Phillip Stafford and his wife are harassed by a mysterious woman named Rhea. He's in love with her but she has other plans with the movie magnate. What is Rhea's story? Where does she come from? What enables her to manipulate men and what is her secret of being forever young? This was a very eerie book on witchcraft with interesting flashbacks between past and present. Also the ending was quite good. Amazing horror tale with well carved characters, dark secrets and sinister details at the right place. I can highly recommend this blast from the past. Be aware if you find a fascinating woman stalking you. She could be a witch like Rhea looking for your soul... Highly recommended horror highlight!

Didn't realise this was the same book as Rhea (which I also own but haven't read). Nevertheless Chains is a great read. A heady mix of supernatural, occult and family drama smoothed over three distinct timelines.

In typical paperback horror fashion of the era Chains was published there's a fair smattering of sex infused with the core horror elements.

Whilst the story reads 'complete' I did get the sense that the author was thinking about adding more volumes to the Rhea cannon, however, my online searches yielded no results.

Rhea a gifted 5 years old able to understand Latin buys an old book from a panhandler with the name Book Of Evil bound in human skin. Through her studies she will summon a demon by using chicken blood, candles and chalk and will command her fathers demise and her mothers torment. Her summons also result in man falling deeply in love with her, complete obsession before she gets sick of them and moving on. All this was 179 years before and now she is able to stay forever young and beautiful. Anybody who gets in her way will be burnt alive and another one raped by a demon with a forked penis who stabs and thrusts into her as the two jagged like icicles go into both her orifices at once. She will fall from grace as the devil won't like her getting her own disciples and not serving the highest one adequately. This was also published as Rhea.

If you’re looking for erotic horror of the vintage flair then Russ Martin is a good choice. Satanists, sex, demons and very evil people mix it up in this tale. 3.5 💀
