Sterek AU. Werewolf!Stiles deals with nefarious soul-sucking witch spells, Scott's inability to be a fully functioning adult, Danny's incessant need to make everything about sex, and finding out that his mate is Derek Hale. Tuesdays suck.
AU where everyone is a werewolf (except Danny, who's an incubus) and packs don't really exist. This makes Scott super sad, so one night he gets drunk on "were-beer" and pays a witch to strengthen his group of friend's bonds (with Stiles as the alpha). This leads to issues. Oh, and Derek is Stiles' mate--what else would he be? Again, Derek isn't very Dereky but it's fun and cute.
So this is basically a werewolf AU where Stiles is the alpha of his pack and it reads like defeating said-baddie-of-the-week. In and among life threatening, soul sucking witches, he comes across his mate Derek. Lots of claiming, pining, scenting ensues as they race against time to not get dead.
It's probably not one of the best written fics around (Zosofi, I know for a fact you can do much better. You can blow my mind. Come on), but it is supremely enjoyable.
All full of sniffing and tension and supernatural critters who are officially out of the closet about their supernaturalness, including werewolves and witches, it emanates good vibes and fun.
A lot could be improved, e.g. Derek as a whole, but there is also a lot that is as good as it gets. 4 stars is stretching it a bit, but whatever, yolo or something.
This was a pretty good story. This is a Sterek fanfiction story. For those of you that don't know...Sterek fanfic is based off 2 male characters, Stiles and Derek, from the TV show Teen Wolf. In the show they're both heterosexual but some viewers have fantasized about them together in a m/m relationship and thus Sterek was born. This story has paranormal in it but other than some of the characters being the same there's no resemblance to the TV show.
So in this world, werewolves and other paranormal beings are known and part of the normal world. Stiles has been a werewolf all his life and is an Alpha but there seems to be a lot of alpha's in this world. There's technically supposed to be alphas, betas and omegas but in Stiles' pack they're all alpha's except for Jackson and Stiles is just the uber Alpha who is the leader. Unfortunately, Stiles tries to say he's not the pack Alpha which has Scott in a tizzy and gets them in to the mess that starts the story.
Scott got drunk at a party and ended up letting a witch do a spell on him. It was supposed to strengthen the pack bonds so that they'd feel the bonds stronger (with Stiles as the Alpha of course). The spell did this but it also bonded them to a evil witch that wants to use the bond for something really bad. Stiles and his pack realize what's going on and start working on trying to figure out how to get rid of the spell. While they're working on figuring things out, Stiles meets up with Derek who happens to be his mate (in this world werecreatures can sense their mate by smell). They both grew up in Beacon Hills but Derek has been out of town until recently and they didn't really know each other before. Things are a bit difficult because Stiles and his pack are going through a lot of crap and Derek (and his pack) get thrown in to things in order to help Stiles get out of things alive. There's some difficult times and some drama but Derek and Stiles come through things alright. Once this is accomplished they're then able to concentrate on getting to know each other as mates and figuring out their HEA together.
This was an enjoyable story. I liked Stiles and Derek and the story in general but there were a few times when things seemed a bit...off. Not bad but sometimes things just didn't seem to fit quite perfectly. This story was still interesting and I liked seeing Stiles and Derek getting past the danger and finding their HEA. Overall, the story wasn't perfect but I did like it and it was really cool to see a BAMF Stiles. :D
3.5 stars Stiles' POV (and a guest Derek thrown in). url: http://archiveofourown.org/works/5409... Wasn't all that interested based on the summary, but very likeable writing here -- good characters, good setting, good execution. Stiles is boss (alfalfa, ha) and Derek is super cute. Author knows her stuff.
I'm bumping this up a star on pure enjoyment. It was different...and that's part of it's charm. I wouldn't say I loved it, but I enjoyed it a great deal.
