May contain spoilers ;-)

What I liked:

►The world-building:
It was pretty much like any other urban fantasy world with witches, shape shifter, vampires etc.
What I thought was interesting was the Other council

► The Mothers:
I actually really liked their mothers. They seem pretty irresponsible but somehow I still like them :D

►Lightening:
I found her more interesting than Stormy because of her ability to feel other peoples emotions. Also she was not just Storms cousin but also her best friend and together they were a little crazy. (the cute kind of crazy)

►The wolf-shifters:
I really want to know more about them especially about the war that is (about to?) taking place. But I think this might be more relevant in the next book.


What I didn't like:

► The names...
It was hard enough to get used to the names Stormy and Lightening but did their lawyer really need to be called Reason??

►The Past:
Here I mean the one centuries ago. I didn't like the writing style for this part. The dialogs were bad! No one talked like we do now in the past.

► The D/s theme:
I don't know why this was necessary. I have read enough books with this theme to know that this wasn't really one. Expect for telling Storm where to go and what to wear, there wasn't much of a D/s relationship between them. So it would have been better if this wasn't part of the book.

► Stormy:
Omg, I wanted to slap her. How can someone be so stupid?!! I get that she didn't want to know about the Others but... really? She didn't know that Knox was a Shape-shifter nor that he was related to Ryker. There were soooo many clues about all that and she just didn't want to see that.
She was portrait as a intelligent girl but didn't behave like one. That Luke thing is proof enough!


Mixed feelings:

►The Prologue:
This was a really strong start. We got to know a little bit about what happened centuries ago to Solistar the ancestor of the main characters. I really wanted to know what happened and to her and what roll this played in the actual story.
In the first chapter I could see similarities between the Past and the Present:
Stormy=Solistar; Knox=Tiber; Lightening=Chance; Kaydee=Bianca; Luke=forgot-his-name-guy

But as Storm's story begins there is no mention of Solistar because she doesn't want to have to do anything with the non-human part of her. So when Storm decides to learn something about her family curse it seems like this came out of nowhere. And then Tiber appears in her dream...idk if this was just me but it didn't feel right to me. There was just so little information about what happened in the past so that I didn't feel the actual connection between Knox-Stormy and Solistar-Tiber.

►World-building:
It was a lot like other Urban Fantasy worlds. Still I found it interesting because of the Other Council and especially the Credence Family.
But I have to say I'm disappointed with how much we learned about this world. We got next to none information on it -.-

►The Curse:

”All of us are destined to be buried alive in a sea of loneliness and life devoid of love.”

Translation: Every man the Credence women fall in love with will die soon after.

So, I liked this part(muhahaha) but this aspect of the book was shoved into the background.
And I have a hard time believing that nobody ever suspected that there wasn't a curse at all -.-

Breaking the Storm is fast paced, crazy ride full of wonderful surprises and sexy times that’ll make your insides wrench, melt and jump in extasy. This novel is fantastic breath of fresh air that every fan of paranormal romance and urban fantasy will appriciate. This book has everything a girl like me needs in 5 star read, it’s sexy, thrilling and has kick ass heroine as well as swoon worthy alpha male to crush on. Pure perfection! And well, as everybody knows great cover is just another plus ;)

This book’s full of rock stars, werewolves and Doms! What’s not to love?



Breaking The Storm is a story about Stormy Credence and curse that falls on every woman in her family. Every men they fell in love with die and to the mix that being a hybrid Fae/witch don’t make her very popular, she struggles in the world of Others. She’s assets I love the most in protagonist: she’s feisty, brutally honest and kick ass. Until she meets Knox Gunner, Storm believes, she will never fall in love and be another Credence woman who was mentally destroyed by the curse.

„But, Storm, get this once and for all; I need you. I always will. And if that’s not close to the feeling of love, then I don’t know what is” ~ Knox

Knox Gunner is extremely sexy rock star with Dom streak. Mysterious, dominant, dangerous and he always gets what he wants. And this time he wants Storm on her knees before him, totally submissive.

„What type of woman are you looking for, Mr. Gunner?”
With a dangerous smile, he responded, “I want a woman who will be completely at my mercy.” His voice was low and sensuous as his gaze flitted over me, kissing my skin like scorching flames. “Someone to play with.” ~ Knox

Knox Gunner is literally to die for. My kink for alpha male was always present and this sexy rock star provided me with crazy sexual roller coaster ride, even if it was only on paper (how bad). Steamy scenes were so hawtt that my all body tingled with need and I extremely enjoyed fight for power between Storm and Knox. Their relationship was insane! Back and forth from hate to lust, to love and so on. It amazed me how easily Storm could find a comeback for Mr. I-want-you-to-be-my- slut. In few books, talks like this could turn me off and made me hate hero, but fortunately it was not the case here.

What I liked the most was the fact that D/s relationship wasn’t about humilating or pain. There was not spanking or flogging involved, the same about bondage. It was only hot dirty talking with power exchange, which was absolutely arousing and exhilrating.

I also adored how paranormal world worked there. This twist made this book a hell lot of better and the concept with curse was fresh and unique. For a fan of werewolves, steamy sex and fiesty protagonist this book is a must read!

Overall, I highly recommend reading Breaking The Storm! Perfect mix of rock star romance with paranormal twist and D/s sex.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for... KNOX!!!

I need book 2 NOW!!! There is no relationship cliffhanger but this story is far from over.

Rock stars, Werewolves and Doms all in 1 book, how could I not love it.

The prologue to this book had me hooked straight away, this book was interesting, fun & had me intrigued the whole way through.

The story is about Storm Credence and Knox Gunner who meet and instantly have an attraction to each other but Storm's family's curse is whenever a Credence falls in love their lover dies. It’s a heartbreaking and painful past for her and her ancestors. Stormy ends up pushing herself away from Knox to save him as she starts to feel more and more for him. But later down the track he comes back and goes full steam ahead at getting her back and TRUST ME it’s H.O.T.T.

Knox = Alpha, Protective, Dom (he definitely doesn't start out that way) and Bossy! He does 1 thing that makes me want to hit him upside the head, but Storm always pulled her big girl panties up and did it and showed him that she can take anything he throws at her.

“You and me...we will make it work. You will not run when it starts getting hard or when I demand more than you've ever given any man.” - Knox

“He inspected me coolly like I was his property. “Submit Storm.” His brow arched. “Down, Storm, I’m about to ruin my pants.” - Knox

Give me wolves any day! I just love them !!!

This one was a big surprise! I really liked it and wasn`t satisfied until I reached the last page...

I find very little well written shifter books YES I say shifter not specifically wolves because I felt the need to widen my shifter range because there are just so many really bad ones that can make you hate the genre. And this little book here I enjoyed quite much.

So I am recommending to wolves lovers. This is a good book even though there are some things that I didn`t like I was swooped in the story. I believe the writing is exceptionally good because till the actual reveal of the heroes shifter status the writer had me eating out of her hand and believing every word never mind the book blurb bellow:

SHIFTER. ROCKER. CHEATER. CURSE.

That is the first thing that pokes you in the eye when you go for so more information about this book and it`s beyond be to understand why nearly the hole book is written like the Hero IS NOT a shifter but a HUMAN and the first word in the book description is yes indeed SHIFTER. This is confusing me BIG TIME !!!

The other slightly annoying thing was the ignorance of the heroine … seriously you have cool powers and live in a world with the Others and you will chose to DON’T KNOW how the RECOGNIZE them. Yes that is absolutely logically justified !!! Crazy woman ! <=the rest of the review is FULL with SPOILERS ;)

Definitely will be reading the next one ;)

I received Breaking the Storm for review via NetGalley.
Stormy comes from a long line of witches that are cursed. Upon falling in love with a human the one they love always ends up dead. So after centuries, the women the women in her family have avoided falling in love which is what she intended. That is till she met Knox but unwilling to let anything happen to him she ends it before it is too late. Spending the next 5 years locking her heart.

However, when Knox comes back into her life she has to play the game by his rules if she wants to save her family business. Just seeing him makes her feel things she didn't expect to and doesn't think she can last as his escort till he leaves. However, she's not willing to give up her family business and has to do or lose it all. Though staying with Knox may just change it all forever and what about the looming curse?

I love Stormy she's a sweetheart who has issues but has always done what she thought was best. She may not be able to fall in love for fear of losing the one she loves but she's dealt with the hand she was given. I wasn't sure about Knox to be honest at first as I felt he had revenge firmly in his grasp but he quickly redeemed himself. I loved Lightning that we are given a little chance to get to know as her cousin and business partner.

I've had this one on my kindle way too long, and I regret not getting to it sooner. Breaking the Storm is a paranormal romance set in an exciting new world filled with exciting new characters. The concept for the Credence women is interesting as fae witches who happen to be cursed unable to find love. I love the cover for Breaking the Storm it's what first captured my attention and after reading the synopsis I knew I had to dive right in. The characters are easy to connect with you can't help falling for Stormy and Knox they just belong together even if they can't see it. I enjoyed the story, the author has written a beautiful story that captured my heart. I can't wait to read more of the Credence girls.

I was betrayed. My only warning was the chilling howls before the mangy wolf-shifters—Tiber Alfero’s warriors—cornered me like a pack of wild dogs snapping and snarling. I knew what they wanted…for me to go with them peacefully. Hell no! That wasn’t going to happen. Capturing me would be like herding stray cats—impossible. As they surged forward, I mounted an attack that shocked the hell out of them. What started out as a routine mission to retrieve “the crazy Credence Fae-Witch” turned into an all-out battle to capture me without adding a body count… Mission impossible. I was a vicious fighter. Something they should’ve known since my family was one of the deadliest around. They quickly paid for their naivety when I ruthlessly put down five warriors, leaving them writhing in pain on the ground. Not to mention the two warriors who won’t be able to walk straight or have sex for a couple days from my cringe-worthy blows to their groins. Body count…seven for me, zero for the wolf-shifters. The vein pulsed along his wide jaw as he watched the not-too-subtle widening of my stance. “Don’t you dare try it, Solista.” His voice was deep and gravelly. His eyes narrowed as he absently rubbed the scar on his chin given to him by yours truly years ago during one of our many arguments. He knew I had no qualms about fighting dirty. Yes, it would be a bloody brawl that I had no chance of winning, but I refused to be a victim of circumstance. Besides, he had no plans to kill me. He needed—no, wanted—me alive. That much I knew. He stepped forward, invading my space, cutting off any chance of delivering a wicked kick to the groin. Shit! Okay, on to Plan C: annoy the hell out of him. “Must be serious if the leader of the Other Council has come to retrieve me.” I pursed my lips and stepped back. He reached forward, yanking my cuffs so hard I slammed against his slick, taut body. I struggled, locking eyes with him. The weight of his stare tried to force me to look away like every other woman in his pack, but I refused. I would never give him that power over me. He had enough as it was. So I continued my war of words. “I would think you have better things to do, like the planning of your big mate-claiming ceremony, than to come to collect a defenseless witch whose only crime is taking a peaceful carriage ride on a cool winter evening.” His warriors snarled, lunging toward me for my disrespect of their beloved Alpha. Impatiently, he waved them back. “Do you love him, Solista?” His voice was hard as steel. His accent was thicker, an indicator of how angry he was. I tilted my chin defiantly. He had no right to ask me anything. Not after he broke my heart. “Why? Are you having second thoughts about me?” Sighing heavily, he reached down as if he wanted to caress me in his familiar way. Stopping short, he abruptly stepped back. “Solista, why do you resent me for something that was inevitable?” Oh, to hell with this. Taking my chances, I shoved him, running away at top speed. I barreled into the thick of the woods, flinching with every smack of a branch across my face. I refused to let him hurt me again. I was done with all his bullshit, especially after it was so easy for him to let it all go and turn his back on everything I offered him so freely. No more… I refused to have him twist my feelings for his gain…once again.



I really wanted to like this story unfortunately there were too many issues that prevented me from being able to finish this book. I thought that the author had a great idea to build a great story on sadly I don't think that her homework was done on the erotic relationship that the characters sexual interests were built upon and I didn't feel that it related really in any way to the story as whole because she didn't explain any of the reasoning behind why they were that way. The so so sex scenes that were included flopped for me because the dirty talk that was supposed to be sexy just wound up being insulting instead. The plot that was supposed to build tension never really gained momentum at which point I gave up trying to finish the book for now. I won't give up on the author or any future books for the series because I believe the author and the series have a great potential to make even better books in the future.

Wow! I practically devoured this book in one sitting. It had all the things I love in a romance...a hot, tattooed, alpha male who is on the kinky side and into D/s. Not to mention a paranormal aspect to it - Knox was a shifter and Stormy was a Fae-witch.

There was a lot going on in here with the world building and kink, but it worked for me. I loved how Stormy felt like she had to protect Knox by first, leaving him, and then later by facing a psycho warlock, whom we haven't seen the last of. A lot of heart ache could have been avoided had they only been honest and trusted each other in the first place. Knox laid the blame on Stormy, but he admitted to having trust issues when they were first together, so it's not like he was being brutally honest with her.

I am gladly looking forward to the next book in this series :)

The ending was fantastic! The beginning and middle could have awesome, but something was missing. It was just on the edge of greatness but.... I'm just not sure. Definetly looking forward to book 2.

3.5 Rockin’ Stars!

The Review:
I wanted so much to love this book. And thought I didn’t dislike it in any way, I felt it could have been exceptional instead of just good.

The beginning of the book started out with a fantastic prologue. We are decades into the past where one woman is trying to proclaim her innocence. There are wolf-shifters, a scorned Fae-witch and a council of Others that are out for blood. Exciting!

The main story itself, is great! After the prologue, we are introduced to Knox and Storm who are at the beginning of their rocky journey. And though we know the past will play a part in what is happening, you are so overcome with the thrilling present, you almost forget that history has a way of repeating itself as we are swept up in Knox and Storms drama.

Storm is a Fae-witch hybrid whose family curse is to leave their true loves dead after revealing themselves. Storm has grown up knowing she can never get close to anyone because if she does, they will likely die. So she’s distanced herself emotionally from everyone.

Until Knox.

Knox is a budding rock star with a troubled past. He’s sexy, he’s talented and he really cares about Storm as he’s able to break down her walls and make her feel. But there are secrets in their way and people who are opposed to the couple living a happily-ever-after. So when the chance presents itself, Storm uses it to her advantage to make her leave. And though her reasons are noble, its still painful for both of them.

Skip forward in time and their paths cross once more only they’ve both changed dramatically from the young, innocent’s they once were. Knox is now a HOT rock star with many layers and he has his sights set on Storm, determined to have her kneel before him and submit. He almost comes off as mean but understanding their past, you get why he acts the way he does.

Storm is reluctant because she knows if anyone can break her carefully placed walls, its Knox. And added to that, there’s someone out to destroy her family’s legacy and business.

Things get sticky and intense and it was fun watching these two come together. I loved all the ways Knox helped Storm come out of her shell and shed the stuffy, controlling veneer she’s layered on since he last saw her.

But.. there’s always a but!...
But what really brought the book down several notches for me is Storm’s ignorance. She grew up in this world and though she may not have the “know how” for unveiling Others, she should have seen the signs. I saw them in the first chapter! No way could Knox’s reveal have been a shock to her! She’s this strong independent woman who’s going through life avoiding commitment because of a curse and past heartbreak, having walled herself up so that she can’t get emotionally involved. I loved that she was willing to submit to Knox and all the experiences he was willing to provide to her, but her not putting the pieces together about Knox and then about Luke only made her seem ridiculous and dumb. I hate when strong women can’t see the light. Also, the bdsm in this book was... not! There was none. Knox kept saying you will submit to me and I am a Dom but at no point was there any bdsm play, which is fine but why harp on Doms and subs so much during the book only to never actually do any play when you’ve finally got the hero and heroine together? Why pick a “safe word” if you aren’t going to be in any situation to actually need it? And lastly, there was so much exposition and dialogue between character, I found myself zoning out several times. It bogged the book down and left me scratching my head because sometimes, it didn’t even have anything to do with what was happening. There’s a three page conversation between Light and Storm and most of it had nothing to do with the current story.

The Wrap Up:
I loved the world building, I loved the back story, I absolutely loved Knox, I even loved Storm despite her ignorance. The conflict was well thought out and I loved the story set up. And the ending was fantastic!

There were things I didn’t like but I’ll probably go on to the second book because I'm interested to know how it all turns out and where Light’s story is heading. I liked her alot as a sub-character and Ryker is just too interesting to pass on!

My Rating: ★★★

GOOD: The characteristics of a 3 star book include: interesting characters, a decent storyline, and unique story elements; there was something about the story that I didn’t completely connect with; the book is a solid read. I would recommend it to a friend.

My Thoughts:
I am torn in my feelings about Breaking the Storm. There are parts that I enjoyed and parts that I didn't.

What I Liked...
I enjoyed the character dynamics in the story. The easy flow between Stormy and her cousin, Light and between their mothers, as crazy as they were, was even and easy. I really liked the premise of the story as well. A man coming back to claim his woman after years apart. What's not to love about an alpha male on the "I'm coming to take back what's mine" war path. Loved it!

Now, What I Didn't Like...
My first and second "dislikes" are connected. First, the use of "slut"...hated it. I ground my teeth every time Knox said that he was going to make Stormy his slut. He only said it twice, but that was two times too many for me. I get it...he was making a point with Stormy. Telling her without telling her that she was his and would always be his. But, I'm thinking "slut" wasn't the best "term of endearment" that he could have used to gain her submission and acquiescence. The way he said it was not sexy but rather demeaning, in my opinion.

Moving on...the second dislike for me was the insertion of the D/s theme in the story. Again, I get the mechanics of it but it just didn't fit well for me. I have read plenty of BDSM romances and I am in no means a prude but the theme in this story did not feel organic to me. Light and Stormy's mothers were Dommes and Knox and Ryker were Doms. Why? *shrug*...I didn't get it. And honestly, other than Knox telling Stormy where to be and what to wear, I didn't get his Domness. He was alpha for sure, but not a Dom. One of the basic tenets of a D/s relationship is trust. Trust is always established between a Dom and a sub and there was zero trust between Stormy and Knox. Knox nothing to establish it. He tested Stormy's limits but those limits were based on her desire for him and not any trust between them.

Moving on...again...Stormy *sigh, what can I say about Stormy? I was firmly put her in the too stupid to live category on a couple of instances. She just was clueless when it came to the Otherness around her. Again, I get it...she was a hybrid and was more interested in being human than other. But, I wanted to shake her when she saw Knox's tattoos — his wolf tattoos of a wolf pack and a single wolf with striking green eyes, like his human eye color. I think I was screaming at her by that point. It was just too obvious and she totally missed it. But I really lost all patience with her when she actually saw Knox in wolf form, green eyes and all, and it still took more than a nanosecond for her to clue in that it was him. She thought it was Ryker.

That's a wrap...
Although I had a few issues with the story, I didn't hate. It contained a solid premise and I believe it set a solid foundation for the series. I would have liked to see more by way of the supernatural though. There were only two instances of obvious supernatural activity in the entire story. I would have enjoyed seeing the Fae-witches do something Fae-y or witch-y. But, as this is the first book in the series, it is understandable that the author had to lay the groundwork for what is to come. I enjoyed Light's teaser at the end and look forward to read about the Clash of the Titans: Light vs. Ryker. Now, THAT should be a fun story. Overall, I give this book solid marks for being vivid, detailed, and interesting.

Holy smokes. Stormy Credence should be renamed Steamy, because there is a lot of sex in this novel. A LOT. And when there’s not a sex scene, it’s probably a sexual situation, and–if not that–then a discussion of sex. So, I would definitely rate this as super high on the heat level meter!

Anyway, that aside, Stormy and her cousin Light have the unfortunate curse that any human they fall in love with will kick the bucket. So, easy solution: don’t fall in love! Well… it should be that easy, but Knox Gunner had to go and be all sexy and amazing so that Stormy is thisclose to losing her heart and endangering Knox’s well-being. When she breaks it off by breaking his heart, Knox is out to fight for what he wants–and he’s not adverse to using some blackmail to do it.

I really liked the women in this novel. Stormy is tough, Light is hilarious, and their dysfunctional relationship with their overprotective cougar mothers is pretty funny. Their scenes together were fantastic, and we got to learn more about them through their dialogue rather than being told. The opening scene to the novel really grabbed me, and that was with a tough ancestress who I’m glad we got to learn more about later in the novel. Yay for the women in this novel!

I wasn’t too much of a fan of the guys though. I love stories with overprotective alpha males going all caveman for their women, but this one caught me off guard. It deals with Dom/Subs, which also included some scenes of voyeurism and exhibitionism that I wasn’t too crazy about. It didn’t make sense to me how Knox could be so jealous and protective over her but then have her exposed to others in degrading ways. On the other hand, I love how Stormy took control of those situations and owned them, so maybe that’s what the author was trying to highlight in those scenes. Irregardless, those scenes made me root for Stormy to show Knox his place, when I should have been rooting for them as a couple.

I also wish that Knox would have opened up and told Stormy his secrets so they would have cleared up so many issues and misunderstandings at the start. Towards the later part of the novel, it was getting ridiculous that he was still keeping secrets.

The story is entertaining and written well, and I liked the mystery plot line although it’s left unresolved at the end (this being a series and all). So, although there is some closure, there are still questions I’d like to see answered. I should also mention the language is not clean so be prepared for raunchy talk and f-bombs galore! Overall, I’m giving this a 4 out of 5. Light’s book is next, and I’d love to read about her story since she was so fun and has an interesting problem that I’m dying to know how she fixes!

YOU JUST CAN'T!As a result ,I didn't get to know Storm and Knox,other than their need and lust for each other...I got bored with the dialogues between Storm and Lighting which only involved Lighting telling Storm to get laid!Just this...over and over again!I liked their love story,but it seemed that all the other stuff where just a buffer...Regarding the Bdsm thing,honestly I don't know how it fits in this book..totally out of the blue!Sooo much talk about it and then nothing really happened!

All in all I got the feeling that the author tried to combine in this book more elements and genres than this book could handle! And what makes me sad is that this could be a really interesting read,and a really good series ,after, if less elements where included and elaborated in detail!

I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review. I didn't really enjoy this book. I felt it fell short in all aspects. The characters had no depth in their personalities, the dialogue at times was drawn out, monotonous and hard to follow - especially mixed in with all the teenager type vernacular and the plot was lost in the sex talk.I normally enjoy anything paranormal and I thought this book would be a winner, i was very disappointed. There was no real intrigue, it felt like b grade porn. If they weren't having sex, they were talking about it, and the whole D/s BDSM themes didn't sit right with me in this context. I am not a prude and have no problem with books with these themes but the author missed the mark. I also found the paranormal side lacking, characters were assigned an identity (such as werewolf or half-fae- witch) but the lack of dimension to these roles left me wondering what it meant to be such an Other (as those who are not human are referred to in the story). Further description of these characters would have gone a long way for me. As it stood all I took from this book is that werewolves and fae witches are all just horny and all they think about is sex!

I received an ARC of this book from the author for an honest review and I can honestly tell you it is awesome! Sedona Venez writes amazingly hot paranormal books. I love both the story and the characters. Knox is a sexy/dominant male. No matter how much Stormy tries to deny her feelings and desire for Knox there is an unstoppable force drawing them together. It isn't going to be smooth though. Knox wants Stormy and he intends to have her in every sense, all of her. I love how he pushers and consumes her. They are setting off serious sparks. I hope he continues to push Storm's limits and test her desire for pain in the next book.
I cannot wait for Light's story. It is going to be fun to see Ryker or Bones breakthrough her barriers.

I enjoyed the research that went into the back ground stories, which in my opinion, help the plot a lot.

I hated not finishing the prologue. I didn't like Knox attitude about the curse. The women did what they needed to survive.

I love how much he loved her and her dominant behavior rock.

I hope in the next book they explain the mystery of the murder and document.

I glad Luke help with the situation and yes he was a stalker I felt her sacredness

I would definitely be reading the second book

Enthralling, emotionally, very entertaining

Wow, just wow what an awesome story. Lots of action and adventure throughout this well written self-contained story. Curses that keep the Credence women away from the men they fall in love with or those men fall pray to death.
A hot rocker guy who loves one such woman named Storm.
Five years later the two meet up, but not by chance. The emotions are high and lots of stuff happens.
Well worth reading. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Is history bound to repeat itself

This book drops us right into the intensity of a love gone wrong and never lets up. The author did such a fantastic job of bringing this couple full circle. There were a few times that I wanted to throttle the characters, but they finally got it right in the end. I especially enjoyed the way the past brought Stormy some clarity. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

What do I even say? I really enjoyed this one. It had everything I need in a book, romance, suspense, originality, complex characters, mystery and the absolute best of all; the drama.

The drama was there from chapter one and even the prologue. So much so that it actually made me resent the prologue a bit because I loved it enough to want much much more from it with the backstory of Tiber and Solista’s past and what happened between them after. Going from such a good and compelling start and then jump into the present with the introduction of the main characters took a bit of a damper on things. Not necessarily in any bad way since the introduction and exposition was important to the story, but it did slow down the beginning quite a bit. It did pretty quickly jump into it again though, with the sizzling romance blossoming between Stormy and Knox and then the addictive deceit and jealousy taking a big part in their big fallout.

It took a bit too long for them to meet again after that, and I don’t mean it in a “years later” sort of way. I mean that the book focused a lot attention on Light and Storm and their issues with the company they were being primed to take over from their mothers. So much so that the main story became a bit dragged out again. While I like that the story had other focus points other than just the romance it took a bit too much space with unnecessarily long and repetitive dialogues between her and Light and even their mothers of to resolve the issues of the company and of Storms sex life. It didn’t feel like the story was progressing anywhere until finally Storm and Knox crossed paths again.

Their reunion was toe curling to say the least, turning the book into a lovers to haters genre. Both being rightfully pissed at the other still after all this time and the “escort D/s” deal Storm was backed into compensated well for the previous slow paced chapter, with the excitement up to one hundred again. Although I am not that into D/s it wasn’t so overly detailed or explicit that it got on my nerves. It actually complemented their relationship development quite well since it helped them both work out their aggressions and helped them come to terms of what went awry. However, if I had one complaint it is that they resolved their issues a bit too quickly and easily for my liking. It would have felt more natural and impactful with some more struggles and arguments leading them to come together again.

Throughout the book the story was building up all sorts of mysteries keeping me hooked to the story when the romance wasn’t taking center stage, what Knox and Storm was for example. That build up was absolutely beautifully handled and gave Breaking the Storm an explosive finish, ending it all with a bang. It actually ended it so well that I cannot help but wish for more. Me continuing with the series is pretty much a guarantee, since there is so much more I need and want to see from these character and amazingly original and complex world. Breaking the Storm gets four well deserved stars from me.

SENSATIONAL-DYMANIC-TANTALIZING:

Before I purchased this particular shifter book-I read all the reviews. The negative reviews captured my attention with regard to certain viewpoints about the main characters and concepts of the story line, so I decided to change the concept of the review -I am reviewing the negative reviews as well as the book.

Before I get into the logistics of my breakdown on the reviews I read; I have to say that this was an exceptional story-with all the elements of a shifter romance. The characters were far from boring, a multifaceted story line that is exciting as well as magical, and for those who love intimacy content there is certainly enough to ignite the pages. There is also plenty of background story to prepare the reader for an astounding series with a huge cast of unique characters.

Stormy: an audacious, sexy, intelligent, curvy, beautiful Fae-witch, running a high class escort service and burdened with the Credence Curse-the true loves of Credence women die. The Fae-witches are extremely powerful beings (a strong bloodline); A few of the reviewers stated that Stormy was stupid; because she didn't recognize that Knox was a wolf-shifter. Actually, that was the author's intent-and the author makes mention in the first chapter-that Stormy had to call her mom for a lesson on how to recognize the Others (shifters)-a lesson she had no interest in when she was younger, and she was also stupid because she didn't recognize that Ryker & Knox were related-again she wasn't supposed to. I loved the fact she didn't know about his wolf because it added ANTICIPATION and EXCITEMENT to the story-when Knox finally appeared as a wolf; it proved how PROTECTIVE he was towards Stormy, it was CLIMATIC. Stormy is not stupid, just hung up on the Credence Curse, and not wanting her Fae powers, in fact she has a dominant (alpha) personality and has very strong protective instincts when it comes to Knox; which she proves in the book. Another reviewer didn't understand the dream Stormy had when she meets Ryker's grandfather Tiber who had an important message for her-only it wasn't a dream she was physically transported to the realm between the human realm and the Other realm-it was The Fae that allowed the meeting-it's called MAGIC.

Knox: Rock Star, charismatic, astute, gorgeous, sexy (DOM), alpha controlling personality, wolf-shifter: A few reviewers did not like the fact the Knox called Stormy a slut-okay not one of my favorite words, however, he made it a point of stating she would be HIS slut-to me that screams POSSESSIVE. These reviewers thought he was disrespectful and they didn't like him because of his attitude; he's a wolf-shifter not Prince Charming. Before Stormy found out that the Knox was the friend that Alpha Ryker was gifting the escort to-he whispered something in her ear: that his friend SERVES a very IMPORTANT PURPOSE-that sentence HOWLED that Knox Gunner was Beta-second in command to the most powerful wolf-pack in New York-so is Knox disrespectful-I see him as a Beta who won't show weakness in front of his Alpha-also he was trying to get a rise out of Stormy. The banter between Stormy & Knox is beyond phenomenal, the word that comes to my mind is foreplay. A few reviewers didn't understand why Knox was portrayed as a DOM-because BDSM is all about trust-and since they didn't trust each other why bother putting that in the book: When Knox and Storm were discussing guide lines: Knox stated to: Stormy-that she was all about Power. Order. Authority., but her SUBMISSION to him was more important-and that they will build trust-by pushing boundaries. You do have to start somewhere-the reader knows Knox is a wolf-shifter-Ryker is his Alpha-so do you think perhaps Knox knew about the curse??? Knox had his insecurities also, and he needed Stormy not only to trust him but (to trust in him) which meant giving herself to him The Credence Woman Way-it's in the book (the translation is extremely important to him) and running from him was not an option because he was ready to give her everything. Some reviewers objected to him telling her what to wear and where to go-he sent her expensive dress/gowns they were gifts-she was his escort to functions. Knox did ask her to do some bizarre things which made for an extremely interesting part of the story. Another reviewer wanted to know what the point of a safe word was since there was no BDSM happening-the safe word was for her benefit to use whenever or wherever she wanted as long as it wasn't the word NO-don't forget he is part wolf and if she smelled of fear-that was his own signal to STOP. Knox screams dominance, he may be 2nd in command but he is definitely ALPHA, but beneath that tough exterior when it comes to Stormy he just melts. Would he ever hurt Stormy NO-would he protect her ABSOLUTELY-Is she his YES-does he finally win all her heart??? (No cliffhanger)

I totally understand that everyone has an opinion and not everyone is going to like a book, however, when words rip apart a character when the answers are in the book-the review shows no merit. If the reviewer stated that she would have liked the book better if Stormy recognized that Knox was a wolf-shifter instead of calling her stupid; that is a much better way of expressing feelings. As far as the BDSM it certainly belonged in the book as it served a purpose-its purpose was in the book . With regard to Knox, the tender moments definitely outweigh his dominant personality. I certainly do not profess to be the all know it on reviews as I am not, however, I do have the responsibility to write a respectable review that merits the author or any author's talent whether I enjoyed the book or not.

This book is absolutely incredible and I am so elated-that I purchased this book and ignored the negative reviews. Sometimes it pays to read between the lines-and discover how an author portrays her characters and their significance in the story. This book also had some intense moments which made it that much better. Sedona melded together more than a memorable story and I most definitely look forward to reading the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book.

Great start, thanks to this book, for the new paranormal romance series by Sedona Venez: Credence Curse. I enjoyed the story of Breaking the Storm a lot, thanks to the characters and their very colorful verbal clashes and for the situations that the protagonists are facing.
The plot is smooth, the style of the author rich in irony, addictive and I literally devoured the book because I had to find out what happened between Knox and Stormy.

"I wanted Knox. There was no need to deny that fact.
Knox was the type of guy you gravitated to, who stood out in the crowd. It wasn't just his classically good-looking features and perpetual five o’clock shadow. It was his raw energy that entranced me, that made me feel like a giggly, fumbling high school girl, happy to be in his presence.
Yes, there’s no denying it, front man Knox Gunner was a sexy badass.
It didn't matter that he initially thought I was some bored, rich girl trying to live out some wild fantasy of being with a starving musician. It was uncomplicated and that's what we both wanted. At least that's what I convinced myself. I wasn't ready to admit to myself that my feelings for Knox were getting dangerously deep—waiting to lay siege on my heart. I was falling for him… and this was dangerous. The rules were clear: falling in love would obligate me to expose what I truly was, setting in motion his slow march to death."

Witches, magic, werewolves and other paranormal creatures in the books are very popular now. The author has written a story filled with suspense and mystery about the women persecuted by the Credence Curse, her female characters Stormy and her cousin Light are really two independent women with their behaviors, and their adventures, and they are very funny to discover, not to mention their mothers, about them I can say they're a little bit "extravagant", it's an euphemism and their business very particular, tied to an agency that provides professional escorts for paranormal creatures, they don't want complications.
Men, especially the werewolves are extremely sexy and dominant, and so the poor Stormy, after having dropped Knox very badly, is having to deal with revenge designed by man, as it always saysrevenge is a dish best served cold and Knox, once he became popular, is ready to have his way with Stormy. Yes, maybe it's not really a cold revenge, that are always fireworks when the two when of them meet each other.
The story between Knox and Stormy is always very hot, sex scenes are well written, engaging and never vulgar.
Truly an amazing book and the second in the series with Light as the protagonist promises very well.

La scrittrice però ha scritto una storia ricca di suspance e mistero riguardo alle donne perseguitate dalla maledizione dei Credence, i suoi personaggi femminili Stormy e la cugina Light sono veramente oltre le righe con i loro comportamenti e le loro avventure, due peperine, molto divertenti da scoprire, per non parlare delle loro madri della quali per sentito dire potrei definire "stravaganti" con un eufemismo e i loro affari legati a una agenzia che fornisce accompagnatrici professioniste (le famose escort) per creature paranormali, che non vogliono complicazioni.
Gli uomini, soprattutto i licantropi sono estremamente sexy e dominanti e così la povera Stormy, dopo aver scaricato Knox in malo modo si trova a dover affrontare la vendetta pensata dall'uomo, come si dice sempre è un piatto che va servito freddo e Knox, una volta diventato famoso, ha pensato bene di presentare il conto a Stormy. Sì, forse non è proprio una vendetta a freddo, visto le scintille che fanno sempre i due quando si incontrano.
I rapporti tra i due sono sempre molto hot, ben scritti, coinvolgenti e mai volgari.
Veramente un ottimo libro e il secondo della serie con Light come protagonista promette proprio bene.

Stormy Credence and Knox Gunner had a fantastic time together but once feelings start to happen Stormy knows she must leave him before the curse starts and leaves Knox dead. The curse means that the Credence women cant fall in love.
Now five years later Stormy has a lot to learn about Knox when they meet again.
Stormy is feisty, strong, confident and powerful. This is a fantastic first book in the series with so many twist and turns. I cant wait for the next book when we learn about Lightening.

Storm Credence is a hybrid Fae-Wolf Witch. She and her cousin, Lightning, are the last of the Credence bloodline. They are afraid to let themselves fall in love for fear of the Credence Curse. Every time a Credence woman falls in love with a man, mainly human, he dies. But is it really a curse? Or something else at play.... Storm also has major trust issues thanks to her jerkwad of a father.

Knox is a werewolf, rock star singer of his band and so dang sexy hot. He's definitely in to Dominance. He's also very into Storm. He unfortunately has a bad childhood that causes major trust issues which plays a big role in his and Storms relationship.

Storm and Knox date for a little while, however, they let trust issues and rumors factor in to their relationship. Knox's band manager and band mate along with Storms crazy stalker ex, also factor in to their break up. They let their break up effect their lives and soon enough 5 years passes by. They run in to each other again and Storm is all about trying to get away from him. Knox on the other hand isn't having it. He will do everything he can to make her submit to him and become his forever.

While Knox is working on getting Storm back, she has to deal with pressing issues regarding her job. She runs an Escort service and some bad things are happening. Not only does she have to deal with learning to submit to Knox and her pressing work matters, but she also has reporters, cops and her crazy ex to deal with.

What I liked and didn't like:
This book sucked me in and I really enjoyed the story line. I enjoyed most of the characters. I loved that there was no cliffhangers as well as the couple ending the book in the way I like to see a couple end up.

HOWEVER! I didn't know the couple would end up having a Dom/sub relationship. I didn't care for this part of the book. It made me uncomfortable and I felt like it took away from the story line for me. I liked Knox at the beginning of the book but not so much after that. I didn't like his Dominance one bit or the things he made Storm do. I also didn't like how Lightning and Harper would talk Storm in to doing something she was dead set against. I also felt that parts of the book were just skimmed over or wrapped up too quickly. Another thing that bothered me a lot was Storm not being able to identify Luke or Knox's status and thinking they are purely human pretty much the entire book. She's a pretty smart kick ass girl, so why doesn't she have a clue? And why did Knox's pack members never correct her blunders?

It was only told from Storm’s p.o.v. It would have been nice to have a snippet from Knox somewhere. There were some light BDSM scenes but very tamed. Starts with the beginning of how the story will focus around and with Solice Credence, Stormy’s great grandma, how her family was hated, falsely accused of murder of humans, how Solice did love a wolf shifter Tiber but she was broken when he chose another to mate claim and not her. Stormy is Independant only daughter of her mother and unwelcomed being of her hated father with her cousin Lighting trying to be their own person while having mother’s that are testing the girls out later in life. But the 1st chapter we meet 20 something old Stormy about to graduate from college and how she’s fighting her emotions for her un-famous as of yet not boyfriend but close to being one when she needs to cut the ties since she’s very close to bonding to Knox. She needs to let him go before the family curse takes him away from her for forever. Knox has secrets that won’t be revealed until later, Stormy will face challenges in the first chapter that is hurtful. *On a side note— a bit of warning Storm and Knox are so in tune with each other BUT it don’t stop them from sleeping with other people, they are in some weird time period where they won’t have full on sex together but will find it else where. I didn’t care for that tibbit of their ‘relationship’.

Over all I believe that it was a good book and a quick read (because it was and to put down), but, for me the end raised more questions than answers.

Some examples of unresolved questions:
-who ever broke into the business
-when she finally found out Knox's true identity, why wasn't she fazed? I mean for God's sake anyone would be!

Yeah, I get that there is a second book, but this one seemed pretty rushed more towards the end. I don't know if I just didn't pick up on the clues of what but it seems to go from some fairly hot sex to... BOOM! She found out the cause of the family curse.

The last thing that I really didn't like about the book was all of the demeaning things Knox has Storm do. Like for example, being a naked human buffet table. Over half of the book was just straight up Dom/Submissive stuff and that's just not my cup of tea.

But put all of that aside and it was a pretty good book filled with interesting and entertaining characters that could bring a laugh or a tear at a cleverly written line. If your into some Dom/Sub or are a fan of supernatural books, I say go for it. It's right up your alley.

Holy smokes I want that gorgeous georgeous yet semi arrogant Knox. When you first meet him you know he is bad boy personified. You also know he is broken and that there is more to him than that bad boy image. He you can tell is sweet in his own way. He is also a touch bit on the darkside but his capacity to love is beautiful. And when he loves he loves wholeheartedly. Curses or not! when Stormy walks away because she thinks she's "protecting him" just puts my knickers in a twist but he never forgets her. How precious is that.

So when they finally meet up again you can understand why he is a bit gruff with her.

Stormy is a broken and scared woman. She exudes confidence and yet on the inside she is anything but. Her heart has the wall of China around it dang it. Her silly belief that love is a curse blech. She is a smart and kind girl but can be ruthless as well. I love her cousin Lightning though. That girl cracks me up and Ryker is just HAWT.

the story is one that shows love is bigger than a curse and that trust must be seen for love to thrive. An adventure and mystery that I am enjoying the ride into the next book now I am wondering who killed who and why the stolen documents and who took them??? But the ahh factour is there with Knox he will have you rooting for love.

Fantastic read

Absolutely loved the characters; Stormy was funny and playful, romantic and serious all rolled up into one sexy far and her hero was all Alpha with that wounded vulnerable side we love to read about. The plot was highly engaging . There was nothing I could criticise. I hold my hands up to you, Ms. Venez, you are one exciting writer. It is a good thing I have retired from reaching otherwise I would have a serious problem getting up for school, as I was reading your book all night.

I cannot wait for the next book about Lightning as she is off the charts!! An empath and a fae - a strange combination at least for Lightning it is!!

But going back to this book, I just loved the chemistry between the two protagonists. They were wonderful together and I loved how Storm kicked butt!! The first person narrative really allowed us to understand Stormy and a more likeable character you could not hope to meet. A woman who loooved her man!! Or wolf!!!
Some minor editing issues really too minor to mention but I'm an English teacher. It comes with the territory. This was a highly engaging read and I would thoroughly recommend that you read this book. Tomorrow in fact today I am going to download the next book in the series. A well deserved give stars!!

What an amazing story! The excitement is never ending! I am not sure why there were negative reviews. I wish I was talented enough to write as well. To me, the story and characters progressed just as they should have. Lack of instant recognition of who was and wasn't a shifter was explained several times throughout the storyn and was a nice variation from the standard meet and mate immediately scenarios we usually get in paranormal romances. A bit of suspense is a positive, not a negative. Waiting to see when Stormy would find out Knox's "otherness" was kinda fun! I am not into heavy S&M or BDSM, but saying Knox isn't a DOM doesn't really compute...yes there must be trust, but that is exactly what he was trying to get from and give to Storm. It is definitely not always a easy thing to learn. That being said...
I enjoyed their story immensely! I am heading to get book two right now, and I can't wait to start reading it!
Give the series a try...it hasn't disappointed yet!

Blech this made me want to projectile vomit. I was already struggling with this book. Too much telling not enough showing and every interaction between every character was so immature. But I was really trying...until the "hero"got t reintroduced. He was a douche plain and simple. And his dialogue was very rapey. "You'll be my submissive even though it's clear I have no idea what that actually entails...and if you say no I'll trash your business."  It's like all the immaturity I hate out of na books combined with the crap I rant about when reading bad bdsm books.
