Decoding the Mark of the Beast

Rate this book
The mark of the beast . . . what is it? Without opening the Scriptures, people speculate widely about what the mark will a surgically inserted microchip, a voyeuristic microchip in television sets and computers to monitor in-home activities, tattoos of 666. Once people study the Bible and apply the prophetic symbolism to history, the mark of the beast becomes transparent.Opening the Bible to examination and applying the prophecy to history is exactly the approach that Mr. Wohlberg takes in this pocket book. Scripturally he defines the beast, the little horn, and its characteristics (found in both Daniel 7 and Revelation 13). He then focuses on actual historical events as they pertain to the prophecy and Scripture at hand.He does go on to clarify that the mark of the beast has not yet been placed on anyone yet. Nevertheless, the day will come when we need to choose to embrace or reject the mark of the beast.

Well, this is an interesting little book. I appreciated the fact that the author thinks that the mark is not a physical one, and I did not realize the parallels between Revelation and Deuteronomy 11.18. I did not appreciate him identifying the beast of Revelation with the Roman Catholic Church, thereby promoting the sorts of divisions that plague Christianity today. I did appreciate the fact that he laid out the rationale for the position that Sunday worship is the mark of the beast, even though it is nonsense.

I agree - - - and disagree.

While I appreciate Wohlberg's willingness to break tradition with his symbolic explanation of the mark, he stuck to his SDA tradition regarding the Sabbath. This just proves that no single person or denomination (or cult) has a monopoly on understanding God's word. It is our individual responsibility to "search the scriptures daily whether these things are so".

After reading all reviews I offer these comments. Research the traditional "historicist" interpretation of the book of Revelation. This was the common belief for over 1700 years until the early 19th century when the futurist dispensational eschatology was refined and propagated. A good website to begin this study is (revelationtimelinedecoded.com)

Food for thought - - - Rev 13:16 "...he causeth everyone to receive...". Strong's G4160, poieo, shows translations as; do (357x), make (113x), bring forth (14x), commit (9x), cause (9x), etal. As for a physical mark to prevent some from buying or selling, I would suggest we remember the last two crazy years where many merchants would not even let you in their store if you didn't wear a mask. Don't think that the god of this world is not capable of deluding the ignorant masses into voluntarily doing whatever the "leader" tells them to do.

The example of the Roman Catholic beast "changing the times" regarding Sabbath worship is very weak. Others have already covered this issue very well. However research the origins of the Gregorian calendar. That was Pope Gregory, and the reasons for the change are wrought with suspicion.

One reviewer "exonerated" Romanism then "charged" Islam (the Mahdi) as the anti-Christ. Both systems have already played, and continue to play, their significant role in history. Scripture nowhere validates a single person antichrist (with a capital A). Research!

One main point Wohlberg made that I whole heartedly agree with is his reference to Daniel 12:4 and "knowledge increasing". One reviewer made reference to the "Evangelical Holy Bible". "Evangelicals" don't have all the answers either. (Our mainstream "Evangelical Church" aligns historically with the Laodicean Church. Before one hunkers behind this shield for protection, better make sure it's actually cover and not simply concealment. In

As we all study, let's remember the only real issue is that Jesus is the way the truth and the life and no man comes unto the Father except through Him.

Almost totally wrong

There are verses in Revelation which directly contradict his premises. I think it's a case of dishonest scholarship to ignore such examples.
