This book should be read by all women--young and mature alike. There is a lot of misinformation out there as to what menopause is all about, and the author writes to dispel the fiction and give new hope to the reader. She gives out great advice and tips that will spark some new ideas as to what to expect in perimenopause and beyond. The author has been traveling this journey herself, and wants to share what she has learned and how to minimize symptoms.

Put the Pause in Menopause

By Penelope Silvers

Author Penelope Silvers writes an uplifting, often humorous book on the perils and pluses of menopause — the good news and the not so good. This is a book primarily for women about to enter a new phase in their lives, but men would be wise to read it as well, if for no other reason than understanding might protect them when mood swings turn some of their loved ones into terrors.

The primary issues she discusses are some of the causes of the worst symptoms and some simple ways to avoid them, or at least put the fire out. She reminds readers that many women have no symptoms at all while others are basically ruled by hormones running amok within their systems. The assault to a previously happy body can be mild, or torturous — or tease women by shifting from one to the other. It can last for a few months or 10 years and it's most likened to the changes young girls experience with puberty.

Penelope explains that it starts in the peri-menopausal stage, usually the 35-55 age group and women going through a rough stage can cause actual fear even among their 6”4” male significant others – with good reason.

Her message to fellow sufferers is packed by massive and thorough research and touches upon hormone replacement and bio identical hormones; as well as cremes, supplements, the proper foods to eat; and those to avoid as well as exercise and meditation. The idea for this book comes when Penelope Silvers gets a “Eureka" moment while watching “The Biggest Loser" on television, hoping to lose some of the mysterious weight gains which crop up in spite of diet and exercise. This system is a 3-phase, 90 day weight loss program including a 30 minute total body fitness plan. Even in the midst of rage and attacks of weeping, losing weight and toning up can enhance any woman's mood.

Penelope lays out a healthy diet plan, only strict the first week, followed by choices of healthy organic food-- free of sugar, fruit, flour, soda, grains, and minimal dairy, along with reduced caffeine intake. The right foods can cool even the hottest menopause flashes, but Penelope suggests to crank up the AC when you need it.

Author Silvers lays out a pattern of diet, exercise, and stress release, intermixed with her own personal, often comical and sometimes frustrating experiences upon entering the wacky world of menopause. This first book is the introduction to the. “Body Revolution Solution" series of books created by her in an effort to help women go through menopause in a more gentle manner, coming out of it into a healthy bright future. This book is a must-read for women and the men who've come to fear them. Once one begins reading, it's impossible to put this book down.
