Nice book, but it contains more ideas for e4 players and only a few for d4, c4 or Nf3 :/.

Just pick up this book and read Reti's profile of Carl Schlechter. If you don't understand why people love chess, that will explain it.

Quite a good book. Most of the 'modern' ideas are now commonplace, so the title is no longer fitting. I enjoyed playing through some of the interesting French Defence games included and chuckled every time Réti spelt 'manœver'.

Have an old Dover edition that I first read and marked up back in the 80s. Not algebraic, but the marked passages are all useful reminders. I suppose it's dated now, but is still a great overview of positional chess and an introduction of the hypermodern ideas from one of the originators.
