Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.

When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.

During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.

Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.

She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres..

She also writes under the name Mikela Q. Chase

Much like book 1, this was cute and fun with the different shifter species. There are still many points of cheesiness, for lack of a better term, and things that just didn't seem to mesh. For example, Denton has never been with anyone else before, yet he knows exactly how he likes his sex? One minute he was this sweet funny characther, and the next, he was a dirty talking sex fiend. It was a little confusing, to say the least.

There is a bit of a strange threat with the salt water crocs trying to take over the territory, and while it gets somewhat resolved, we never really get any answers about their presence or threats.

Broden and Carey are off on their honeymoon and are little more than mentioned, though we get to see little smidgens of Harris and what he is like, big softy bear that he is.

I liked the introduction of the bird shifters and look forward to reading about Marty and Eaton.

Again, I read out of order, but I have to say, it can be read alone.
The blurb doesn't really match the story in my opinion, Denton doesn't seem to find Isaac annoying or anything like that, as a matter of fact he doesn't even have to think about asking him for help as the blurb suggests, he's the first one he goes to when he needed help.
Denton and his band of friends who are as close as brothers all live together and we also get the next shifters book set-up nicely in this one.
It's a quick read, a fast fix for my Mate-growl or in this case -purr-claim- mine-possessive read. The couple got their act together quickly and happily and there was actually very little sex in this book-color me surprised. I did like the croc behavior Denton exhibited as a person, I always like when the 'animal' side comes through a bit.
The baddies are salt water crocs and that whole storyline is left open for the next book.

Highly disappointing second installment in what I thought was going to be a great series by a great author.
To say nothing exciting happened in the book is putting it mildly. I kept hoping something great would Happen!! There is LITERALLY no point in reading this book at all.
There wasn't exactly a problem with the characters, in fact I really liked Isaac and Denton. but their relationship was one big marshmallow. At one point at the end of the book Denton ALMOST gets mad right away but then. ..doesn't. which is just like this whole book. It was almost good. .. then wasn't.

I liked this one better than the previous book in the series, To Have a Human. Mostly because of the different type of shifters - a crocodile and a puma.

I liked that Denton, the crocodile, was both self-confident but uncertain. He would be so cocky at times but then be almost uncertain to ask a question. I found it really cute. Isaac, the puma, is pretty much just cocky and possessive from the beginning. While both characters don't have much depth, they do make a good couple together and Denton sure does know how to take charge when the situation demands it!

I liked that that we got to see both Denton and Isaac in shifter form, especially getting so much of Denton as a croc. Unfortunately, this book started off going towards one conflict but ended up veering in the opposite direction. It felt weird that the salties were such an issue in the beginning but then we deal with almost exclusively the problems with Marty's flock. Since that happened, the conflict with the salties was very disappointing and anticlimactic and is actually told instead of shown at the very, very end. I was hoping for a lot more out of this especially because of Denton's past. To be honest, I was really liking this story until the end but because of the suddenness of the ending and the lack of showing the resolution to the salties, my enjoyment waned a bit.

Overall, this was an easy and fun read but like with the previous story, it had a lot of potential that just wasn't achieved. Still, I can't deny that I like the series and I'm looking forward to reading about Eaton and Marty and hopefully seeing Harris get his own mate, gotta love those bear shifters!

After eagerly awaiting for it to be released, I'm quite disappointed with the book.

Reasons:

- The salties conflict was more like a perceived threat. After chapter 1, they were just mentioned in passing and there were only second hand encounters.

- WTF and highly inappropriate behaviour by Denton. Smiley

- Ending was just blah...

I struggled to finish this and felt suffocated. Didn't enjoy it. Smiley

As a reader I really feel short changed by the ending to this story. So many questions left unanswered. Mainly, where did the salties come from? who was their leader, was he the same bask/float from down under? What happened to the battle? We just get the " the bad guys went boom". Then all is well, Im still scratching my head.

I really like this series. I love how funny it is and how big alpha guy isn't always the strongest. This one was slightly more traditional and not quite as funny but I still thought it was great. I love the characters and how the humans are the scariest bad asses there are. It's sweet and funny and they're all adorable.

Isaac was really great but he kind of went on and on about how he was going to spend the rest of his life making sure everything was wonderful for Denton. I got the point after the first several times he said that.

I wish there had been a big climax . There was too much about the next couple who are in the next book so I'm not sure how that one is going to go. I love them though.

One of my favorite lines from the book is: "You know this won't work, right? I mean, you're a puma and I'm a crocodiles. We're one animal away from a bar joke."

I really love how Kell sets her stories in a place she knows and loves: Seattle. She gets it right, unlike the scads of people who set their stories here for no reason and probably have only visited once if at all. I'm a sucker for people who love Seattle like I do.

Great story and I'm on to read the next one.

I feel the blurb for this was a bit misleading. From the way the blurb sounds it seems like Denton finds Isaac(the "obnoxious puma") to be a nuisance and so I expected there to be quite a bit of wooing. Sadly, there wasn't....

There was a bit of bouncing around in this book (i.e. goes from one scenario to another in a blink of an eye...bad transitioning I guess you could say). I also felt it would have been better at the end if the author hadn't summarized what happened to the saltwater crocs and had written a detailed description of the actions they took. Also I think it could have used a bit more character development.

I was really looking forward to reading this book and it may have fell a bit below expectations for me but I still enjoyed it. It has some sappy romantic moments and the MC's were likable.

Ah, I can’t get over how sweet this is. Worse, I now want very badly to read the other two books in the series. This one really went deeply into the next one already. Damn it!

Reading this restored my sense of balance and good mood. It’s amazing, really.

But yeah, this was a very sweet book and I completely love the focus on plot. The attractions are strong, but even there it’s less about sex and more about devotion and mush. Love that so much. A hint at possibly versatility just about sealed the deal. This was a cute, cute book. Not long or overly deep or perfectly polished. But oh so satisfying.

I do like Amber Kell’s shifter stories and really liked Denton, a crocodile shifter has so much potential, I just feel it was all wasted in this book, however even with the plot holes and rushed ending I found this to be an enjoyable book, a nice easy read and a pleasant way to spend a few hours. If you like Amber Kell’s writing and can ignore the blub, just go with the flow of the story, then this book is exactly what you’d expect, if however you want the story promised by the blurb then you will be disappointed.

Josie reviewed this book for Mrs Condit & Friends and rated it 2 1/2 sweet peas. Her review is to be posted April 25, 2013 at http://mrsconditreadsbooks.com/index....

This story wasn’t as well plotted as the first, it started off interesting, but then petered off in the end with just the reader being told what happened in the epilog.
It was still fun, and I enjoy the characters, but it makes me kind of sad, because I really liked Isaac and Denton, I wanted more for them.

I am worried how much I am going to like Eaton's story, I am not sure how I feel about Marty.

I Actually really, really liked this book but, UGHHH!!! I wished it had gone on just a little longer to the growing issue. It cut off so... so abruptly but... because It's a series, I'm just hoping it really is addressed in the next...
So... I look forward to the third!!

Very poorly written. Story lines were abruptly dropped, while others were quickly wrapped up on the last page. There's no relationship build up for the two main characters. The quality of Amber Kell's works is usually much higher than this, and I'm extremely disappointed.

3.5 stars - This was a quick, easy read. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book, but I still liked it and totally LOVED Denton. I'm really looking forward to Eaton's story in the third installment, because I've loved him from the start.

Nothing too complicated...just your average crocodile and puma shifter..."you're my mate, I love you, mine-mine-mine".

Fun, light and easy read.

This was a lightning quick shifter romance that featured the decidedly unconventional mating pair of a puma and a crocodile. OK, so maybe it's a bit unusual, but it certainly worked for Isaac and Denton as well as their feline and reptilian counterparts.

The two shifters had been admiring each other for sometime before the start of the book, so their pairing occurred pretty early on. Against all odds and everything else we know about the animal kingdom, it turned out that the puma and the crocodile were meant to be. They even sealed the deal and made it official with a very sexy and alarmingly toothy mating ritual.

In truth, this book was absurd, a bit cheesy and a exceedingly cutesy. But somehow, it worked for me. I enjoyed the hell out of it! As ridiculous as it was to see two deadly predators snuggling up together with their scales and whiskers proudly on display, the unlikely adorableness of it all made me smile.

Recommended for fans of M/M shifter books who find themselves a bit curious about how it came to be that a puma and a crocodile were fated to be mated.

There wasn't really a story. There wasn't even a real conflict and at the end of the book the readers are only informed that the supposed conflict has been resolved!
So what was the reason behind writing this book? It doesn't even fall under the PWP category !
After all the author is expected to deliver something, if the story is not a free download!!!!!
Did I mention lack of proof reading and as a result tones of editing problems??

**Grammar**

This book starts with Denton swimming at night in the lake. He is ready to go back to his house when he gets attacked by 2 shifters, 2 salty crocodiles, the same species that years before had killed his parents, before Carey's father had took him and raised him as a son. The 2 men say to him that he and his friends need to leave the city, bcs now that they are here they dont want any other shifter in their territory.
Carey and Broden are having their honeymoon and Denton doesnt want to call his best friend and ruin it. The next best thing he thinks about is going to Isaac's house. Isaac is Broden's best friend and part of his pack, when the puma shifter sees his mate beaten up and at his door, the only thing he wants to do is go and kill who had the courage to hit his beautiful mate.
Denton feels secure with the puma and deep inside he knows that is like this bcs Isaac is his mate. The puma feels the same, but he also knows that Denton is young and probably without experiences and he cant possibly claim him as a mate so fast. They pass the time cuddling till Denton heals and they are ready to go track this new pack of shifters in town, and the scene is really cute and sweet.
Isaac is jealous of Denton's friends and of the fact that they seem really touchy with each other, but he is not the only one, bcs we will read also about Denton's jealousy and i found this part really interesting. I liked the fact that the sex btw them happens only after Isaac asks Denton if he wants to be his mate and the other answers yes.
Their mating isnt like the one we saw for the first couple in the last book. They dont start their relationship on a one-night stand but on love. Isaac has never let another man take him, but he is willing to let Denton be the first, and at the same time we knows that Denton is a virgin and Isaac will be his first and only for the rest of their life.
Their first time together is sweet and tender at start but soon their passion changes it in a more sensual and rough experience also if Isaac never stops caring about his mate well being, and would never do anything to hurt him.
This is how they both want it and when this happens, it actually makes sense in the plot. Is not a scene wrote just bcs we needed sex, but bcs now Isaac and Denton have reached another phase of their relationship.

In this book we see again also the bear Harris and Eaton the eagle, Denton's friends and a new char, his name is Marty.
Marty is an hawk and Eaton's future mate. Eaton is in love with the hawk but all know that Marty is a playboy. The thing that others dont know is that Marty likes Eaton too, they are mates and both pretty jealous and possessive of the other. We can see this for example when Denton tells Marty that Eaton had been on a blind date and the other shifter gets jealous and asks Eaton if he had liked the other man and if something had happened. Eaton may be a virgin (am sure about that), but he knows what he wants and is Marty. All the time the man left for the winter (hawks go to hotter places when winter) he was never able to forget about him, and we later will learn about the fact that Marty wants to leave the position of alpha of his floak to be with Eaton. They still havent confessed their mutual feeling of love, but the reader knows that they are madly in love with each other.

When Marty gets kidnapped, Eaton and his friends go rescue him, and they find Marty beaten and in a coma. The book ends with the hawks and Eaton's friends destroying the salty crocodiles' pack and at the same time Marty still in a coma.

In the last pages we see Isaac and Denton, that now lives with his puma, being happy, but still worrying for what will happen now to Marty and Eaton.

Also this book needed more explanations, for example how did the battle really go? why were the other crocodiles here?, but leaving these questions out, this book was still way better than the first one, and the main couple is really good and i liked them.

I loved the first book, To Have a Human, I was excited to read the next book in the series. This continues parts of the storyline from the first but could easily be read as a stand-alone.

I’m not going to lie, I devour pretty much everything that Amber Kell writes. I could probably happily read her shopping lists. This is such a fun world that makes me love shifter romances all over again. This story follows a freshwater crocodile named Denton Stills, who’s living in the cold waters of Seattle, Washington. The idea of a crocodile and a puma being mates definitely intrigued me.

Ms. Kell pulls it off beautifully, this is a beautiful M/M love story. Yes, there are some sexy scenes but at the core this is a sweet romance. I adored the two main characters by then end, and their friends and families all need their own stories so I can immerse myself in this world all over again.

I highly recommend this story for the sweet romance, the world building, and the sexy shifters. So grab this book, and maybe the first one too!

I bought this book with my own money. I was not compensated for my review.

2.5 to 3 stars..
Since I lost track of book one and keeping up with this series.. it's like playing catch-up.

I'm houenstly not sure where I stand.. While on one hand I did find it cute and enjoyed the differing sides of Denton when the situation calls for.. the business with Marty (and him being an alpha) makes me wonder how I'll reconsile seeing him as less than alpha status when the time comes. But back to the current boys... Issac has known and been preparing for Denton as his mate for a while.. WHY?? Not the preparing part but why has it been MONTHS without trying to make progress with his mate? And then, why didn't Denton know they were mates? Upon getting close enough he obviously could tell his croc was making mating noises (big waving flag there)

The addition of the saltwater crocs didn't seem to go anywhere..Felt like some random conflict thrown in to have conflict. Denton said himself that all crocs are big on hotter climates. Not where they are currently living so why are they all of a sudden here and what are they up to? None of these were even remotely answered.. at least some hints would have been good.

Plus the ending was a bit abrupt..
All in all, I could say it's a cute read but definitely lacking when compared to the first book.

Freshwater crocodile shifter Denton Stills has taken on the role of the main protector of his friends while their human friend Carey is on his honeymoon. But troubles crop up when Denton is attacked by his natural enemies, the bigger saltwater crocodiles who are set on taking over Seattle as their new territory. Fortunately for Denton, his future mate, friends and Carey’s father are more than wiling to come to Denton’s rescue.

To Catch a Croc is the second book in the Banded Brothers series. The friends are actually non-related orphaned shifters adopted by human Carey and his father. They formed a band to support the household; however each man has a budding profession other than music. Denton is the band’s guitarist; he has a tough guy’s persona in public but around his adoptive family, Denton is a protective very considerate man. Denton also discovered he has an implausible shifter mate; nevertheless their human personalities are a good match.

Amber Kell has created an enjoyable laugh-out-loud action saga blended with a sweet romance. I look forward to the next installment.

While I'm sure there are reasons for having one brother's story at a time, when the stories are only a little longer than 60 pages, it feels like an attempt to lure more money out of my pocket. I like the stories, but there just isn't enough interaction between the two main characters because of all the set up for the next two in the series. Please consider either making the shorts longer, or only set up one future story in order to focus on the story being told.

I liked the first one alot but this one seemed very disjointed and fragmented. It felt kind of like parts of a story put together. I liked both MC's and I really liked the whole Croc thing which is different in the world of shifters. The ending epilogue was completely anti-climatic and very disappointing and actually dropped a whole star for me. I hope the next one is better as this one gets just an "OK" from me.

It was cute and funny but one thing I didn't get: when exactly the relationship between Denton and his puma shifter mate progressed from "I may want you in my life" to "I'll stay with you forever!". There wasn't much developement and really nothing much happened in this book. It's more a chapter of the longer story than a standalone volume. Anyway, the guys were cute as ever so I will forgive the shortcomings.

Enjoyable story, but too short and a little bit too rushed! I thought there was going to more about the 'salties' .. what happened? The 'salties' plot could have been expanded to include more about motive, resolution/continuation etc.
