Tessa and her friends were supposed to be on their way home. On their way to safety. Instead she wakes up alone, with her friends kidnapped. Targeted and hunted, Tessa goes on the attack, desperate to find her friends and family. But her attackers want her throwback genes and will do anything to have her locked down in their lab.
Caught in a dangerous maze, Cody is torn between helping his fellow captives and finding Tessa. He’s young to have the connection that’s growing between him and his best friend’s sister. But any future they might have is in jeopardy if they can’t stop the blood farm from taking over the humans…and his people.
Jared is free at last, but he can’t stop thinking about what he went through at the blood farm and those who helped him. Then he finds out something personal that so horrifying, he has to act…even if it means walking back into the place he swore to never return.
These three need to be strong... the war is far from over…and they are right in the middle of it.

This was another good book. However, we still have a lot left in the series. Tessa, Jared, and Cody all have a lot going on. It switched between them through the book. We did find some more out about what's going on. Unfortunately, we got another cliffhanger. I will have to read the next one to see how this is going to continue.
There’s a war and the characters have no idea who is on the good or bad side. Jared finds pertinent information about his family. Rhia seeks additional help from the council. And just when Tessa thought things were dying down, Cody disappears. There’s still no answer to who the mastermind is behind the blood farm. Too many variables, but such an interesting read.
I'm digging this series in a big way! Tessa's throwback abilities set her apart from everyone and the bad guys seem to be catching on that she's not so much a freak as something they should be coveting. Which is bad news for Tessa. Bad, bad news.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Book 2 left Tessa and her friends in danger, the bad guys apparently gearing up for round 2 of "kidnap the people they want to do bad things to", and a bucketful of confusion over who should be trusted and who's been in on the blood farm plot. Book 3 moves things forward but it also raises more questions. Who is behind this? How will Tess and her friends and family survive when the bad guys have numbers that keep increasing and scruples that are non-existent?
I really like the various dynamics that are popping up. Tessa and Cody, Tessa and the other vampires, Jared and the humans, Jared and the vampires, the families... all of them are intriguing and the shifts as people come together in times of peril keep the story moving along nicely.
As with the other books in this series, there is a cliffhanger ending. I'll tell you a secret,though... the story is engaging and the cliffie didn't bother me. THINGS ARE HAPPENING. And that's good.
Wow, they really can't seem to get out of the farm and even worse, some of those poor human people that came out when Tessa sent her SOS message out are now captured too.
Tessa wakes up in the SUV by herself. Cody, Ian, Jewel, and her brother David are all gone. Not sure if they left her or someone took them, Tessa realizes it is daytime so either way, she is on her own to find her way back to the farm or her friends. Using her unique skills, she tracks them back to a different location and in doing so, learns just how large an operation is being run and that not all of those they are fighting are willing participants of the experiments being conducted on vamps to make them "better". Meanwhile, Cody and the others are awaken to find Tessa is not with them and that they are being held somewhere back at the farm. Again trying to escape, find Tessa, and get back to their parents is there goal, but who to trust has become even more worrisome than ever. They thought they were safe, but they were kidnapped in the middle of the day with no one being the wiser.
Jared on the other hand did make it out and to a healthcare facility, but soon realizes that the human cops don't believe him. Determined to find Tessa and the vamps that at least know what he is dealing with, he leaves and learns some disturbing news that sends him back to the farm with Tessa's older brother Seth. Rhia and Sian access the data in the laptop that shows just how many are involved, and who some of those players are. After trying to contact those back at the farm, they realize they need to reach out to others in support of their family members who have gone missing at the farm, again.
Not sure how they will get out of this mess. For every 3 steps forward, they take a huge step back and find themselves back at the farm. They keep learning more, but it is not good news. Now knowing that those running the farm are experimenting on their own people to try to enhance their abilities or give them new ones, like walking in the sun, plus arming them with weapons to either protect them or kill their enemies, Tessa and team are finding that things can definitely get worse. Just who can they turn to to aid them in the fight, one where humans don't end up subjugated to supervamps.
When we left Tessa she was heading home with David, Jewel, Ian Cody and the counsel member their father trusted. She didn't know him or the driver. She falls asleep and when she wakes, she's alone in the car. There's no sign of anyone and there is really nowhere to hide then she remembers something she saw when she first awoke. Not a jet stream but their energy.
While Tessa is trying to find her brother and friends, Jared gets some visitors, the police of course and his Aunt. He's pretty sure his Uncle sold him to the blood farm but he'd have to prove it.
Jewel and Cody wake from the drugs first and manage to get free of their bindings. The other two wake while they are untying them. In a typical mistake the room they are in isn't locked so they start looking for Tessa. What find is more vampires including the Counselman who was with them all drugged but the Counselman is on a different type of machine.
Serus and Goran realizing the kids are missing AGAIN, head back to the blood farm, they also need to find Taz.
In the meantime Tessa gets closer to where the guys and Jewel are being held, and having some interesting thoughts regarding Cody.
There are so many things going on from so many different angles. You just won't be able to stop reading.
Jared gets involved again, more information on who's doing what to who and some interesting weapons come to light.
Plenty of action, some tears and yes, a cliffhanger. Off to read the next one!

I am officially addicted to this series and hope everything works out for Tessa and her family and friends. I’m not saying anything except you should read if you love vampires and are looking for a story that does not have Twilight vampires. (Yes, they burn in the sun except for Tessa...)
I was so nervous for the entire group. The fact that they were separated so long I never thought that they would be together. The group not only show tenacity, but they prove that nothing can bring them down. I love the friendship that this book shows.
Each book in this series is like popcorn - you can't stop eating it. Good writer, nice dilemma in the story which keeps you reading. If you don't like cliffhangers don't start on them.
Our heroine wakes up in an abandoned car, her friends kidnapped, and her primary reaction? Hurt that she wasn’t kidnapped too.
Enter Cody, our brooding 18-year-old hero, who internally monologues about Tessa being “too young” at 17. Cody, buddy, take a seat. It’s a one-year difference, not a time-space continuum. Meanwhile, Tessa is reminiscing about Jared, her “one true love” (based on one group hangout), while simultaneously swooning over Cody.
In true YA fashion, the plot thickens as Cody’s obviously villainous ex-girlfriend waltzes in. Her red flags practically glow in neon, but everyone is oblivious. Thankfully, she exits stage left (permanently). Gross trope? Handled. Moving on.
The book’s MVP is gasping. Characters gasp at every turn. Gasp at danger. Gasp at love. Gasp at… tracking devices? Speaking of which, Tessa assumes she definitely doesn’t have one because, and I quote, “It would’ve fallen out of her hair.” Sweetheart, ever heard of implants?
Plot highlights include mind reading that conveniently doesn’t work through walls (but only sometimes, because.. plot), Tessa’s mom finally caring about her after 17 years of insults, and a group decision to text missing people instead of calling them. Because who needs logic. The book ends with.. surprise!. another kidnapping. Cody is now the hostage of the week, leaving Tessa to save him in the next book. I’d be more invested if the gasps weren’t stealing the spotlight.
I'm on the edge of my seat reading these books! And I think I've bitten my nails down to the quick. Who do you trust? Who do you kill?
Yes the story is sort of repetitive but they are having to re-explore the blood farm with the idea that there is much more to this scheme than meets the eyes. I just wish they wouldn't separate! But you do learn a lot more about what is going on.
Tessa, Cody, and Jared all grow a lot during this book. Cody struggles to put his past with his ex behind him, while Tessa is learning how to use her unique skills more to her advantage. Jared is the one who grows most though. He comes to grip with his past and becomes stronger and braver for it.
The description of the blood farm and labs makes my skin crawl even more than it did before. The details help me put everything in perspective and see the rooms that they are in. I hate fight scenes in other books where opponents seem to come out of nowhere. The author is careful in these scenes so you are able to keep track of where people are coming from and where others went to, even if they do lose track of them eventually.
Really excited to read the next one! There are so many separate story lines that are interwoven and easy to follow. I can't wait until they all meet up and everything comes to a head!
DALE MAYER HAS SUCH A WONDERFUL SERIES AND I CAN'T WAIT FROM BOOK TO BOOK.... I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION The story of Tessa and her family and fiends continue, and once again it is proving that if they separate something goes wrong. Someone or lots of someones end up captured by the bad guys running the blood farms for vampires and humans alike. All Tessa wanted was to save her human friend Jared, then finds out about a blood farm, which of course her brother David, his girlfriend Jewel, best friends Cody and Lan wouldn't let her go alone. Then in book two Tessa and David's mother Rhia and father Serus and Cody's father Goran and friend Sian(married to human doctor Taz) went to help the kids. But after a very exciting time for all and finally a call to get help up there, Taz came up too.So it begins in book 3 where they must find out who, how and why they have been taken to different places. The adults don't know they have been taken or separated, but when they do look out.But there young men and woman and girl are quit capable themselves. You will find quite a few twist and turns to lead you on a good and interesting journey. And I can't wait for more to see what is next.YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS SERIES IF YOU LIKE/LOVE VAMPIRES...
Vampire in Design By Dale Mayer Family Blood Ties Series Book Three The battle between good vampires, bad vampires and the unknown human factor continues to play out. I love how the author jumps around on the point of views in this story. We see through the eyes of Tessa, Cody and Jared’s eyes and more. Each one is fighting their own battle in a different area. And yet it all blends together beautifully in the story. Once again it’s hard to see who is good and who is evil. So they have to approach each situation with their eyes and senses wide open. Great stories that keeps the reader turning the page and if you are a visual reader, on your toes and ready to see what is around the next corner. Most likely something very unexpected. As with the previous books this also ends with a cliffhanger but thankfully Vampire in Deceit is already out there for you to purchase and see what happens. **Language http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
This book starts off were the last one stops. Tessa saves the day again even though she is getting tired. She has the support of her family and friends to keep her going. Jared has gotten himself into his own kind of trouble that I don't know how he is going to get out of. Jared really get to know how his family treat each other. We get to see Cody and Tessa’s relationship grow(i love reading about them) They are both coming to terms with this weird new connection that they have. We get to see more action in this book and see how it ways on each of Tessa’s friends and family. They are all tired but are determined to see this wrong righted, plus to get some payback on all the things that have happened to them since they started on this journey. I can't wait to see how the next book turns out.
Another action filled ,suspenseful, sit on the edge of your seat story. The plot thickens and the bad guys are gaining the upper hand. As Cody says for every step they move forward the end up 2 steps back. It is getting harder to differentiate who is the bad guy but several obvious clues are starting to indicate other players. There is lots of action and as Tessa gets more familiar with her vampire powers she is growing into a whole new person. The suspense, the kidnappings and the strange designer vamps all keep you glued to the pages. who knew something as innocent as going to the movies would start another major war between good and evil. Got to love Dale Mayer's sense of snark and her ability to control her readers with earth shattering cliffhangers. Another mind blowing series by a talented author. Got to go, book 4 is calling.
So like the first two books, the group gets separated yet again. Tessa gets left behind but at least her mother is on the mend. While trying to reunite the group again, they all learn new allies and new enemies. While Tessa is left alone and trying to get back to her brother David, Cody, Ian and Jewel, she also learns some more about what's going on behind this operation. Rhia and Sian also discover a list of investors. How many people on that list will they know? Will any of the group get back together or will they stay separated again? What happens when Jared learns a big secret? Check out this third installment of the Family Blood Ties Series.
Book 3 is pretty much more of the same as book 1 and 2....still at the blood farm, still getting kidnapped, still getting rescued or rescuing. They take 2 steps forward and 1 1/2 steps back..not making much progress except starting to deplete some of the bad vamp numbers.
Good story concept but lets solve it and move on already. Of course like 1 and 2, there is no HEA and it ended in a cliff hanger. Multi pov.
Would I recommend this book? Yea, if you don't mind this being the never ending story.
Would I read more from this author? Yea, I have to. I've invested too much time in his not to know the outcome......eventually.
As Tessa and her family and friends are on their way home from the blood farm, something goes wrong and she finds herself waking up alone in the car wondering where the rest of the gang is. So back to the blood farm she goes hoping to find them safe. Little did she know, they were all in for another battle for their lives. Jared learns about his father, which leads him back to the blood farm, and Cody ends up missing. What will happen next? I love the way Dale Mayer writes. She always keeps you guessing, and leaves you wanting to know more. And I love how Tessa and Cody are getting to know each other. I can't wait to read the next book.
So far this book series is probably my favorite so far I've read 3 books in the series in a couple of days. I just absolutely love these books. I think that if your debating on buying this book and if your wondering if this book is worth the couple of dollars then I'm going to tell you that it most definitely is. I choose this rating because this is one of the best books I've ever read the other book are the previous in this series . I would recommend this book to anyone because it's great just absolutely great
I rate 20 out of 5 stars This is the best book series I've ever read I would Recommend this book to anyone.
Another amazing - thrilling addition to this storyline. I love that there is some resolution to the love triangle. And the suspense is killing me! And now I have to wait until the fall for the next installment. Cannot wait!
Loved it. However, I did feel there was a bit of repeat to what happened throughout the story. I mean, how many times can you separate and get caught before you figure things out? There does get to be a little language, but not terrible.
I am getting exhausted from all of the Endless artificial cliffhangers. I swear... Every chapter has to end in a cliffhanger. Can't these people spend a couple of days actually getting to know each other? 3 books in and only 3 days have passed?
This series is too long, it could have ended when they found Jared the first time, but no , of course not. I will not be reading on, and I really do not ( and did not at all throughout this book)care what happens to the characters.
Better than book 2 because the story was actually developed a little...and we got a little more information on the whole blood farm operation and what is actually going on. There was also less of the find someone/lose someone but it was still a lot.
The fight goes on and there is a cliffhanger at the end as normal. I just want Cody and Tessa to have a little happiness to discuss their feelings, but the fighting always seems to stop those discussions.
