Life or Death? Not many people would choose death. But what if death chooses you? What if death doesn’t mean the end of your life, but the beginning?

For a Death Escort, death is life. Death is your paycheck. Death is your job.

And Charming is the best Escort the Grim Reaper has ever had.

But when you piss off the Reaper, being the best doesn’t matter. So Charming is assigned a Target who is practically impossible to kill. He knows the Reaper hopes he fails—that he’s counting on it. So Charming vows to prove him wrong. He vows to make the kill.

But someone else vows to get in his way. Someone with a big mouth, a sugar habit, and blond hair. Someone who makes his heart start beating again.

And so Charming is left holding more than one person’s fate in the palm of his hand. He thought the choice would be easy, that there really wasn’t a question at all.

He was wrong.

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

Thank you Cambria Hebert for taking a chance in the NA world. This book was hot!

This is the second book in the Death Escort series but can be read as a stand alone too, thought the characters from book one appear and their story is also interwined a bit with this one. (Well, I suggest you read book #1 first). Anyways... this is the story of Frankie, a headstrong and full of life heroine and Charming, the best Death Escort, a cold and calculating man who can charm his way through anything.

Frankie knows exactly who Charming is and what is his job (read book one) so she decides to stop him and don't let another Target get killed, cause that's what Death Escorts do, they kill Targets for the Grim Reaper to collect their souls. So Frankie starts getting close to the Target and at the same time close to Charming, until the inevitable happens and she falls for him. But what is more surprising is that Charming is falling for her too, even after 90 years of being a cold hearted, killing machine.

This book was amazing. Both Frankie and Charming are great characters, with strong personalities, full of passion(and lust). I loved the way they kept fighting with each other all the while watching them fall deeper and deeper in love. They had no power over what they did to each other. It was all so magical and god, the chemistry between them was overwhelming! Having these kind of main characters this book had so much more hot scenes than the first one. Actually the first one was more of an YA book but this one bordered on adult. Still it was brilliant.

It was a torture to see how Frankie wanted Charming but still couldn't accept the fact that he killed for a living. And then even he started getting buried underneath all the guilt. After 90 years of being an Escort he finally started feeling again and that changed him. I love it when the main female protagonist brings the best out of a bad boy.

I loved every single scene Charming and Frankie had together. And then there is this great ending. With some mysteries still left unsolved for the next book. Cambria put these characters through hell and I had no idea how they were going to work things out, especially with the Grim Reaper, but in the end they did. And I was glad that they found their happy ending, especially Charming 'cause he deserved it more than anyone else.

Four and a half stars: Supernatural meets sizzle in this spicy New Adult tale!

Frankie looks desperately at the clock, why wasn't it break time yet? Her body is screaming for a sugar fix! She is in her own personal Hell, which in this case happens to be the Alaska DMV. Her day is gets a whole lot worse when the next person strides up to counter. It is Charming, the same man who recently tried to kidnap and kill her best friend Piper. There is no way she is going to be polite and help him no matter how gorgeous he is and regardless of what her boss the broom rider says. Luckily, his request is something that she doesn't handle so she happily shoos him into a longer line. Yet, she can't help wondering what he is up to. After all, Charming is a Death Escort who kills for the Grim Reaper. Frankie is determined to figure out what he is up to. Can Frankie avoid Charming's charms and foil the Grim Reaper?
What I Liked:
*It is no secret that I am a fan of Cambria Hebert as I have read every book of hers. That being said, Charmed is her best outing to date. This book falls into the wildly popular New Adult category, and I am happy to report that it is something original. This is a fun new adult tale with paranormal flair and a sizzling hot romance. What could be better than new adult blended with the supernatural? It is the best of both genres. I would highly recommend checking this out especially if you are bored of the typical New Adult books that are flooding the market.
*I love that this is a companion book series. You don't need to read Recalled before picking up Charmed since they aren't sequels. Instead, Charmed brings back two characters who were secondary players in the first book. I am a big fan of the companion books because I love that I can jump in at any time without worrying about being lost. Of course, reading all the books does enhance your experience. For instance, I did not like Charming in Recalled. He plays the role of the villain, but this time around, I got to peel back his layers and learn what made him tick. It just goes to show that you can't and shouldn't judge someone until you really know them. I love that Charming made me change my mind about him, as Frankie did as well.
*Speaking of Frankie, if you enjoyed her in the first book, you will love her in Charmed. I love Frankie! Frankie is one of those girls whom you want as a best friend. She is funny, not overly concerned with appearances, sarcastic, messy and she has an enormous sweet tooth. This girl is addicted to sugar and devours it like there will be no more cupcakes tomorrow! I was craving cupcakes after reading this book! I adore Frankie's snarky commentary, especially when it comes to her job. She is one of those characters who will make you laugh. Charming is a solid counterpart to Frankie. He is complex and has a difficult past. I enjoyed learning more about him and especially liked that he was a boxer. It was easy to see why Frankie could overlook his dark side and fall in love with the good man he once was.
*The romance is spicy hot! I always enjoy romances that start out with the couple being at odds, even enemies, and that is the case with this romance. Frankie and Charming do not get along, and their first few encounters are full of antagonistic remarks and witty banner. Along the way, an attraction builds and then it explodes with a hot scene. I will tell you that the sex scenes in this one are just right, they don't go on and on for pages and pages with too much detail. They are steamy and passionate and to the point.
*I like that this is a paranormal series that is different. It features a big, bad guy known as G.R. or the Grim Reaper who bears a striking resemblance to Monty Burns from The Simpsons. G.R. employs Death Escorts to kill targets at his bidding. He keeps dead bodies hanging in his closets like suits! How creepy is that? Along with the Death Escorts, G.R. also has ghost escorts who assist the Death Escorts and keep an eye on things for G.R. Storm is one of these ghosts and he is a a lot of fun! Definitely get this book if you want a unique and entertaining New Adult book with sizzle and supernatural!
And The Not So Much:
*At the beginning of the book, Charming is given a Target to kill which seems to be an impossible task. For the first portion of the book, the focus is on Charming killing this rich girl. Then things heat up with the romance, and the original story line falls by the way side. Finally at the end, things get back on track and Charming moves toward completely his task. There is a big scene involving the Target and a twist that was a bit shocking, and then it just ends without much resolution. I wanted to know what happened with the Target after the fact?
*I loved the banter between Charming and Frankie at the beginning of the book, it was hilarious and so much fun. I was a bit disappointed that Frankie lost a bit of the snark toward the end. I would love for the tension and sarcasm to have built a little more before the two got all hot and heavy, I love antagonistic romances, and the more antagonism the better.
*I am still a bit confused over G.R. I want to know what makes him tick, what drives him to collect souls and bodies? What was up with eating the souls? Who is the mysterious female soul in his closet? I am guessing that more will be revealed next time out, but I am impatient!
*I was excited to see Piper return, and I was hoping that she would be in a good place. I was a bit sad to find that she was still hurting and alone. I am hoping that things will work out for her.
*This book utilizes dual narratives between Charming and Frankie. I am a huge fan of the switching point of views, but there were a few times where the change wasn't seamless and I thought that details were omitted. One big detail that was left out that bothered me was when Frankie, in an attempt to ruin Charming's chances of getting close to his target, reveals a big untruth about Charming to the Target. She later tells Charming what she told his intended victim. I actually went back and read to make sure I hadn't missed it, but found that this conversation with Frankie and the Target was not present. There is no dialogue between Frankie and the Target regarding Charming, I thought that this should have been included as it is a big important development.

Charmed is a solid entry into the smoking hot New Adult genre. I love that it blends the paranormal with a heated romance. It is the best of two genres. Frankie and Charming are two fun and memorable characters who drive the story. There is action, sizzling romance and the Grim Reaper in this one! If you are worn out of the same typical story lines in the New Adult genre and you want spice and supernatural, don't hesitate grab Charmed. You know you want that sexy cover on your shelf!

Favorite Quotations:
"Once my shift hell at work was over I drove straight to the closest gas station and filled my arms with enough sugary goodness to get me through the next week, or maybe just tonight, and dumped it all on the counter in front of the cashier who took in my haul with his usual disdain. I ignored him to grab some Dr. Pepper, Cherry Coke and Yoo-hoo and added that to my pile."
"I wasn't fat, though by today's standards (which basically said you should look like a stick with a head), some people probably thought I was, but I didn't really care what those people thought. In my opinion, a woman should have a shape; she should be a body of swells and valleys. She should have something for a man to grab on to in bed----a solid form to hold on to in the night---not some twig that he couldn't' even find between the sheets."
"My thighs rubbed together when I walked and someone once compared my booty to an onion (he said it made a brother want to cry.)"
"Are you one of those freaks that counts every calorie they put in their mouth?" I asked as I dug out the giant coffee roll and took a huge bite."
"What if the day that comes before the fresh one is so full of clouds and they cast shadows that follow you al the way into the new day?" "Usually even on the cloudiest day, the sun will find a way to peek through at least once."
"What does one do when they find a body hanging in their closet? Scream? Run? Try it on?"
"But there were people out there who didn't care about hard work or integrity. There were people out there who wanted to take the shortcut to success and their shortcut involved knocking down the people in their way."
"I took the very girly cupcake, the pink plate, and the pink cup and went to sit at the empty pink table near the back. If a guy wasn't careful, he might find himself turning into a pansy in this place."

I purchased this book. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review.

Before writing a review for Charmed I will tack in all of the things about Recalled that ticked me off. Because they are operative to understand why I liked Charmed so much better and I am too lazy to go write another review for Recalled.

Things that were wrong with Recalled Spoiler Alert!
-Dex took the Grim Reaper's deal a bit too enthusiastically without thinking of all the repercussions, i.e. the fact that he was NOT a killer.
-Piper's belief that being with Dex was like betraying the-boy-who-died.
-The fact that I still do not know Dex's REAL name.
-The fact that I could have killed Piper four hundred and twenty one times if I were Dex.
-The fact that GR gave Dex two freaking months to kill a girl he could have offed in two minutes.
-Charming being like a bad Bond villain who was all bark and no kill. It was annoying. HE was supposed to be the BEST DAMN ESCORT.
-Dex's monologues. They got on my nerves.
-GR's threats about Recalling. Idk, they just pissed me off.
-Piper's visions were just a plot-device rearing out when convenient and hiding when not.

Ohhhhkayyy. Now that they've been put forth I'll make clear that I was impressed with Hebert's writing and her smooth style of injecting humor in her words. I was annoyed at Recalled but I did not really ever HATE it. Cambria Hebert actually won my respect on that one with that fucking shocker of an ending she pulled. Kudos. (And I now think I really should've written a review for Recalled).

Charmed, well, I absofreakinglutely loved Charmed. TOTALLY HOT. TOTALLY AMAZING. TOTALLY THE MIX OF SWOON AND SPUNK AND SNARK AND LOVE. AND HE WAS THE BEST DAMN ESCORT. IGNORE THE BAD BOND VILLAIN COMPARISONS. HE IS EVEN BETTER THAN BOND HIMSELF!

Charming's name is awful. It is so awful that it fits his I-am-a-God's-gift-to-women attitude perfectly.

Let's put Charming in this way. He is an arrogant asshole who kills for a job and does not give a fuck about it at all and... that's it. He's sexy and he knows it. Insufferable pig. You know what he's actually like?

He's actually like the Dante Walker I pictured for The Collector by Victoria Scott would be and did not get. (Just read that blurb and imagine the sexy mofo that jumps out in your head. Add two more pints of sexy and you get Charming.)

And Frankie - oh God, she's perfect. Perfectly annoying, cute and the exact opposite of Charming. Reading Recalled I could have NEVER pegged them to be a couple but reading Charmed I cannot see it going as anything else.

The story is interesting and you cannot guess what the characters will do - even if it seems so obvious at first. I have to give it to Hebert, she is not afraid of taking crazy plot leaps. And that works for me.

I missed Frankie and Piper's friendship in this book. It seemed bland compared to Recalled. But the moments that these two girls were together, they showed perfect camaraderie and girl-power! Even though Charming was perfectly insufferable and the star of the book, Frankie did not let him overshadow her and kicked his ass whenever.

And also, Charming does boxing. So sexy. LIKE SOOO SEXY. Especially in the prologue. Hot damn.

And he is a badass.

And he calls Frankie George.

And he rocks.

And he does whatever the fuck he wants.

And he gives shit back to the GR. And does not get lost in boring monologues.

And did I mention again that he is a badass?

I LOVED THE GUY!

This is actually what NA books should be. Fun, adventurous, sexy. Not broken tales of broken heroes and broken heroines trying to piece back their broken lives (not that I have anything against them but they are getting a tad bit too repetitive).

4 Charming Stars

PS. Am I the only one seeing a Storm brewing in the third book because of Piper's music? ;) And me thinks GR is also going to want some affection he has been denied for centuries... Hmmmm....

And so just minutes after I lived the moment that defined my life forever… I also lived the moment that would forever define my death.

I liked Recalled (the first book in the escort series), and when I heard that this was going to be a series I was super excited. I love the new take of the Grim Reaper created by Cambria Hebert- it is a little creepy, but original :). I will admit that I did not like Charming in Recalled, because he was portrayed as the bad guy (which he was). But after reading Charmed I completely feel in love with his character. There is just so much more to Charming's character that we did not see in Recalled.

Usually my charm, looks, and money got me to the finish line.

Who is Charming? Well let me start off by saying that this boy just leaves a trail of Charm where ever he goes. He uses his charm to get his job done as a death escort. But under all that charm, brand clothing, and materialistic life there is a man that lived a rough life, is protective, is honest, and is caring. At the beginning we get the same Charming we got in Recalled-egotistical, charming, cocky, and a real jerk. But getting deeper into Charmed we get to see the true person Charming really was when he was still alive. And after reading all that he suffered, and what he sacrificed to become a death escort I fell even more in love with him. Plus this boy is just ozing sex. Trust me when I say that I had to fan myself a few times, because he is just intense. I will admit that I loved Charming more than I loved Dex :). What can I say? This girl loves her bad boys, and I love that he is a boxer :D!

If I didn’t know what a complete and utter loser he was, I might fall prey to his… well…. his charm. Damn it.

I was actually excited to read and learn more of Francesca (Frankie) in Charmed. The little I did read about her in Recalled really made me feel a connection to her character. Frankie is more spontaneous, daring, sassy, and more full of life than Piper's character in Recalled. I just loved that Frankie did not let Charming's charm affect her (it sort of did) but she did not show it. She played Charming back in his game, and this I absolutely loved! What happens when the player finally gets someone who is willing to play him back? These two are just perfect in teasing each other :D!

Her words struck something inside me that I hadn’t felt in a long time, and I pushed it back, I didn’t think about those kinds of things anymore. I didn’t feel.

When Frankie decides to make it her mission to stop Charming from completing his next job/kill by messing up his plans, everything in Charming's life starts to mess up. Ever since he died he shut down his emotions, because it helps getting the job done. But now that Frankie is injecting herself in his life, he starts to feel things. He feels emotions that he does not want to acknowledge or even want, because it is ruining his job of being a death escort. Will Charming finally surrender to the things he is feeling and finally start living again, or will he shut down the feelings and continue doing his job so no one will get hurt? You are just going to have to read Charmed to find out :D! I really can't say more without ruining the story to you guys, and trust me when I say this book is worth the buy and worth to read!

...the only direction I seemed to be going was toward him.

“But when I’m around you, I feel like there might be some hope.”

Frankie doesn't want to admit or come to terms to what she is feeling towards Charming. I mean who will want to love a man who kills for a living and who tried to hurt her friend? When Charming finally accepts the fact that he is feeling something for Frankie, he wants her to stay away from him. But the attraction and chemistry between these two is just too much for their own minds and bodies to handle. They try to stay away from each other, but their bodies have a mind of their own. I just have to say that Frankie and Charming relationship is one of my favorites. These two are just perfect together! But Charming knows that he can not have a relationship with Frankie, because there is no good that will come out of it, especially when you work for the Grim Repear. That is all I can say without ruining the book :).

Butterflies with razorblade wings.
That’s how he made me feel. It was the feeling that plagued me since we had met, the feeling that took me so long to acknowledge and even longer to identify. It’s exactly what he did to me.

Charmed was one of the hardest reviews I had to write so far, because I can't say much without ruining the book. Like I said before Charmed is a book worth buying and reading :). Cambria Hebert brought the heat, sizzle, deepth, and intensity in Charmed with both Charming's and Frankie's characters!
Charmed just has everything that Recalled did not have and so much more. This is definitely going on my favorite reads for 2013 :D!

Favorite Quotes:
"Sometimes there is beauty in sorrow.”

I suddenly felt like I was standing too close to a flame. Heat seared my skin.

“You aren’t dead. You just don’t remember how to live.”

It’s like he and I were stuck on a carousel—destined to go round and round but never actually getting anywhere.

His hand wrapped around mine. His fingers found their way in between mine and curled closed, pressing his palm against mine.

If I had thought Charming was changing before, I knew it now. It was almost like night and day.

She caught my wrists and pulled them away from her head. “Why is it whenever I try to get away from you, I end up in your arms instead?”

If you've read Recalled, the first Death Escorts book, you may recall meeting Charming and Frankie. But if you have not read Recalled, have no fear, you don't need to in order to enjoy this book and get caught up in the storyline. Charming and Frankie's interactions in Recalled are reviewed enough for you to get on pace with the story. But I loved Recalled and it is the book that made me fall in love with this unique series, so if you haven't read it yet, I do recommend going back to it. You can find my review of Recalled here.

Back to Charmed: First, let me say that I love this series. There is just something so unique and fresh about it. The storyline is quite fascinating and I love that I have no idea which direction Cambria Hebert is going to take us, especially after reading Recalled. I feel like I have no guarantees with how things will turn out at the end of each book. Not that there are cliffhangers. Thanks to Cambria for no cliffhangers! But the books end in a way to close out one part of the story, but there is so much more story to be told and I can't wait to read more. We're dealing with the Grim Reaper for Pete's sake; that dude cannot be quickly dismissed. There were lots of twists and turns with the plot throughout that kept me guessing until the very end. I loved that I was never completely sure of what would happen next or how things would end.

I love that we get to know the cold-hearted Death Escort, Charming, that we met in Recalled. On the surface he is one way - he has to be; it's his job to be charming, cold, and lethal - but every onion has its layers and Charming is no exception. Cambria reveals his layers one at a time and I loved it. And I loved that Frankie played such an important role in revealing who Charming was buried beneath all that cold exterior. And Frankie herself was a fantastic heroine. She's funny, quirky, curvy, and fun, but she's also loyal, feisty, compassionate, and genuine. They also had terrific chemistry, which is apparent from the build-up of all their sexual tension and obvious attraction. And their scenes together-together were quite hot. These are a big step up from Recalled, which was much milder. Fortunately this attraction is more than skin deep.

The interactions and reactions between Charming and Frankie felt honest and real. The world they are involved in is not one that can be easily dismissed or swept under the rug - they're dealing with death after all. They have so much to deal with in regards to the past and present, in regards to individual and potential "couple" needs, in regards to outside factors (like the ever-persistent G.R.). I loved the honesty about how they each had to struggle with the decisions and choices put before them. I also loved how barriers and walls and facades were broken down. What was really fun is reading how their revelations came about, particularly Charming's, and the seriousness but especially the great humor and wit interwoven throughout the book, to guide these revelations.

Bottomline: I loved Charmed. I loved the characters, the story, the twists and turns. It kept me on my toes, kept me fully engaged (until me eyes hurt from reading), and kept me coming back for more. This book has both humor and seriousness, and the blend of the two really drew me in as a reader. I felt satisfied with where the book ended and didn't feel tortured by an unnecessary cliffhanger (as some authors are in the habit of doing). What more can I say except that I can't wait for the next installment of this series!

I have a love/hate relationship with this book since day 1. The reasons as follow: a) I didn't read the synopsis of this book until after I requested it, so I was excepting a whole different story; b) I vehemently disliked Charming as a character; c) Frankie kind of annoyed me in the last novel, so I didn't really see her as a heroine.

In the first few chapters I felt like I was getting up close and personal with a meat grinder. I just couldn't see the logic in Frankie's schemes to derail Charming. After the end of Piper's story Frankie shouldn't even have had any contact with Charming, so I don't see why she makes it her life's goal to get all up in his business.

I also noticed that, in the beginning, Charming couldn't decide whether to fall for her or ruff handle her. It was like one moment he was kissing her and the next "Get the -beep- out of my business woman". I totally hated his ego/arrogance in the first few chapters. Just because he's hot doesn't mean every woman is going to throw herself at him. Please, dude.

If I were to compare this story to book 1, I would say it's a huge improvement. I liked how in this novel the reader actually got some action (and it wasn't the exploding kind *wink wink*) and that the anti-hero actually had a complex background story that sounded believable and not used in all novels ever published.

From that point on, the story got better fairly quickly. Frankie and Charming got some relationship development and everything fell into place. The impossible became possible in the end, which is a turnaround, since book 1 didn't get a happy ending. I didn't predict the ending, which was a great surprise, since I thought they were all going the h*** in a hand basket.

P.S. The covers are magnificent!

Wow--what to say about a book about Death Escorts, the second installment at that. Well let me start with it was one hell of a rollercoaster ride. Each chapter from a different perspective, Charming's or Frankies'.
The man with a red aura/hue around him. We met him in Recalled, not so nice a fella, but then, if your life--scratch that death is based on killing I bet you would be like him too. You either love him or hate him--maybe a bit of both. With a name like his though, you're brought to wonder, is he like fairy tales speak of a Prince named Charming. HA! A man that kills for a living(existence), how charming is that? Attractive wise, he has it in spades, with vibrant green eyes(an instant attention finder with me), abs and muscles galore. My oh my he could woo the pants off any woman with his charm. Within the pages of Charmed, we learn a lot more about Charming, what makes him tick, who he is, how he died, why he is the way he is.
Frankie, I loved her in Recalled, and even more now. We learn more about this sassy woman in Charmed. Also found myself craving lots of sugar(donuts) and cupcakes while reading her parts in the story.
Found myself melting into the pages of this amazing book. By chapters end you needed to know what was happening when left in a cliffhanger with one character, but find yourself following the other. And of course you can not forget our sweet Piper, she too makes a lot of appearances, you learn a bit more too. As does our very vocal Ghost Escort from book one,Recalled, Storm.
What do you get when you add the Grim Reaper, a charming, very attractive male and a very sassy independant woman?? A book that keeps you reading till you hit the very end; Charmed.

Have you ever been Charmed? I can promise you this, no Prince Charming is like this great books Prince Charming.

Cambria takes Death Escorts to a whole new level.

If you've read bk 1: Recalled, you learned GR is a big dou---bag. Pg rated rated kiddies! Lol. Charming, sigh, at first glance he is jerkasarous. But w/ his "charm" I wondered if there was anything deeper. I mean some would think hot men are damaged somehow if they act like "what's in men's underpants". In this case, SO DAMN TRUE.

I won't reveal his true name, yet (I'll wait til I do my amazon review) but in a word. I love it; it "suits" (no pun intended) him perfectly. Also, who doesn't like a boxer? I mean UFC, any MMA sports, boxing is so hot, ESP in fictional romanti characters. His reasons for being a D.E. are justified. No one likes killers, but if you've read Recalled, it's the theme, but getting free of it.

I was shocked but happily so to see Frankie & Charming get so much closer. Their passion gets high and the author isn't afraid to venture into more detail. I love adult/ erotic romance (y idk because the scenes usually make me blush & I just skim but...) and this book isn't like those of Lora Leigh & Maya Banks, Cambria shows their intimacy tastefully without gettinginto the heavy stuff.

I must say Charming, is my new fictional boyfriend. He might have lost his way after his tragic past, but Frankie helped him learn how to love, and best of all, to live.

This book is amazing. I can't wait to get the paperback & ebook!!!

Be ready to swoon! In my personal opinion everybody needs a little Charming in their life!

We get our first look at the amazingly sexy Charming in Recalled the first Death Escorts novel. Although you do not have to read Recalled to read Charmed, I would strongly recommend it. You will be able to better understand certain referances in the book better.

Charming has it all. Money, cars, multiple houses, and any woman he could set his sights on. He made one mistake though. He has pissed off his boss, the Grim Reaper. Now in order to save his "life" he has to complete the new task set in front of him. He's assigned a target and a time frame. Charming seems to have everything under control, that is until Frankie comes crashing into his life.

Frankie has a personality that is larger than life. A very strong woman that will not take anybody's crap. So when she sees Charming for the first time since he kidnapped her best friend Piper, she is overcome with a need to stop whatever he is up to. She knows what he is and she knows that if he has surfaced he is there on a mission. What she doesn't expect is to develop feelings for the man that she hates to her very core.

Cambria has taken the world of the Death Escorts to a new sexy level. I also loved the Marilyn Monroe quotes that were used in the book. Some of my peronal favorites. With a story that twists and turns, and a man named Charming that will have you swooning your heart out Charmed is a definite must read from Cambria Hebert.

As ya'll know I hated the Grim Reaper in the first book and I hate him now, but is it me or did he become more of an a**? "You remember the rules. You fail, you get Recalled. You get caught or put in jail, I won't come get you. I'll let you rot in a cell until your body dies or you get out, and then I'll come get you... to Recall you. Basically, if you do anything but complete the job, life as you know it is over." Charming is well an interesting character we learn that there are many sides to him I really do like the cockiness in him, "you break into my house and then demand I get dressed?" I growled." He, I just love him, "I liked that dress," he growled. "Red is my color." He does a lot of growling when he speaks. Frankie that girl is feisty and is perfect for Charming she keeps him on his toes, and doesn't back down, "I'm sorry, but did you not understand the way I slammed the door in you face?" I said coldly. "It means I don't want you here." When they're together though sparks just fly, "oh yes," she said, her lips curving secretly. "It's your other, shall I say gifts that I'm partial too." As she spoke her finger trailed across my chest and down my stomach." Charming isn't one to see his woman cry, I don't really think he knows how to handle that type of situation, "and stop crying. I really don't like it." Out of all of Cambria's work I say this is her best, I enjoyed hearing about Charming and his ways.

Charmed is the story of the aptly named ‘Charming’ a soul who works as an assassin for the Grim Reaper. Charming is the best at what he does. In fact he is too good and when he happens to upset the grim reaper he finds himself having to prove just how good he can be to save himself from recall.

So how hard can killing one girl be?

Love it or hate it?

I really loved this. I was lucky enough to read Recalled before reading Charmed and so I had the pleasure of meeting Charming and getting to know just what he did to annoy GR so much. Having now read Charmed, I have to say, not only do I appreciate the character so much more but the entire series too! The love hate lust relationship that blooms between the delectable charming and the vivacious Frankie keeps you on your toes throughout the story: You can’t help yourself laughing at the way she really gets in his way. But Charming isn’t the efficient assassin he has convinced himself he is – No he is so much more: More love-able, more damaged, more capable, more fragile and in more danger than he can comprehend. This story is a little bit saucy, a little bit nerve-wracking, a little bit romantic and a whole lot sweet.

Read it.

Read it and then buy yourself a box of donuts or a giant cupcake with extra frosting because that is what Frankie would do…And who am I to argue with a fabulous fictional diva and sugar?

After reading Recalled, I was sure I totally disliked Charming. Then Cambria announced the name of her next book in the Death Escorts Series: Charmed. I thought there is no way this woman can make me like Charming. I mean he is a real jerk, thinks he is God’s gift to women, selfish, and not to mention a heartless killer. He annoyed the crap out me, much the same way he annoyed Frankie. But you know there is a thin line between love and hate. And boy did Frankie and Charming have a love/hate relationship. It’s a wonder they didn’t kill each other. But I grew to like Charming. He can be sweet, caring, selfless, oh and he is totally HOT!
Charming kind of pissed off the Grim Reaper, so now the Grim Reaper is gives him an assignment he is sure Charming can’t finish. Charming is determined to beat the Grim Reaper at his own game. But there is something or more like someone, who decides to get in his way. The way this person makes him feel is starting to mess up his plan. Now Charming must decide to take a chance to live or choose death. Can Charming beat the Reaper at his own game or will he end up Recalled?

I received the ARC In exchange for an honest review.

I read Recalledand was super excited to read Charmed. I enjoyed it more so only because it gave me a better understanding of who Charming was, and how he came to be the way he is, with Frankie still in the picture it was a delight. With old and new characters you will fall in love with this book.
if you've read Recalled, than you must read Charmed, written beautifully with lots of great imagination, this book will have you on the edge of your seat, full of many great moments and plenty of hotness I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Thank you Cambria for this awesome read!

I read Recalled and was blown away, as always when I read a Cambria Hebert Novel. I Read Charmed and fell in love with Frankie and Charming... the depth of personality Cambria Hebert puts into her characters keeps you wanting more. Charmed is a book that you can read time and time again and never get bored. I don't want to give anything away from the book, however act like Frankie: Grab your favorite cupcake and start reading this book. Do Not just add this to your TBR list, make sure it is at the very top! If you have yet to read Recalled, head over to amazon or barns and noble and buy it, while you do that, buy Charmed as well. http://www.goodreads.com/Cambria409

Unforgettable: impossible to forget; very memorable

Song Choice: "Strange Behavior" by Feed Me featuring Tasha Baxter, "I know you care" by Ellie Goulding, "Turning Tables" by Adele, and "Too Afraid To Love You" By the Black Keys so this is where I spend about a good three hours...hehe but not really i pick songs as i go, that i think best to their ability show the tone or some type reflection of the book, so i hope you enjoy the songs i picked, i know i did bwhahaha!!

First warnings: So this is a second in a series, while i suppose if for some reason you are totally and utterly against reading the first one, which i don't know why in God's name you would be because the first one is fantastic...anyways if you were really determined i guess you could read these out of order i wouldn't recommend it because you might be confused, but hey you do what you want, but be be warned this review will be spoiler free of spoilers from this book but NOT THE FIRST. if i let something slip about the first book well i am honestly not all that sorry because well i warned you.

First thoughts: Honestly the moment Frankie and Charming met i was hoping for them to have something more together, and look i got my wish, it looks like wishing stars do work...oh damn i gave away my best kept secret, welp you win some you lose some. Anyways! The point is that this WAS AMAZING. I think i loved this more than the first book, yeahhh i do, apparently Cambria just gets better and better after each read. This was just i don't even know how to say it other than MAGICAL, fantastic, awesome, mind-numbing brilliant, to quote some random reviewer my friend saw once and read out loud to me, "i want to have a baby with this book" I literally am in love with it.

Thoughts on Plot: NOW when i saw that this book was about 400+ pages i was like, wow really? i mean how much story can these two have? And i will admit i have been spoiled with the shorter reads that at most are hitting the 220 pages, if not smaller, and its wrong to say this ever, but sometimes those move faster because they have too, less space to work with, but oh my friends, or not friends if you hate me already, this book had fantastic pacing. There was a lot happening and when i felt like all was lost, and that there was no way out Cambria shocked us all. I loved the relationship between Charming and Frankie, it was light-hearted mixed with very deadly dangerous emotions. I am one of those people that love the relationships that start with fights and hatred. Oh the chemistry! BUT more importantly this wasn't just a book about falling in love, this was a book about a very sexy boxer (not a dog, a fighter) learning how to live, how to feel again. I love that while a good deal of the story belonged to Charming it didn't feel that way, there was enough going on for both of the main characters that it became there story. That is about all i can say about the plot because well spoilers ;)

Thoughts on Characters:

Sooo i am going to do something that i don't normally do but have been doing it more lately actually. yeah i have conformed a little and started doing the casting thing... sooooo without further ado, may i introduce you to my Frankie?

And the man you have been waiting to meet my Charming:

Kay so you want to know how i feel about these cats? good because i am excited as hell to talk about them!

Frankie: sugar-loving, curvy - and damn proud of it, witty, little spit-fire. In other words: readers meet one of my new favorite girl MCs. She is amazing, truly. She is fearless even when she is scared she does what she thinks is right and she does it with flair. I loved her! She made me laugh, she made me proud, and she was very strong character. Frankie was fierce, but still feminine, and she wasn't overtly annoying about, i am a strong woman hear me roar! She was vulnerable when the time was right, she fought when she needed too, and stood on her own two feet. But in the those secret moments with family, with Charming she was willing to be open. She was full of life, and practically coming apart at the seams with love, loyalty, and over-all bad-assery.

Here is a Frankie sass for ya (i love this woman by the way):

"I liked the way I looked and I worked hard to maintain the curves that shaped my body. I wasn’t fat, though by today’s standards (which basically said you should look like a stick with a head), some people probably thought I was, but I didn’t really care what those people thought. In my opinion, a woman should have a shape; she should be a body of swells and valleys. She should have something for a man to grab on to in bed—a solid form to hold on to in the night—not some twig that he couldn’t even find between the sheets."

"My heart would bear the marks from those words, the echo of finality in them, forever."

(turns out most of my highlights and there were a lot of them trust me, were Frankie quotes...)

Charming: OHHH CHARMING, you are on charming devil...yeah i just made that pun. I mean really is there anything sexier than a man who kills for a living for over 90 years, a boxer, and well a bit of a rebel? No, no there really isn't. He never claims to be anything than what he is. And in this book there is real character change....i shouldn't say character change but revealing, there is more than meets the eye, always there is more. And there is sooo much more to his man than a cold-hearted killer and we get to go into the mind of this devilish handsome escort, death escort not the other kind ladies...nice try ;). He was different, while he wasn't bad to the bone, bad bad bad, he was what he was and he accepted that, and he was fiercely loyal, and loving. He is very convincing as well and when i refer to that, he makes us see him as he sees himself and the one person we tend to lie to the most is ourselves, so be careful with this one he will get under your skin, make you fall in love and then spit you right back out again only to find you can never love another...

Want so Charming quotes? Good cause i want to relive them!

"I wanted to tear my mouth from hers, to kiss more than just one place on her body, but her lips were like a drug. A lethal drug that claimed me with a single dose."

"“Because,” I said, leaning in closer to her, “it’s a lot like you. Larger than life. It fills up the space in front of you as far as you can see. And it can be temperamental.” I smiled when she made a face. “One minute it’s crashing onto the sand with great ferocity, but the next moment the waves become gentle and it laps at your ankles like a soft caress.”"

“Tell me you’re mine. Tell me you didn’t bring my heart back from the dead only to make it die all over again.”

So the ending: Good, very very good. Do i think this series is over no. Do I think Charming and Frankie's story is done? yes. Do I think it was beautiful and brilliant, why yes, yes i do. Fantastic.

SSSSooooo if you want to check out more awesome indie authors, or what i thought about the first in this series you can check it out at my blog, don't give me that look, the one like really? come on! because a) i am bothering you about this at the end of the review, b) i gave you everything, this was all the whole review so ;P http://theviolethourbookreviews.wordp...

I liked the chemistry between Frankie and Charming/Oliver, they were pretty hot together but I just couldn't get past Pippers story and how she didn't get her happy ending. Sorry, but that really ruined this series for me. The Grimm Reaper didn't get his "death" like I was hoping. This guy killed innocent people and Frankie was going to kill the Target to help Charming get out if his deal?? Something wrong with justifying murder so the man you love can live? It just felt wrong in so many ways!! There were un answered questions too and it doesn't look like there will be a 3rd book to explain the rest.

Actual rating: 4.5 stars.

I have to say, Charming was not my favorite character in Recalled. But I knew there was more to his story, and I'm such a sucker for mysterious men because I just want to unravel all their secrets.
And so just minutes after I lived the moment that defined my life forever... I also lived the moment that would forever define my death.
Charming has been a Death Escort for over ninety years, and he's the best killer out of all of G.R.'s employees. But that doesn't stop him from feeling the wrath of the Grim Reaper for letting Dex beat Death at his own game. For punishment, he's been given the most impossible task he's ever been assigned, and he has only six months to complete it. If he doesn't he'll get Recalled without a second thought.

But he doesn't count on someone getting in his way. An obstacle who idolizes Marilyn Monroe and has a big mouth. She's also hell bent on exacting revenge on him for what he did to Piper in Recalled. What better way for her to screw up his life than to mess with his job? And although she's as tempting as the sugar she eats, he can't afford to let feelings develop between them. It would only hinder his job if he can't keep his head, and his heart, from wandering off course.

Frankie was an amazing best friend to Piper in book one, and I was really excited for her story. She's the kind of best friend you want; loyal, caring, and always there whenever you need a shoulder to cry on. And Piper needs her more than ever after what happened to Dex, after their happiness was short-lived and stolen by the Grim Reaper. So when Frankie starts developing feelings for the Escort who kidnapped her best friend and tried to kill her, she's determined to keep it a secret. But Piper is full of surprises, and she understands what Frankie is going through, because she fell hard for a Death Escort herself. Even Charming understood Dex's sacrifice to save Piper; because he would do anything to save Frankie, to save the woman he loves.

I just have to say, I LOVED Frankie and Charming's relationship! Hellooooo, Oliver. Oops, I mean.. Prince Charming. Their relationship, throughout the whole book, was my favorite thing about Charmed. It was perfect! Steamy, intimate, funny, emotional, teasing, adorable. It was beautiful, the way they threw away that pesky little thing called hate and actually fell in love with each other. Charming and Frankie helped each other live again. :)
"I've been dead for so long that I forgot what it was like to live. I forgot what it was like to feel. Even still, I'm pretty sure nothing I had experienced was ever like this. You brought me back to life, Frankie. You make me want to live."
Swooooooning. There's a reason they call him 'Charming' and he actually fits the name. I mean, it could be just because of that little gift he'd collected over the years of being the best killer employed by Death. But he really does have charm underneath all that hard, i'm-a-man-i-don't-do-feelings exterior. He has a good heart, even though he was literally tricked and manipulated by G.R. into becoming this killing machine who has no feelings. And now because of Frankie, and his will to actually live life, he wants out. He wants out of being a Death Escort.

But the Grim Reaper will not be played like a fool again. He will not let another one of his employees outsmart him. And he will not let Charming have a happily-ever-after. But G.R. underestimated Charming's cold and ruthless determination to kill, and kill, and kill. He once again underestimated the lengths humans will go to for the ones they love. Love is the one emotion that beats out death. It's the one emotion that the Grim Reaper has absolutely no control over.

With help from Piper and a lovable Ghost Escort named Storm, Charming and Frankie go into battle against Death. Secrets and mysteries are unraveled as everyone tries to outsmart the other. And in the end, all that fighting was worth it. Because that was a happy, happy ending. I needed that after Recalled's nontraditional HEA, yet genius, ending.

I love these characters; I love the new take on the Grim Reaper legend and myth. I couldn't stop reading these stories!

Review of Charmed (A Death Escorts Novel) by Cambria Hebert

Charmed is the second in this series, the first being Recalled. Recalled was the story of Dex and Piper. Piper features in this one also. The main characters in this story are Frankie and Charming, both of whom appeared in Recalled.

For those who have read Recalled you will already know a little about Charming. But this story will explain why he became a Death Escort, and how he got his name.

Charming helped out Dex by 'forgetting' to mention that he had figured out a way to break the hold of the Grim Reaper, or GR as he is known, over a target. This hasn't gone down well with GR, and he intends to have his revenge.

Charming is an escort of a different kind to Dex. He is tasked with charming his targets, making them fall for him and then sign all their worldy goods over to him, before persuading them to kill themselves. He has gained a lot of wealth through his job over the years, and he lives a grand lifestyle as a result.

GR gives Charming his latest target, Rosalyn, a Senator's daughter. She has her own security detail, however, and this leads to his first problem. How does he get close to her? Charming knows he is destined to fail, and that is exactly what GR wants. This way GR can recall Charming, effectively punishing him for his part in the Dex saga, but without appearing to be petty.

Charming knows this, but can't see a way to complete his task. However he finds help in a rather unusual place. Frankie is Piper's best friend, and feels something close to hate towards Charming for his part in Dex being recalled. She can only see the bad in him and is determined to stop him from getting close to Rosalyn as she knows what he is trying to do.

But by getting in the way of Charming's quest, Frankie finds herself getting closer to him instead. She becomes embroiled in his life in a way neither of them could have imagined when they first met.

This story is different to Recalled. I disliked Charming when I started reading this book. But through his interactions with Frankie, Storm (another character we first met in Recalled) and GR, I found myself willing him to find a way to break out of the character he has become, and find his way back to being the person he was before he died.

Can he manage to stop GR? Can he begin 'living' again? Will GR succeed in recalling him?

All these questions and more are answered in this story. I think, actually, that I preferred this story to Recalled. Charming has so many different layers to him, and it takes so much for him to even consider going up against GR. The whole process he goes through within the pages of this story changes him forever and makes him into a much nicer person that when we first meet him.

My favourite line from the book is one from Marilyn Monroe, who features highly in this story!

"We should all start to live before we get too old. Fear is stupid. So are regrets."

Read this story to find out exactly why that line is the most appropriate to describe it.

The Death Escorts series is turning out to be one of my favourites. From the 2 books so far the author is building up to a finale which I can only imagine will be epic! I imagine it to be drawing us to the downfall of GR at last, but I could be wrong. I'm not an author after all. But in my head I'd like to think that the books still to come out will introduce us to many more characters, as well as some we have already met, all aiming for one goal. I can live I hope can't I?

**This review will hopefully not contain any spoilers**

First off, I need to say that I received an ARC of Charmed from the author in exchange for an honest review. So, here goes…

Charmed is the second book in the Death Escorts series by Cambria Hebert. However, it can be read as a stand-alone if you haven’t read Recalled, which is the first book. If you have read Recalled, though, then what happens in Charmed will probably make a little more sense to you.

In Charmed, you discover the back story of Charming, who did have a few brief appearances in Recalled. Charming also happens to be a Death Escort, working for G.R., just like Dex was. Charming is considered the best of the best. He’s been killing people for 90+ years, and he has only had a couple of mistakes. However, his actions in Recalled are what set the events in Charmed in motion…or so you think.

Charmed starts off with Charming’s back story, as I said above. Obviously, he dies, because he ends up in G.R.’s office, making a deal with the devil. He becomes a Death Escort and spends the next 90 years killing people for money. He has it all; good looks, charm, money, immortality. He’s the perfect assassin.

When Charming gets his newest assignment, he realizes that what he did with Dex has resulted in this punishment. G.R. wants to see him fail so he can be Recalled. Charming, however, plans to prove G.R. wrong.

Charming sets out to get to know his Target, the Senator of Alaska’s daughter. He knows once he gets in her good graces, killing her will be easy. Plus, he has six months. What could possibly go wrong?

Enter Frankie, a curvy blonde bombshell who just happens to be immune to Charming’s charm, or so it seems. Frankie first met Charming when he tried to kidnap her friend Piper in Recalled. She despises him, so when he walks into her job at the DMV one day, her first instinct is to call the cops. But she doesn’t. However, she does decide she needs to do a little bit of snooping to find out what he’s up to.

Frankie’s desire to stop Charming doesn’t exactly go as planned. Neither does Charming’s plot to kill his Target.

I won’t say anything more, as I don’t want to spoil the book. It does come out July 22nd, so I’m telling you guys now, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed Charmed, even a little moreso than Recalled. But my heart still belongs to Dex. *sigh* Anyway…

While reading Charmed, I have to admit, I kept picturing Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston as Charming. I couldn’t decide who I wanted to see more, if this ever became a film. lol

The only negative, I guess is the word I want, thing I have to say is I did think the ending was just a tad rushed. I liked the ending very much, but I just thought maybe it didn’t have to go by so quickly. Maybe that’s just me, though.

So, yeah. Even if you haven’t read Recalled, you’re going to want to read Charmed. It is definitely a worthwhile read. Loved it!

"Usually even on the cloudiest day, the sun will find a way to peek through at least once."

This book was so much better then the first one! I adored the first book, but I personally felt that it was missing something, and then I met Charming! WOW! The plot of Charmed was so amazing! I found it a bit confusing for the first few chapters, but then I was able to work out what was going on and who the main characters were! The plot went in a different way to what I was expecting too be honest! I thought that the main female character was going to be a different person to who it was, but I honestly couldn't have been happier with who it was! This book was also so much hotter than the first book! The temperatures in this book were off the scale! It was absolutely amazing and I'm happy that Cambria decided to take that step with making it so much hotter! I was just unable to put it down! It was so addicting to just read a couple more chapters every chance I got! The plot was just amazing! It was phenomenal! Everyone just needs to read it! Honestly! You will fall in love with Charming and devour this book in one sitting! The characters were also amazing! They made this book for me! Charming was the male main character and he was oh, so hot! I don't think I've met a male character that I've found as hot as what I found Charming! Seriously! I have so many book crushes, but Charming is definitely near the top of that list! He was so hot and sexy! I also loved how far he came in this book! Finding Frankie made him more human and I'm guessing for an Escort to find those feelings would be a difficult, but life changing experience! Frankie was the female main character and I loved her! I thought she was funny and I loved her determination with her attempts to stop Charming from doing when he was assigned to do! I didn't think that Frankie was going to be Charming's love interest, but I'm so happy she was! I also connected with her instantly and overall she was such an amazing character! I loved that this book was written from both Charming and Frankie's point of views! This was definitely essential as Charming has such a big background and to go into his head and experience it first-hand was amazing! I enjoyed that a lot of the characters from the first book were back in this book as I adored them all in the first book and they added so much to this story as well as the last one! I know that there is going to be another book in this series for another one of the characters and I cannot wait to read it! I am in love with this series and I cannot wait to see where Cambria takes it next! The cover also suits the book so much! It represents the character of Charming brilliantly as well! It is stunning! Big thank you to Cambria for an ARC of Charmed and also for having me on the Blog Tour!

*****5 Star Review from SAR Blog ~Terri*****

Holy red smoke Batman! That was like the hottest supernatural novel I have read yet!

I absolutely freaking loved Charmed. It was such an opposite of how Recalled was written but I loved both books. Recalled was book one in the series and was a "Contemporary Romance" which recommended anyone 14 and up could read. Dex and Piper's story left me wanting more and that is why I bought Charmed immediately but I also wished there was some type of continuation of their story in the 2nd book but Hebert gave us that unexpected twisted ending and left me in serious mess!

Plus, we never got to find out Dex's real name which was a bummer and their first kiss was at about 80 something percent of the book and I was like what!? Charmed apparently never knew that Dex eventually made it to Heaven instead of Hell and thought he was recalled the whole time. I didn't know why Piper never explained that to Charming or to Frankie so everything was just left to the imagination.

Anyways, back to Charming and Frankie's story, which was off the charts and full of "Hawtness"! Charmed definitely took the turn in the New Adult genre so I recommend anyone 18 or older to read this book. There were some steamy sex scenes and some vulgarity in it too....well, we all know Charming has a bad mouth since he is always in a bad mood.

I loved the action scenes with the Reaper and how the events eventually turned out and always left you thinking what would happen next. I figured this was the end of the series but I still was hoping a continuation in the series because I wanted Piper and Storm to find their happily ever after but not everyone gets one.

WOW!!! That’s all I really need to say! I am completely shocked and in love with this book! Anyways, let’s get on with the review.

I just want to start off saying that it was hard for me to picture myself liking this book after Charming’s introduction in Recalled. I really disliked him and really wanted his ass to be Recalled as well, but in all honestly I fell in love with the book in a few short chapters. I blame Frankie. At first I thought that she was going to be a minor character, just a little bit of information given from the previous book but more chapters went on and she became a major character. :) You are even given glimpses into the life of Piper after Dex, which sadly is a heartbroken woman.

Charmed was a little different from Recalled for one main reason. While Recalled had no type of ‘erotic’ scenes Charmed had some, and let me tell you! :) :) Nahh, I’ll let you read them for yourself!

It was 1920, the year that “Charming” had died and met the Grim Reaper. It was 1920 when Charming was given the opportunity to ‘live’ again and it was an opportunity that he has accepted! It has been ninety years that Charming has been killing for the Grim Reaper. After allowing Dex to break the connection the Grim Reaper had on Piper, Charming was given his punishment and that is where the trouble begins…Rosalyn Elizabeth Kennedy Sinclair, the senator’s daughter. A person who would be very difficult to kill and get the pay load as well and it doesn’t help that Frankie plans on screwing that up for him.

Charmed was an amazing read. It was the type of book that you read a few chapters and forced yourself to put down because you didn’t want the story to end. Now that it’s finished I’m hoping that the next book will give you even more information on their lives after Charmed. I think that the third book would be amazing if it was about Storm and his new job. :) One last thing before I rate this book: the epilogue is my #1 favorite EVER!!! Hands down the best I’ve ever read! It makes me all happy and smiles just thinking about it! :)

My rating for Charmed is 5+ stars! I really hope to gain a signed copy of this book! It was so amazing I would like to have it added to my bookshelf, instead of my kindle! :)

So, I met Charming in Book One, and I am pretty sure he scared me…. I was going to say a bad word, but I’ll try to hold off LOL. He’s a scary dude, no offense. And the funny thing is the word charming makes you think so sweet and fun and charismatic, except Charming is those things, but deadly and he doesn’t mean them! Like woah! Plus, there’s a few new characters and a few old characters, and I of course fanatically love this author, but I am loving this series as much as the Heven and Hell series, but for different reasons! Yes, I said it- this series meets my expectations of the Heven and Hell LOVE! It’s just different, so as long as you realize that, I believe you, too will love it as much as me :)

So, everyone who’s read Recalled knows how Death’s escorts work, but if you didn’t that’s ok, because you can jump right in without missing a beat. Plus, GR, who is Mr Grim Reaper himself, is seriously the most creeptastic scary dude on the planet!!! Yeah, looking like Mr Rogers my ass… Mr Rogers was never that scary! hahahahaha!! Charming however knows this, and he has it in his mind that he’s been the best escort EVER and he’s owed his dues. Yeah this takes us all on the most fantastic ride ever :)

So Frankie and Charming are probably the funnest hottest couple EVER! The are explosive together because they both push each other’s buttons so much! I mean seriously, big scary guy who is a killer holds your BFF at gun point… you DO NOT breaking into his house to find out what he’s doing. HA that’s all in the first few pages. Seriously, it’s hilarious! :) I am definitely a fan of them together!

The writing is always magnificent, but here, I am going to go with SPECTACULAR because there’s nothing else like it. I was hooked, and I still am, because even though you can jump right in, I KNOW there is going to be some big thing with GR in the end. I just really wanna know what. :) Look, all I can say is that if you haven’t picked up anything by this author, you are seriously missing out. I am not sure what you are thinking, but I’ll try to forgive you, and then I’ll bully you into getting it :) a WONDERFULLY MAGNIFICENT SPECTACULAR CREEPTASTIC PAWS!!!

I received Charmed from the author Cambria Hebert as an ARC in exchange for an honest review!!!!

This is the second book in the Death Escorts Series and I love this one even more. I first met Charming in Recalled and thought he was arrogant and I couldn't stand him. Charmed is his story. You will be reunited with characters from Recalled in this story, so I recommend reading Recalled first.

Frankie is Piper's best friend and recognizes Charming when he enters the DMV where she works. Knowing who and what he is she breaks into his house that evening to see what he's up to. When she discovers that he's there on a job she vows to stop him from killing his "target."

Charming wants nothing more than to get out of Alaska and to go somewhere warm. That's when G.R. gives him a job to do. He has to kill a Senator's daughter. The job is going to be difficult enough with a six month time frame but now he has Frankie interfering and getting herself put right in the middle of it.

The chemistry between Charming and Frankie throughout this story is electrifying. They want to deny the attraction they feel for one another but they know they can't. Is what they feel for one another the beginning of something more? Can Frankie really love Charming and be with him knowing that he's a Death Escort? Will Charming be able to kill the "target" or will Frankie get in the way? What will G.R. do to him if he doesn't finish the job? To find out the answers you will have to read the story. You won't be disappointed. Once again another fast paced book with lots of action and emotion.

Thank you once again for another great read Cambria Hebert. I truly loved the book and am pleased to have been given a chance to read an ARC of it. Please continue the vocab words at the beginning of your chapters I do like those a lot. Can't wait for the next book in the Death Escorts Series. Also I would like to thank Charming for making me almost pee my shorts when he flipped G.R. off after stealing his car...loved it!!!!!

I was given this ARC for an honest review.

Let me start out by saying this story was so so much better than the first book. As you may have been able to tell I am serious about characters in a story, they are a definite must have for me. I fell in love with Charming and Frankie in this book. Of course in the first book you knew Charming was going to be the bad boy that you hated to love and well in this book you couldn't help but to fall all over him. And Frankie stood out some in the first book but in the one she just exploded, I loved her and her sassy attitude. I was a little sad that Piper wasn't in it much and I hate that it seems that maybe her story really did end in the first book. Part of me kept hoping there would be more of it in this book and she would get her HEA like Frankie got or have at least moved on. Sigh oh well. I caught myself laughing and smirking a lot throughout this story. I liked this one so much better because you really got to see more than one layer of the characters than in the first book. And trust me now I am going to be on the look out for a green eye boxer who loves Ireland, yummy.

I also was very impressed with the story, it was better developed than the last. It seemed to drag a little in a few places but still it kept me on my toes. I have a feeling there is going to be a 3rd book and if so I will definitely be reading it and maybe getting some of my questions answered. I don't know if I missed or not but why are the souls sometimes different colors? And I am sure we will be finding out more about what G.R. is up to. If so I can not wait. So overall there was lies, cupcakes, adventure, some hanky panky and a body hanging in a closet. So overall I loved loved the characters and even loved this crazy story. So I will definitely be recommended this book to fellow readers when it comes out.

I was so excited to get an ARC of Charmed from Cambria Hebert!! After reading book one, Recalled, I was highly intrigued and loved the world she created about Death Escorts.

This also led me in to wondering if I would enjoy Charmed because after reading Recalled, he was not one of my favorite characters.

BUT...let me tell you, Cambria Hebert completely took me by surprise and brought the WHAM in the pages of Charmed.

So, as I said above, I wasn't too excited about reading about Charming. I mean, what a jerk. What in the world could redeem this guy??
Well, leave it to Cambria to show you that you can't always judge a book by its cover and that there is always more than meets the eye.

In Charmed, we get to see a whole new person. We find out the history of Charming...AND HIS REAL NAME!!

But we also find that love will always conquer all. It's amazing the things that love can do to us. The way we can change to make sure that the one we love is taken care of, that we would do just about anything in the world for them to make sure they are happy.

And who does Charming fall in love with?? Hmmm...should I tell? I really don't want to give anything away....ESPECIALLY if you haven't read book one...

So, I will leave it at that....keep you dangling...letting you know that reading Charmed is really going to change your views on getting to know someone and really looking past barriers.

Cambria Hebert is a phenomenal writer. She creates a unique and alluring world that you immediately fall in to. Full of action and suspense; you are dangling from page to page waiting to see exactly what is going to happen to the characters that you have grown to care about.

If you enjoy reading about the Grim Reaper, the twists that can occur after death, and just an overall interest in paranormal, then make sure you pick up the Death Escorts series...

After receiving Charmed as an advanced reading copy I figured I had better read Recalled first, smart right? Well if you have read it then we all know what I mean when I say I was devastated, if you have not read it yet.... Well your going to have to cause I am not spilling the beans. We were introduced to Charming in the worst way possible (for a character that is) as the bad guy with no heart or compassion who seemed as cold as the arctic. So now fast forward to when I received this ARC and surprise surprise this whole book was about our evil heartless Prince Charming.

As it started it with focusing on Frankie's POV I was not sure what to think about it, but when I realized she was going to be the kink in Charming's plans I cheered! But then as I kept reading and watched as Frankie was falling in love with Charming and vice versa (if you can't tell, I don't like to spill spoilers!) I was yelling NOT AGAIN! I didn't think my heart could take another Recall of two characters that were so much in love with each other yet tried so hard to fight it. Two people willing to risk everything for each other and giving the ultimate sacrifice for love and making the readers feel how strong and deep that is, shows how strong of a writer they are. Cambria made my heart swell bigger than I thought possible to make room for this group of characters than I could imagine. I closed the book and felt like I personally knew every one of them and what I thought made them tick on the inside. We were introduced to some new characters and we got to know some ones from Recalled a little better, and hopefully there will be more to come to see how everyone will grow and bloom into these amazing and fearless personalities like Frankie and Charming did for us in this book.

I read Recalled a few months ago and I absolutely loved it. It had one of those endings that you weren't sure to be happy or sad. I have so much respect for an author that can bring out such strong emotions like that from a book. I was so excited to learn about Charmed from her website.

Anna from Read Between the Lines and I actually had a conversation about this. I was telling her how much I loved Recalled but was kinda bummed that it wasn't steamier. That was a mistake on my part since I just automatically assumed since it was NA. Anyway, Anna was saying that all of her other books are YA and she didn't think she'd ever write something that steamy. Well, Anna, we were dead wrong LOL. The romance in Charmed robbed me of breath. Seriously! Charming is a force to be reckoned with. That man is so sexy that it's sinful. The best part is that he wasn't the only star of the story. Frankie is my girl! She is so funny and I had a blast reading this story. It was amazing to see Charming turn into the man that he is in the end. I'm also glad that it didn't end like Recalled. I think I would have really punched Cambria next time I saw her LOL.

It was great to see a different Death Escort at work since Recalled touched on all the basics. The characters were so different from one book to the next. The best part is that book ended satisfactorily but open ended, like there could be another story. I don't know how she would swing that one but I'd so be down to read that!

Prince Charming is not so charming and his princess is sassy. Charming has worked for the Grim Reaper (G.R.) for a really long time and accumulated a lot of money and power. He’s selfish and totally a butthead. Frankie’s best friend, Piper from book #1 of The Death Escorts Series, stars in this fun, sometimes dark novel by Cambria Hebert. Compared to the first novel in the series, Charmed is full of smoldering looks, angst ridden love/lust, and sexy times.
Charming is charged with killing the ultimate hard to kill client. G.R. is out to get him after he failed his last mission to babysit Dexter from book one. Frankie gets herself into trouble (a lot) and ends up mixed up in Charming’s plot to whack the senators daughter. She poses as Charming’s sister which is fairly awkward throughout the whole book as they try not to make out the majority of the time.
Frankie was quite different from Piper from book one, but I appreciated that the author carried on with familiar character and their stories. There isn’t a dramatic time lapse between novels and it’s easy to see where the story took off. Learning the true grit of Charming’s story was sad and made me not hate him anymore- he was such a louse in book one! Frankie is sassy, goofy, fun, and always poking her nose into trouble. They make a good couple and I hope more novels will follow in this series.
