The next serial sensation from Beth Kery, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Because You Are Mine. New York Times bestselling author Beth Kery's blistering new novel of a man and woman bound by the scandalous secrets of the past--and by the sexual hunger that still fuels their uncontrollable desires... Restaurateur and self-exiled heir Lucien Lenault's first look at the breathtaking young chef trainee for his trendy Chicago restaurant is a shock. She's Elise Martin, daughter of a wealthy French fashion designer. She's also the holder of a secret that could explode his carefully laid plans. Notorious for her flagrant exhibitionism, and for flouting the respectable façade of her aristocratic background, the coquine's wild streak shocked most people. Not Lucien. He was tempted by it. It was a deliriously punishable offense as far as Lucien was concerned. But taking on Elise is more than a game. She's a catastrophe waiting to happen, an inferno that's burned many a lover. Lucien isn't most men, however, and he won't allow her to manipulate him. In order to control the defiant beauty--in order to see her submit--he's going to have to willingly walk in the flames...
Beth Kery is the New York Times and USA Today best selling author of over thirty novels, novellas and serials. She writes contemporary romances as well as erotic contemporary romances, her hallmarks being emotional intensity, leap-off-the-page realistic characters and steamy sexual tension.
I had to honestly pick my face up off the floor. I could get to the end fast enough. I felt like the little girl the AT&T commercial ...I wanted more...Like I really enjoyed reading this and I want more, but there wasn't any more ....The revelations that were revealed are insane. The connection between Lucien and Ian I would of not guessed Evvvvvvver. I truly and utterly loved how this series came full circle. I am still in awe!
Thankfully I threw caution to the wind, said carpe diem to the $1.99 for 2 chapters and having to wait a entire week for my next fix of mommy porn. Elise being the person she is allowed herself to have verbal diarrhea, which ultimately set things in motion of being manifesting itself. The one thing the I could not appreciate was the fact that she made this unveiling about her. How Lucien would never forgive her and blahza blah. It's like lady take a breathe, this man just had a major blow delivered to him; he needs time to process The burden these two men have carried throughout their life is ....... MUCH
I do want to warn that we are left with a somewhat cliffhanger as it relates to Ian and Francesca, which I am sure will pick up when Because We Belong novel is released . As far as Lucien and Elise their ending had an almost not so happy ending, but somehow Lucien had to look within his self and made magic happen. Ms.Kery I applauded you for getting me out of my reading funk.
I will happily read any and everything that you write. I do ask that you have some mercy on me and give more of Lucien and Elise there has to be more to those two and I am aching to find out what it is.
Lucien is an übber sexy over the top Dom...I was fanning myself for almost the eight books!
During the first couple of books, they are all:
and then BK works her magic and it´s a sex-a-ton until almost the end of the book, when we learn what secret Lucien was keeping from Ian all this time...the ending is cliffhanger-ish for Ian and Francesca, but for Lucien and Elise we get a HEA.
Please time go by fast...I want to read Because we long like now!!
You evil, evil woman putting that in there at the very end! OMG, anything to make sure we buy your next series with Ian and Franchesca... You had better right it fast - my heart is sinking here!
This series, "When I'm with You" has been very well written. I love how it tied into "Because You are Mine" series.
What a shocking last couple of chapters. I very much enjoyed Lucien and Elise's journey together. It was sweet, yet sassy in a great way!
This is now the 2nd series I have read of Ms. Kery's and I enjoyed them both... I also read a stand alone book of hers from the Addicted series (I think that's the series name anyways). I very much enjoy her writing style although I much prefer stand alones and not have to wait 8 weeks to read a book. I still went for it anyways!
When I’m with You is a light BDSM read with a cooking theme.
Summary
Elise is a rich girl, but she can’t tap into her trust fund until she turns twenty-five. She finished cooking school and wants to mentor with a chef. Lucien is rich, owns an exclusive restaurant and has corrupted father. Lucien is a man who knows what he wants and what kind of women he wants in bed. Elise aligns herself with the head chef at Lucien’s restaurant. Elise and Lucien have a past since both grew up rich and in the same circle.
Overall
I like Beth Kery books. They are very light, steamy and have touch of BDSM. I liked how Elise and Lucien have a history and it gave the read an extra layer of chemistry. Elise is a very head strong girl. She’s grown up rich, is pretty and isn’t immune to men giving her attention, yet she never flaunts herself. I liked her story, poor rich girl trying to make it on her own.
Lucian is the typical rich Hero with a chip on his shoulder. Lucian has a past and he’s working on something. Elise is intrigued with Lucian’s past and has had a crush on Lucian since childhood. Lucian finds Elise very sexy and although he doesn’t want to forge a relationship with her, he’s more than willing to work out something that will benefit the both of them.
The story is light, in the sense it’s a steamy book, meaning the man focus is the steam. There is some light bondage and spanking, but nothing ever goes deeper or darker. Lucian is very closed off, so this adds some tension between the two. I did like getting some back story on Lucian and you slowly uncover his past.
When I’m with You is was an easy read and enjoyable.
When I am With You is an eight book (comprised of two chapters each) serial. I am not a fan of the serial approach but Beth Kery can write the hell out of erotica so I overlook this pet peeve of mine for her. If you are familiar with Beth Kery’s writing than you will be happy to hear that all of her usual erotic elements are present and accounted for. There is the dominant, Lucien, the submissive (and only in the sexual context) Elise, paddles, riding crops, nipple clamps and butt plugs. If you have read her first serial, Because You Are Mine, you are already familiar with Ian Noble, Francesca Arno and Lucien Lenault. This series focuses on Lucien, the successful restaurateur and friend of Ian Noble.
When I Am With You begins with the unexpected re-acquaintance of Lucien and Elise under less than ideal circumstances and we quickly learn that they share a history. Both are from wealthy influential European upbringings and their dysfunctional parents are friends. Elise is a strong willed, defiant, independent woman. She is trying to break free of her wild child reputation and daddy’s purse strings while taking control of her future. Lucien is very private and controlled in all aspects of his life. He finds Elise’s sudden intrusion into his life inconvenient and distressing as he is hiding secrets of his own.
Elise still harbors her childhood crush for Lucien and although Lucien is initially aloof when dealing with Elise, you can easily see his underlying attraction to her. Elise has created quite the public persona (think Paris Hilton) and Lucien’s preconceived notion that she is an out of control, spoiled, rich bitch that is promiscuous angers him whenever he is reminded of her party girl image. Jealous much??? He should have remembered that there is that age old adage that says don’t assume, it makes an ass out of you??? In his quest to tame Elise and teach her restraint and self-control, Lucien proposes an exclusive relationship between the two where she will submit to him. Let the games begin.
If you have a fictional freebie list, Lucien belongs on it! The sex is off the charts panty melting hella’ hot! He is French and underneath all his kink is a romantic. The man has a bed set up on his private terrace during one of their sexcapades. Silk panes enclosing the bed for privacy, the top open to the stars and one side open to a lake view, white rose petals are sprinkled on the covers, candles are flickering around the terrace and a bottle of champagne is chilling beside the bed. Hell yeah, sign me up!
Somewhere amongst all of this bondage and sex there is an actual plot taking place. There are secrets, misconstrued eavesdropping, and a private investigator. Can trust in a relationship endure on half truths? And when the big reveal happens and lives are irrevocably affected, which relationships will be strong enough to survive the fall out?
I am happy to report that the next installment in this series, Because We Belong, which takes us back to Ian and Francesca’s relationship, is due later this year and is not a serial.
A really sexy, steamy, and erotic book. Again as with the first book with all the sex toys and the manner they are used to full fill a couples complete satisfaction. I mean this woman had at least 5 or more orgasms and she still is ready to please her man SOME MORE. I wish I was Elise but with all her stamina and strength plus more. The male character, Lucien is one really gorgeous man with a sexy french accent. He is also a bit of a Superman in bed. All I needed was for the Superman and Superwoman costumes to come off before preceding with all the love making.
Still a really good plot and worth the time. Do not wish to give it away it is a doozie.
I see that this book was at one time broken into novellas. I am glad I am reading this now and not then. I would have been suffering waiting for the next book to be released. I have all three books here with me now and ready to read and get to the end of the story.
An amazing read..all the 8 parts. It's so hot, so passionate.. Elise..I like her,she is beautiful and intelligent, talented and she cause havoc with everyone, especially Lucien. Well, Lucien is handsome and of course sex on legs...but he has his secrets and keeping them,he keeps Elise at a distance..he realized that when it's almost too late. I love the end and the way they shared their secrets and made up.
Beth Kery always delivers stories that you can't put down and that are scorchingly delicious! I enjoyed this series and loved Lucien and Elsie's story. The ending of this series answered a lot of questions and it perfectly set the the story up for the continuation of Francesca and Ian's story...can't wait!
This series was HOT!! So glad I waited to read it until all the chapters were done. The wait would have killed me:) I was happy it included Ian and Francesca as well. Now I find out there is gonna be another book on them and that's very exciting although I'm scared at what's going to happen with them. Loved this series and can't wait for the next story!
I liked Lucien and Elise but didn't connect to them quite as much as Ian and Francesca. Lucien is every bit as hot as Ian though! And what an ending! I am frustrated that I read the sneak peak to Part II of Because You Are Mine. I kept telling myself not to and damn-it I did it anyway! Ugh, now the wait...
A final bombshell is dropped and the door is left whide open for Frenchesca and Ian's next story. Over all this whole story was a lot of sex with little character development, I didn't feel Elise or Lucien changed throughout. Lucien was angry at Elise because he thought she was an impulsive party girl, once he discovered she was a virgin he changed his mind.
I am so glad to have finished this second part of the series, and by coincidence it was the best book in the second part. Maybe that's because it featured much more of Ian and Francesca. It really doesn't seem necessary to read this second part except for the last 2 chapters unless Lucien and Elise feature in the 3rd of the series, which I hope not as I don't particularly like them.
i need to reread this one to be able to write a review you cant just stop reading after finishing BECAUSE YOU ARD MINE and it is for sure still not over after WHEN I AM WITH YOU
Sadly this series didn't really grab me like the the first series with Ian and Francesca. I just couldn't find anything interesting or appealing about Elise. And while Lucien was intriguing I found the majority of this series seriously lacking in intensity and heat.
Overall the series is a solid 4 stars. There were parts I absolutely loved and others not so much. I felt the characters background story could have been explored more but overall a good read. Hope this publisher stops these serial novels I really hate them much rather have one longer book.
How can this series end like that ?!? Lucien and Elise were okay but after 16 books you are led to believe that Ian and Francesca are not ....that us more than a cliffhanger.
O mio dio lo sapevo sarebbe andata così..... VOglio subito sapere il seguitooo maledizione e io he pensavo fosse finito;( comunque questo è indubbiamente il capitolo più bello di tutto il libro ;)
I loved the story of Lucien and Elise and her fiery spirit. Beth Kery never disappoints with her books, and I can't wait to read more about Ian and Francesca.
