The complex mix of the related characters in this book is marvelous. I just loved the way that the author made it all seem so natural. There are people from modern North America, the natives and immigrants of the same lands of the seventeenth century, and Norse warriors who arrived in the seventeenth century from almost a millennium before.

Some of this mixture have been born in each of the eras.

It does sound very complicated, but it all hangs together when you read the story.

It is difficult for me to describe much more of the situation, and the events which are described, without giving away too much of this book or the previous book in the series: The Legend of the Bloodstone.

However, you can believe me when I tell you that there are many conflicts and tensions to be resolved. There are tragedies to deal with, and the balance of much joy. I warn you not to become too attached to any of the characters, as the author has a wicked habit of killing off your most loved one just when you want more of him or her. But isn't that like life?

Maggie is a very strong woman. Her twenty-first century attitudes do not fit well with either the native American, or immigrant European, societies of seventeenth century America, as you can imagine. Winn does his best to understand, and he will do anything to protect his wife. The bond is strong.

This is a really great book of well-researched historical fiction, human interactions through the ages, mild erotica, with a smattering of violence. It is even better than book one, and I am already half way through the third in the series as I write this review. That is how much the Time Walkers series has gripped me so far.

Well done E.B. Brown. More please!

In ‘Return of the Pale Feather’; the second book in best-selling author E.B. Brown’s ‘Timewalkers’ trilogy we return to 17th century America and the growing conflict between the English and the Powhatan tribe. Maggie and Winn have developed a life for themselves outside the tribe with Winn serving as an ambassador between the tribe and the English. Soon their lives are affected by the return of a legendary warrior known as Pale Feather.

Pale Feather’s return serves as a building block that fills in some of the backstory of the first book and sets the foundation for the proposed third book in the trilogy. Once again E.B. Brown brings us an engrossing journey through early America while expanding the story with a fine dose of Norse mythology that enriches the story and characters for the better. In fact, at times, you feel Ms. Brown is even more comfortable writing about Norse myth than she is Native American myth but she manages to mix them well.

Brown deftly plays the conflicts between her various characters, as the second book is more about internal conflicts than external battles. The fight for relationship dominance between Maggie and Winn again offers some emotional and playful scenes as both characters continue to grow with each other. It results in E.B Brown’s restrained style of erotic tease that works perfectly enough to get any reader in the mood.

As ‘Return of the Pale Feather’ reaches its conclusion, Ms. Brown hits every emotional note as blood is shed, bonds are made, and new pieces of the Timewalkers legend are revealed leaving the reader hungry for the next book.

I was only able to read the preview, but I have to tell you...on the heels of The Legend of the Bloodstone, I know for a fact that this book will not let anyone down. If you love Maggie and Winn, and their adorable daughter; you will love reading the continuation of their story. I downloaded Bloodstone on my kindle when I was searching for something to read. I never knew how deep I would connect to it. I long for the next chapter and look forward to this next installment. I have a feeling that Pale Feather is linked to Maggie's past, which is going to be very unique! I am hoping to find clues as to whether or not Benjamin made it back to his father and whether or not he had any memory of his life in the past. I wonder if the future has been changed? All these questions, I desire to find answers for. I WOULD READ ANYTHING FROM THIS AUTHOR!

I enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one takes the story to a new level. The mix of the Viking culture with the Native American setting was appealing, and the characters and relationship were developed more fully. If you are a fan of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books, you'll love this series.

Marcus is Pale Feather? Ben and Winn are Brothers?

Oh Shit! I was totally enraptured by this 2nd book in the Time Walkers series. I was sad, happy, scared, annoyed, sorrowful, enraged . . . all in the course of 1 book. Well worth it.

Brown has once again delivered. This, the second book in the series, is a fitting follow up to "The Legend of the Bloodstone (Time Walkers)". It's pretty obvious she is a student of history because she incorporates it so well in unexpected ways into a time travel fantasy.

We join Maggie and Winn with their small band of outcast two years after the events in "The Legend of the Bloodstone".

Maggie and Winn struggle to find a place to call home for not only themselves and their daughter, Kwetii, but also Winn's two brothers, a sister, a nephew, and Rebecca, a young English girl, who was saved by Makedewa, Winn's youngest Powhatan brother, during the 1622 Massacre. Trying to avoid the English and not completely trusting the Paspahegh people they have to move frequently trying to keep their small family alive.

Marcus makes a surprise appearance in 1624 looking for not only Maggie but his son, Benjamin. Maggie had thought she had sent Benjamin to the future to his father but he never showed up. Maggie, Winn, and Benjamin are a complicated threesome since for a short time Maggie was married to Benjamin. A time during which she thought her Indian husband, Winn, was dead.

Ok, now comes the hard part for me not to spoil the twist and turns that so makes this a book worth reading. So forgive me for being vague from this point on. :) Hey, you don't really want me to ruin the surprises for you. They're part of the fun. Let's just say that from the time Marcus shows up back in Maggie's life the relationship between Maggie and Winn once again becomes completed.

Maggie struggles even more with trying to fit her twenty-first century feminine mentality with the realities of living in the seventeenth century. Meanwhile Winn has his own struggle trying to decide where he fits with his mixed heritage.

As a nice little subplot Makedewa and Rebecca dance around their attraction for each other. Rebecca has some pretty serious issues.

Expect plot twists, anger over lies, anguish, sorrow and a broken heart or two. Also expect to thoroughly enjoy the read!

What can I say?! I am attaching quite easily to these characters. This book was told beautifully from the points of view of many. There is an excellent surprise in the beginning and the dramatic tension stayed at just the right pitch throughout the novel.
I was happy to hear more from Rebecca and Makadewa! I am eager to see how that plays out. I will miss Teyas, too and hope to find that she is happy.

I was only confused a bit during a part when Maggie was really angry at her guardian for not telling her more information when she was growing up. This didn't make sense to me because she had already learned how she and her family would have been in danger if she knew more information. I read and re-read that part thinking I might have missed something. Maybe I did. But, that behavior by Maggie annoyed me.

I read the first 1/3 or so on my kindle and then did the whispersync with audible. I wish I stuck to reading with my eyes. I have listened to hundreds of books over the years and I can honestly say that this girls narration was the absolute worst! She did Maggie like a whiny 10 year old! Not how I imagined Maggie to sound at all. All of the Indian men sounded identical in a deep monotone, all of the Norse men sounded identical in a deep Scottish-like monotone. She would animatedly cry a line like: "But, I love you" followed by: Maggie whispered. I kept being distracted! That was not a whisper!

Anyway, that is not the book's fault and did not want my rating to reflect the awful listening experience. I can't wait for the next one!

This is the second book in the Time Walkers Series. I loved this book as much as the first one. I was surprised of the return of Pale Feather and who he really was. This book is more about family dynamics then the tension filled romance that the first one is. Maggie and Win have made their own way with their small tribe. They settle in a Norse Village and I thought that was a good twist. There were more cultural differences but it also showed tolerances and coexistence in the story.
I like that the story expands to include some of the other characters from the first book too. We get to know Makedewa, Win’s brother, and see a softer side as he pursues his own romance. Win and Benjamin’s conflict continues to build and will end up bonding them by the end of the book.
I will continue to follow this series into the next book. I’m glad that I stumbled upon it.

Ok so I just got done reading this book a week ago... All I have to say is!!! I can't wait for the next one... It kept me going and wondering what's going to happen next!!! I will say it was a bit of a cliff hanger but in a positive way!!! It's like watching a series on tv with the season finally and have to wait next season for the cliff hanger to be told... It was a great book and for EB brown to keep me on the edge of my seat looking to go on to see what happens next is amazing because I never wonder what happens next when I read I always know or figure it out!!! I have to admit that for EB brown to keep me on my toes is just amazing!!! Keep up the great work Ms. Brown you have a fan for life!!!

I have received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review, so here it is..

3 and 1/2 - 4 stars!!

Loved it!! Even more than the first one!!

A lot of surprises awaits the reader in this one. A lot of twists and turns. And quite a number of losses .. journeys are taken and lots of love in the air.. though for me it was almost a sad ending..

But the thing that caught my attention was the feel that these events actually took place! It was like watching a movie (or more like a documentary); thus, giving the authentic feel to the book.

So, bravo, Ms. Brown :)

Wishing you all the best in your writing and always looking forward for more ;)

Maggie, Winn and their little family are looking for a safe place to settle. But that is difficult in the time period. When Marcus/Pale Feather shows up options become open to them. Maggie struggles with her lack of control and a woman's place, Winn struggles with his own insecurities.

This book lost steam for me because I only like Maggie and Winn and though obviously there needs to be other characters, there was too much of that. I didn't need a front row seat to Rebecca and makadewa courting. It was also getting to the point where the time travel, which I normally don;t like, was starting to bother me.

History with a twist

If you had the ability to time travel and change history would you? Could you alter people's lives for their well being yet knowing your actions will also alter the future ? The characters in this saga are faced with just that.

It is a bit difficult fir my to get into but I have not read the first book. Reading in sequence most likely would have made a difference . I am looking forward to following them in the next book into the future . . . Or back into history .

The first book in this series was free. Just as the tale was supposed to do, it pulled me into a most wonderful string of stories about a young woman of current day who, by the magic of a bloodstone, goes back in time to the 1600s and falls in love with an amazing native American man who wants her to stay. The characters keep evolving in this very dangerous time to be alive and I can't seem to stop reading. I'm on book three and will follow this story to the end. Good job author E.B. Brown!

Marvelous characters and story. I have read books 1 & 2, loved them and highly recommend them. Can,t wait to read the 3rd. I fell in love with the characters and the research of the history the story was built around was impeccable. It runs the gamut of one's emotions and makes you very glad you read it.

This second book unveils a few more surprises for Maggie and Winn, surprises which are welcome to the reader but cause conflicting emotions for the characters.

The book also has some really turbulent moments that eclipse even the intense ones that took place in book 1.

Bad. Really bad. I can’t finish this. It makes no sense, it’s boring and it’s full of bad grammar. I liked the first one quite well but that’s where this story should have ended.

Disappointing

I really enjoyed Legend of the Bloodstone and was hoping Return of the Pale Feather would not only answer questions and expand the story, but would also be just as enjoyable. Well, it did answer some questions, but I found myself getting bogged down in what felt like inconsistencies. For example, why would Marcus, who raised Maggie, treat her like dirt just because he was back in time with his own people. I would assume 20 years in the 20th century might have slightly changed his outlook. Additionally, Maggie's lack of intuition regarding Rebecca's fear of marriage also seemed contrived. Finally, Benjamin's situation and questions about the ability to reuse a bloodlines remain, although, if this is the second book in a trilogy, more answers might be forthcoming.

My other complaint was that the passion of the first book seemed a bit muted in this one. Since that was a big part of the fun of the book, it was a glaring hole in the follow-up.
