Sophie is thrilled when she lands her dream internship with Wall Street firm Carey and Uhlmann.
After a steamy encounter with a stranger in a bathroom, Sophie has no idea her life is about to change. The stranger was Alex Carey, billionaire head of the company, and he wants Sophie.
Will she give in to his dominating nature, or will she push away from the charming man?
Who in their right mind would be turned on by being called slut!? Maybe she is a slut for allowing some random guy finger her in an public restroom. Believe me I'm not a prude, but Seriously this story just didn't make any sense in my world.
I'm thinking about reading the next book to see if I will be as disappointed as this one. But that would probably be a waste of money, because she will fall in love with the billionaire jerk, he will break her heart and they will end up together again and live happily ever after
It was alright. Not really sure of a good word to describ it, Maybe Floaty? It is pretty much based on Sex. First in a public restroom then On her desk at the office then during her interview. I will read the next book in the series just to see how it turns out. But there wasn't any story between the sex seans. Oh well it was free from Amazon for my Kindle so it was worth a shot.
This was an odd book. The writing style reminded me of a middle school student book report, and the character development was...well, it wasn't. We are told that this small town girl who goes to a small local college ends up with a top notch NYC internship, next to Harvard Grads. Then that the head of firm has his way with her, hires her as his, ahem, assistant. That this small town no life experience child girl is suddenly a world woman with no qualms about it? Really? We have no idea about the Boss, other than he is horny. Don't waste your time.
First of all,I didn't like the writing style AT ALL! And the characters ... Ugh! Sophie is basically a doormat ... And I didn't care for Alex one bit...
Plus hello sexual harassment ...
I mean there is dominating and then there is this ... book !
I'll admit at first what drew me is the cover and then I thought the blurb had potential,so I guess it's true ... You really shouldn't judge a book by it's cover
This book is not very well written. It's kind of horrible actually. Alex is very disrespectful and demeaning. I've never read a book about a dominant that was as bad as he is. Sophie is a freaking idiot!!! Thank god this book was free because if I had spent money on it I would be very mad. I think it goes without saying that I won't be investing in the sequel.
I did not care for how Alex treated Sophie! No girl should get turned on by being spoken down to. Dominated sure, that completely sexy, but it is NEVER sexy to hear a man calling a woman crude names.
So for starters, a friend of mine begged me to read this book and when I saw it was free, i decided to download it. Because it was a quick read, I started right away. THIS IS AN HONEST REVIEW. Turns out my friend wanted to laugh at my comments and that's why she asked me to read it.
There is so much wrong with this book, it's implausible to have such a bad book published.
**SPOILERS A LOT OF SPOILERS**
So first off, for you to thoroughly understand how badly written this book was, here's the first paragraph:
Sophie hadn't had the easiest start to life. Her mother did her best after her father walked out on them when Sophie was three, but life as a single mother had been difficult. She worked two jobs to make ends meet, and knew that she hadn't been there for Sophie as often as she would have liked. Still, despite her mother wishing she could have been there more often, Sophie hadn't been a bad kid. She didn't hang out with the wrong crown, but she wasn't an A student either. Quite simply put, she was an average, small-town girl who expected to live an average, small-town girl's life. She got good enough grades, and when she graduated from high school got a job as a waitress at the local diner along the highway. She made ends meet, and figured she'd be there for a good chunk of her life.
Yeah, this first paragraph is SO enticing i just couldn't imagine not reading it. *dripping with sarcasm (or as Ms. Jaye would put it, Sarcasm juices)*
This whole story, plot, is so out of control and ludicrous that it's HILARIOUS. I was reading this to a couple of friends and we couldn't stop laughing.
So the basis of the story is that Sophie, the girl mentioned as small-town above, moves to New York City because after a trip to the Big Apple, she fell in love and decided to get a college degree. Now the author keeps reminding us that although she's not the best in her class, she works really hard. "She wasn't at the top of her class, but Sophie was very easily one of the better students in her program. She wasn't the smartest person in her class, but she worked extremely hard." Why does the author feel the need to write the same thing over and over again? Beats me.
So she get's a job at "Carey and Ulhman, one of the largest investment banks on Wall Street." And so she moves out right away. She keeps referring to how immaculately dressed everyone is and how they all walk with purpose and confidence and aspires to be like them one day. Anyway, she goes to her first day at work and stresses over how hard it is with a line like, No wonder all the traders always seem so stressed.
NOW ON TO THE DEGRADATION OF FEMALES:
"Her coworkers had mostly been nice. Sophie only thought mostly because of her encounter with one woman, Ellie. Ellie had gone to Harvard or Stanford or one of those places, on her family's dime, and thought she was so much better than the other interns. She was gorgeous, with long blonde hair and a perfect body which she flaunted to all the trader men, who had definitely noticed. She looked down on Sophie, announcing to her that she didn't have to worry, Ellie would soon climb her way up to the ladder here at the company, and that soon Sophie would be considered pretty, compared to everyone else on the floor at least."
I wish I were making this up. It's like a teenager was given an assignment to write an erotic story that made fun of it but in the form of satire. Is this high school? There's the popular bitch that looks down on everyone. Why can't a female that's beautiful with a good education be nice and not throw herself in cat fights? Is it too unbelievable? More unbelievable then the other shit that pursues?
So at lunch time she goes to this little cafe and sees a man there which she describes as "His skin was light, but not pale." So their eyes meet and "Sophie's heart skipped a beat as she looked at the man who'd caught her eye. She felt a tingling in between her thighs." Oh yeah ladies, attention men: all you got to do is meet our eyes and be attractive and we'll be aroused within seconds. So she smiles at him and when she looks back, he's gone.
Although the author puts in italics what were all thinking like, "You're not a teenager anymore Sophie...you know better than to get turned on by a man just looking at you in the street." The character Sophie doesn't pay any attention because she goes back to doing whatever she wants so what's the point.
So she keeps seeing this mysterious man and smiles at him until one day he doesn't show and she drops a tomato onto her suit. She rushes to the bathroom of the cafe to clean up and gets the stain off "leaving no hint as to Sophie's adventure with the tomato." *sigh* NOW READY FOR SOME MORE FEMALE DEGRADNG? The man shows up behind her in the bathroom, tells her to go stand by the sink and spread her legs. Sophie, shocked at what the hell this stranger wants from her stands still and the man slaps her backside demanding her to do as he says. AND SHE OBEYS HIM. So he fingers her or as he book put it, "She moaned as he thrust his fingers in and out of her, her body clenching around his digits as they slid in and out of her channel."
Then he made her lick his fingers clean with the romantic words, "Go on slut, taste your cum."
She doesn't see him for a couple of months after that until she has to work in the office late at night. He finds her, they're both surprised that they work in the same building. Turns out he's Alex Carey, of Carey and Ulhman. So he makes her strip and tells her to suck him off. THEN commands her to finger herself while doing so. This part gets even worse but I won't even get into it.
He tells her to sign up for the position of his executive assistant and makes her strip during the interview where he again screws her.
ALL IN ALL she accepts the position as assistant but she makes sure we know it's not for the 6 digit salary because even if she were an intern she'd take the job if it meant he'd f*ck her.
So class I hope we all learned about woman value and what we came on this Earth to do. Apparently it's only to please rich men and be called sluts!! Love it. THANK GOD THIS WAS FREE WOULDN'T PAY A CENT. This review may seem harsh but this book really infuriated me. For a female to degrade other females like that. It's unbelievable. And just when we thought only men were misogynists.
I went back and forth between giving this book 2 1/2 and 3 stars. I had some conflicting emotions with this story. First off, I find it hard to believe that Sophie would let a complete stranger corner her in a bathroom and call her a slut and let him bring her to orgasm. His behavior towards her was demeaning. Now I know some women like that sort of thing and I'm not knocking it, but if I had a little more background on Sophie, maybe I could have understood her actions better. She attributed her submission to her overwhelming desire for Alex but that was just too unbelievable since he was a stranger. More character development was needed for both characters, especially Alex. The other problem I had was that Sophie was willing to accept her new position at work, knowing she wouldn't be actually using the skills she acquired from her recent schooling, but she would actually be Alex's personal walking, talking vagina. How could someone be OK with that? If their sexual relationship was outside of the office or if Alex actually took her seriously during work hours and treated her as a professional, I would have also been OK with that. There were some jaw dropping moments I enjoyed, which caught me completely off guard, in a good way, but it just wasn't enough for me. I think this story has potential, but I think the author went about the plot in the wrong way. Alex doesn't even seem like he likes Sophie. I would like to learn more about these characters and I'm hoping that they come to life in the next book, but I'm not so sure I want to pay $2.99 for a 30 page book. I think that's very expensive for such a short story. For a freebie, this was so-so, but again, it has potential.
I love a good, sexy story. This is not a biography! I read some of these reviews and these people are too judgey. They meet "Some Enchanted Evening" style when their eyes meet across a crowded room at lunch time. Sophie gets all worked up just looking at him and blushes like crazy. They exchange dom/sub energy. Don't judge. She comes back to the cafe the next day looking for him and he comes back looking for her. After several days, he follows her to the bathroom and gives her a Dom trial. Any hot, Alpha male is welcome to call me a slut with my panties down. Talk dirty to ME, please Alex Carey. I was thoroughly entertained. I especially loved the secret room in his office. Wowza!!
Overall I enjoyed this. I realize that is it a series and these are all shorter stories however, the beginning still felt a bit rushed and almost like it was written for children. It was just so simple and nothing of substance really. Eventually the plot did pick and boy did it ever turn up the heat. It was a bit far-fetched but still a pretty intriguing story. I am curious where it will go from here.
I enjoyed this and it started to hot up only to find it ends and you need the next book. I would say to get every book in the series before starting them so you don't need to hang around. Nice steamy scenes so far but I have a hard time understanding how you would let a complete stranger give you an orgasm and call you a slut without being offended first. Will have to carry on reading the series.
I thought the book was really good. I like books that get to the point. Lust! Every girl has that one guy she is head over hills for and would do anything for. I like that she didn't try to ask all stupid and like she didn't want him. I can't wait to read the next book. lt should have been a little longer but I like the read.
really something else but a good story however I was taken aback how she just went along with the things he wanted to and had her do. She was not part of the lifestyle and probably had no clue. She did things I just could not see a person doing who has lived a sheltered life
Not much of a story...just sex! Sophie starts as a goal on a mission to get herself to NYC! She gets an intern and starts working her way up but then ends up aborting her mission to be a whore instead!
Not much to recommend this except it was free. Oh and if you like sex without plot, you may find this okay, but be warned the writing does not flow well and there are plot holes you could walk through. On the plus side it is short.
I can't even rate it because I dont no how I felt I mean..:I didn't feel anything reading it and I don't think I liked how she dropped everything fr him and..I kinda dont like Alex Carey or how submissive Sophie is..just no.
Free iBook. Uh... Very short. Took all about 20 minutes to read. It just ended. Seems as though it's just an intro into another book. I hate that. Definitely not romance or realistic which is fine.
