I wasn’t too sure I wanted to continue with this series after the last book, since I really hated that one. But I wanted to read about Simon so bad that I decided to just go for it.

Even though Ares acted like a total ass in the previous book, he did a 180 in this one and I ended up loving him.

Simon has been told his entire life that he is simple, dumb, slow. But even though it does take him a bit longer to get things, he is also a very happy and upbeat person. From the moment Simon sees Ares, he wants him. But when Simon’s brother tells Simon to stop bothering Ares, Simon tries to avoid him.

Ares doesn’t know why the gorgeous young shifter who just arrived at their pack is suddenly avoiding him, but he does know he wants Simon as his mate. There is no doubt in Ares’ mind that he wants Simon. But when he asks alpha Iben for help, Iben warns him away from Simon.

It looks like everyone thinks Simon is too simple for a relationship, but that was not the impression Ares has of the young man at all.

When Simon is mortally injured Ares sees no other way but to claim him so he might save his life…

I loved Simon. I never thought he was simple or dumb at all. I loved how Ares treated him as an equal. It did kind of bug me that even our heroes from the previous books believed Simon to be too simple to be able to mate with someone. But Simon did all show them at the end, so that was very satisfying.

I’m not sure the next book appeals to me, so I think I’m going to end this series with this one. 3 great books out of the 4 I’ve read in this series is not bad.

In the previous book, Ares was one of the characters who intrigued me a lot. As the eldest brother of the three elite enforcers, and one of the men most against Hercules mating because having a mate is a distraction from doing their duty, I couldn’t wait to see how he was going to deal with the same situation when it happened to him! His mate is a really special man, and I doubt anyone else would have been able and/or willing to deal with Ares. Simon has been told he is "simple" – but nothing could be further from the truth. And I just loved that it turns out Simon is the one with the special powers in this couple. With Alpha Iben's amazing secret powers, Beta Djal's supernatural strength, and Rory's visions, now adding Simon's talent, is beginning to turn this pack into a special forces team among werewolves!

Simon is a wonderful man: always helpful and supportive, great with the pack's children, and he loves to cook. His world view is unique, and I suspect it is linked to his special power, which doesn’t emerge until fairly late in the book, so I'm not going to "spoiler" it here. Suffice it to say, if more people were like him, world peace would be a definite possibility! He takes a little longer to work things out sometimes because he cannot understand much of what other people say or do. It is too far removed form what he sees as the truth for him to have an easy time of it. His love for Ares is immediate, strong, and honest, and yet all Simon wants is for Ares to be happy and safe. He'll do anything to keep it that way, even stay away from him so he doesn't interfere in his life, just like his brother Adam, who has always protected him, has told him.

Ares may be a strong enforcer, and his loyalty to his alpha and pack are commendable, but when it comes to matters of the heart he is just as weak as anyone else. He wanted Simon from the moment they first met, and he doesn’t care if the man is slow. Except Ares is one of the few people who figures out quite quickly that it isn’t Simon's mental capabilities that are the problem, it is his difference in world view that doesn't fit. When Ares is told to stay away from Simon, who would be happy to just spend time with him, his and Simon's suffering almost broke my heart. It takes Simon's life being in danger for Ares to get a clue. I couldn't believe everyone was just going to stand back and let Simon die, even thought Ares mating with him would have saved his life. Just because Adam said Simon cannot mate. But Ares is more than ready to mate with him, and thank the gods he turns out to have a will of his own!

Not that the danger is over when they finally do get together, in fact, it has only just begun. Adam stops talking to Simon, then vanishes, Simon's ex-lover and son of an enemy alpha's pack turns up and wants him as a "pet", another rival pack seems to be after their territory, and someone on the Council of Elders is after them as well. What a mess!

If you have enjoyed the first three books in this series (best read in order) and are a fan of the Aberdeen Wolves struggling for their right to live, if you like reading about men with unique talents who are ridiculed because it is easier than listening to what they have to say, and if you're looking for a read with action, tension, passionate lovers who almost don't become a couple, then are constantly under threat of death, then you will probably like this novella.

This was my favorite book from the series. I loved Simon and would have loved the book to be longer. I enjoyed Ares much more in this book.

Definitely one of the best in the series. I really enjoy and respect that the author took on a big challenge such as a character that is perceived to be slightly mentally delayed. The author did not take the easy way out which would have been making the character not delayed and simply acting for whatever reason. Instead, Stormy explains the character so well that you understand he is different. He processes things differently than the average person but no better no worse.
I was also happy that Ares was his match since he was so against Hercules' mating in the previous book. He fell hard and fast for Simon and that was beautiful to read. I loved the relationship between these two.!
One negative: Simon discovers a unique talent at the end if the book that I didn't feel was really explained or explored which I found disappointing. Nor was his lack of shifting ability explained and I'm sure these two things would be related.
This book also introduCed a new character, an elder from the council. I would LOVE to read his story. He is an older man and he has regrets about a list love. I think this author could totally pull off the older character and fit it into this series seamlessly.

this is the fourth book in the Aberdeen Pack series, and I have to say I am disappointed. I loved the first book, I don't remember disliking the second, but the third and fourth I'm really not liking much. What really strikes me is you have the strongest alpha ever, plus this "elite" enforcer team, but they really, really suck at keeping themselves and their pack safe. I mean, Really suck. And when the hell did Sissy get relegated to the kitchen?

Better than the last one, but still not a great series. There are just too many inconsistencies. In the previous book Ares went ape shit that Hercules claimed a mate. But in this book he has no trouble claiming Simon. Everybody warns him not to do it, because Simon is simple and can't give consent. Which is ridiculous. Simon is perfectly capable of making decisions on his own. Reading about him, you never get the feeling he is that slow. Hercules seemed more slower than Simon. However, Ares does claim Simon while he is unconscious. Now that is what I would call without consent. But nobody gives Ares grief about that! Excuse me!?!?!?! Rory's visions are again absent. And defending the pack is apparently very hard to do, because every villain gets inside the alpha home. Although I liked the connection between Simon and Ares, this series is just not worth more than 3 stars. It is just lacking.

Second read: I still loved Simon just as much, or even more, than I did the first time I read this story. Pretty much everything works for me in this installment of the series *grins*

What a great addition to this series. I adored Simon and he's definitely my favorite in this story. I liked the plot, the sex was hawt, and Ares was perfect for Simon and vice versa.

So this book has to be my favorite book of the series. I absolutely loved Simon. He made me laugh and he was just a good wholesome character. Ares loves Simon for who he was and he didn't treat him like others did. Loved this book.

I know that Simon is very, um.. special.. But I found him fucking annoying at times lol. I also thought the issue with Chad was really contrived. He just kind of popped up out of nowhere near then end, and I'm like.. huh? And then it just ends. Not a huge fan.

One of my favorites in the series. I'm not really sure I bought into Simon's brother's behavior but I really enjoyed the book.

Aberdeen Pack 4

Ares knows he has met the man he wants to spend the rest of his life with when Simon Fiske joins the Aberdeen Pack. There’s just one problem. Everyone believes that Simon is simple and slow, not able to make decisions on his own.
When Simon and his brother Adam are banished from their pack, he has no idea that it will lead to him meeting the most beautiful man he has ever seen. After Ares claims him, life for Simon just gets more complicated. Adam refuses to talk to him, his ex-lover is back demanding that he return to his former pack, and Simon has his hands full keeping other pack members safe when they are attacked.
Being mated should have been the most wonderful thing that ever happened to Simon and Ares, but it seems to just bring on more battles than they can fight.

Summary:
It never ceases to amaze me how people react differently to anyone who is considered disabled even if it is very minor like Simon's was. Just because he was a little bit slow most individuals assumed that he couldn't take care of himself or understand anything. It was interesting how Simon accepted their attitudes and even went along with it to make things easier. Ares knew immediately that there was more to Simon and his acceptance must have meant more to Simon than even Ares understood. The budding feelings between Ares and Simon was put to the test as others didn't understand that Simon was more than capable of making up his own mind. Simon might be a little slow, but he was more than capable of proving to one and all what he wanted! Experiencing the world through Simon's eyes brought the wonder of being young back, but also the wisdom that adults seem to loose as they grow up. Simon's vision of the world brought things into perspective as difficulties between the neighboring pack heated up.

Wow. What a nice surprise. Simon is predictably sweet but what really won me over right away is that Ares actually appreciates him.
Sweet emotion in this one. Sure, everyone else needs to be judgmental and annoying to make the plot work, but the protagonists suffer in a very sweet way.

It’s also kind of funny that in this book Ares is the one being kept from pursuing the person he loves by that person’s brother. Payback’s a… wolf.

“Unlike in the animal world, mates were not given to them by fate.” Again with that. It made me laugh this time. I hope by the next volume someone has pointed out to the author how silly that statement is.

This volume actually made me squee and laugh at the same time at roughly midpoint.
And lo and behold, this is an interesting story. Sure, a lot of it is predictable, but who cares. I can buy that the characters can’t figure it out, so it works. And, oh my god, it’s funny even when matters are tense for our guys. Simon’s wonderful.

A lot of the developments are coming out of nowhere. At least they don’t contradict anything. Or if they did I failed to notice which is just as well.

So yeah, this was actually really great. Lucky!
That’s the thing with this author. On the occasion that it works… it really works. For me, anyway.

Reminiscent of The Vampire's Special Lover by Charlie Richards.

Ares' turnaround concerning duty and love.. I thought the choice of his affection, while seeming odd at the beginning, blossomed nicely. First it seems like he's placating Simon, then trying to be friendly without pushing too fast.

The idealistic Simon was a joy to get to know for the most part. I would say possibly in the autistic range vs being slow and stupid. It seemed like he processes things differently.

Adam on the other hand was very frustrating. His reasoning and not being able to ask for help just made me want to hit him. Bad brother!

Simon's surprise ability and the in charge attitude of the 'meeting' at the end broadened his character for me as well. But as far as not being able to shift, this wasn't explored for Simon. Bummer. I did find the elder turn about to be off, seeing as he's just looking down his nose at Simon at the start.

I really loved Ares' and Simon's story. I liked Simon from the moment he was introduced in the previous book and even though I really disliked Ares at points in Herc's and Rory's story I ended up really liking him once he realized that he was in the wrong.

I love how Simon looks at the world. He's not slow or simple at all, he's extremely smart, he just takes a bit to understand some things. People don't realize how many other meanings we put into everything we say and I could completely understand how that could confuse Simon when he says what he means and only what he means.

I loved that Ares loved Simon for exactly who he is. He never had an issue with how Simon processes things and he never saw Simon as simple or slow.

No tears in this one but still a really great read.

In this the fourth installment of Stormy Glenn's Aberdeen Pack series entitled No so simple Simon we meet our characters the tough elite enforcer Ares and his mate Simon whom is regarded by most as being simple. Through all the obstacles, near death experiences and machinations of a spoiled brat can they find their way to love and their happily ever after.

Another exciting story from Ms Glenn that is action packed yet at the same time tugs at the heartstrings with the depth of emotion that runs through it. It shows that just because you see the world differently from those around you that you are anything but simple and that sometimes the simple answer is best.

Okay, it's a toss up whether I like Julian (Julian's Happy Place) or Simon more. They are both such sweet characters, you can only hope for the best for them.

Simon catches the eye of Ares, the eldest brother of the Elite Enforcers, and I was happy for him to find his mate even though he gave Hercules SUCH a hard time over mating Rory.

This time the trouble is because Simon has a stalker who is determined to get him back, no matter what it takes. Ares is injured and Simon reveals a secret.

Each story builds on the next, but I don't think we've heard the end since we haven't found out who the ultimate baddies are yet.

8-12-16 Update:
I just reread this and I liked it better. Perhaps at the time I read it originally I was looking for something deeper and meaningful. Today I wanted something light and this fit the bill. I'm upgrading this from two stars to three.

Original review:
I want those two hours of my life back. But I do have to admit that I really like Simon. I would love to transplant him into a better story. Two stars.

I really liked the way this character was handled and how by the end he was by far the best character of the series. The main pairings from the first two books in the series also make an appearance and the author handles it well as we still see the elements that makes us like them in their books without overshadowing this pairing. I look forward to seeing how this series evolves.

OMG! I am loving this series the more I read it. Ares story I have to stay is really touching. To love someone & be told you can't be with them and to be forced to watch them from afar only... suddenly he's face with the to be possibility of losing them & still being kept away from them. You heart kind of ached for what Ares is going through in order to be with His mate. A definite must read.

Kind of weird, I thought Ares was an ass in Herc's book, but I liked him here.

Overall, I liked it.

3.55 stars. It was okay. I enjoyed it up to a point. Even though I wish that both characters were written with more depth and more of a connection, it would of added more appeal to the story and characters. I felt like there could have been more. It was a light "simple" read.

A cute story. I really wish that it had a little more character depth. It was a nice story but there really wasn't that something that would have made the story stick out. I wanted something more. I still enjoyed the story but was hopeful for a little more.

I love Stormy Glenn and I love this series. However, spelling errors, factual errors and an overly simplistic (no pun intended) plot made reading this book a torturous experience. I never write reviews on Goodreads (just ratings) but I wanted others to know what a true fan thought of this book.

I really liked the Simon character and the fact that Ares didn't run from his feelings. Simon pulled at my heart stings and the way Ares saw the real him was great.

I'm getting tired of ppl getting kidnapped every single book though. multiple times.

Simple Simon

It was a great book with the lesson don't judge a book by the cover and it was well write and worth the time and money but it was also a little dorky. That is the best I could describe it buy it you won't be let down.
