Captain Thane Austen and Kayla Banks. The Ghost and Snow White… The Ghost had lost his soul long ago. Too many years of seeing the worst that humanity had to offer had encased his heart in ice. Until he met a beautiful brunette with fire in her eyes.
The fire in Kayla’s eyes came from Hell. She brought it back with her when she left. Kayla had lived through hell and survived, but that was all she did. Survive…

“Life broke us both in half, but together we’re whole. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you with my actions. You’re my forever, Kayla.”
In Code Name Ghost, Thane and Kayla’s love began to bloom, but will the bud survive the bitter storm that is their past?
The Shark wants Kayla’s blood, PTSD wants her mind, and two men vie for her heart. Through danger and passion, mystery and evil, watch the lives of these two warriors as they search for love and peace.

Kayla’s Fire is laced with action and adventure, but the real story lies in the hearts and minds of its heroes. A gut-wrenching, emotional journey, that can’t be missed.

Natasza Waters runs your emotions through the wringer in Kayla’s Fire. Every time you think the ship of Thane and Kayla’s love is finally on the right path, wind filling the sails and pushing them forward. Another storm comes along, rocking the boat, casting them toward the rocks, throwing them so far off course, only a compass can lead them home. But, thank God, they have that compass. It’s called love, and it always points toward home.

Kayla’s fire will burn down everything in their path and one day it will be “Fair winds and following sea,” If they can just live that long…

If I could give negative stars, I would! This was the most ridiculous book I have ever read! It was extremely tedious to read, and the constant push pull between the characters was STUPID! No sooner does Ghost tell Kayla he will never leave her, and he leaves. I bought it the first time, but this happened all through the book. Then we have Kayla who, if it weren't for bad luck thus chick would have no luck at ALL!!! The robbers in the jewelry store was so freaking stupid and unbelievable I laughed out loud (it was supposed to be a tense moment, not funny). Giving birth on stage - again STUPID! If I could get beyond all the superfluous crap that did nothing for the story and all the ridiculous scenarios the author threw at these characters, I would still have a hard time because these two characters were ... Yep STUPID! They were both supposed to be analytical geniuses and yet they couldn't figure out who the bad guy was for MONTHS - REALLY? She could hack satellite codes, but she couldn't figure out what seemed so familiar about the Blood Shark????!!!!! For the head of the SEALS, Ghost wasn't very good at tracking down one serial killer in his own (literally and figuratively) back yard. I found NOTHING redeeming about this book. I know it is getting good reviews, but for me, it just STUNK!!! I was miffed about the ridiculous ending of the first book, but I thought I would give the author another shot. I should have just stuck with my first instincts and skipped this conclusion as I did not find it at all entertaining, and it actually ticked me off. I feel robbed!

4-4.5 Stars!

A lovely read! Admittedly, I was a tiny bit disappointed because I was hoping there’d be a little more Shark action. It’s not that there wasn’t any, but I would’ve liked a little more action thrown in is all.

For those who’ve read book 1, book 2 leaves off a little after book 1 with the Shark still on the loose and Kayla & Thane having their lover’s spat. I won’t go into an extremely long review about what I liked because I don’t have enough time to list all of them so here are the key things I did and didn’t like.

Liked:
Kayla’s and Thane’s relationship:
The two are like fire and ice, but boy do they create some steamy—that is, steamy sex scenes. ;) But also a hot romance as well! In fact, most of this novel focuses solely on their romantic relationship with pretty much everything coming second since everything else matters because it affects their love somehow. There’s definitely a lot more drama so be prepared for that because you get little time to breathe before the next tense conflict comes.

Mace and Nina’s relationship:
It’s minor. It’s extremely minor. It’s a lot more minor than I expected. You get a tiny glimpse of the potential budding relationship, but it was enough to have me on board. You can bet I’ll be reading book 3 for their story!

The action:
I was sad that the Shark situation was sort of in the background (not completely forgotten, but the romance definitely outshone the Shark thing). However, what action we did get was definitely an adrenaline rush (metaphorically speaking) so it made up for it in that regard.

Disliked:
There are a few extremely minor things I disliked, but the one I hated the most was Kayla’s anger towards Thane . Look girl, I understand why you’re angry. Heck, I’d still be heartbroken and angry too if I was in that situation. You have the right to be angry, but not the right to condemn him for it when his life literally depended on it. What frustrated me more is when she says she understands, but still condemns him for it. I’m not saying she should let her feelings and the whole thing go (I know I probably wouldn’t…or at least not quickly). I’m just saying I would’ve expected her to handle it more maturely than just throwing it back in his face by blaming him.

Overall, despite my mini rant about what I disliked (which more of a personal preference), I truly did enjoy Kayla’s Fire! If you loved the first one, I guarantee you’ll like the second one. Just as much or more is hard to say, but you won’t be unsatisfied for sure so read it now if you’ve read the first one already! That being said, I’m anticipating for book 3 with Mace and Nina!

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.
After reading Code Name: Ghost I waited eagerly and maybe a little impatiently for the second & last part to Snow White & Ghosts story. The waiting was certainly worth the wait.

I started reading this book this morning & only moved off the sofa to make coffee until I had finished!!

Let me say I loved reading Code Name: Ghost. I had a big book hangover after reading it. The story of Ghost & Kayla has stuck with me since reading it. But what a cliffhanger it ended with. That nearly killed me. I kept thinkin how could an author be so cruel to leave the reader hanging like that. However I'm seeing method in her madness... After ending like that of course your gonna want to read the second book. Also an ending like that ain't gonna be forgotten in a hurry!
Now onto this book Kayla's fire. Oh my dayz what a story. Firstly I didn't want to start it as I was afraid of what the author was going to throw at me. I was right to be afraid. This had me wanting to throw my kindle on several occasions and had me shouting at my kindle.
I wanted to rant at the author for putting me through turmoil.....

These two books are gonna stay with me for a long time. Although there will be more to the series this doesn't end in a cliffhanger.
I recommend you gift these two books as Christmas presents... You will be loved forever.

Absolutely adore every thing about this book... Except Kayla, the main character. The story carries every single thing one could wish for in suspense. The twists and turns surprise, shock and keep you biting your nails and turning those pages! I was personally amazed at the depth with which this author can write while juggling so many different threads so deftly!
That's why it was such a disappointment that Kayla's character was SO unsympathetic. She never showed even a hint of kindness toward Thane. Even though we understand her reasons, we are never given any glimpse whatsoever into her heart. Therefore we only see her actions and they are NOT likable. Especially as we have to watch Thane beg and grovel throughout the book trying to make her want to stay with him. With that large drawback, it is a testament to the amazing talent of Ms. Waters that this book still receives such high praise. One only needs to open that first page to understand, however, that, while we may not like the heroine, the sheer joy in devouring such a tightly written roller coaster of a story is well worth the nails lost!!

There was nothing redeemable in this book for me. Not only did it take me two freaking weeks to read it because I struggled so hard with the storyline I just grew to loathe the two main characters. I get it...and the author doesn't let you forget it...Kayla has severe emotional trauma that she is so far in denial about even remotely acknowledging she somehow finds it perfectly okay to treat Captain Austen like a piece of garbage through the entire book. And this great guy...who was Commander Austen in the first book - did he get demoted or something?...acts like he deserves her punishment.

Clue yourself in Thane, she is being verbally abusive to you! Additionally, where did your spine go? I actually found myself rooting for the Shark to get her and hopefully put me out of my misery. Ugh...just, ugh...I will not be reading anymore from this author.

I gave myself a couple of days to try and get some distance and perspective on this book. Reading this book is akin to riding a mechanical bull. You are happy, you get mad, and then you get even madder as it bucks you to and fro. You hang on for dear life, because darn it, you want to know what bloody well happens. Be warned, this book may make you want to throw your book/reading device against a wall. You love it, you hate it then you love it again. I want to mark it down a star because it made me so crazy but in the end I can not. My only critique would be that I wish there were a little more of the Kayla in Code Name: Ghost in this book and a little more of the Kayla in this book in Code Name: Ghost. Other then that, Nataza's books need to come with warning labels. Caution: may cause sleepless nights and severe book hangovers. If you are a book masochist like me though, you will enjoy every minute of it.

Code Name: Ghost should be read before reading this book. In part one you were riveted to the pages and story of Commander Thane Austen who is a Navy Seal and Kayla who is a tactical specialist that came from the Canadian military. It was written with such depth of the life of Navy Seal's both on and off of the battlefield and also of the effects of PTSD.

There were many loose ends from the first book, Kayla who is damaged pretty intensively on the inside and suffers from PTSD from an abusive marriage and a serial killer named the Shark who is targeted and killing women on the base and Kayla is on his radar. The ending of Ghost was shocking and heartbreaking to the point I couldn’t wait for this book to come out. In looking at others reviews this may just be me but Kayla was just a bit to whack in this book. I liked every other character in the story but her. Thane who thought he had lost his ability to be anything other than a hardened soulless solider fell in love with the broken Kayla and is doing everything in his power to prove he has changed and loves her all while trying to protect her from the Shark. Thane’s Seal’s teammate Mace also plays a big part in this book. I love Mace. He’s not only Shane’s best friend but he has also become Kayla’s and would also give his life for hers. Kayla’s ex-brother in law also shows back up in this one and where I like Greg I didn’t like how Kayla would just throw Thane over for him anytime he was around. We are also introduced to Nina Samson who Kayla worked with in Canada and is also one of her closest female friends. There is definitely something interesting going on between her and Mace. I can’t wait to read their story which is next.

The serial killer aspect of the story is defiantly wrapped up in this book but even though there is a HEA for Thane and Kayla with plenty of surprises I still felt Kayla’s insecurities about herself and Thane should have been a little further along in being dealt with. Even though I was a little disappointed with this book I absolutely will continue on with the series and highly recommend to anyone to read the first book Code Name: Ghost.

I found the first book in the Warrior's Challenge series just a couple of months before Kayla's Fire was released - and it was a good thing seeing there was a cliff hanger, and while I knew that I'd eventually get to that HEA, the wait was hard!! I took a whole Saturday and planted myself on the couch to immerse myself back into Thane and Kayla's world and live with them through all the (crazy-drama-filled-just-wanna-shake-'em) ups and downs. There were several times I was crushed at the whole "oh no! What on earth are they going to have to deal with now??!!" and was just hanging on and begging for some good times for these two! And when they had those good times, whew, were they good and sweet and melt-y in my heart!! Man, did they need to have and store up those good memories for the bad times!! Luckily, Thane realized that with everything Kayla had lived through and was living through, she needed him to never, ever, *ever* give up - and while there were moments where I wouldn't have blamed him for throwing up his hands and saying never mind, he knew that he couldn't live without her and wouldn't ever let her go (even if it appeared he was, cause that's what Kayla said (but didn't really mean) she wanted him to do).

Natasza didn't disappoint in this story - and I'm on the edge of my seat anxiously awaiting the next books in the series!!!

This book has a permanent place on my keeper shelf and will definitely be re-read often! I enjoyed it even more the 2nd time I read it. :)

What an idiot! The title of this is a joke. Should have been called Kayla's Spinelessness. In book 1 she was completely closed off, didn't show any emotions and even after she and Thane got together, she kept talking like he'd leave her to sleep with any woman who looked at him. In this one, every time a woman came into a scene where she and Thane were there, say a BBQ party, gathering at friends house, etc, she'd just give up and say "oh, Thane would be so much happier with her, let her have him." Even though he was head over heels in love with her. And told her frequently. Every single time this happened, I wanted to knock her upside the head. This book was such a waste of time. No matter what Thane did, she was just so mediocre in her reaction to it. Like she had no emotions or fight in her at all. Very off-putting and I made it to 40% before I started skimming, just to see if I was correct in who her stalker was. To be honest? I would have been very happy if her stalker had killed her, that's how annoying I found her in this book.

In the 40% I had read, she finds out she's pregnant. Thane is over the moon about it, not so much her because again, she's still saying they won't last and he'll move on. Later, in my skimming, she's 6 months pregnant, he's just located her after she ran away (because again there was another woman around) and she tells him she plans to give him the baby when he/she is born and if he doesn't want the baby, she's going to give it up for adoption. WTF?? That's your child you're just nonchalantly talking about giving away. So stupid.

I loved the first book, but this one, OMG, it kept me on the edge of my chair and frayed my nerves pretty much from the Prologue. I knew it HAD to end with marriage, all books do, guy gets the girl of his heart, right? There were so many tense, and down right nail biting situations, separated by a small calm before each storm, that I was not sure by page 363 that they would survive whole and together. How do two so emotionally damaged and stubborn souls find and trust love. Kayla is strong willed, intelligent, quick at analyzing data and developing strategies and backup strategies, she is the best at what she does at Base Command. However, Thane was also very good his own strategy staying with her, even when it was he who was the problem. How could he not. . he's never failed a mission, even when Kayla takes him down more than once, he stayed with her and caught her when she faltered (which was often by the way). Well, I was riveted to the pages of this book, each situation working on that one nerve I have nursed along over the years until at last, Hooyah, the Blood Shark gets it in the end in a very fitting way. Mission accomplished in more ways than that. .

Read book Code Name: Ghost first, I always like to start at the beginning, then Read Code Name: Kayla's Fire. You won't want to put it down until Ghost's final mission is completed. Awesome. Can't wait for what is in store for Mace and Nina. Probably will need cookies and coffee for that one too.

5 Star Read:
Natasza Waters did it again. If I thought Ghost was my boyfriend in the first book, my ovaries exploded in this installment. Ghost was patient, kind, understanding, and selfless. How I would love to make this fictitious character a real man and all mine.

You don't know how many times I shook my kindle and growled in exasperation at Kayla's antics. At one point when I learned along with Thane her lie by omission, I seriously though she was beat over the head with a stupid stick (zero pun intended). After the Hell she endured, why stay tied to the past? I would give a rat's mass how it affects the person of her torment.

Luckily someone bought her a brain because she came to her senses in the knick of time.

In closing, I have to say, I love the Natasza Waters open the path for the next book in the series wetting your appetite for more.

My absolute favorite and will read again and again. I strongly recommend! It has outstanding qualities. The characters are wonderful and surprising and multi-dimensional. The writing is luring, engaging, and well-crafted enough to keep me interested from cover to cover and beyond. The plot is astonishing with twists and turns weaved into a well thought and planned story. There’s no pretense and romance was well balanced and done entirely correctly with properly distributed amounts of hints, behaviors and incredible, undeniable chemistry. Predictability is at an all-time low. With the exception of series based books that follow the same path but are just as good. Overall, Favorite, must read again, recommend!!!

Oh, Baby. I freaking adored this book.

Code Name: Kayla's Fire was the conclusion of Thane--Ghost--and Kayla's--Snow White--story. And holy COW, what an amazingly powerful, gripping, emotional roller coaster ride it was. This book shook me to my very foundations! My emotions were all over the map while reading--and that right there is a sign of a talented author. Oooooh the feels I felt. The ups and downs I went through while reading--the tears I cried, the hurt I suffered right along with the main character--Kayla. LOL, I'm beat--emotionally exhausted--but in a good way.

I fell in love with these characters in the first book of this series--The Warrior's Challenge Series--Code Name: Ghost. I had heard great things about the book. I thought why not give it a try. And hot damn, I'm so glad I did. I was hooked tight. It has been a looooong time since I have been this invested in a book series.

Natasza Waters is a new to me author--and let me say, she has definitely gained a new fan. Her writing is stellar, her characters became like family to me, she wrung emotions out of me that I didn't think I had, lol.

*Stands up, claps, whistles and cheers.*

WOW!!! Would give this book 10 stars if I could!

Read first book in the series a few months ago, and couldn't wait for the second book to come out.

I didn't think second book could beat the first book, but I was wrong. This book is fantastic.

I was that hooked on this book, that I downloaded the book onto Kindle on my iphone, and read it during morning tea breaks and lunch breaks at work. I couldn't put it down.

Thane is the ultimate hero. But its not just him that makes the book. The SEAL team is a family, his team mates are tough, but sweet. Perfect Really!!

Like the re-occurring characters and the team mates wives that also appear in the book. Gives the story fantastic continuity.

Cannot wait for the rest of the books in the series.

If I had to pick a favourite Military Romance series, this series is it.

Was a little disappointed with this book. I loved the first book so much and it felt like forever waiting for this one to come out my expectations might have been a little to high. I kept waiting for something good to happen but it never did. Kayla annoyed me in this book. She dropped Thane for anyone that came along. I cannot believe that she forgave her ex-husband and bought the story he told her. At times she acted very stupid in the book. The blood shark turned out to be some nobody character that I didn't even remember. I found it corny that he got eaten by an actual shark. I didn't really like the ending either. I can't wait for Mace's story though.

The continuation of Code Name: Ghost.

Loved that this book covered more of Thane and Kayla.

The Blood Shark is still on the loose and Thane is doing everything possible to keep Kayla safe. Then Kayla disappears on him, he finally tracks her down and vows to stay with her. Everytime it looks like the two of them will make a go of it, something else happens to distract one or the other. This is what makes the book, the constant battle with each other.

We finally get the ending of Code Name Ghost, and you won't be disappointed.

Not sure what happened from book 1 to book 2, but I couldn't stand Kayla! She was annoying, making me skim over parts to just get through them. I seriously considered not finishing the book, or just skipping to the last few chapters to see if I guessed correctly; who is the blood shark. (which I did figure out on page 72 but had to wait until the end for confirmation). I highly recommend the first book....but if you dislike self pitying, miserable, pathetic characters than dont read the second.

Kayla's Fire is intense!!! I literally slept just 2 hours because I just had to finish the book. Captivating. Gripping. Nonstop suspense and action. Thane and Kayla have to fight against all the odds that come their way. Nothing can come between them. Their love and passion are undeniable. This is a very well deserving book to follow a great series starter, Code Name: Ghost. Highly recommended!

Loved this story so much! I cocooned most of the day reading after polishing off Code Name: Ghost first in less than a day. I was determined to get to the ending. Great read. So let me just start by saying that you would find it quite peculiar for a man to read a steamy romance. I of course might be biased given my particular view on romance books in general. Fret not! as I'll try to make this as objective as possible. I'm also going to post this same review under Code Name: Kayla's fire as I believed that these two books should have been combined into one.

Let me break it down into the good, the bad and the downright ugly.

Good:
Mace, Mace and Mace. Did I mention Mace? Given my many years of book reading (Although my review history may be deceiving) I have rarely encountered a character as instantly likeable as Mace. He acts like a sister to Kayla and overall a good friend that I would have loved to know in real life. He's shown to be loyal, humorous and caring for the people around him. If it wasn't for this single character alone I would've given up this series after the first few chapters.

Bad:
The plot is just mediocre. I got excited to know that there may be a deadly serial killer capable of catching, torturing and ultimately killing the protagonist. The antagonist just didn't feel fleshed out. His motives weren't explained except for a short excerpt from his past. He also turned out to be a character I only faintly remember from the first book.

Don't let the synopsis deceive you. This is about 10% suspense and murder mystery 20% something not about Kayla and Thane and 70% about Kayla's and Thane's ridiculous romance of back and forth love. "I love you" and then 5 paragraphs on "I never want to see you again".

Mrs Waters this isn't how you build characters, this is how you destroy them.

Ugly:

Kayla starts as a strong and independent woman who can look out for herself. I understand that she suffers from PTSD but there is no need to mention this fact repeatedly throughout the book. She, later on, starts devolving into a whining, mindless, and irresponsible woman in the second book. An infuriating example would be the desert battle in the first book.

Code Name: Kayla's Fire is the continuation of Thane and Kayla story. It was a wonderful read yet at times too much drama between the leading couple especially the sparring back and fourth, how long they combatted back with each other each not giving an inch. Sometimes I felt as if I was watching/reading a tennis match with the ball being lobbed back and forth between the two that sometimes it became somewhat tedious and I found myself saying, get over it. But as with PTSD, there isn't a fast fix and depression can paralyze a person and in this case, Natasza brought out how the devastating illness takes such a hold on an individual as it had on Kayla. In the first book we discovered the serial killer known as the "Shark" and the story seemed more edgy and gripping, because of this element. You felt the fear. In this book, there were more character developments between Thane and Kayla providing the reader with a more defining awareness of just who they truly were, where they came from and how they got to be who they are. There's no doubt that Kayla and Thane were very strong characters yet the bickering, the mistrust (and you understand where they are coming from having endured traumatic pain in their pasts) but to me, it went a bit overboard in my opinion but then again, there no quick fix for severe trauma causing PTSD. Having said that, I found this book very enjoyable, a can't put it down until finished reading. Natasza style of writing is superb and she has found another follower of her writings.
