Soreya Lang has never met a male telepath before, let alone one who is willing to die for her on an interplanetary mission gone wrong. Risking everything, she acts on her instant telepathic and physical connection with Esca and encounters a level of psychic power she never knew existed.
Esca can’t believe he’s finally met the female who will complete his sexual and telepathic triad. He promises himself that if they survive, he’ll take her back home, introduce her to his enigmatic First Male, Ash and pray that biology will do the rest.
But nothing is ever that simple, and Soreya, Esca and Ash will have to find their own way through the ties of family and traditions to experience the full telepathic wonder of the power of three…
Warning: This book contains m/m/f sexual situations.

Esca and Ash, Esca and Soreya, Soreya and Esca and Ash! I enjoyed the story line very much. Even for the ones who don't enjoy SciFi too much, yes, you are cleverly reminded that the story indeed plays out not in this time or place, yet there is no overload on technical "out of this world" ranting. The book transitions fairly quickly into the "core" of the story without leaving out proper introduction of the main characters. A beautiful development between 3 people. Even though Soreya had plenty of challenges in her life, she never loses sight of who she is and she is never too broken to not see a bright future. It's refreshing to read about a woman who is not full of selfpity and drama all the time. It's nice to read about two men in a loving "normal" relationship with all its ups and downs.KP yet once again achieved a wonderful story. Explicit but not overbearing. Raunchy but not extreme. Plenty emotions but not cheesy. The story moved along beautifully, never felt rushed even with several big time jumps in the beginning, and I would definitely enjoy a book 2 or 3 :)
Another Kate Pearce hit! Even if you are a fan of Science Fiction, I believe that you can enjoy the heated, sexual tension and hot sex scenes she provides in this book. She has great character development. It was hard to put this down and makes you want for more to read.
For the most part, I really enjoyed this Sci-Fi Romance Menage. The concept of higher status and matehood being determined on psychic compatibility in one race while another race looks down on those with psychic ability was an interesting take. I was also curious about the whole triad thing and enjoyed the sample I read.
As I got into the plot, I wasn't disappointed by the overall world building and plot development. There was good action and I really liked each character. Ash and Esca's relationship seemed choppy to me in places as did some of the character development. Ash and Esca are strangers and Esca feels hostile toward Ash and then flip a few pages that indicate several years have gone by and their like an old crotchety married pair who still have some issues, but are in love and now ready to add Soreya to the mix. I wanted to see what happened that brought them from the arranged mating to love and compatibility. I wanted to get to know the characters a bit better so their behaviors would make better sense. When the three came together, it was fun seeing how they affected each other and how the dynamics changed. Soreya was a bit willful, but she was in a strange place and didn't know what the future would bring so it made sense. Esca just let it all hang out so there was no secret of what he wanted. Ash was something of an enigma who is afraid to open up and accept all of what he felt for Soreya. They were one hot triad and this is the first book in the series so maybe other books will develop some of these things more.
2.75 This novella had surprising depth ... However ... The story ends without any sort of resolution to the plotline. Thinking it would continue with the next book, I downloaded book two, but to my surprise and disappointment book 2 dealt with an entirely different couple .... I mean, Wtf? I'm SO confused and now feel like I read half a story.
Meh. It had a potential to be much better with more in-depth world building, but then, this is erotica so storyline most often is relinquished to the secondary position. For this book it is a shame, because of the nice balance between the characters. The ending was very abrupt and particulally disappointing.
Got this for free on Google PlayBook. The book was near perfect. Definitely grabbing the rest in the series and hopefully we can see more Ash, Esca and Soreya and maybe little telephatics babies? 🤩
I was looking for SOMETHING new. SOMETHING different. I messaged my author friend Christina and said “Quick give me a name” and BOOM I got Kate’s name. I then started to scroll through her library of books annnnnnd this book called to me. Actually the SERIES called to me. I would classify this book as a Sci Fi story . Oh so this book starts off with hot head soldier Esca being told that even though he is a hot shot military guy he is gonna be the Beta or Second Male to Senator Ash. Uhm Ash is not pleased but will do his duty to the family. Fast forward 8 years and Esca is ready to go all in with Ash. The two have grown closer and Esca realizes he has feelings for this man. This soldier who thought he would be the First Male in a ménage with 2 woman is stunned to know he wants this relationship with Ash. When Ash teaches Esca about what this relationship will be, Esca is excite about the future in buuuut he still would like the 3rd party to be a female. Fast Forward to a year later and we meet Private Lang. She and Esca are on an assignment when they are both left for dead. While surviving Esca can FEEL that Lang is the 3rd part of their Ménage but will Ash take to her. OMG the relationship of Lang and Ash is a riot. They are both soooo similar and it takes a hot head soldier to get them to figure stuff out. When they do finally figure out they want to be together Lang freaks plus finds out some personal stuff about her DNA AND what happened to her as a child. I loved this story and cannot wait to read more in the series.
Difficult not to rip into everything which doesn't work (for me), so in general it was OK. Esca, on "graduating" is informed by "The Oracle" that he is "Second Male" to Ash, a young, important "Senator". Esca is cross that he is not "First Male", but Ash allows him to come to terms with this prophesy. Eight years later, Esca is put in charge of a "Special Forces" unit which goes to fight on another planet, where he is actually "rescued" by Soreya Lang, a female "Telepath" soldier. This planetary male-orientated society has no use for anyone with telepathy skills - apart from using them in a battle situation (occasionally). BTW, Soreya's mother was "executed" for having a telepathic daughter instead of killing her at birth (but then again, how would she/they have known she was telepathic at birth...) Anyway, Esca brings Soreya to his home with Ash - and OK, they are now (we don't know HOW) sexual partners, and Soreya is "destined" to be their "Third" to make them all more "powerful" (not that we are told HOW they become more powerful!) Even the menage sex is mediocre, with no real explanation of how they got there eventually. So: all my Quoted " " words are begging an explanation. We are told nothing, not how things work, not how society has dealt with telepathy, not how some have less/more telepathy than others, no reason for extra-planetary war/fighting, no reason/s for the pro/ante telepathy skill, zilch.
This steamy story has a nice combination of a basic but interesting alien setting and story framing repeated scenes of mm, mf, and mmf heat. A spicy treat for reader show like a little science fiction flavor with heated, threeway alien eyes scenes.
On the plus side, for alien smut I appreciated the respectful interaction among 3 characters, including full on/reciprocal male switching despite “First Male” and “Second Male” roles, as well as importance of choice in accepting “fated” mates.
Writing quality - 3. 25 stars (prose flows well) Story strength - 2.5 stars (porn with a light bit of plot) Heat - 4 stars Chemistry/character interaction- 4.25 stars
Could be so much better, but the story plot line is filled out with sex scenes rather than actual plot. I'm not knocking that! What plot there was, was pretty good. All the sex is MM, MF, MFM, MMF. Pretty much the whole enchilada.
No cheating. No weird kinks. Just three people trying to find out if they should be together forever.
At the end of the book, there is a "sneak preview" of book two. That one looked good enough that I'd like to read it. So even though there was a noticeable lack of detailed plot, it was still a good story. And I'm going to read the next one.
A few minor grammar errors. Nothing too terribly distracting. And me, who's been reading smut for over thirty years, actually started skimming through the ones here. That's how many there were...
Title- I wish a different title was chosen. We "hear" the talk of power but don't see it actually ever happen. It's a myth at this time because it I guess we are supposed to believe it's happened.
Plot- This could have been so much more if the world building had been developed more. I know it's a novella but it can be done. Both the world and plot had great potential and in fact was uber intriguing towards the end.
I liked it a lot more than I had expected to. For whatever reason I didn't think this would have much meat but it had a lot and I just wish it had more. I would love to read more I just hope there is more to the stories to read.
First off, I love Kate Pearce. I have enjoyed every book I have read of hers. I didn't know what to expect from this book, but she didn't disappoint. Although it had a slow start, I couldn't put it down. The male on male scenes are hot. The male on female scenes are hot. The menage scenes are hotter. It really picked up once two of the main characters get stranded on a hostile planet. The Power of Three leaves you with a want to read more. I'm kinda hoping there is a book about two of the supporting characters coming. If you haven't read from Kate Pearce, I definitely recommended you start.
This one was a bit too angst-ridden for me but I can see why the h would be so negative knowing how she had been treated throughout her life. The primary M/M was a bit much but again, I know others appreciate it.
People I wanted to strangle... Grandparents and the h's initial commander. Sadly, people like them actually exist which is scary as fear-based intolerance is extremely dangerous. You can like or dislike something without stepping on the rights of others or mistreating them. Rant over... 😊
On the Pavlovian planet lives a race of telepathic people who mate in threes. Esca and Ash found each other years ago and have been together and waiting for their third. Years later they find their third in a woman named Soreya who lives on another planet named Etruscan. Her planet treats telepaths like they are outcasts. So when she meets Esca and Ash she is hesitant to be with them, but excited to meet male telepaths for the first time.
I was excited about this one because it's a sci-fi romance that's also a MMF ménage. It's just not a specific trope you see often and I love MMF ménages in any shape or form.
Unfortunately, just about the only thing I liked about this book is that it's a ménage. Everything else was very bland, flat, and underdeveloped.
There's kind of a plot but it's pretty weak. The book universe was hard to picture and not developed very well. And the relationship between the three of them was so boring. I didn't sense any chemistry with any of them at all.
Soreya is very self depreciating and constantly putting herself down for wanting both Esca and Ash -- even though this is a social norm on the planet she's on with them.
The steam had potential but mostly it cut off as it was getting good. Like it would start out hot, but then everyone would come too quickly with no buildup.
Overall it was just not very good. The story and characters were flat and boring and the steam most missed the mark. I don't plan to continue the series at this point.

Honestly I was expecting another mediocre fluff book or a story template I've seen a million times-I don't even know actually. All I can say is this is NOT what I was expecting and now I'm absolutely hooked. If you read this genre often, you know how exciting it is to find an awesome new series or author pop up in the sea of thousands while dodging bad writing. It's often a toss-up with crappy odds it won't end up as another "3 star". I was really surprised at the amount of detail the author provided in such a short book. It's crazy. The characters are absolutely amazing and everything about it was really well staged and extremely developed for the length. There's a lot going on in the plot, but it all flows quite naturally given the writing style.
The timeline spans years so we get a ton of detail in the evolution of each character and their relationships with one another. The only issue with this is fitting so much into 134 pages causes some scenes to seem abrupt. Honestly I'd be sooo happy if it were a lot longer by even a couple hundred pages... or more. Seriously. I was so immersed in it that I was actually confused at first when it ended. I was waiting for more as some of the end scenes and situations easily set it up to continue and I feel like there wasn't a solid ending. It felt a little condensed as a whole but was so good I can't be mad. I really hope the vein of the story continues into the next one.
Disclaimer: I got this book for free on Kindle. I participated in stuff your kindle day where I got a bunch of romance books for free, roughly 2,000 books. I normally do not read romance books but I wanted to try the genre. I typically read fantasy, science fiction, biographies, and classics so this is way out of my comfort zone. My plan is to draw a book at random without reading the summary, title, and avoiding looking at the cover. As long as the book is not too graphic for me or leads into something uncomfortable, I will be attempting to finish as many of these books as I can in 2024. I understand that many of these books will likely not be top tier but I am hoping that I can learn something about the romance genre as a whole and figure out if any types of books in this genre are for me.
My Review: Uhm.. I'm so confused by what I just read. Absolutely nothing about this book felt smooth. The main premise involves 2 males who both want this girl and also want each other. One of them doesn't want to admit they want the girl but then they have the girl? Nothing made me feel like the decision to not want the girl would be overwritten outside of pure horniness. I'm done reading Kindle for a bit probably maybe.

So this is sci-fi and I'm not into that so I can't really tell you if any of that portion makes sense. Basically Esca (war hero) and Ash (senator) are fated to be together in a 3-some and so far they haven't met their female mate yet. Some war stuff happens. Some stuff with telepathy, which is hot. Then they meet Soreya. She's like an outcast on her planet because she's a telepath and they tend to execute those.
Anyway, there's some good sex. That said, I wish it'd had a little more description in the sexscapades. They always started hot but then just kind of "finished".
Also, the book just ended. There was a HUGE revelation and then it was, "and they lived happily ever after. the end". I'm like WTF! what happened after the revelation??
The audio was all male and it was sexy as freck. Oh, that's another thing. Instead of saying fuck they used the word freck. It didn't make sense because that was really the only word that they changed. So random.
This is probably more of a 3 than a 4, but I love M/M sex and I don't get to read very many of those.
Esca gets mated to Ash when he is 18, he thought he would be the first male not the second and rebelled against it. Ash knew Esca was strong and patiently waited eight years for them to fully thier mate bond. Skip to a year later and Esca is going back on a mission where he meets a woman from another plant Soreya. Soreya has never met a male telepath before, where she comes form telepaths are the lowest class not even considered to be people, so when she gets stranded on a mission, the last thing that she’s expecting to see was Esca rescuing her. This a cute fast read and the plot is interesting how they find their mates. The matehood is on psychic compatibility, I have never seen that before and really liked it. The book starts out when Esca is 18, then goes to 8 years later than 1, the sad thing is about that we miss how Ash and Esca fell in love. This book does have all three of them falling in love, and like wow the spice parts there are a ton and they are great. MMF/ MFM/ MF/ MM.
Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

I wanted to like this; I really did. It had an interesting premise, which could develop into an interesting world and characters that were likable enough. But it is just SO clumsily done that I couldn't particularly enjoy it. There isn't enough nuance; the plot isn't developed enough (and it ends precipitously at an awkward point). The writing was pedestrian but functional, except for some clunky dialogue and any time the author had to discuss anything military. Then, it was shockingly amateurish. There were also some inconsistencies, and it needed another editing pass (which would also likely have caught some of the inconsistencies.) Mostly, the story it was trying to tell needed (and deserved) a defter hand.
Oh, and I wish authors would say fuck. This book did the annoying thing of using Frek instead of fuck and then littered it everywhere. Just curse, for god's sake. It's a polyamorous erotic novel. Anyone choosing to read such a thing should be able to handle a few dozen fucks in dialogue. (I hate when authors do this so much. So much.)
Overall not a bad book, but it depends on what you are expecting. In my opinion, The Power of Three tries to do too many things, but it doesn't really succeed at most of them. There is some world building, more than a simple erotic book usually has, but less than is needed for a fantasy novel (for example). The character development is handled the same way. Not quite enough to feel like you connect with the characters but just enough to be disappointed that they aren't more developed. There is a plot, but again, it doesn't really go anywhere. I thought it might continue in some way in the second, but that books shifts focus entirely. (Maybe later in the series all the plot lines converge?) I found the steamy scenes a bit awkward if I'm being honest. Most of the scenes were rather abrupt, and I think that's because some of this reads like a fantasy novel and then it suddenly flips back to an erotic novel. It's a bit confusing. If the synopsis catches your eye, give it a chance. I did enjoy it enough to grab the second one.
You know what? This was, surprisingly, okay. And I'd even go as far as refuting the "it's all about sex" comments. Like, sure, they do things to each other way too often but there is plot and enough of a connection and emotions to make it... quasi-respectable instead of just... nakid times, if you pardon my childish language. Also, it's 3+ hours. Yes, reading, say, 600 pages long novel of this style would hurt but the length kept a brisk pace that kept the story going even amidst all the undressing. Not that they always bothered but... *cough* Anyway...
The narrator was so soft-spoken. Even with the male voices, there was something slow and deliberate and... I have thankfully found out my initial impression of guys being useless as narrators because their female characters sounded atrocious was just a string of bad luck.
The Sribd also has the following instalments so... I gotta go.
This book has become my go-to instead of comfort food. The scenes are steamy, sure, but the emotion is what brings me back again and again to this book. I'm not usually a fan of m/m scenes, but they were emotionally rich and beautiful. I liked that Ash and Esca, and Ash and Soreya, take time to know and appreciate each other. I was also interested in the overall story, the depiction of Pavlovan and Etruscan culture. As they were biologically the same I assumed they were both settled by earthpeople in the far past, but this was not explained in the story. I would have loved an epilogue, I didn't want the book to end :)
Standalone. 3rd person triple pov. No graphic violence, though it is alluded to (they are in the middle of a war, and Etruscans consider telepaths subhuman). Very steamy.
