

Carter and Ozymandias (Oz) have captured by attention since book 1, and their story did not disappoint. I don’t want to spoil things for those who haven’t read book 1 and 2, but just know that these two had the best hate-fueled sexual tension during the series. Made their HEA that much better!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Favorite quote:
“There’s a zing that vibrates through my body at his tone, an electricity that zaps my nerves at the way he’s taking control. I should push him away. I should curse him out. I should do…something, but I can’t. I’m trapped.”

Read this series!!! Do it! Missing Carter and Oz already—guess it’s time for a reread. 😏👏🏻

I've been eagerly awaiting to read Carter's and Oz's story. From the first book, I knew they were going to be my favorites. I just love the enemies-to-lovers trope! I really enjoyed this book. Not only that, but I loved the dynamic between Carter and Oz, and even though the plot was kind of crazy for high schoolers, I found it interesting.

I just have to talk about Oz, what a precious character. I love when an MMC is all scary-looking and intimidating but is really a softie. I loved being able to see his vulnerability, since in the past books, we had a very different view of him. The same with Carter. I love that he's this dominating sexy nerd.

I adore this series and characters. One thing I want to highlight about this series are the pet names “Princess” and “Honey,” even “Baby.” I'm a sucker for a cute nickname. I'm going to miss these characters.

“Sometimes it pays to be the king of kings.”
“You hate when I call myself that.”
“Well, it worked now.”
I setle my forehead against his.“I’d rather be your princess”

“Princess,” he mumbles, his lips brushing against the crown on my head. “I hate this. I hate how much I want you. I hate that I fucking light up whenever you’re around now. I hate that I can always taste you, like how is that possible? And I really, really hate how much I think I’d do for you.” His words hit me square in the chest because I don’t think he hates it. In the way he’s touching me, whispering in my ear, rubbing his foot up and down my calf, all of it leads me to believe that he doesn’t hate it one bit. And that’s where the danger lies.

Ozymandias Clark + Carter Everett. I AM NOT OKAY, Y’ALL. One Twisted Lie is now a favorite of 2023.

ʙᴇᴄᴀᴜꜱᴇ ɴᴏ ᴏɴᴇ ᴇʟꜱᴇ’ꜱ ᴛᴏʀᴛᴜʀᴇ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ᴇᴠᴇʀ ʙᴇ ᴛʜɪꜱ ꜱᴡᴇᴇᴛ.

The love story between the closeted dom and the kingly sub has absolutely zero words that can describe how unbelievably perfect these two were together. I am almost speechless because I loved it THAT much. Filled with so much passion and tension, I was floored by how sweet and loving these two actually were.

The dynamics surprised me. I’m not gonna lie. The whole dom/sub play was hot af. The fact that I was not picturing the right guy with the right position makes me giddy. The name calling and pampering were such sexy highs and powerful lows. *𝘈𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘰𝘯, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘒𝘐𝘓𝘓𝘌𝘋 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴, 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭. 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘰!*

ᴍʏ ʀᴜᴛʜʟᴇꜱꜱ ᴘʀɪɴᴄᴇꜱꜱ. ᴍʏ ᴀᴘᴇx ᴘʀᴇᴅᴀᴛᴏʀ. ᴍʏ ᴋɪɴɢ ᴏꜰ ᴋɪɴɢꜱ.

I loved this series and I’m sad it’s coming to an end but holy crap, it was worth every emotion and ended in the best way possible.

This whole series has been a fun ride. Oz and Carter was fantastic to witness. They had me laughing one second and reaching for ice water the next. This group of friends sucked me in and don’t let go. The writing was great. Even though I was hoping for a bigger end for the parents. It still felt really pulled together. Can’t wait to read the next one from this author.

4.5⭐️3.5🌶️

An excellent conclusion to the series and my favourite overall! I definitely recommend reading in order as there are references to both of the previous book’s events and the timelines overlap quite a lot.

Oz & Carter - their families are industry rivals and they’ve grown up hating each other but suddenly things shift and Carter is unleashing his inner Dom on Oz who really craves the freedom one can find in submission.

Oz’s dad tells him to get close to Carter and that’s the final push he needs to call a truce and lean into the sexual chemistry they’ve discovered with each other. Oz doesn’t know what his dad hopes to accomplish but the boys do indeed become friends and lovers and of course feelings develop and complicate everything.

Book one was really sweet and angsty, book two was highly emotional, and I think book three was the perfect blend of all that. The parents are awful, everyone has secrets, there’s drama and insecurities, and hot, hot spice 👌🏻 I loved the little dates they went on and how they slowly opened up to each other and I *loved* how they teamed up in the end 😍😍😍

“Is this how normal people tell each other they’re in love?”
“It’s very Cathy and Heathcliff of us.”
“They both die at the end.”

No words

No words can describe how moving and powerful a story Addison Beck has weaved in this story of two men raised to hate each other, yet despite that, they are the perfect match. We've seen Oz and Carter in previous installments, and I was curious if it was just tension or something more. It turns out to be so much more. Out of a lie, they drop the hate and become close. Thanks to that lie, they see each other for who they really are, the good, the bad, and the ugly. This is a true emotional rollercoaster in the best way possible and shows us despite being brought up one way you can rise above and be a better person. The friendships this group build throughout their college years are ones that will make them strive to be better in the future. If you're on the fence about this book, please give it a go and see how brilliantly this tale is weaved by this author.

I couldn't put the book down, and, honestly, I can’t believe this is the author’s first trilogy. She is very, very talented and creative. I have read books from acclaimed authors with many sales and followers that are not even 10% as good as these books.

One Twisted Lie is the last book of the One Lie trilogy, and it tells the story of the last two characters of the big five group: Ozymandias and Carter, and what a story it is! This is definitely an enemies-to-lovers plot, where the enemies are in forced proximity because they share the same group of friends. You have to read the books in order to really get all the details and understand the backstories.

Carter and Oz are kind of mysterious characters in the other 2 books, especially Carter who keeps to himself and has his nose buried in a book all the time. It is exciting to get to know them both, know why on earth Oz is the “King of kings” and why they hate each other.

The story is fun, interesting, well-written, and well-developed. It has mild angst, there are definitely angsty moments, sad moments, but it has a HEA. It is full of hot scenes and plot twists, and it feels real, it doesn’t fall into all the absurd cliches some romance books have that make us roll our eyes.

The characters have depth, are well developed, their actions are aligned with their personalities, and are consistent throughout all books. They are lovable and relatable, well, as much as one can relate to a billionaire!

The book ties with the other two books perfectly, since it happens in the same time frame, but is told from Oz and Carter’s point of view. I believe Addison did an amazing thing here, we have a time frame, and the story of what happened during this time is told from six different points of view, two per book. Daniel and Magnus in book one, Avery and Sebastian in book two, and now Ozymandias and Carter in book three.

My one complaint, which is not really a complaint, is that it is too short! I know it is better to leave us readers aching for more than to create a long story that repeats itself and makes us drop the book midway. So, I definitely want more of these guys! Of all five of them.

It is a highly recommended book, the whole trilogy is. Don’t miss it, and keep your eyes open for Addison Beck, I feel she’ll make a name for herself in no time.

Ozymandias Clark and Carter Everett finally get their book! The tension has been building between these two since Book 1, and we now get to read their story.

Carter and Oz are heirs to their family companies and have been taught to hate each other ever since they were kids. No one knows why their families despise one another, just that it’s always been this way. The two end up going to the same high school and find themselves in the same friend group. Carter is the brains of the bunch, while Oz has a big heart and wants what’s best for everyone. Every interaction they’ve had so far have been either through pranks, embarrassing one another, or arguing. Until one day during their senior year an out-of-the-blue kiss turns it all upside down. After this life-altering kiss, Oz’s dad asks him to get close to Carter with no reason other than to do. So, Oz suggests a truce with Carter and thus their experimenting with one another begins. What was first hate quickly turns into more as the two get to know each other. As they say, there really is a fine line between love and hate.

You can tell even from Book 1 that those two were meant to be together. I would not recommend reading this as a standalone as all 3 books in the series intertwine. Book 1 is Daniel and Magnus’s story and really helps you get to know the characters. Overall, this was a high-heat, quick read, and a great ending to the series!.

One Twisted Lie is book three in the One Lie Series. All three books and couples were so different yet their stories all intertwine into a really fantastic series which I have absolutely loved.

If you have read books one and two (which I hope you have) you will know that there is some serious animosity between Ozymandias and Carter. They're in the same friendship group but they do not like each other - they barely tolerate each other.

Oz is THE man on campus. The king of kings. People fear him and do anything he asks of them - and his seemingly endless funds get him everything he wants. He is confident and strong willed. Carter is the smartest student at Armory Prep. He is intelligent and charming and in no way bothered by Ozymandias' "king" status.

Their parents started a feud between the families. No one knows why. And these two continually antagonise either other, until one day it all comes to a head. And when it does....WOW..... that moment and the moments that follow are charged, electric - A-f*cking-mazing.

"𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙗 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙟𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙧 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙨, 𝙄 𝙢𝙤𝙖𝙣. 𝙄. 𝙁*𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝙈𝙤𝙖𝙣."

These two have the most incredible dynamic and chemistry. I loved how they were together. One Twisted Lie is a superb example of enemies to lovers. Actual enemies who intensely dislike each other, and who eventually realise they would take on the world for each other. Their love is that strong.

I guess there really is a fine line between love and hate - isn't that right Carter and Oz?

One Twisted Lie by Addison Beck is the third book in the One Lie Series. This MM enemies to lovers romance story is about Ozymandias Clark and Carter Everett. They both are the heirs to their families tech companies and have been taught to hate each other. They don't even know the real reason why their families despise one another. All throughout their time at Armory Prep, Oz and Carter argue and antagonize each other. It isn't until their senior year when one unexpected passionate kiss changes everything.

When Oz's father asks him to get close to Carter without revealing why, Oz decides to call a truce with Carter. They both admit their sexual curiosity and agree to experimenting together. I was surprised to learn who took on the submissive role, but it was so well written. The steamy scenes were incredibly HOT! Oz and Carter's connection becomes so intimate, and it was amazing to see their trust and vulnerability.

I loved how their relationship turns into so much more; therefore it did make it hard to stomach the lie and what happened as a result. My heart was sad for them both, but it made it that much better when Oz and Carter got their HEA. It will make your heart smile.

Wow! What a way to end a series! I do recommend reading the other two books in the series first. All three books are pretty much on a simultaneous timeline, so it's great that we get to see Daniel & Magnus, as well as Avery & Sebastian again. The One Lie Series was truly exceptional and I can't wait to read what Addison Beck writes next!!.

***ARC Review***

This is my honest review for the ARC I received.

This is the third book in the One Lie series. Ozymandias and Carter have been enemies since meeting at fourteen years old. Even before birth, their families were at odds. These guys cannot stand one another. Things are so charged between them, they eventually cannot find an outlet, other than to let things get physical. These MCs have some angry, passion-fueled times together. They are harsh in both their words and actions. As these things go, however, the longer they spend time together… the more they begin to realize that the other person isn’t as bad as they initially thought.

Ozymandias is superbly loyal and fiercely protective of his friends (the people he cares about the most). Carter is a supremely intelligent guy. Both characters know their worth. Despite numerous attempts to avoid or deny it, these guys actually soothe something in one another that they didn’t even realize they needed.

This was an enjoyable read. I’m a big fan of the enemies to lovers trope. I always appreciate when the lines get blurred and one or both of the characters catches feelings. The third act in this story is a doozy. That said, there is definitely an HEA and this couple can actually be a bit sweet when you aren’t expecting it. They also have moments of vulnerability that are just gah! *swoon*

This book held my attention well. The epilogue wraps up the story and the series in a nice way. I’ll be sure to read future works from Addison Beck.

I was excited to read Oz & Carter's book and this book didn't disappoint me. This was another amazing book in this series, the whole series is a must-read.

Oz & Carter are the heirs to their respective family companies & they have always been mortal enemies since they were kids. That hatred only increased when they met freshmen year & they started pranking each other & get on each other nerves. But now they are in their senior year & one out-of-the-blue kiss between them is making them think about each other. In between this Oz's dad tells him to be friendly with Carter for some unknown reasons, so Oz suggests a truce between them. As Oz & Carter spend time together having sex or just bickering or talking about everything & nothing, they get close & start liking each other.

I liked this book so much, Oz & Carter's chemistry was just so beautiful to read. Carter's dominant side & Oz's submissive & vulnerable side which he only showed to Carter & how they took care of each other so well written. I loved how they fought for their happily ever after with their parents who were so neglecting & wanted only money & degrade each other.

The few scenes we get of them with their other friends were so beautiful, especially after Avery's discharge how Oz apologized & how sweet Avery was, he is my favourite character & the best person.

This series was so amazing, I am looking forward to reading more books from the author.

One Twisted Lie is the third installment of the One Lie Series. You can read this as a stand alone, however reading the first two books will give you some much needed background information to several different scenarios in this book.

Having read the first two books in this series, I had a strong expectation on what to expect. Addison Beck definitely follows a standard outline in her writing, changing up the characters personalities and the underlying trope for them. I liked that even though I knew what the overall outcome was going to be for the Oz and Carter, I did not know what trials and tribulations they were going to face.

Both Carter and Oz were what I typically think of when I think of people that attend an elitist boarding school. I loved their unconventional relationship. I really loved each of their journeys to discover if they are actually the elitist brats that they were groomed to be or if they can reach a higher self awareness.

I recommend this book to anyone that has read the first two books in the series or anyone looking for an easy to read MM Boarding School Romance.

❤️‍🩹 Safety:
There is a MFM scene very well written in my opinion (they treat the woman respectfully).

Features:

✅Light sub/dom dynamics, humiliation/degradation

💖 Endearments: princess, good boy, babe

And now for my opinion:

1) The writing in the beginning was really good.
She's good at dialogue (she incorporates action).

2) Then I got kinda annoyed by some things and so I started to be nit picky.

3) "I don't know how it happened but it happened" exactly, I don't know either 😀😅

4) Their first time gave me whiplash because it was too sudden and it felt wrong.

5) Their love didn't feel authentic. Some time jumps into the past in the present tense would have strengthened their bond, in my opinion.

6) It wasn't very believable because time just passed and we didn't get to see it? You know what I mean

📢❓Do I recommend it? I don't really recommend it if you haven't read the previous two (which I haven't done) It reads like the last book of a series (honestly it actually IS the last book of a series) but I'm not actually paying a compliment. There's drama with all the side characters, plus the drama of their families which, sadly, takes away from them and they don't feel like the main characters.

Not a very exciting read or execution.

ARC review

Both have the same friends. Both are toy soldiers.
But one is the apex predator. The King of Kings.
While the other is a geek. An acquaintance. The ultimate enemy.
So what would be the worst outcome if these enemies decided that it would be better to use their suppressed hatred to appease their inner desires?
Feelings had definitely been the last thing they could have considered having when they started this experiment, which was meant to be the perfect façade for the true purpose behind it.
Interested?
Well, if you are, you don't want to miss this.
General thoughts:
To be honest, this was a quick, fun, easy and really satisfying read that is well worth reading.
Also, one of the things that surprised me was that in this book we don't have the typical nerd that we have got to know. I mean, yeah, he's extremely smart and all, but he also likes to be the one in charge.
Something I would like to mention is that it is highly recommended to read the previous books to understand some side events that happened in the story.
With that being said, I just want to say that I am completely satisfied with this book and with the dedication that the author put into it.

This book serves as a light and entertaining read.

The author weaves a captivating tale that keeps the readers engaged throughout, especially when it comes to the group of friends relationship dynamics. The chemistry between the MCs is palpable, and their banter adds a spark to the story.

While the book delivers on the promised trope, the plot feels somewhat predictable at times, lacking the depth and complexity that could elevate the story to the next level. Moreover, certain characters development could have been more fleshed out to create a stronger emotional impact. Out of all 6 MCs in the series, I feel like Avery was the most developed character, and the depth of feelings we saw, somehow highlighted how the other characters could have been developed further.

Overall, the book provides an escape for those seeking a sweet and uncomplicated romantic read.

One drawback I have with the whole series however, is the alienation we see against parents and the ease with which all the characters, except Avery, found it to go against their parents and cut off relationships. I feel like this is a running theme with the books and I’m not a fan of it.

Don't support this author!

TW: SA, CSA, suicide

Addison Beck is also Maddison Devlin.

The same Maddison Devlin who wrote the Devilry series-- the one that gave an HEA to a pedophile in book 2, didn't reveal that information until book 3, and ended book 3 with a murder-suicide of SA and CSA victims that she called a beautiful and necessary "unconventional HEA".

She did NOT trigger warn for these things and traumatized a legion of ARC readers, then cancelled book 3 and tried to bury it along with her connection to this grotesque behavior.

This author is truly a disgusting human being who has zero respect for her readers, particularly the queer ones. Tricking them into rooting for a child predator and withholding MASSIVE triggers from her ARC team that cause serious harm is fucking repulsive.

This author does not deserve your time or money.

I have loved every book in this series, but I think this one is my favorite! The just keep getting better and better. I absolutely adored both Oz and Carter and I'm a sucker for a good enemies to lovers. This was definitely that. I was concerned about Oz going into this, since I wasn't his biggest fan before. But the author did a great job of giving us the "behind the scenes" and backstory for him that really made me believe the "real" side of him that comes through in this. These boys complement each other so well.
Like with the other books in this series there is mental health rep and it's done very well. There is some dom/sub play and a bit of the degradation kink. The steam is A+!
This can be read as a standalone, but I suggest reading the series in order. Personally, I feel like you get a lot more from the characters that way.

I don’t know what to say. The characters! Ozymandias And Carter hate each other -right?

It was like the classic (mm version) of Romeo and Juliet.

Raised by feuding families, they were taught not to trust each other. One kiss sets things in motion for these two, and it’s quite the ride!

Oz was an unexpected character for me, because he grew up knowing everything he did was for the family, and watch him truly let go with Carter was pure magic.

They have such a passionate relationship, and I just kept hoping they could work through their families expectations and last.

It’s a fast-burn romance, and is super freaking hot! Loved it!.

A good and entertaining story, with spicy and hot moments, in a dynamic where the MCs fall naturally, although a bit unexpected. I mean, not what one would have imagined, however it is well done.

It is one of those books where young people make decisions and act with more maturity than adults themselves. The reason for the animosity between the parents is really childish and the way they act too, maybe the only negative thing I see in the story. But without that, we wouldn't have this particular story...

And it is a book that can be read as standalone, but since what happens in the previous two is intertwined with what happens in this one, it is better if you read all three.

I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
