Wanton Witches #1

When the Starrs Align

Rate this book
Regan wants vengeance on the Starr brothers. They want her. But when dealing with warlocks under a blood moon, love trumps revenge…every time.

Regan Riley has come to town for a little revenge. Before the Starr brothers become too powerful to take down, she’s going to bully the bullies. But when the tables are turned, she finds it hard to deny the sexy warlocks who need her more than they know.

Ten years ago Regan Riley left town to save herself from the scourge of the Starrs. Twin brothers Chance and Warrick tormented her one too many times, so her father ships her away to safety. But when he asks her to return to celebrate a once in a lifetime event, she’s all for it. Before the twins ascend and grow more powerful than she can handle, she’s going to show them what it’s like to be bullied.

Chance and Warrick have been looking for the shapeshifting beauty for years. Some out of control magic in their youth made her miserable, and they want her back. But when the tricky cat tries pranking them, they decide on another way of apologizing. In bed. Sure, they need a familiar or a bonded lover to help them survive their Becoming during the blood moon. But no way in hell they’ll ask Regan for help and risk hurting her. They lost her once before. They can’t do it again. They’d rather die knowing she’s safe than lose her to vampires when the blood moon takes hold. But when Regan wrestles the decision from their hands, it’s do or die. Because this time, losing her isn’t an option.

Take two gorgeous male twins, destined to be some of the more powerful wizards the world has seen. Have them realize that they need a 3rd in their circle to complete their potential, and make that 3rd a young woman that they had bullied and tortured as a child who alternates between despising them and being intrigued although not wholly trusting them. Regan is a mixed –blood, with a mother a cat shifter and her father a wizard, she has realized her differences and been belittled for her ‘mutt’ status since childhood.

Chance and Warrick know that Regan is their destined third, but how to convince her to interact, let alone work with them is the issue. With a series of explanations from the twins eyes, their focused and determined mother, and Regan’s underlying interest and attraction to the twins despite all that has passed between them: this story is full of revelations, clever visualizations and some laugh out loud moments. Thoroughly mischievous, the twins seek to convince Regan to play along: even if that play includes some steamy ménage play and lots of physical satisfaction.

The triumvirate is steamy and cleverly portrayed with dialogue that is clever and snarky in turns, with some real emotion displayed by all, especially as they explain the pranks they meant (mostly) in good fun, but Regan was too young, too bullied and too sensitive to see them that way. All of those memories fade away in several cleverly written and super steamy scenes, the twins remove Regan’s inhibitions and reservations nearly as easily as they remove her clothing. A unique twist on a paranormal / fantasy story, with some super steamy ménage scenes, laughs and pointedly poignant moments.

I received an eBook from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Regan Riley, a powerful shape shifter, returns to town after 10 years to witness the bane of her younger life-the Starr twin’s ascension. The powerful twin warlock’s, Warrick and Chance Starr have been waiting and hoping to make it right with Regan after all these years. They know all their wooing went wrong in their teens when Regan abruptly left town and never returned or communicated with them. Knowing she’s coming back they can’t wait to try to make amends, if she’ll let them.
This was a short read but well worth it. I really enjoy this authors voice-she weaves a tale of love and scorching steamy romance usually with a twist of some kind. In this case-it was off the charts. I love how she can establish a believable story in such a short time. These characters are vibrant and real. Regan comes across as snarky, funny and heartwarming while still maintaining her tough outer shell- you can easily relate to her. The Starr twins, Chance and Warrick, one light with his devil may care attitude and one dark but grounded and responsible….choices…choices. Or not maybe Regan can have her cake and eat it too. If you want to know you have to buy the book, I guarantee you will not regret it. But beware the love scenes are beyond spicy!

This was enjoyable and quite entertaining but it just didn’t gel with me. Too short I think.
Not 100% sure that I found the characters likeable. I didn’t hate them but don’t feel like I got to know them enough to end up liking them.
Regan seemed a bit immature for a supposedly mature grown woman, happy in her own skin.
Wanting revenge ten years later for childhood pranks and then hiding herself as her aunt, rather than standing her ground. Immature.
The twins were dumbasses and should have apologised but really never had the chance. But then they didn’t behave too well once again, when they knew it was Regan.

When Regan comes back to town after ten years and tries to disguise herself from Warrick and Chance. Warrick and Chance are twins that used to be in Regan's business and Regan would get mad cause she couldn't do anything without one of them around her. The twins find out about her disguise and get her to switch back to herself. Regan doesn't want to compete with the women in town for the twin's attention. Fast moving book. Loved how Regan came into herself at the end!

A full story in a small package...

Even in this short action filled tale we get a true feel for Regan, Chance, and Warrick. Their second chance at love will come at a price. Are they all ready to pay it? Great short read.

Nice wee paranormal romance

Like this author and it’s a very good short read. Past history between the three leads and there’s humour and sass. Enjoyed it.

Short and quirky

I loved this short quirky book that involves a menage between one woman and two brothers.
Two twin warlocks, Chase and Warrick, fell for Reagan when they were children. She is a cat shifter/witch. She thought that they were picking on her and making her life miserable but they thought that they were helping. She moved away for ten years.
Now she is back for a Blood Moon ceremony that features the twins in two weeks time. They need a third to center and focus their power.
Can she forgive them enough to help them or will another woman step into her place?

The Romance Review

Sandwiched between handsome powerful twin males, how is this not a fantasy come true? When the two men are the bullies of your childhood. Regan is a late blooming feline shifter. Her father is a warlock with powerful magic. Her mother was a shifter which dilutes Regan's blood and turns her into a low rung mongrel in the eyes of the powerful warlocks and witches.

The Starr brothers, Chance and Warrick, are the two most powerful warlocks on the cusp of their "Becoming". They need a third to help them channel their magic and that person is Regan. Unfortunately for them, Regan wants to have nothing to do with them due to their unfortunate series of childhood mishaps.

Ms Harte is an awesome writer. Her stories are always enjoyable because her comedic timing is perfect. She creates endearing characters. Even her "evil" mother-in-law character isn't really evil. Chance and Warrick's mother is focused and determined. She's also intimidating. What is amusing about this story is the reveal of the pranks from two sets of eyes. When Regan exposes her hurt over each painful act, the Starr brothers cringe and explain their intent. It's hilarious when the truths are revealed. At least the reader will find humour even if Regan does not.

The world building in this story is a bit weaker than the others written by Ms Harte. It could be that she's withholding information so she can provide more in future installments of this series. If this is a standalone, then the world will crumble under the lightest scrutiny. Still, the sex is hot. Who wouldn't want to be the filling between two charming twins with kinky leanings? To enjoy orgasm after orgasm at the hands of talented men is a hardship, but someone's gotta do it. Regan suffers through the exquisite torture all in the name of helping to save the town. Somehow the other women competing for Chance and Warrick's attention don't see it the same way. Ms. Harte is always a good read when it comes to naughty misbehaviours.

This paranormal romance is recommended for kinky ménage lovers.

Fun read

Those boys are good at apologizing. And it seems like they are going to need to keep practicing.
There were a couple of things I didn’t like about the ending, I thought they needed more time to meld together.

Paranormal menage stories are my candy. Menage is my favorite fantasy and paranormal stories stretch my imagination and surprise me when I read them. So I was delighted to dig into this story. It didn't disappoint.

The Starr twins are special because they are twin warlocks and were born during a special time of the year. The town and their parents know their becoming, coming into their full power under the blood moon, will be powerful. In order to gain control and ground their magic they need a familiar or third, a mate to stabilize them during the ceremony. They've waited for Regan Riley to come back into town because both Warrick and Chance have known since youth she was the one. Regan is a shifter, a lesser being in this story that is looked down on. She left town to live with her aunt in her teens because she felt bullied and picked on, especially by the twins. In their defence they were young and stupid and didn't know how to show her that they cared. Now they know better and are determined to win Regan over. What a fun story of forgiveness and finding out you are so much more as a team than separately.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
