In 1890 in Sugar Loaf, Arkansas Olivia as a young girl was forced by her father to marry an abusive husband. In the beginning I had a hard time getting into the story, as I read the story became more interesting.
Olivia was free from her husband after several years of marriage. She begins her life over as she goes to her grandmother's house. There she finds God's healing and grace. This is a story of tragedy and forgiveness. A love story of misunderstanding and hardships that is set right in the end.
There were plenty of twists and turns that kept me interested. The novel was beautifully written although some of the tragedies were tough to read through. This is a remarkable, Christian, Inspirational fiction book but I would only recommend it to adults due to the subject matter.
This storyline deals with abuse against woman, for the timeline women were mens property. It takes a strong woman to get through a situation like that and Olivia is it. This story has drunkenness, gambling, kidnapping and rape. Thank goodness the there are Christians in this book to get some forgiveness in Olivia's life. If you like westerns with drama and an HEA, read this.
Even though A Heart For Grace was rather predictable to me I enjoyed this book. I enjoy Christian books. I especially liked Olivia and Jed and the relationship that developed so suddenly. I can't say anything else or O might give too much away. Yes, it is a good book to sit and relax with.
A very nice entertaining read. Just what I needed at this point in my life. The emphasis on God's grace and His purpose through everything was very timely.
Forgiveness and Grace! Olivia has had a heart life. Abusive father that made her marry. Abusive husband. Able to move and start a new life, allowed for new beginnings. Jed had a tragic incident in his past. Raising his daughter, Grace, has been hard on his own. Seeking a caregiver, he hires Olivia. Things are really going well when bad things happen. Olivia relies on God to carry her through the pain. Great book!
