Part Three in the Yes, Forever Serial

From zero to sixty in record time—well, it’s really from no man to two in a matter of days, and it’s got John’s world turned upside down!
Confused and angry, John goes home after an odd encounter with an older man. He’s pretty sure he didn’t like it, exactly. Maybe. Benji seems to have moved on, and John knows he should too, but he can’t stop thinking about the contradictory man.

Finding another note from Benji doesn’t help. John knows he’s made mistakes, and he’s learning that he has been lying to himself for years. Slowly, he realises there are things he has to admit, and change.

First, though, he has to talk to Benji. John won’t have any peace until he and Benji make some sort of peace. If his heart is telling him he truly wants something more, John doesn’t see how that can work, not when Benji makes it clear he’s interested, but only in a part of John.

But John can’t give up, something about Benji calls to him like no one else ever has.

A few things about me...

I am a married mom of four who spends most of the day writing, either on stories or at the blog. I love to write as much as I love to read. I am generally quiet and laid back, choosing to let things slide off me rather than stick and irritate me.

And it's really hard trying to think of descriptives for myself, so I'll just let y'all e-mail me or comment at the blog if there's something specific you'd like to know, and spare you from reading a boring bio:D

This review will be for all stories in this series although I may refer to something from each individual one. All of them make one whole.

John is a gay man who happens to suffer from clinical depression. Do not link one with the other. The treatment of his disease feels real as it has no easy or quick fix. It is a real disease that he must deal with for the entirety of his life. The problem is he is letting his fear of a recurring episode rule his life. He lives in Texas, not a friendly place for a gay man.

John had one friend, Henry, who really knew him, knew about the depression that had at times knocked John on his ass. Henry is also gay, but only and always a friend to John, a friend without benefits. He knows John better than anyone. His observations make John reconsider some of his life decisions.

Another thing was, he wanted to like himself...

That was part of the root of it. It made him feel good to be wanted, but he suspected being loved and with someone who respected him would make him feel a hell of a lot better than good.

John's family is supportive. His Mom wants him to find a nice guy to love and settle down. All of her other kids are married and she wants the same for her son. No matter that Texas does not allow same sex marriages, to her the commitment and love is what is important.

He wondered if he deserved a happy ever after. Why was he so hard on himself? What was up with that level of self-loathing? If anyone had asked him if he hated himself, he'd had said no without doubting it. But for him to think he didn't deserve to be happy was just fucked up.

John's apartment neighbors are delightful characters. One has his grandson, Benji, staying with him. From the first meeting, John lusted after Benji. Finally John and Benji talk and reach an understanding, but not one that gives comfort to John.

Misunderstandings and miscommunications abound, yet an interesting short. Read all of them one after the other.

I have to say, I was really happy that John and Benji were finally able to sit down and talk about what was going on between the two of them. That was so great for them to do it, they were able to clear the air about the feelings they were both having towards each other. I completely agree with what Henry was explaining to John, that he needs to find his happy medium.

I don’t completely agree with the relationship that John and Benji agreed upon, but I am completely holding out hope that they will realize they belong together!

This is another great short in the series by Bailey and I can’t wait to find out what happens next! Bailey seems to have the ability to end things right when they start getting good, and leave you wanting for more!
