Teen Wolf AU Stiles finds himself on the doorstep to his home in Beacon Hills, not remembering how he got here or why he’s barefoot. As it turns out, he was abducted a couple of weeks earlier from a college party and bears the same marks on his body as victims of a serial killer his dad just can’t seem to get a hold of. So there he is, with no memories of what happened, the last couple of weeks like a blank line in his mind and knowing all too well that he’s the best shot they have at catching this guy. As a key witness and in acute, assumed danger, he finds himself under surveillance 24/7 and more often than not, his dad’s best Deputy: Derek Hale, is sitting at his kitchen table. Vendelin is officially one of the best sterek writers out there. And I love her, I love her, I love her.
This was just fantastic. Gorgeous. As far as the plot is concerned, it's interesting and evenly paced, but that's not what makes this story so good. That's the writing. And the details. This author has a simply incredible ability to: a. get all the Teen Wolf characters and their voices (thought and speech) right, especially Stiles and Derek, and b. find the perfect stupid details to steal your heart and make you giggle and swoon. Like lemon tea and lace panties. (Don't ask.)
This story has a mystery/suspense plot, but that's solved fairly quickly and is not the main focus. What this story concentrates on (and nails) is Stiles and his way of dealing with what happened to him and the way that influenced his day-to-day life, his relationship with his friends and his dad and his blooming romance with our favourite cop. (Cop, guys! Isn't that cool? I need more cop!Derek.) That doesn't happen until the end, but when it does happen, it's amusing and adorable and sexy and totally worth the wait. (And the wait isn't even all that long, actually, because the story is a measly 23000 words. *sigh*)
The ending is open-but-not-too-open in that way that makes me crave a sequel, but at the same time leaves me ecstatic and satisfied and sure there's love in the world. Picture me with my hands on my cheeks and my eyes upwards gazing at the sky. And a silly grin on my face, of course.

Further proof that this story was literally made for me: it was published on my birthday. If that's not fate, I don't know what it is. Oh, and it's so awesome that someone even made a cover for it.
I don't think I'll change anything about my original review. I even feel exactly the same way about the spoiler! Ha! ------- Scary, scary, scary! I do not like my Stiles being hurt, like ever.
No, no, no! You are not fine! I can't imagine losing my memory and really, I can't imagine having to get back what I lost when it is that horrible.
Oh, and that 84% mark everyone is talking about? Gah! It was kinda hot though so whatever.
Not bad.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I'm having a bit of trouble treating this book on its own terms due to its similarities to another story, Desolate: in both the story opens when Stiles is discovered after having been kidnapped, suffering amnesia, and must recover from highly traumatic events. (I am not arguing any kind of copying, just that I can't help comparing them.) Also, some of my reaction may be simply because I read Desolate first, but this story was not nearly as compelling reading. The "recovery" part of the plot felt really slow-moving, to the point of dragging, despite the fact that this story was only 1/5 as long. I enjoyed the sections with Erica--as always--but I found those with Derek to be on the extreme end of "emotional constipation" to the point of feeling stagnant (does that raise gross associations?--if so, sorry).
Really the main reason to read it is the ending section (keyword: manties), which was hot and kinky and really fun. This isn't to say the rest is a bad read at all, just that I wasn't that invested, especially compared to Desolate.
Bottom Line: Manties--I'm sold. Never thought I'd say that, but between this, Mark Cooper versus America and the "Mantie" stories on "Love's Landscapes" this year, they've won me over. In the hands of the right author, they can be erotic and adventurous and, most unexpectedly, sweet.
Over protective and stoic Deputy Derek. (Yes the uniform is wrong but I could not find a deputy Derek pic anywhere)
This was really very good and at times very creepy. The parts where Stiles was held captive were well scary. An episode of Criminal Minds was part inspiration and I remember that episode. It freaked the bejesus out of me. At times this also freaked the bejesus out of me.
This had the potential to be awesome but for some reason it missed the mark for me. I can't put my finger on what it was.
I think it was the relationship development. I felt something was missing between them.
Stiles isn't really his usual funny self--he was kidnapped and tortured so I guess that's understandable.
Derek is emotionally constipated.
Stiles has nightmares. Derek makes him tea. Aww
I didn't really see them falling in love but they do I guess and the end with the bad guy was kind of anticlimactic.
But Derek and Stiles have sex while Stiles keeps his manties on. That made it all worth it. NSFW pic ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Re-read - pretty much what I said before, with a little more to it it could have been good but as it stands it's an ok read. Derek is too standoffish to show any bond forming, some paragraphs felt like summaries. And further to the below spoiler -- --
Poor Stiles tortured and not his usual ebullient self. Derek was hard to get a sense of he didn't talk much at all and except for his making tea I didn't see any bond forming, even up to where they start having sex (late in the story) there attraction wasn't on the page.
It's a good story, the serial killer plot made me think of 'Criminal Minds' while what Stiles experienced was horrid somehow there wasn't the lever of fear or chills I'd expect. It was a bit anti-climax really with the police gathered around and dealing with everything. No real confrontations. Stiles seemed more bored by house arrest than traumatised over lack of memory/nightmares. While the ingredients are all here I didn't think the story reached it's potential - it was good but could have been great.
So this fic is all kinds of awesome. But it's not just really awesome, the characters voices are spot on and the writing is very nice. It makes me want to read more fics from this Sterek writer and I wish she would write some Gallavich ones too, because that would be awesome.
Anyway, this isn't really a full blown romance, because that doesn't happen until the end, but there is a nice connection between Stiles and Derek which makes the story really nice and it makes you want some Sterek action. The main plot, which isn't really the mystery, is Stiles trying to get past what happened to him. He has to sort through a lot of stuff, which is what I imagine happening in season 4, and just him trying to remember what happened to him. The emotion in this is very believable and I really like the way Derek was always there to support Stiles when needed. It just made me really happy to read this because I was able to get wrapped up in the story and I was really enjoying it.
I like the ending a lot, but I do wish there had been a little more. But I'm greedy, so don't mind me. It's definitely something that makes me hope for a sequel, but I also know I won't be overly upset if it doesn't have one because this is just that good.
OKay, I was sold on this story when I found out about a certain development.......................................................................................................................huh?, sorry I was lost there for a moment thinking about ........................................................................................................................................................................................................ahhh...sorry, I got lost again.
So...anyhow. Story wasn't bad, not fantastic, but totally worth it for the above spoiler item........okay, ya, so I can't think with that on my brain, so read it yourself.
God, this story! What a mess! Clumsy writing, the least convincing romance plot ever (maybe it wasn't meant to be one? I'm actually not sure) and I don't know. It just wasn't much fun.
Protective Derek is protective because that's his job. He goes above and beyond though when it's Stiles - even if Stiles doesn't realise it. Plus Sheriff John <3
This was... actually pretty good. No werewolves.. that would be like cheating!
So, human all the way with cop Derek. THIS Derek, not a typical one, is remote(ish) and commanding. Get bare hints that he feels more for Stiles than he lets on. Plus a Stiles noticeable self commentary (more or less) is that when he's with the sheriff its kind of like, kid saying yes sir and nodding head following Sheriff's lead. When the sheriff is NOT there, HE is the one taking charge. I am finding that a good look for him. He still has some awkwardness, mostly after the case is settled.
Basically he comes across to me as a badass human. Thumbs up for you, dude!
Also, this has meat to it. Serial killer on the loose, protection around the clock, trauma feels.. not fluff. Good Deal!
This was a pretty good story. This is a Sterek fanfiction story. For those of you that don't know...Sterek fanfic is based off 2 male characters, Stiles and Derek, from the TV show Teen Wolf. In the show they're both heterosexual but some viewers have fantasized about them together in a m/m relationship and thus Sterek was born. This story doesn't take place in the TV show world. It's a human world with no resemblance to the TV show except for the characters.
The story begins with Stiles showing up at his house, half out of it after being missing for 2 weeks. He passes out and comes to in the hospital being guarded for his own safety. He can't remember what happened during the 2 weeks but it appears he was kidnapped from college and kept prisoner somewhere for the 2 weeks. Stiles has marks on his body that make them think he was kidnapped by a serial killer they've been looking for. Stiles is the only person known to have survived this killer so he's under 24 hour protection by 3 of his dad's best deputies, Derek, Erica and Boyd.
Stiles is stuck under protective custody for a while. He's feeling unsafe after what he went through but it does help having the protection although that doesn't keep him from going stir crazy after being locked inside for so long. There's some stress and some nightmares and during this time, Stiles and Derek start to become friends. Stiles finds Derek to be a soothing presence and realizes that he kinda likes him. It take some time and effort but the catching of the bad guys is dealt with. Things between Derek and Stiles takes a bit longer to figure out but they end the story starting a relationship together.
This was a rather enjoyable story. It was an interesting story that (because of the subject matter) wasn't always easy but was still written in a way that I liked reading about it. I have to say that I liked the way the author made things play out...the timing of when Derek and Stiles finally get together worked much better for me than if it had happened sooner. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good story. :)
All-human AU in which Derek's a deputy who works for Sheriff Stilinski and ends up on a protection detail for Stiles after he's kidnapped by a serial killer. Stiles's distress is heartbreaking, but Derek's wonderful. And the Sheriff is perfect.
Some Favorite Quotes: "He's here to protect you." Protection. Stiles doesn't need protection. He survived high school.
"Your dad tells me you're in therapy." "Yeah. Jealous?" "No, I was about to say that I don't think it's working. You're still insane."
