Vampire Elite is the epic story of a bitter conflict between two immortal races―and the effect of that conflict on everyone living in its grip. The characters are driven to love and betrayal, vengeance and sacrifice in a world without easy black-and-white answers.
A millennia-long war between two immortal races is about to come to an end. Long ago, the Vampire Elite began capturing the immortals called the Amiti, attracted by their unique blood properties. Now most Amiti live in underground cells, forced to serve as vampires' bloodstock. The few surviving free Amiti, preparing a final strike, have declared their Queen a traitor. Her execution makes possible the rise of a new Queen, her young daughter Arianna, who will inherit her mother's mystical powers. Working with the Keepers of the Key, Arianna may be able to eliminate the vampires, once and for all, from the face of the earth.
The new Queen is the last hope to save her dying race―and she's ready to fight to the last drop of her blood.

Before I started reading this book, I thought it was going to be another fluffy vamp romance book - which is totally fine, I really was feeling that I needed a vamp-lovin' fix. WOW! I was totally off base there. The blurb really does not do this novel justice. Maybe it's just me, but I see "passion that erupts" and I think romance. Although this book has romantic qualities to it, I wouldn't consider it a romance. This is more of a fantasy tale of the evolving war between these two races, and ultimately good and evil.
I loved the ancient Egyptian aspects to this book. I found it extremely interesting and loved how intricately placed it was throughout the entire story. There's a glossary in the beginning of the book if in case you need some further information if you get lost with the vastness of this world, but I personally found it unnecessary. There was plenty of explanation throughout the story.
There's so many things about this book that I found completely fantastic. I think my favourite part of this book was actually not really a part of the story, rather than the construction of the novel. This is the first of a series, but there's just so much meat here! Honestly, I feel like I won the lottery with this book! Often when a book is split up into a series, it means that the books are fairly short. Kind of like there's really one book, but it was split up into installments. This is definitely a beefy book, nearly 400 pages. I found several places that would have been adequate to end a first installment, in order to create more books in the series, and theoretically, more income from the series, but this wasn't done. THANK YOU AUTHORS! I get so frustrated by this, and the best part is, even after sitting through these 400 pages, I still wanted more. The only thing that really made the book feel long to me is that I wasn't able to read it in a sitting!
The cast in this book is extremely well developed and plentiful. Everyone seemed to have their own agenda, as well as their own growth of character. I'm boggled at how an author can so masterfully develop so many characters! It is extremely impressive and left me wanting to know more about all of them.
The story itself is addicting. I found myself staying up way to late at night trying to read as much as I could. There were so many parts where I just could no longer figure out which was the "good" side vs which was the "bad" side. And with an ending like this novel has, I can't wait to read the second book to find out who is who!
I definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes paranormal.
Note: I received this book for free for honest review.
This was a hot mess. It is not entirely without appeal, but wow there was so many characters, and I am getting dizzy right now thinking of who all was with who.
In the lead in, we get this tale about blood-bonds and how rare they are and how poorly understood, and then pretty much everyone in the book has a blood-bond and a total and perfect understanding of them.
Arianna is a totally useless piece of fluff who never accomplishes anything but looking stoic in the face of yet another humiliation, Simone ...ugh first she abandons her sister that she supposedly loves for a guy, and she accomplishes even less than Arianna does, not even managing to be stoic, and her "rescue" attempts are just so awful. Also, strong female leads need to spend less time as victims needing a man to rescue them, and more time doing things that aren't useless.
The plot was all over the place. There was some good in here somewhere, and some of the characters were not all bad, but good god, pick a few, and stick with them, and 1 romance per book is about my limit. 6 romances is just too many. It has been said that this is not a romance novel, but if I am to believe that, I'd need to understand why so much time was spent on the various romantic interludes of all the characters.
There is a lot happening in this book. More than probably should have been included in it. Basically, if I was editing it, I'd have asked for more time on fewer characters, more time on what is happening, and on slowly peeling back layers, rather than throwing it all out on the page and telling so much. More show, less tell.
I'd give it 2.5 stars, but GR only allows full star ratings, and I can't get this to 3 stars.
The war between two immortal races has been going on forever. What Amiti' s are slaves locked up by the Vampire Elite. Those that are free long to end the reign of the vampires. When a new Queen arises it is the hope of the Amitit that Arianna will bring the end of the vampires. She will have to learn how to use her powers and decide what she wants to do. When you love some of the Elite it just makes the choices that much harder.
I wasn't sure what to expect out of this book when I started it. You are thrust right into the world of vampires and Amiti' s. This isn't your ordinary vampire book. While it does have romance somewhat it really has so much more. The author does a wonderful job setting up the story you dive right into it. You see what both sides of this war face and their struggles. Don't think this is some kind of fluff book because it's not. It has plenty of action from chases, fights, loving, jumping out of helicopters and tons more. You never really know what is going to happen from one page to another and it keeps you on your toes. There is a lot of characters in this book and it seems you learn more about them the more you read. You see them grow and grow. There is also several other paranormal beings in this book some I wasn't expecting. I won't say a lot about this book because I don't want to spoil it. I will say if your looking for a different book about vampires that is outside the box of the latest ones out try this one. It has a darker, edgier feel to it one you can really sink your teeth into.
I'm not a big fan of vampire stories, but I had my eye on this book for quite some time before deciding to splurge. The premise fascinated me Irina has brought really fresh n fantastic book as her novel. It is definitely worth the price. This book is my best vampire book on my shelf. Anyone who has ever loved the vampire needs to get this book! It captures the reader from the beginning and it gets very intense. It draws you in like you are in the story. It was interesting and captivating. i like the scene when Amiti falls in love with the King of the Sekhmet. and then the exciting battle begins. that all were very interesting. totally page turner book. highly recommend.
This book was truly amazing. It totally blew my mind!
I want to have the following instalment NOW!
An Amity Queen, a vampire king, a half amiti-half vampire princess, sexy and stormed vampires and love stories so enthralling and heartstopping you won't be able to stop reading. (or at least that happened to me XD)
It's different from what I've been reading lately, it's an adult book, and here vampires are vampires. (not that the other weren't but you know... shining and being "vegetarians" and all that, it's cute but not very "vampiric")
And overall my review will be a collection of ramblings, I can't seem to make it properly I'm still so excited about it!!! :D
"I decree that your path will be difficult beyond measure", she cursed her infant daughter, her voice cold. "You will suffer and bleed, and in order to save your people you will have to sacrifice your greatest love. That, you little witch, is my parting gift to you"
Yup, with mother's like that who needs enemies right? (no spoiler here, you can learn this like in page 3)...
There are many races that are part of this book but mainly we find Winged demons and of course vampires (Nightwalkers and Elite) and Amiti. Humans are almost missing from the story. (very original too) I love the characteristics of each race, how unique they are and the way they relate, their traditions and legends. Amiti's way to seduce Sekhmi like sirens is thrilling.
Another thing I loved is how each subplot, each love story unfolds independently but at the same time enriching the main storyline.
The writing is superb and the characters are well constructed. I couldn't help to get attached to almost all of them.
My heart ached for Anock though. He was not only strong, brave, caring and absolutely "huggable" (if that's not a word, now it is!) his soul is also tortured and he always want to do the right thing.
Sorry Cara! but you were the worst character in the book... well built, that's for sure, but never won my affection.
Tor and Arianna's romance OMG! I wanted to step in the book and help them find a solution! So heart wrenching!
And the end... well UNEXPECTED!
As I said, can't wait for the next book! Please Irina Argo write fast!
I promise to write something better but believe me, if you like a good read, this is one of them! Totally recommended :)
"The Vampire Elite" by Irina Argo is a suspenseful, dramatic, and biographical tale of two classes of elite beings that have been engaged in a millennia-long conflict. Arianna is the queen of the Amiti race, nurturing and wise beings that can evoke the hidden compassionate qualities Sekhmi, or vampires, instinctively hide. The Amiti were cursed in their genetic fabric from their creation for two specific abilities: the power to kill Sekhmi they have bonded with and the need for Sekhmi to drink their blood for survival. Living in constant fear of domination by the Amiti, long ago the Sekhmi decided it best to hunt down and imprison the Amiti race in order to harvest their blood without retribution. As the new Amiti queen, Arianna, comes into her powers she is threatened from every end of the globe by people who wish to manipulate her role for their own benefit. How will two races that are essentially perfect for fulfilling each other's needs, yet ingrained to fear each other, survive the tumult that their history has led them to? Passion, trust, deceit, injustice, compassion - this book torments your emotions with every chapter. The Vampire Elite" serves as a clear example of how our modern cultural conflicts have become so irresolute. Irina Argo builds a steady momentum in unfolding the complex, but compelling history and the world of her immortal races. Starting on page one may make five hundred pages seem like an uphill battle to get through, but at the end you scream, 'Where's the second book?!' The erotic weaknesses of Argo's immortals raise suspense to a new level, giving hormonal unpredictability to their actions. Irina Argo's characters are fascinating and the conflict engages you to see them through to the end. Don't waste a month's salary on popcorn and theater tickets when a book like "The Vampire Elite" can whisk you away like a magical passport. Be warned, if you read this, you'll be longing for the next installments!
After reading Irina Argo's novel, Vampire Elite, I was genuinely left speechless by the magnificence of the book. Presently, our culture is being infiltrated with literature and films concerning a supernatural theme. However, I was pleasantly surprised that Vampire Elite is vastly different than simply another novel of this genre. In fact, Vampire Elite combines elements from an array of genres making it an irresistible page turner for members of every audience. This book eloquently includes aspects of action, suspense, romance, mythological history, and sensuality. Furthermore, there is never a dull moment within the pages of this book. "She knew she was beautiful- and it wasn't vanity, just a fact [...] " This quote taken from page 260 of VE explains pointedly the boldness of this book if it were personified. This novel is factually beautiful. The characters enhance this beauty through their astonishing ability to be perceived as relatable to the reader. Although this novel does revolve around characters that are not human, (but rather vampires and Amiti), it is easy to relate to the thoughts and feelings of the characters. Some characters display feelings of lust and greed for power, while others display actions of pure and innocent love and affection. All of these traits are innate to humans, therefore when reading this text I assure you you will be emotionally invested. I rated Irina Argo's Vampire Elite 5 stars because it absolutely deserves the highest rating possible. Once I started reading- I couldn't put the book down; and when I finally finished this exciting novel I longed for even more! The ending of this book I found to be a truly spectacular and a satisfying conclusion to the thrilling climax that arouse throughout the book. Argo writes with such artistic fluency that readers of all genres are sure to fall instantly and insanely in love with Vampire Elite.
Where to start with this amazing book, it's crazy how much is going while the author tells this amazing story; I just love it. I like how this story is based an ancient Egyptian legend; I am fascinated with legends. Especially the Egyptians, which why I was so excited to read this book and let me tell you, you won't be disappointed reading this book because it has more than a legends. It has romance, betrayal, action, and so much more. I just didn't know what to expect with this read and that just another reason why I loved this book. The story line is amazing I have never read anything like, it's totally unique, but also the style the author used to write the book is pretty amazing and genius way to do too. It gave all this information, but she gave it in a way that didn't bore you or confused, it just made perfect sense. When she gave us new information or a new character; she made sure to introduce this character and then she let us meet him better by letting us read that certain character perspective of what happen. Which was even more genius, because instead of waiting maybe for another book to get that other characters story like in other books, but you don't with this book because this author gives many point of views. Which was pretty clever and cool to get their other characters views during this book, it made sure to explain each character better. This book is everywhere, I love it and not just because it paranormal, but that certainly a huge plus, but because the author truly delivers everything that would make and great book even better. That why I gave this book five stars and cannot wait for the next book, which I am sure will be even more crazy but equally more amazing. So grab this book and get started on, you would not be disappointed.
This book was amazing from beginning to end. I liked how the author explained her characters in the beginning. What each one was and the purpose they portrayed in the story line. So there was no confusion. No short story here. A full length novel is what you get. Worth so much more than 5 stars. Sometimes when I read books, I get the same story with just different character. Not with this book. The author made a very unique topic. Amiti and Vampires fighting for power. Vampires show their powers by keeping Amiti as bloodstock. They're put in metal square cells and drained of their blood to feed Vampires. Which leaves them weak and vunlnerable. The Amiti has the powers of the keepers with a turn of a key can destroy the vampires to extinction. Great twist to keep you edge and yelling at the book. The scenes are well played. The characters. Oh the characters are hot. The characters of this story are many emotions, anywhere from sweet to evil, loving to hatred and everything in between. Don't even get me started on betrayal. There was some much betrayal which keep the story interesting and moving forward. Sex scenes were full of passion. Which popped up every now and then, in turn giving the book a little erotic fever. I recommend this book to anyone looking for chaos. Very Addicting!
I have to say that I love the way this book ended. It left me salivating fir the next book. This book takes vampires to a new level. the story is complex, the characters are intriguing, you love them one minute and end up yelling at them in the next. This story is about love and fear, and what happens when deny one emotion and allow the other to controk you. I have to admit the beginning of the story bothered me, and I was not sure I would enjoy the hook. I am glad I continued reading the story. it helped me understand that the obvious answers is not the easiest or correct answer. Give thus book a try, I think younwill enjoy it.

The beginning of this book had a glossary to get you up to speed to the terms and world created in this book. I found the glossary helpful and was glad it was there, rather than overloading the reader from the start with lots of wordy and long explanations.
Vampire Elite was a fantastic read! I stayed up all night to read this, I just could not put it down!! Just when I was thinking ok now is a good time to put it down and sleep… BAM something else happened.
I was torn when it came to a end. I felt like crying out loud… NO. It ends in a sticky situation, and I NEED to know what happens next!
Some characters you think, oh I am not going to like him/her at all. Then they develop and show new sides, so you have to root for them to work out. Oberon was one of these characters for me. I thought of he is so bad, and crazy… then Sim happened….
The characters are so well developed and multifaceted. I just can’t recommend this book enough or give it enough stars.
Those fans of J.R. Ward, Lynsay Sands, Gena Showalter will love this book!
Honestly I have read many stories in this genre and I would have to say that this story had no major original concepts, only the details differed from hundreds of similar stories. I absolutely loved this book.It keeps you wondering what happens next! I didn't like how it would just all of the sudden jump to the next day. It had a very good ending too. This story is a must read. It captures the reader from the beginning and it gets very intense. It draws you in like you are in the story. It was interesting and captivating. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good emotions, fun and romantic vampire novel I promise you never regret. Seriously, the Great book by "Irina". She is a great author. i love her book. Honestly Could not put it down and finished it within a day. Loved the whole story line and twists and turns. Thumbs up. Simply Greatt!!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I am a fan of the paranormal genre with vampires as a theme, and I found that the authors’ (aka Irina Argo) version of vampires and the Amiti is extremely refreshing and different from the version I see depicted in other novels. The first thing I noticed about Irina Argo's "Vampire Elite" was that there were some great references to an old Egyptian Legend within it. Anything that has such references will get my attention right away. All things are very impressive.
are you kidding me? why would it end there, and there's no release date for the next book. how am i supposed to cope? please let the next book get released soon. the more the book came to its end, the more i kept wishing it was longer, WOW.
I barely got into the first chapter and I just sort of sighed and thought this isn't for me its too serious and too complicated already. I mean complicated by my brain isn't coping with what is going on and to be honest this book isn't holding my attention enough and I haven't and will not read books I have no desire for this year like I made myself do last year. This year is the year of reading what I want.
I can’t really explain what intrigues me about the vampire genre in film, TV, and fiction. But, I’ve been a fan since the Lost Boys days when the Coreys (Haim and Feldman) were stealing our hearts in 80’s movies. When I discovered Anne Rice, I devoured her Vampire Chronicles series book after book, often finding myself happily afraid to sleep with the lights off in my undergrad dorm room. Since then, I’ve taken the dive into the Sookie Stackhouse novels, as well as the Twilight series. Those sated my vampire palate, but many things about these novels were more annoying than enjoyable. Then, I discovered Vampire Elite.
Irina Argo introduces readers to adult immortals with adult problems. Her vampire world is constructed with an Egyptian creation story involving Ra and his Old Lady Hathor (she’s very Ancient Gemma Teller) with the spawning of two undying creatures: the Sekhmet and the Amiti. Sekhmet are what we would associate with vampires. They are bloody thirsty, and hard up for that good red stuff. To help balance their power, Hathor creates the Amiti to attract the Sekhmet, form a blood-bond, and defuse all those “let’s kill humans for food” desires. What she doesn’t count own is the Sekhmet figuring out the downside of this arrangement, and the awesomeness of Amiti blood.
Fast forward to modern times, when Amiti leadership depose of the reigning Queen Istara to make way for a monarch who is more open to their “kill all vampires” philosophy. It also doesn’t help that the queen’s hubby is a Sekhmet. She’s forced to mate with another Amiti, Marcus, and conceive a daughter to take her place. You can imagine that this forges a very cold relationship between the queen and her baby girl. Istara curses the rug rat who will be Queen, to have a hard knock life. When the child, Arianna, finally becomes an adult, her mother’s curse comes to fruition. She becomes a pawn in a very selfish, complicated game at the hands of Tor (A.K.A. Istara’s vampire boo), her half-sister Simone, some cray cray Sekhmets, and a host of other immortals including her peeps, the Amiti.
I loved this book from beginning to end. I like how Ms. Argo weaves in other immortal creatures into the story, like winged demons and werejaguars (Grrr, baybay, grrrr), to make a very diverse creature world. There’s no sappy romances or plot inconsistencies. I also liked how the story point of view switched from character to character, and new players were added in well into the story. Once you get started, you’ll be hooked until the very last page. This author is on my radar. Bleep. Bleep. Check her out at http://www.vampire-elite.com/.
VAMPIRE ELITE is the first storyline in the Vampire Elite series co-authored by the writing team of Irina Argo. The series premise is based on Egyptian legends, gods and their descendants and is packed with world building, character development and, enough betrayal and heartbreak for a lifetime let alone centuries of pain and sorrow.
The legend states that vampires were created when a goddess became enraged and the blood she trailed created a new species dependent on blood to survive. When the vampires all but annihilated the human population another species of immortals was formed –the Amiti-as a source of blood for the vampires. But over time the Amiti became like cattle (bloodstock) to the vampires and the two species remained distinct and separate and, have been at war with each other for centuries. PROPHECY: VAMPIRE ELITE is a contemporary paranormal storyline of racism, segregation, abuse and sacrifice between the species. There are flashbacks as well as several parallel storylines that will all coalesce in the final scenes of book one.
There is plenty of background information on which the storyline premise has been built and the bigger problem between the species is the blood bonding between vampire and Amiti- that in many cases leads to a physical and emotional relationship of love and hate-and under these circumstances it is akin to a mortal sin and blasphemy against their own kind. In this, we have several scenarios that push the storyline forward when the King of the Vampires falls in love with the Queen of the Amiti. What ensues is the utmost betrayal between lovers and a declaration of war between the species.
VAMPIRE ELITE is a well written, explicitly detailed and fascinating dark story of two species who have become master and slave. The storyline is fraught with betrayal and heartbreaking sorrow as lovers becomes enemies-at some point all blood bonded lovers will know the loss of a mate; torture; destruction of a relationship and the tearing of a soul shared through the blood bond between the species. There was not one relationship or couple unaffected by the end of book one.
Irina Argo has taken a vampire tale and placed a spin all their own. This is a dark tale of racism and specieism– that excludes rights to one group (Amiti) over another (vampires): whereby one becomes the cattle to be used and abused; where membership in one species definitely has its’ privileges; and death is a blessing for many. At times the altruistic nature of the relationships is painful and hard. PROPHECY: Vampire Elite is NOT your sparkly vampire series.
I received a copy of Vampire Elite in exchange for an honest review!
Vampire Elite is a fun adult fantasy romance. It mixes vampire lore with ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses. The book focuses on several characters, a few different love stories and the battle between the vampires and the Amiti.
There is a lot of back story and mythology involved in Vampire Elite starting with the creation of the two races. The Amiti have effectively been reduced to bloodstock for vampires, fetching extremely high prices at auction. Vampires can blood-bond with an Amiti, sharing their powers, but this gives the Amiti control over the vampire.
The book starts with the Amiti Queen facing betrayal, and the resulting quest for vengeance. Focusing on two remarkable young women the story is a sort of coming of age tale. Simone is the half-blood daughter of vampire King Tor and the former Amiti Queen Istara. Istara is forced to leave Tor and have a pureblood child with the Amiti, Marcus. Istara's other daughter Arianna is now the new future Queen of the Amiti.
I really liked Arianna, and felt so sorry for her - the poor girl really suffers! It seems pretty much everybody has an agenda when it comes to Arianna, her powers, life in general and what she should do and who she should love. Simone was harder to like, namely because some of her actions seem petty and harsh at times. I could see where she was coming from, but I often found her to be selfish and then she'd surprise me by being really selfless.
I will say that even with the glossary I found the numerous names and terms slightly confusing, but not enough to put me off from reading the next book, tbh these terms were really interesting!
There are many twists and turns in Vampire Elite, and I was often left wondering what could possibly happen next?! There's also a lot of sex scenes and descriptions, so be prepared for a sexy fantasy story with a darker edge.
4 Stars in my Sky!
My fav non-spoilery quotes:
*Jealousy blossomed in her, a monstrous sunflower, its black center swallowing her heart. *He wanted to comfort her, but the words stuck in his throat. What could he say? What would a lion say to his prey? *"She's an Amiti. They're all about love. I mean, look at Istara? Amiti will do anything for love."
Vampire Elite is the first book in a new series by Irina Argo. The vampire elite are using a sub species of immortal called the Amiti as their bloodstock. They are kept in captivity and used solely to feed the elite. The Amiti want their freedom and their new Queen wants to help achieve this, war between the species could potentially eradicate both races, but they continue to fight for the upper hand.
This book is full of some of the most amazing characters. More than I could ever write about in a short review. I sometimes find that I am confused when dealing with a lot of characters in one book that play prominent roles, but Argo did the perfect job of introducing them to the reader and making their roles clear. All of these characters interacted flawlessly. Arianna is the young Queen of the Amiti, she is still unaware of her power and her role, but she does know she has to do what she can to free and protect her people. It is the goal of Tor, the vampire king, to make Arianna fall in love with him to keep her under his thumb, but soon finds the feeling of love mutual. Simone is another pivotal character in the book; she is daughter of Tor and half-sister to Arianna. In the beginning I did not like her character, she came across as selfish and spoiled, but I began to see subtle changes in her as the book progressed.
With a touch of Egyptian Mythology, I found this book to be beautifully written. This was one of the few times that I became so entranced in a book I forgotten it was my job to review it! The book isn’t a fast paced thriller, yet it appeals to the heart. Argo showed a world that isn’t black and white. There was no defined good and bad or love and hate. It was the gray areas that made this story worth reading. She brought the characters to life in a way the reader could feel their torment and triumph.
It isn’t often that I finish a book and am rendered near speechless, but I loved this book. Everything about it appealed to me from the mythology to the tragedy and the love. If you are a reader who is looking for the clear HEA you won’t find it in this installment, a fact that only leaves me even more excited for the next book.

There are so many characters that are all interlinked, somehow. It probably doesn't help that most of the characters are hundreds, if not thousands, of years old. There are also a TON of different organizations, and divisions within those organizations, and titles of people and titles of people's relationships to others...It was very overwhelming to get all this information so quickly, and kind of difficult to keep track of all this throughout the story, especially when you're trying to recall things explained early in the book. It wasn't until I finished the book that I discovered there's a glossary at the end...whoops. Anyhow it probably is inconvenient to flip back and forth to it on my Kindle.
Characters - there are about a dozen of them that are important. Probably more. They are all related to related to each other somehow, too, either by bonding or by living together, or by nature of their positions. Things become even more tangled up in this book as everyone starts blood-bonding with others, or at very least sleeping with them.
POV - changes very often. A little too often, IMHO. Almost all the characters get to narrate at some point: Simone, Arianna, Tor, Anock, Antar, Theroes, Oberon, Desiree, Crian..and those are just the ones I can remember right now!
While I liked that this book is long, I do think it could have been broken down in to more manageable chunks. POV changes could have been delineated better and maybe having fewer narrators would have worked just as well, especially since I didn't think the different narrators were very insightful. You just get told things - people were suddenly in love and feeling things they never felt before. That gets boring after 2 characters go through it, but to have almost everyone I listed above, and some I'm forgetting to list, go through it? Yeah, repetitive much?
Granted, while all those were what made me not like the book so much - overall it's enjoyable. You get a different telling of how vampires are created, some magic, lots of feuding, and general lack of communication between all parties. Then you add in old jealousies and personal preservation (and selfishness) and things get really hectic.
I feel like I've invested so much time and brain power reading this book I should read the next one too...
I was given this book for exchange of an honest review BUT I purchased it as well. Yes, this book is that good. I am not an avid reader of this genre, but it caught my attention and I could not put it down.
I am a sucker for historical reads, and this book goes into the background story of the characters. I ABSOLUTELY loved learning about the Amiti and Sekhmi. The way this story is written, it makes you really wonder if vampires and immortals do really coexist on Earth with us.
The story is based on revenge for the death of Tor's, the King of the Skhmi, love, Istara, the Queen of the Amiti. Istara is the mother of two daughters. One half Amiti and Sekhmi, Simone, the daughter of Tor. Another daughter, Adianna, an Amiti, the daughter of Marcus.
I hate to give too much away as I dislike spoilers, but the Amiti were created to keep the Sekhmi company, to keep them happy. The Sekhmi feed off the Amiti and it has become a huge problem. Instead of coming one, the Sekhmi are just using the Amiti as bloodstock, and not bonding with them. King Tor needs to bloodbond with Adianna, because she needs the Gift of Ra because she is now the Queen of the Amiti. He had is from Istara, but with her dead, her gift to him is pretty much gone. This novel is about what the King will to get what he wants and he gets a lot more.
There is a lot of OMG and I can't believe that happened. I am ready for the next part!!! I mark it as a MUST READ!
Vampire Elite is about a war between two races the Amiti and Vampires (Sekhmet) that has been going for centuries. Vampires use Amiti blood as bloodstock as their blood possesses unique attributes that give the vampires powers (basically the Amiti can transfer their powers through their blood). Throughout the store you meet Simone (half vampire – half Amiti), Arianna (Amiti Queen), Tor (Vampire King) and various others. You are pulled into a tall wind of events leading up to one big one…whether or not the Keepers of the Key will turn the key and forever kill all vampires. The characters all have unique personalities that make you either love them or want to kill them yourself and the events around each one of them leads your running through a slew of emotions (anger, sadness, happiness).
I will admit that at first it was hard for me to get into the book and there are a few times that I almost stopped altogheter but I told myself that I would read a little bit more to see if my opinion would change and it did. I ended the book wanting to read more! Like movie endings, there is a cliffhanger and I left off wanting to find out about Arianna and Tor, what would become of Simone and her blood-bond and will the others find their mates…..Book 2 is definitely a must read!
I adored this book. It is a completely fresh and unique take on vampires. I loved that the story is based on an Egyptian legend, but for some of the societies they brought in some Norse lore also. It felt very diverse and the characters were very well written. I must say that though this story is very sexually charged it doesn’t encompass the whole story. Simone is one of the most prominent sexual beings but you really don’t see that until you are almost half-way through the book. You see her love for Antar but you don’t realize how sexual she is until her tryst with Anock and Odji her bodyguards. Also, I liked Simone but she was a bit aggravating at times. Sometimes, when it came to Arianna her half Sister she was very kind and protective but others she was so selfish and self-centered it seemed almost like a multiple personality. Though the book blurb really concentrates on Arianna and Tor’s story there are so many other people and stories going on you really develop a love for these characters and their search for love and blood. Overall, I felt this was a great new edition to the Vampire genre. It is fresh and unique. Its steeped in legends from Egypt to Norse. I personally can’t wait to read the next in the series. If you like Vampire books you will love this!
Great Book! I really enjoyed this book. The attention to detail that Irina Argo puts into it is superb! the different species of people and their back story was amazing and I really loved the artful way this book flowed, like species on a canvas, flowing from red to blues to blacks and back again.
there were many characters and I found it a little hard to keep track of them all but Simone and her sister I think were my favourite of the characters. Sisters are a fragile relationship to begin with and many things can rock that especially when starting out in a new sister shared bond like these two.
I thought the inner working of the court system were fascinating as well as the brotherhood Legion. The court working were very brutal and very gladiator like but at the same time they had some Compassion and you got to see the softer side of some of the creatures.
Antar and his brotherhood of Tyr Legion were amazing and incredible! warriors who would give up their lives to protect and die for others is a truly inspired thing.
Irina Argo are great authors and hope to read more of there books soon!
The Vampire Elite starts in Ancient Egypt and explores the mythos of how vampires and immortals, known as Amiti, came to be created. You can really tell that a lot of care was given to developing the background on which this story is based. Enjoying mythology like I do, I found this tale to be entrancing and a very imaginative start to the novel. The characters live in an interesting and scary world, but one cannot help but be fascinated in what will happen next. I like that the author was able to make the sisters become friends with each other despite their own differences. This was a pleasant surprise because many authors would have gone a different more contrived way.
The story is very well written and full of interesting twists. One of my favorite characters is Antar, the winged half-demon who head an alliance of protectors. He is described as being tall and handsome but he is also a very complex character. I was surprised to discover this story was written by two authors seeing how cohesive the story and characters are. I look forward to reading more in the future.
Vampire Elite got me hooked right from the first page. The story was so fascinating that it was simply impossible to put the book down. Irina Argo has created some memorable characters that linger with you even after the book is completed. The book is a good mix of vampire romance and Egyptian history. I have always felt fascinated with vampire stories and have read most of them but was unaware of the existence of the Amiti clan unless I came across the book.” Vampire Elite” is highly sexy, sensuous, bloody, violent, captivating, adventurous and totally unpredictable. It reveals the inner turmoil of immortals in a manner that readers turn to sympathize with them in spite of their bloody karmas. All the characters- Arianna, King Tor, Simone, Theores, Anock have been clearly defined and painted with different shades of grey. As the heroes take on villainy qualities and the villains take on the heroic ones it becomes difficult to hate or love anyone in particular. The book is sure to witness super success and I am eagerly looking forward for the next book in the series.
I was surprised by Vampire Elite. I don't know what I was expecting, but the epic journey I was taken on wasn't it. It was thrilling, exciting, and heartbreaking. I just finished the book, and my emotions are in turmoil. The world Irina created was so tense and fraught with danger, as well as the opinions and experiences of both groups within the story that I emotionally connected with all the characters and my heart broke along with them and their experiences.
I'm very afraid to say anything else in fear of spoiling this fantastic read for anyone else. 5 stars. Buy the book and be prepared to go on an incredible emotional journey.
Note: I was given a copy of this book for review purposes, and it did not my review. What I've posted is my honest review.
Note II: This review has been cross-posted to Amazon and Shelfari.
Vampire Elite was a vampire novel like no other. Definitely not for teens, as there are some steamy scenes, but for any adult who enjoys vampire stories, this one is a hit!
So, I may not be the norm... but I don't typically enjoy these new vampire books. Vampire Elite is a refreshing take on the whole vampire genre. No pretty boy, sparkly vampires here... but hunky and strong.
This book draws you in from the first page as the rich history of the vampire's creation, action packed and unexpected twists - you never know where the story will take you next.
Vampire Elite offers so much more than Twilight ever could, and is much less sex-filled than a Sookie Stackhouse novel. A very sophisticated story that offers intense characters, with a plot that truly keeps you guessing.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
I have just finished the book The prologue was brilliantly written by Irina i really enjoyed and lost in story while reading Its really different from other stories of vampire. Irina brought something fresh and interesting she has written it beautifully Its touches my home too. the novel about ongoing war and no love triangle like other novels .It really a page turner book i didn't wish to put it down until the book ends. it has everything romance, suspense, drama. the vampires known as Sekhmet and the Amiti, just like live and amazing characters, used excellent language and words without any mistakes and i like the end of the story too. i highly recommend this novel who loves vampire stories. I would be happy to pay 2 or 3 times more for this book.
I'm quite a big fan of vampire stories but since the release of Twilight, I have been disappointed with the barrage of books aimed at the teeny bopper market. I was expecting the same type of vampire romance theme when I bought this book and I was pleasantly surprised to find that this story, in my opinion, is more directed to an adult audience.
The story is in-depth and quite deep so I would recommend reading it when you have some peace and quiet, so you can truly take in everything that is going on.
I was captivated by the intense storyline right from the start and the romance scenes were quite steamy which I loved.
I am highly anticipating the next release in the Vampire Elite series.
