THE BEST GUIDE FOR LEARNING MATHEMATICS!
I studied mathematics and physics in high school. And this is pretty much 80% of all the things we learned. If you think you're not good in math is because your teacher is not good. And this book can take care of that!
Loved reading and reviewing all these things again. Recommend it 100%. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

I actually forgot almost a great deal of what I have studied in school in basic algebra. But this book helped me so much in understanding and remembering them. It is great to read this book even if you are good at math, or at least put it in a home library so that you can use it as a resource.

Great review of basic Math and Pre-Algebra. Just one note of critique: I found a few minor and one or two major typos.

At first, I find this book to be a joke, since it featured a whole chapter about multiplication tables, but it soon turned out to be a handy read.

Great resource for review and study. I've also found that it's pretty well-indexed, so it's not hard to go back if you've forgotten a basic operation like I tend to. Whoever said that this book is "too easy" apparently needs to first study "Basic Reading Comprehension & Common-Sense" because the book literally says "basic math" on it. I don't know what else you'd be expecting. I definitely recommend this. If you're looking for practice problems you can usually find the particular topic you're working on on Khan Academy.

The book has few minor grammatical errors and a few errors in the images. But overall the book is really good. The author explains to you all the basic concepts in a very simple language and a very intuitive way, and also recommends a few other books at some points. The modular layout of the book will be pretty helpful if you're only looking for specific topics. Absolutely recommended for young students and even adults trying to give Mathematics a second chance. Combine this book with Khan Academy and you're gonna have no trouble understanding, and even appreciating, all the basic aspects of Math!

Although I did not read it front to back, it was nevertheless extremely helpful in reigniting long-lost equations, many of them languishing in the dark, cobwebbed recesses of my mind. Math was a source of anxiety during my school years and thanks to this book I've been able to tackle my Elements of Algebra class I'm currently enrolled in for community college.

If you're like me and dread any kind of mathematics, I implore you to pick this one up!

the book is great and everything, actually one of the best math books for beginners, but tbh after finishing half of it i discovered Khan Academy and I found out that it's much better and goes much more deeper than this book, so I decided to stop reading and just go with Khan Academy courses for mathematics, sorry, Mark Zegarelli, gotta leave you on that one.

Math: That mythical monster which feeds on intrigue and confusion, stimulates the minds of many, and infuriates the minds of many more.

There is nothing especially amazing about this book which would draw someone into an enjoyment of math. It is very procedural and filled with jargon - perhaps the only way it can be.

Excellent review of the basics! I don’t know if it’s just being 30 years older or if it’s the way this author explains it, but the pre-algebra section was so much more coherent than I remember previously being taught.

Great refresher on basic math. I imagine it would be hard to keep up with for someone using this as a first time book and not a review though since it doesn't spend much time on problems and examples.

This book covers the Canadian curriculum's elementary school math (from junior kindergarten to grade eight). It also covers some basic high school math. I will introduce this book to my kids.

Skip the unnecessary commentaries and "jokes," and it is a good introduction.
Cringe "jokes."
Half the book is blabber.

This comprehensive and user-friendly guide simplifies the often intimidating world of mathematics. It's aimed at students and adults who need a refresher or a solid foundation in basic math and pre-algebra concepts.
Visual aids in the form of diagrams, charts, and examples make the subject significantly easier to understand. In addition, the book has real-world examples and applications, demonstrating how mathematical concepts are relevant beyond the classroom. This aspect can benefit individuals who need help seeing the practical value of math or who need a concrete understanding of how these concepts are used in everyday life.
While the book is generally comprehensive, some readers may find that specific topics are covered in more detail than others. In addition, the level of depth may not satisfy those seeking an in-depth exploration of pre-algebra. However, for its intended purpose as a beginner's guide or refresher, it strikes a good balance between breadth and depth.
Additionally, although the book provides ample practice problems, more detailed solutions or step-by-step explanations would be beneficial. This would assist readers in better understanding the problem-solving process and facilitate self-assessment. While it may not delve deeply into advanced pre-algebra concepts, it makes math less daunting.

I wrote the GMAT this year and this book was a life-saver: it helped me get the Quantitative score I needed to get into my dream school!

After an entire Economics degree, I’d somehow forgotten all basic math. This book offered such a dumbed down explanation of everything, and I would definitely re-read it every few years for a refresher.

Cover-to-cover, it definitely is not a dry read, and everything included is important.

Only loses a star because I found many errors (primarily in spelling, which isn’t pertinent to the material). Not sure if this book gets updated in terms of versions, so these errors may have since been corrected

I was homeschooled, so my mom taught me math from the Saxon Math series. She did a decent job, but I was never a math whiz and generally hated it. I studied political science in college. I've been staying up late worrying if I will be able to help my kid with her math homework once she gets into middle school and also fantasizing about how great it would be to have an engineer's paycheck instead of a call center rep"s paycheck. So I picked up this book and now I'm actually excited about reading the books in this series about algebra.

I had to get extra tutoring with a tutor and in math lab at school to pass math. I need more help than a book can give. I need one on one teaching.
