Being one of the few survivors of the deadly Crimson Fever, Autumn Winters has been given sanctuary with the Hoover Settlement. When devastating weather sparks an emergency mission to Hoover’s sister city, Autumn along with Grey and other Hoover residents, is forced to fight for the very survival of their people. With accidents occurring left and right, mysteries unraveling at every turn, and love and loss put to the test, the second book in the Autumn series becomes nothing more than the perfect read.

I must say I was very excited to read this book and when I was given the chance to I certainly was not disappointed. I enjoyed the second book as much as I enjoyed the first! It had everything that I hoped for and everything that could have been expected. The writing in this book was yet again perfect, I could feel the tension building in scenes, the sadness that occurred and even the small scenes with passion. I loved how Kirby Howell made each scene so detailed and I could imagine the events folding out before me, it made the book that much more interesting, especially the actions scenes. I also loved how I was always at the edge of my seat with every chapter, it made it more compelling to read (which is why I finished the book within a few hours!). I do not want to give away a single spoiler as I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone! It is different to anything you have read before and I can promise if you love fantasy, action, romance and strong leading characters you will fall for this book!

Wow ... I'm going to say that again. Wow. I loved book 1 but this one was even better. I was gripped from page one. I couldn't stop reading and then when I wasn't reading, I was trying to find time when I could.

Autumn is the same great character as before, now she's just more. It has been enough time since the crimson fever that all the mourning is over, allowing the leftover people to work on building new lives and protect what they have built.

Autumn now knows another one of Grey's big secrets. Much of this book focuses on her trying to deal with that. She is no longer the doe eyed girl who is just happy the cute doctor looked her way. Now she has to decided if she can still be with him with everything going on.

And then there's Karl. We learn things about him that I never saw coming. I love the direction this series has taken. A well deserved five star!

Good read

Enjoyed the story, boy The Front really knows how to sully up the works. Love how Autumn stands up to Karl, and Grey is swoon worthy.

Kirby Howell has done it again with her follow-up in The Autumn Series, Autumn in the Dark Meadows. In book two we continue our amazing journey with Autumn and Grey and the unique relationship they have in this post-apocalyptic world.
Howell continues to create unique and interesting characters, while developing those we met in the first novel. The series of events told in Autumn in the Dark Meadows are exciting and epic. This is story is just one action packed event after the next. Howell creates a new setting and shows how the characters we love have come to cope with their new lives.
I must say Howell certainly outdid herself with the twist surprise ending of this story. I can not wait to continue my journey with Autumn and Grey and see how they manage to possibly stop what is to come. The page turning writing style makes this book a fun and memorable read and a story that you would find yourself wanting to read multiple times. If you enjoy a good adventure in a post-apocalyptic setting, read this series!

This is the second book in the Autumn series!! The main female character (Autumn) in this book is more mature and has to make even harder decisions. There is a nice twist to this book as well. I 100% recommend this book if you are looking for a great book that doesn't have vampires or werewolves which have been so overwritten. Reading the Autumn series was like a breath of fresh air!

I think this is a good series. I am enjoying each book a little more. I think if you like dystopian series books you should check out this series. I enjoy reading what the author has done to the characters and the story in each book. I love the "feel good moments" even in a world of struggle there is still love. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Gah, the Twilight references are killing me! And the fact I know that they are Twilight references is killing me even more! Still, I can't seem to give up on these books. They are strangely addicting. I'm not sure I can say I'll ever read this book again, but I just have to know what happens... It's imperative whether or not I like it at this point.

**I received an e-copy of this book from the author but this has not affected my review in any way.

Autumn along with Grey and other Hoover residents embarks in a rescue mission despite the sandstorm after an accident happened in a settlement in Vegas..... The betrayal from someone Autumn had started to like and trust had caused more deaths and injuries..... Autumn had high hopes in rescuing someone close to her heart with the help of Grey..... Infiltrators were in Vegas and Hoover's settlements and no one could be trusted..... Grey found out something about the Crimson Fever and thinks it's the most massive terrorist attack the Earth has ever seen..... Karl's identity and his grand plan has been revealed..... These are some of the things you don't want to miss out in this second book in the Autumn series.

I felt different emotions from this read. That scene when Grey and Autumn freed that traitor who caused the stampede and gas explosion had really pissed me off. I would've agreed with Franklin to just shot her or at least punish her. After the damaged she caused, she just ran away without any punishment?.... That scene when Arnett was dying and begging for help to find his family was really touching. I felt sorry for him and the other good guys serving Karl for being pressured and forced to serve him.....

I don't feel the chemistry between Autumn and Grey and I find it annoying when they were discussing about their relationship just right after the attack. There were injured and dead but they weren't on panic to check on how were the others. Although I was surprised with Karl's revelations, the attack in Hoover wasn't thrilling as what I expected.

Overall, this sequel was ok. It just didn't live up to my expectation. Although I like better the first book, I am still looking forward in reading the third book.

Yet again we have a brilliant story from Kirby Howell!

Autumn in the dark meadows Book 2 of the series is just as good as the first! This book is based around what is left of the people trying to rebuild and create some form of life, while the other half are with the Front, another group that is set on bringing down the first! I don't want to say anything else as I don't want to give any part of the story away.

Autumn has grown up so much and in this book she feels more like an Adult, a lough she does make poor decisions at times, I also didn't agree with her walking away from Grey! Why oh why would you do that when he has proven himself over and over?

So many characters from the first book came out of their shells in this book my favourite being Shad!! I completely adore his character, fun witty out going and he brings a happiness to the book that makes you smile.

There are definitely lots of twists and turns in this book and you never quite know what is going to happen, who is going to be snuffed out next! i also felt it was about time Autumn found herself in a spot of bother as well, a lough she is at the for-front al the time and has grey protection, i kinda feel the book has made her an invincible character, she has all these people dying or injured around her at all times and all she seems to get is sore feet or a dislocated shoulder,.? no one can come away unscathed every time...?

This book is full of action suspense, twists and turns that has your heart pumping. And yes we do see a nice amount of romance!

Definitely worth reading this series.

Exciting second book!

I am so delighted to say that this is just as good as the first book. Most taking place in another friendly survival community in Vegas.

We have accidents, terrorism, love and loss. We meet new people and see new friendships formed and old ones grow stronger
Another well written, well edited book, thank you.
Autumn finally is trusting Grey and finding out she really is stronger than she thought.
The evil Karl makes an appearance along with Front people planted in both the Hoover and Vegas communities. They don't know who can be trusted nor do we, the reader.
This is fast paced, like the first book, but Autumn pulls her head out and takes a chance on love at the end of the world as she knows it. Yay! I am so rooting for her and Grey.

Ok, another surprise twist in this one, at least I was not expecting it.
And that surprise takes us into book three which the authors have promised me will be this summer.

I did want to say the writing is so good I couldsee, feel, hear and smell the Hoover dam area. So much that I want to go see it. The writing was that good.
Also I could just see that little 8 year old Rissi and her behaviors, reminding me of my 8 year old granddaughter.

It's good. Read it. You will cringe at the new twist that makes for so much more excitement.

What happens in Vegas ... is downright scary.

It's been months since Autumn Winters had to flee L.A. after the Crimson Plague decimated most of humanity, but she's happily settled into a semi-normal life again in the peaceful community of Hoover, Nevada. However, when bad weather and a terrible accident occur in Las Vegas, she and her friends must band together to go help their neighbors.

And the news just gets worse, as it would seem that Karl, the self-appointed ruler of L.A., has planted spies and informants in their own community, and news of an all-out attack looms large. Autumn must find a way to work with Gray (who dropped a whale of a bombshell on her at the end of the first chapter) so they can save their friends and keep their way of life intact.

Full of action, intrigue, betrayals, more action, and a side trip to Area 51 (!), Autumn and the Dark Meadows is a fantastic read that I had a hard time putting down. I am so glad that I don't have long to wait before I'm able to read the conclusion to the trilogy! Well done, Kirby Howell!

Omg... WHAT?!

description

All the signs were there but... WHAT!? Lawd I need to keep better track in what's happening in the book... I keep missing important clues as to what the hell is going on and it ends up smacking me in the face at the end of the book.

I'm sick of doing this...

The apocalypse continues as Autumn and her new friends and family struggle to rebuild and move on. I enjoyed the hopeful tone of the survivors' efforts to create a new world for themselves. Though I found myself frustrated with Autumn in the beginning of the book, I could understand her feelings and it didn't lessen my like for the book. I really liked the world-building and mental imagery of the scenes in Las Vegas and beyond (trying to avoid spoilers, here); the situations were realistic and sparked my imagination to wonder "what if?" More surprising twists arise at the end of the book, leaving me anxiously waiting for the next in the series. Write fast, Kirby Howell!

Wow...hope there are more coming soon

having read many in this genre, I am pleasantly surprised at these first (I hope), two novels. the second left me anxious for more and appreciative for the enjoyable hours I spent reading it. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys good action adventure, romance, a touch of futurism, with lots of family and friend connection.
A. GOOD READ! ! ! !

This is the second book in The Autumn Series and I loved it more than the first. It is one of those books that you can't put down. You have to know what is going to happen next. Now I have to wait for book 3 to come out and I have no idea as to when that will be. I hope it is soon.

Enjoyed the second book in the series. I thought at times, the main characters seemed a little shallow and the distention between them was dragged out. But overall can't wait for book 3.

A good sequel, not quite as fun as the first book, but definitely worth the read. My only real complaint is Autumn, who was quite annoying the first half of the book.
