I love exotic cultures and locales, both of which Pitts-Caine captured skillfully in this story. It's difficult to put the book into a pidgeon hole, because it has plenty of romance, suspense, and adventure. If you can imagine the "The DaVinci Code" WITHOUT the nasty slander of Christ, the result would be "Cairo". As with any adventure, there are times the reader must engage in a willing suspense of disbelief, along the lines of an Indiana Jones story. I found "Cairo" hard to put down. Definitely worth reading!

It was just a simple delivery. A small envelope from the pastor at their church. But Addie and Gary Wright may have to give their lives for it. When the travel agency reports them missing, Liz McCran will venture into Egypt to rescue the missing couple.

Liz thought she knew all about Egypt and their customs, but when a handsome Egyptian steals her heart, is she willing to take a leap of faith and accept his traditional, yet hasty, proposal? With help from Addie’s cousin Donnie, Liz uses her skills in Egyptology to follow a trail of clues and a maze of deception.

Ms. Caine obviously put a lot of research into this novel, and it shows. The fast-paced adventure is laden with Egyptian mythology, traditions, customs and history. The characters follow a line of well-thought out clues and riddles, and each piece ties into the last. I especially liked the church’s role in the story and how the faith of persecuted Christians is integral to the outcome. The romance that buds between the main characters is balanced and believable, and adds depth to this plot-driven action adventure. The story flows nicely, with no sagging middle or unfinished ends. A deeper point of view would have really drawn the reader further into the story, but overall Cairo is a well-written and an exciting read.

CAIRO by Victoria Pitts Caine was a very different read for me since I have a habit of sticking to books about favorite historical times and places. However, being a lover of adventure as well, I couldn't pass this one up. The idea of a sort of female Indiana Jones was very appealing.

With a spunky heroine who is brave enough to do whatever it takes to rescue her friends (even if she had to do it alone), Liz McCran was easy to like right from the beginning. The not-so-easy-to-like (but very mysterious) Donnie, whom she was traveling with, along with a dark and handsome local as their guide, would have made this plot good reading all by itself.

But what a pleasant surprise to find it so well-researched, and peppered with many interesting stories, unusual facts, and detailed information about the Egyptian culture, itself. Riddles and clues were so well-woven into the story, I found myself wondering many times if that part was real, or imagined. Which (in my opinion) is one of the best storytelling traits an author can have.

All of which makes CAIRO a great escape. One I would recommend to anyone who would like to catch a glimpse into this ancient city, and come away feeling as if you had been there. Definitely looking forward to reading the other two books in this trilogy!

I've never been to Egypt, so this was a delightful excursion from the comfort of my couch. What an adventure! Faith and love are added in for a breath-taking mix of high-stakes international intrigue. I enjoyed the mysterious messages and Donnie's clever tricks. I wish I had a cousin like Donnie--especially in a tight spot.

Really a great plot with lots of action and just a touch of romance. Good clean fun!

Victoria Pitts-Caine’s CAIRO is the do all, be all, end all story of international intrigue, kidnapping, killers, persecution, ancient artifacts, and cultures all rolled into one exciting story with a meant-to-be love as the filling and icing on her book cake. I devoured massive amounts of Ms. Caine’s words way into the night, as the heroine, Liz McCran, plunges far beyond her ability to reason or foresee, depending on faith in God, even though at times, that faith splintered into dark chasms of fear.

The bold and handsome Rayhan (sigh), is indeed a knight in shining armor ‘til his armor tarnishes on the backside of the desert. Does their romance end in the windswept dunes of Egypt? Is love at first sight a reality or a mirage? You’ll have to read CAIRO to find out. You won’t be sorry! Five stars!

Cairo is an entertaining story filled with mystery, suspense, and international intrigue. While eluding one dangerous situation after another, solving riddles, and piecing together cryptic clues, the characters are forced to test their faith. If that wasn’t enough, love blossoms between two people from vastly different cultures. This wonderful novel keeps you turning the pages and rooting for a successful rescue and an enduring romance. This is the second book I've read from this author and I've thoroughly enjoyed both.

A trip to Cairo is in store for any reader. You can smell the dusty streets, envision the dunes and pyramids, the sunsets ... and the characters. Absolutely loved this book. I learned so much about a culture I hadn't more than a cursory knowledge of. A fascinating and wonderful read!
