WOW WOW WOW

where to start, i have waited for this book since Kate started to write and from seeing her first ever teaser...and holy hell did this book deliver...If i could rate this book ten stars i would..

Best debut book i have ever read..Kates writing is beautifully written i was right there in the story. The characters were brilliant.. I fell in love with every single one of them... I shed tears at the memories and laughed my head off in parts and totally swooned my backside off at Chase... Every girl i know needs a Chase in there life he is the ultimate loving caring fictional boyfriend... This book is one of my favourites of 2013... I cannot wait for book two and will be reading all Kate's future releases...

OH.MY.FREAKING.GOD !!

Okay... Let me tell you first that I wasn't prepared for this, at all! I read the summary and it was attractive but hot damn what a book !! Kate is FANTASTIC!
It's crazy because I wonder how can I love so much a book that ripped my heart? Literally shattered it?

Kate wrote an amazing story but most of all she created an incredible character: Sophie. From the very first page I was hooked, I couldn't put it down even if I knew that I had to wake up early next morning. It was worth it!
Sophie stayed strong for a promise but after this promise would never come she had to figure out how to breath again. Moving out of the house that holds the most amazing memories of her life was hard but it would mean that she was trying to continue to live and not drown.
Loosing someone is difficult but adjusting your life because this person isn't in your life anymore is harder.

The changing POV is one of the reason that makes the book so interesting, i seriously loved it. I cried, held my breath, gasped for air, smiled, laugh... But most of all, I believed.

I enjoyed it for the most part, but it was SO incredibly LONG (close to 600 pages) and it really felt that way too. Sometimes you can't tell with long books because you're enjoying it so much and you may not even want it to end but in this case I started to get antsy and impatient to see the end. Not that it wasn't decent but it really started to drag for me. I didn't get annoyed at any of the characters, I just wish it was a little shorter and there were less flashbacks and trips to the past about her ex who passed away. It really bogged it down although they were very touching and sad.

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

WOW!!! What an amazing emotional rollercoaster ride of a book this is! Sophie and Ana are leaving their small town after the death of Jack, Sophie’s love and Ana’s brother. They made a promise to him before he went to Afghanistan that they would take care of each other if something happened to him. Sophie has barely been living life for the past year. She is plagued by horrible, vivid nightmares about Jack. They believe leaving town and starting fresh will help mend their broken hearts. As she and Ana adjust to their new lives, Sophie meets Chase who has a painful past as well. When the two meet, they actually begin to feel again. As the two grow closer, their pasts continue to affect their future. Can Sophie let go of her pain and share her heart with Chase? Can Chase let go of his trust issues long enough to give a chance at “real love” a try?

There are so many things I LOVED about this book and things that set it apart from other romances for me. It is told in four POVs, Sophie, Ana, Chase, and Drake (Chase’s cousin). You might think this would really make it confusing, but it really helps move the book along. It provided a more in-depth look at the characters and their inner most feelings which helped me connect better with each character. Kate Benson’s writing style is nothing short of beautiful. Her flashbacks of Sophie and Jack were so vivid. I felt like I was there and felt everything Sophie did. There were many times I cried my eyes out, especially the airport scene when Sophie and Jack are saying goodbye to each other. Even the flashbacks Ana has of her brother are bittersweet. It allows you to see the different ways each women grieved for Jack. Her descriptive detail to each scene was fantastic too. The title for the book was perfect! The characters in this book make promises to the people they love. But as we know in life, promises can be easily broken. This book deals with the consequences of when those promises are broken either intentionally or unintentionally. I loved every character in this book, but of course, Sophie, Jack, and Chase stand out for me. The way Kate writes about Sophie’s grief is so raw and real. My heart broke for her as it did for Chase. Even though Jack is no longer physically “in the picture”, he is very much a main character that I loved.

Warning: this book will literally tear your heart out! Poor Sophie…I kept wondering how much more pain could this poor girl take. It is an emotionally, gut-wrenching book that will have you crying, laughing, and crying again. The end of the book will leave you somewhat speechless but wanting more. In fact, Kate, you need to have the sequel done like yesterday! FANTASTIC READ!!!!

I read this book after watching a couple girls go buck wild on an auction to win a signed proof of it. Needless to say I was not let down. Sophie is a girl learning to live again without the love of her life, Jack. She suffers from terrible nightmares and depression. Just getting up and functioning on a daily basis is a hassle. Her and Jack's sister Ana move away to start their life anew. Upon moving to this new town they both meet someone who could not only take their minds off of Jack, but make them happy as well. Drake and Chase are 2 hotties who like to make the ladies happy. They are unhappy with their nightly romps in the sack and are both on the search for something more meaningful when they meet up with Sophie and Ana. Sophie likes Chase...Chase likes Sophie, but Sophie refuses to open up to Chase because of the guilty she feels about being able to move on from Jack. Chase knows nothing of Jack except that Jack broke her heart and he doesn't like him. Not telling Chase the details of the situation causes so many problems at one point that Sophie loses her shit and I think possibly her mind for a while. Chase's ex doesn't make it easy for Sophie either. Drake and Ana hit it off so fast that I swear she never gave him back his penis! Seriously though they are perfect together. Drake has probs dealing with Ana's serious commitment issues. But hey, I'd have issues to if I had her past.

I loved the characters. Sophie was easy to love, but after a minute I wanted to scream at her your issues are with yourself not with Chase! You know he loves you! Just shut up already and quit feeling guilty! Chase, oh dear lordy sexy hawt Chase. Did I say sey hawt? He's sexy hawt! His personality is to die for, and how any woman can do him the way he was done is beyond me! Drake, just as yummy but waaaaaaay more serious of a guy. Him and Ana perfect for each other. I love the interaction between all the characters. I love all the pov's.

What I didn't like is how long the book was. Lordy, lordy! At first I thought my kindle was broken because my percent wasn't increasing. It took me days to read this bad nasty. Because of how long it was and just how much story line and plot it had I felt like it took away from the impact of each separate story line that was there. This could've been 2 separate books that with a touch bit more love could've easily been 5 star books each! Too much going on regardless how good of a story takes away the impact. It's like each story line is battling to one up the other.

I so can't wait to tear into The Choice! Thank you to the ladies who said that I needed to read this book! <3

I was lucky enough to be a beta reader on this book. I absolutely loved it!This story comes from multiple characters points of views which sometimes is very hard to follow, but Kate does an amazing job of putting a great amount of detail into each character so you as the reader really feel that you know them, feel their pain, and keeps you intrigued the whole time! Without giving any spoilers I will just tell you that this book has 3 very hot and steamy men that you do not want to miss! It is a definite must read!! <3

My first Kate Benson book and it will not be my last!! This book was amazing!! The characters are great, I absolutely fell in love with Sophie. This story will take you threw a gambit of emotions, but definitely be prepared to have your heart ripped out....but don't let that detour you because it's a beautiful story.

So I must start out by saying this book was AMAZING, It had my attention from the first chapter and I couldn't put the book down! I was sooo excited to meet Drake and to fall in love with him what I didn't expect was to meet Chase and fall even harder for him! This book had me on a roller-coaster ride of emotions between the laughter and the tears. I love how the story shows you a little of both Sophie and Ana's lives together and apart, then it mixed in Chase and Drakes lives and it was like a book from everyone's point of views! The only way I can compare this book is like to the way you feel when you eat a cupcake! The sensation you feel when the cupcake hits your mouth, well that is how my head felt... it EXPLODED at the end!! Kate Benson is a great writer and I can not wait for book 2 to come out!

This story will rip your heart out, mend it, and rip it out again. But honestly...I LOVED IT!!! To feel the pain of loss from Sophie's point of view, cuts you to the core with the love they shared. She is sweet and shy and very broken. She was made a Promise. Promise that wouldn't ever come.

Sophie and Ana try to move on in a new city, new jobs, new home. Even when they weren't looking for it, they find a pair of cousins that will make any woman *Swoon!*. With a play-list written within the book, you know that music is important to Sophie and the choices are incredible.

Fate has other plans for the foursome of characters and sometimes you can't keep the Promises you make.

Would recommend to any romance reader and am desperately waiting for book 2. Because this one ends and makes you wanna scream-out-LOUD for MORE!!!

Promises and so many of them. A long book and quite drawn out but very very sweet.
Jack in the army and the inevitable happens to him. Leaving behind his girlfriend Sophie and sister Ana both broken hearted. Sophie even more so having lived with him for four years and planning a life together.
They both promised Jack if anything happened to him they would look after each other and move on. So that's what they do moving from Camden to Rockport. Soon they meet the gorgeous Drake and Chase both forming loving relationships. Sophie finds it hard to open up to Chase about Jack but finally telling him and the story start to build on there relationship. Both Drake and Ana and Chase and Sophie having troubles thrown at them.
An enjoyable read but too long and drawn out for me. I will still read book 2 though got to see how the drama works out.

Oh my where do I start with this review!! First off it will take you through every emotion that you can imagine multiple times!!! It has 4 different pov's you get to know Sophie, Ana,Chase and Drake. And I really like that you get there pov's you really get a sense of how they feel and what they are going through. And I'll give you fair warning thus book leaves you in a cliffhanger but lord have mercy it's so worth it!!! This is the first book I have read by Kate Benson and I was actually worried at first when I saw how long it was. Just because was it going to keep me interested and let me tell you I was totally engrossed. Kate definitely knows how to weave words and keep you so interested that you are hanging on every word that she is writing and can't stop until every word is devoured. I cannot wait to read the next book. And I highly recommend this book!

The Promise is a great book. This is Kate Benson's first book and it's absolutely wonderful. At some points you'll need tissues at other time you will find yourself laughing out loud. It's over 500 pages and at first that many pages scared me. The Promise keep me interested and I never lost interest in the story.

In The Promise we get 4 POVs. We get Sophie, Ana, Chase, and Drake's stories. I like that we got the four main characters story in one book. The characters were well written. I loved all the characters expect Lauren. She was well written but she's evil.

The ending was crazy cliffhanger. I never excepted it to end that way. I can't wait to read more. I hope Kate writes fast because I want more now.

Kate Benson is a new author and has fantastic talent for writing. I was honoured to be asked if I could beta read for Kate in exchange for my honest review.
The Promise is a totally outstanding romance novel based around two couples. The story will have you gripped from start till finish. Be prepared to have an emotional roller coaster ride. I had trouble putting the book down once I started. Once you start to read you become very attached to the characters and feel their happiness and sadness. The Promise is excellently written and a must read. I look forward to more of Kate's books in the future.

I thought I was between 3-4 stars, 3 stars, however, why? It annoyed me that Sophie could not say Chase the truth about Jack's death, I really felt sorry for him and I did not understood why all of this, especially she was with him in a relationship. I understood her pain, I even cried, maybe because I was in the ninth month of pregnancy, and these hormones, and my husband is in Afghanistan, you know ..... and I have so loved Jack, but still all that hiding it did not make any sense, especially after the nightmare as seen chase, it drove me crazy and I stopped reading the book several times but I kept doing it as everyone highly commended....
However, I elected to read the second part.

I had no idea what I was getting into with this one. I previously read a series from Kate and wanted to read the rest of her books. Holy cow was I not prepared for this one. Let me tell you have tissues handle because you will cry. Ugly tears. This book is full of emotions from beginning to end. It is a nonstop page turning emotional book filled with one amazing storyline. I absolutely love the characters and the story that they are telling. The way that Kate tells this story brings you into the story and has you feeling each and every emotion.
Sophie and Ana are dealing with quite the lose. They are moving and trying to start over. But sometimes that is not so easy. They get to the new city and instantly meet 2 amazing guys Chase and Drake. Drake and Ana hit it off instantly and seem to get along with no issues. Ana is still dealing with her lose but she deals with it a little better than Sophie.
Sophie tries to have a relationship with Chase. But her past is holding her back. She is dealing with something that no one should have to ever deal with. She doesn't know how to feel about Chase or the feelings she is dealing with when it comes to her past. But when reading Sophie's parts in this book you feel every single emotion. Your heart knows exactly what she is going through. You want to climb into the book and hug her.
Will Sophie be able to deal with the past and give Chase a chance? Will she be able to deal with Chase's past?
I absolutely loved this book. I love the characters. How strong they are, how emotional they are and how well the storyline was told. This is a series and I cant wait to see what happens between these 4.
A great beginning to what I assume is going to be a great series.

This was a HOLY. SHIT. Mouth wide open kind of read! The full 5 stars for The Promise.

The Promise starts off with Sophie & Ana packing up and moving on with things. What things you have no idea you just get the hint that 'Jack' AKA Ana's brother/Sophie's Fiancé is no longer with us (may he rest in peace).
Sophie is very broken, you can see this from the beginning. When Jack died he took a part of Sophie with him. They were high school sweethearts, having spent years with Jack Sophie has never known what it's like to be with anyone else, how is she suppose to move on?
Ana is left to pick up the pieces and keep herself strong for Sophie's sake.
Both made the same promise to Jack, they are to keep make sure eachother is happy. Ana has a logic behind moving. Sophie can never move on with her life all the time she is living in Jack's house, sleeping in Jack's bed & driving Jack's car.

Upon arriving in the new town they will call 'home' Ana settles in quickly, almost starting a job straight away. Sophie doesn't have as much luck. One fateful nights Sophie pops into Ana's place of work to drop something off and never did she think this one night could change her whole life. Ana & Sophie both meet new men, who happen to be cousins. Hot cousins!
Ana has been looking for a new man for a while and Drake happens to fit her perfectly. Sophie never knew what she wanted until it was put right in front of her, never did she think she would fee something for someone ever again having lost Jack but Chase, Chase made her feel things she never thought she would feel again.

Ana & Drake quickly fall into a comfortable relationship, this mean Chase is around the house a lot. Sophie and Chase grow closer but remain good friends but that's not from Chase's lack of trying. Chase doesn't know about Jack but he knows Sophie has been hurt by her ex and isn't able to open to him fully. Sophie is becoming more and more uncomfortable with the way she feels about Chase. Is it too soon to feel something for someone else after losing the one you love?

Fast forward a little while and Sophie finally opens up to Ana about how she feels about Chase. Ana knows Chase is a good guy and tells Sophie to go for it. Sophie and Chase start a relationship and are getting along wonderfully that is until Lauren makes and appearance. Lauren is the ex Chase wants to forget, she brings nothing but hassle and trouble to the new found relationship between Sophie & Chase.

Apart from Lauren and her troublesome ways Chase & Sophie have a pretty solid relationship, although Chase knows there are somethings Sophie isn't telling him he is okay with that. Its only when Chase see's Sophie with some guy and goes all jealous boyfriend on her arse that Sophie accdiently blurts out that Jack is actually dead! Chase is shocked to his core, he didn't see this coming. It explains a lot! After getting his girl back where she belongs things are great, never been better. Nomore secrets between them and no more trouble, but lets be serious there is always trouble hiding somewhere.

Just when you think Lauren has got the picture and Sophie will finally get her happy ending tragedy strikes!!!

Will Sophie ever forgive Chase?
Will Chase be ok?
Will Lauren get what is going to her?
Will Sophie ever open up to Chase about Jack?

This book killed me. I felt so bad for Sophie, and Chase. Chase didn't do anything to deserve the way Sophie left BUT I get why she did. She's fragile, her heart is weak she is protecting herself from getting herself hurt all over again. Chase is slowly picking up the pieces and mending her broken heart but will he ever be enough? Will he ever take Jack's place in Sophie's heart?

I loved the duel point of view this book gave. It showed such a range of emotions, aspects and views. How Sophie thought Ana was dealing with her brothers death and how she was actually dealing with things is just one example of how the duel point of view worked. I was so glad to have all three books ready and waiting to be read! I don't think I could've waited with that cliff hanger.

There was lots of steam and lots of emotion. I was feeling a turn of feelings with all the characters. The relationships between all the main characters were amazing. It did tend to go on a bit long for my liking and I found myself forcing myself to finish a couple of times, but I'm glad I did, as it was a good be. Be prepared for a cliffhanger too. This book was gifted to me by Just Raving Mad Reviewers at my request.

I am so glad I finally got around to reading this! I had it forever it seemed in my TBR but with the upcoming release of The Choice (book two) I had to read this first!I was on one FREAKIN emotional rollercoaster with this book! I cried, laughed and even wanted to slug someone. The book is written from 4 POV's which makes it interesting as once finished with ones description we get the other side and sometimes the other side isn't pretty.

Sophie was young when love first struck and when love was tragically ripped away. Having lost her love, Jack, Sophie must now move on after his death and embrace that he is not coming back. Ana, Jack's sister, feels one of the steps necessary to move on is to move out of the place they called home and away from Jack's hometown.

What was waiting for them as they took this journey together was a whole lot of "wow". Not long after moving they meet two guys that turn each of their worlds upside down. Drake and Chase. Let me tell you these two are HOT!! Their slight dominance and yet soft and gentle manners are the perfect combination. I swear their voices came out of the pages a few times and I swooned!

Drake and Ana are amazing and the chemistry is primal! I loved Ana's smart mouth and wit along with Drakes confidence. They have a story of their own building along with Sophie and Chase, but it's in the shadows. Sophie's struggle through her past, Jack's death, memories, and her own emotions are ROUGH! I mean I can not think of anything better than grabbing a bottle to deal with some of what she had to deal with in this book. There were many times I was speechless and emotional exhausted. I had to take breaks and center myself before I moved on in some cases! Chase is amazing! I love his patience and understanding more than anything. Yes he has muscles, tattoos and slick moves but his heart is simply breathtaking.

There is A LOT going on in this book! So get ready for an intense and in depth read but you will want to 'one click' The Choice (book two) VERY soon after!

*I received an ARC of this title at my request and have voluntarily provided this honest review*

This was my first book by Kate Benson and I was so in love with this book I can’t wait to read the rest of the series now. Her writing is amazing and the characters we met in book one, The Promise, will pull you in from the beginning and tug at your heart!

In The Promise, we follow four characters and get four points of view throughout the book. I for one wasn’t sure if I was going to get lost in the amount of characters going on, but found it quick to catch on and loved the format pretty quick into their story. We first meet Sophie and Annalise. They are roommates leaving town and headed on to a new adventure after Sophie’s boyfriend/Ana’s brother, passes away. They need a change of scenery and to try to move on and they have become so close they want to do it together. When Ana meets the very attractive and charming Drake, it’s only a matter of time before his cousin, Chase, meets Sophie. Drake and Ana’s relationship takes off QUICK and I loved it! The two are an amazing pair and throughout the story I just fell in love with them even more. Although the MAIN characters of the story are Chase and Sophie, we get a lot of the other two as well, and it’s a fun mix in! From the moment Chase spots Sophie he immediately is drawn to her in a way he hasn’t been before. She is hesitant to allow him to pursue her as she is still fresh from loosing Jack, the love of her life. Many things happen after that point that are predictable as with any romance, but there are so many twists in this story alone, I can’t wait to read the others in this series now! I hope we get more of Anna and Drake’s story as well. I can’t wait to see what happens to them past the point The Promise leaves off, and I am so glad I found Kate Benson as an author! Bravo!

OH...MY...GOD!

This book is by far much more than I expected (that's not saying I wasn't expecting it to be good or anything). From the beginning, I couldn't feel anything but the raw emotions Sophie was feeling. Sophie is such an inspiring character with how she speaks her mind, loves with all she has, and drives that truck like the badass she is! Ana is the best friend everyone wants in their lives, with how blunt and honest she is with everyone. Then, there's Chase and Drake... where do I even begin! They are the image of perfect by far, with how blunt they are with the girls, Chase with how sweet he is, Drake with from the first moment you meet him at the gas station, you just know the perfection about to come from it. Then, there's Lauren... oh Lauren. You didn't stand a chance. In the bar scene, I knew what was coming and couldn't help but cheer for Sophie! Is that horrible of me? Haha. This book kept it's grip on me, the whole way through and I never wanted to put it down, which is saying a lot because the last few books I've started reading I couldn't get very far. These characters have a strong hold on my heart and I can't wait to read more. If you get the chance to read this series, DO IT! Don't hesitate, just buy it, get some comfy clothes on (because you won't be getting up for a while), and enjoy the beauty of this book.

I have to confess, I've been in a bit of a book slump recently. Not because I don't have a ton a great books waiting, I just haven't been in the right mood. I started this book not expecting to feel much. This was just what I needed! I really have no words! I'm just...in love! Frustrated! Sad! Oh the tears! It's been a while since a book had me ugly crying. I think I cried more than not throughout this one. And, I may or may not have thrown my kindle across the room (disclaimer - no I didn't really, but boy did I want to!)

I feel I should warn you there is an ending that might be considered a little cliffy (HA!) But, I'm ok because the next one is out. So, no waiting. I can handle those cliffs!

I loved Sophie and Ana! Loved the bond and strength these "sisters" gave each other. Sisters by choice/circumstance and not blood. Heartbroken to the extreme and now trying to find a way to move on, I can definitely relate. The walls Sophie put up almost seemed like a page right from my life. I was completely enthralled! Loved the flow, the present/past, how the full story just came together! Can't wait to keep reading with the next one! Amazing (wish I had a stronger word) start to what I know will be a great series!!

I received an ARC of this title at my request and have voluntarily provided this honest review.

Wow - this book will break your heart but fix it all at the same time. You will come to love the characters - their personalities, perseverance, and craziness. You'll cheer with them, cry for them, and hope for them. And do it all over again.

Sophie had a hard life growing up. Her father died when she was young, her mother turned to alcohol, and Sophie had to move in with her aunt. But that's where things started to change. She met Jack - the love of her life, and Ana, Jack's sister. She had a new family - one that loved her for her. Until heartache struck again and Sophie and Ana needed to figure out how to move on without Jack, how to survive.

Drake and Chase are best friends, cousins, and co-workers. And now they're interested in Ana and Sophie - best friends who just moved to town. The only problem - both ladies have baggage they're not ready to share... As Drake and Ana build their relationship, Sophie tries to decide if she can afford to let Chase in - or is her heart too fragile to stand any more pain.

The Promise is a great read - but be prepared for the cliffhanger at the end (get the 2nd book - you'll want it!!)
