What a hoot, a short but perfectly formed story about Cara's growing career as an enquiry agent in victorian London. It continues to amaze her that the same "proper" ladies who gossip about her life are also getting a little somethin'-somethin' on the side.....always in secret and often with regret. She's contacted by such a young woman who has one request regarding her ex-fiance. She wants her mouse back. Oooo-kay. So off she goes with a reluctant Jackson in tow to face down the evil rodent thief at his mens club. Cara's disregard for public opinion ensures the men will be talking about the encounter for a long time. This is a quick, funny little update featuring the characters from the previous book & something to satisfy fans as we await the next instalment in the series. And like Cara, I found it educational. Hmmm....always thought most of them resembled rabbits.
I really do enjoy reading Cara, throw Nate in and I'm utterly happy! So, it’s sort of redundant to say that I wholly enjoyed this novella! My only complaint would be that it was a little short, it only served to make me that much more impatient for the next book.
Nice little short, bit too short. I was expecting 30 pages but apparently that includes a chapter from book 2. I found my self smiling when Cara was informed what the missing mechanical mouse was used for.
Cute. I'm glad to see Cara staying involved in helping the ladies of society with their problems. Loved her interpretation of the rules of 'Reds' and her resolve to not follow them. A very cute short story and I had to laugh at the mechanical mouse.
Great short story that follows the first book in The Artifact Hunter series. I'm glad to see Cara staying involved in helping the ladies of society with their problems. I loved it.
This was a funny little tid bit of a story. Not exactly what I expected which was nice and a bit naughty. This story was at the end of the first book. Definitely an interesting little read.
