I'm 26 years old, living in central Jersey.

I love reading and writing. Need to, to be honest. As an experienced submissive, I promote the sane side of bdsm. (As I've found it to be.) I'm very passionate about bdsm.

I recommend....
I have several thoughts running through my head, so hopefully I can stay organized enough for everyone to follow.
There were some difficult situations with the breath play for me, this was based on my own experiences and I didn't allow it to reflect on the rating of the book.
I was also concerned with how quickly the characters found themselves in a sexual situation. This concerns me because, I would hope that when a person truly walks into such a relationship said person would give more time and thought before jumping in. Can't be too cautious these days and giving yourself so freely needs a certain amount of trust. Without that things can be scary. Please remember everyone to use SSC. :)
Next up is the pot issue, it really didn't serve a purpose and I felt it wasn't necessary. I get that is big right now, but it's old school to me.
I felt some of the questions could have been statements and when read as statements made more sense. I think the author was trying to get across the submission, but I can't picture Claire being that weak, unless the Dom was just that strong....if so, I didn't get that impression. As a matter of fact he seemed like a typical Dom, asking all the right questions and handling her needs accordingly.
With all the negative being said, there was a lot of positive!
In the last six months I have read over 250 novels pertaining to alpha male or a Dom. This book has made BDSM the most real I have read. The conversations where on target, the feelings of loss...separation, the anxiety that can swell up. It was easily hangs down the closest I've come to a real life scenario, and for that the author gets a ton of kudos. That is what sets this book apart from the others and what gives it a 4 star rating.
I'm looking forward to the next installment and seeing just how much the author grows with her work. :)
Awesome job Kimberlee!! I'm looking forward to the next one :) keep me informed, I am excited to see where you go with this :)

I'd give this book a 3.5, if that was an option. I really enjoyed having a look at a whole new lifestyle and world that I wasn't privy to prior to this novel. I was excited to get a glance through a window at a couple, Quinn and Clara, who find a way to be together when they are so similar in almost every way...except that ones a caring dom and the other a not-so-confident as she portrays submissive. I enjoyed the scenes at the bar and when they first met. They were very well written. I also enjoyed their stint in Rack and at the dinner and wished there were so many more! I think the author enjoyed writing about sex and thus, there is an over abundance of sex in this novel which unfortunately can seem predictable and drown out the characters lives. I wanted to like Clara more but I didn't by the end. I had no attachment to her emotionally, no real backstory other than where she worked, so I fought hard to identify with her since I've never been a dom or sub and couldn't connect on that level. Quinn was interesting. His caring nature was endearing and helped me like him more but he also lacked backstory as well other than his work. I enjoyed the book and wished there was less "thank you", "sorry" and "sir" to distract me but even through those things I could see a capable writer in the story.

Very good erotic s & m book. I love how this book delves into the depths of the dominant/submissive relationship. The characters seem to grow as the story is told. Well written in the aspect of the levels that are achieved by a Sub and Dom relationship. I look forward to reading more in this series. A great add to your tbr list. Definitely recommended.

A love story with a S/M theme. A good story with the love of pain for the M/C thrown into the story.

If I were to hazard a guess, I would categorize Subfrenzy as part romance and part erotica. The story revolves around Clara, a woman with acute submissive tendencies. For the past four years, she had successfully pushed back these urges, shunning her past life as a Sub or Submissive (she used to have a Dom-Sub relationship with the dominant male named Rhys).

Enter Lanie, Clara's roommate, who is researching bondage, discipline, sado-masochism (BDSM) as the subject of her thesis. When Clara decides to help Lanie by teaching her the mechanics of this little-known world, it surfaces Clara's long-submerged desires, especially when they visited a BDSM establishment called Rack's. Here, Clara is exposed to the life she used to have, making her self-imposed abstinence more impossible to resist. Meantime, during the mentoring process, Lanie develops a taste for it, throwing herself into this edgy world, even serving as a Dom with her own male submissive.

When Clara meets a handsome financial adviser named Quinn at a bar, the connection between the two is obvious. Little did she know that Quinn also belongs in the BDSM circuit and has over the years been living a private life as Dom to several submissives . This is as far as what I am going to say for I don't want to issue any spoiler. But a really good plot in my opinion. The author clearly knows the mechanics of the BDSM universe, either through research or living the life. The relationship between Dom and Submissive is believable, supported by the technical aspects of such a liaison. I learned about the checklist, enumerating the wants, dos and donts of the submissive, a sort of contract between the Dom and the Sub before they enter into a relationship. There seems to be a BDSM network of like-minded individuals; the characters in the book seem to know each other through the grapevine. Subfrenzy showed me the "professional" world of BDSM, taking me to establishments that catered to connoisseurs of bondage and pain, such as Rack's where participants apply for jobs either as a Dom or a Submissive, much like on-stage actors, except these ones get their sexual kicks too. All very fascinating revelation.

Like a two-edged sword, this technical accuracy can have its negative points. The established ground rules between the Dom and the Sub can diminish the spontaneity of the book (we know nothing bad will happen to Clara). While this may be good in the real world, it eliminates the suspense in fictional storytelling. It diminishes the danger, the foreshadowing, the what -ifs, thus reducing the narrative depth by the predictability of circumstance.

The BDSM sessions between Clara and Quinn are quite good in the beginning but developed a familiar sameness as the story progressed. Sexual scenes are reused with few deviations, almost always ending in frantic intercourse between Clara and Quinn followed by lovey-dovey aftermaths. It would have been better if readers experience something new with each Dom-Sub encounter. I would have appreciated less telling and more showing of the urges Clara feels, the wanting agony she suffers through, and the excruciating arousal she experiences when she finally satiates her desires during the sessions. It should be more visceral, searing, excruciating. But this is a matter of reader perspective and some may find the scenes just right.

For me, the major fault falls on the narrative itself, which requires major edits. The storytelling is confusing. I had to reread some scenes several times to get the essence of what is going on. This is partly because the book is dialogue-heavy, pages upon pages of conversation, many of them unimportant banter that didn't advance the plot, character development, or heighten the sexual tension. Long exchanges of "Hi, how are you - I'm fine thank you" type of dialogue slow down the pacing. Often, I couldn't tell who is talking due to lack of attribution. There is nothing wrong with saying "Clara said" or "Quinn said" to clarify the dialogue. Rough transition between scenes/ images, and constant shifts in point of view also contributed to the confusion. One moment we are in Clara's perspective, the next moment, we are in Lanie's or some third person unimportant to the story.

This could have been a really good book, but I feel the author rushed it to press. One cannot appreciate a good story (and this one has it) if the storytelling is confusing. Fortunately, a good rewrite/edit will fix these problems. And with ebooks, a better version is just one upload away.

I really hope the author goes back and fixes these problems, because she can have a gem of a book.

There are stories that you read and enjoy and then forget all about. This is NOT one of those stories. Subfrenzy sticks with you. It makes you question everything. Right versus wrong. Love versus obsession. Pain versus pleasure.

A great story, to me, makes me question. A great story, to me, sticks with me, even if I don't want it to. A great story, to me, makes me question myself. A great story, to me, shows me new worlds and ideas.

This book is an intense view into a world I have no knowledge of and no desire to be part of; real, hardcore s/m.

Clara is a submissive masochist who happens to fall into the arms of her soulmate, a Dominant sadist, Quinn. They weren't looking for each other, but something was drawing them to one another. Clara had never had a Dom before, but she knew she needed one. Quinn has had several subs, but they weren't serious about it.

Clara is serious about being submissive and about s/m. This pleases Sir, greatly.

After they have "the talk," the reader learns, quickly, they are about to be taken on a ride to another world. And what an outrageous world to read about. I could feel everything Clara did, I was able to see through her eyes, feel through her skin (ouch!). This author did such a wonderful job describing the pain that half the time I found myself wondering if I'd enjoy it; the other half of the time I was wincing at the idea.

At first glance, this is straight up erotica, but don't be fooled, this is actually a sweet love story (with a massive amount of intense, hardcore, BDSM erotica).

I loved seeing this relationship bloom into more than a Dom/sub agreement. By the end real emotions had been formed. I can't wait to read the next book in the series and disappear into Clara's world again.

Subfrenzy is not for the faint of heart, unless you're in to that. ;-)

Unlike most of the Did Not Finish books, I am giving this a score. The author tried repeatedly to get me a properly formatted copy, but it never happened.

This is the first thing the author needs to look at. Make sure your book is properly formatted. Not just for reviewers, but for the readers. Try this book to help you do it yourself: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VFUXI4/a... thoughts-20

Outside of the formatting, there were problems with line spacing. It went from single-spaced to double spaced through the book. Pick one line spacing and keep it. According to the editors I know, 1.5 is preferred. Either indent five spaces, or no indentations at all.

To the story. I had read a good 45% of the book when the author sent an email saying there was a new file to upload. This is when the formatting problems began, and why I am willing to review based on what I did read.

It needs a lot of work. Much needless dialogue kept the story slogging as if through mud. I never really read a thing that had me totally interested in finishing it. I am not sure if the whole formatting problems just distracted from the story, but even before the format problems, I was not completely interested in the story.

The author needs to invest in an editor, and proper formatting.

*I was given Subfrenzy for exchange of an honest review*

I really enjoyed this book! The storyline was entertaining and if your new like me to the BDSM world, than educational as well:) I quickly got attached to the characters, and felt their pain and happiness as I watched them grow through the story. This is not just a book about sex, it’s a complex, emotional journey that will open your eyes to a whole new world. I will definitely be reading more from Kimberlee Jane. Recommended to adults only.

I thought the s/m aspect of the story was well written, informative and interesting. The characters were great together, but the dialog had me wondering who was speaking, and some parts of plot just felt off. The ending had me questioning why it ended there - seemed like an end of a chapter. Not sure if my e book was formatted properly because lots of typos and incomplete sentences. Would give a second book a chance because promising storyline.
