Ava has watched her parents, Caleb and Maggie, live the perfect fairy tale, the perfect love story, played out in front of her eyes her entire life. Her family is love, life, and happiness. The Jacobsons are everything a family should be and Ava is loved and well taken care of. But the one thing that’s missing from her life is the one thing she’s waited for every day, the one thing her kind knows will make them complete, the one thing they thought was gone and lost forever.
Her significant.
Seth has lived with the Watsons his entire life. They’re the only family he knows, but he knows that there are things they keep from him. He knows that they lie and they do unspeakable evil, things from when he was a child that he can barely remember that cling to the edges of his memory. He barely remembers his real mother and all he knows is what he’s told. He doesn’t know what to trust. He wants to believe that the Watsons love and care for him, have his best interest at heart, but isn’t so sure of that anymore when he finally—after a lifetime of waiting for her—meets his soulmate, and the Watson’s first act is to try to take her away from him.
The Virtuoso worlds collide, hearts are exposed, humans are endangered, and the lives of Seth and Ava are changed forever. They’ll have to love without judgment or reservation, they’ll have to be wise and accepting beyond their years, they’ll have to forgive for things before they’ve even happened, they’ll have to trust without seeing, have faith without knowing, and they’ll have to light their own way in the dark when everyone else is blind to show them the way. And more than anything else…

**Okay, I have just realized there was an issue with my upload and the first rounds of people everywhere (Amazon, iBookstore, Kobo, B&N) who bought Undeniably Chosen got the pre-order "placeholder" version, which was the first unedited draft!!! Ahhhh!!! I'm SO sorry that there was a mix-up. It takes a few days for it to update, and unfortunately, iBooks and Kobo can take up to 10 days. I will upload again everywhere to make sure every venue has the correct copy. I know there are some grammar Nazis out there :) but I really hope that you all enjoyed the story nonetheless and could look past it. I'm so sorry. You should be able to download a new copy if you want to and I'll be getting the paperback version ready in just a few days. I mainly just wanted to let you all know so you knew what happened when you were reading your copies. #SoSorry I hoped there won't/wouldn't be a ton of bad reviews about the editing because of the mix-up, but I'm already seeing some so. So sorry. Like I said - I hope you enjoy the story more than anything.
"Would the Watson boy come to my rescue in the morning and be my knight in shining armor? Or would I begin my new life writhing in pain for days on end because I had dared to reach out and believe that I could always have the life that I was promised?"
Thoughts Before Reading (12/9/13): I'm so excited about this one!!! Caleb and Maggie's daughter... I didn't even know I wanted to read about her, but now I can't imagine it any other way. Plus we still get to see glimpses of Caleb and Maggie. Those teaser chapters Shelly Crane left at the end of Wide Spaces were perfect, and now I will be stalking her until this book is out. I must get my hands on it!!
Thoughts & Feels After Reading: 5+ STARS!! I LOVED IT!!! This book gave me all the feels I was hoping for, all the twists and turns I wished for, and all the love I expected and more. I'm so happy to have this series continue!
Undeniably Chosen is the 6th book of the Significance series, though I think it can also be seen as the first spin-off book of the original series. The first 5 books follow Caleb and Maggie and their love story. But it is more than that. It is a lot of the history and big picture of the Virtuoso world that Caleb and his family, and then Maggie, live in. Consequence, the novella prior to Undeniably Chosen, is the story of Caleb and Maggie married with kids, and ties into the next book. Then Undeniably Chosen is the start of Ava (Caleb and Maggie's daughter) and Seth's (raised by the Watsons) story and the continuing saga of the Virtuoso world. If you are new to the Significance series, you could start with Undeniably Chosen, but you would be missing some big chunks of back-story. But you could also backtrack and start the series afterwards if you fall in love with Seth, Ava, Caleb, and Maggie, like I did.
As for Undeniably Chosen, I completely loved it. This is not a reinvention of Caleb and Maggie's story. No, Ava and Seth have a story all of their own. From their first meeting, to their first confrontation, to their first misunderstanding, to their first kiss, and so much more, I was fully engrossed and entangled in how all their situations and predicaments would play out. I felt like I wanted their HEA as much as they did. But as much as I wanted everything to be perfect, like Ava did, I also loved all the twists and turns and the unpredictability of this story. I liked that I was kept in the dark and guessing how things would turn out. I was just so stinkin' happy to be back in the Virtuoso world, and I loved following along with Seth and Ava's journey.
Speaking of Seth and Ava, I loved them. They were two characters I loved by themselves, then throw them together, and even through all the difficulties, I loved what they brought out of each other. We've got Ava, daughter of Caleb and Maggie, who is sweet and hopeful. She inherited all the good things from her parents, but with her own level of spunkiness. Then she gets matched up with Seth, who is not only a super hot firefighter, but also a sweetheart. Having been raised by the Watsons, though not a Watson himself, he had all the potential to be a terrible person, yet his good heart was able to survive his childhood. I loved getting to know him, and it's no wonder Ava fell for him. Ava and Seth are such a great couple!
In addition to Seth and Ava's love story, and the ever-evolving Virtuoso world, we are also treated to some old favorites and newbies I really want to know more about. Is there more Caleb and Maggie? Yes! I was so happy to see them again, together like always, and with their children. Love them! Rodney, Ava's brother, was great. I love the family dynamic, and I hope to get lots more Rodney in the future. Then there's Ember, Bish and Jen's daughter and Ava and Rodney's cousin. She is a hoot. Bish always had a special place in my heart, so getting a glimpse of him and especially his daughter was a real treat. I really want to see more of Ava's brother and cousins in the future.
Speaking of the future, for some reason, and I don't know where I got this idea from, I didn't think there would be more books after this one. BUT THERE WILL BE!! I'm so excited!!! Don't worry. No big cliff-hanger or anything. You can thoroughly enjoy this one and then patiently await the next. But there will be at least another book. I'm so happy!!! I loved Undeniably Chosen, love the Significance series, and eagerly anticipate anything Shelly Crane wants to stir up and whip together for the future.
“I don’t know if I can even sleep tonight,” I muttered and rubbed at my arms. They were restless. “I can already feel myself twitching.” “Tomorrow…” Dad began, but stopped. He sighed forcefully and tightened his fists. “I’ll go find him and make him come here if he doesn’t come on his own.” “Dad, you didn’t see him. He was…” I bit into my lip hard. Just talking about him was making me ache all over. I closed my eyes and tried to breathe. I heard Mom say, “Baby, I think we need to stop talking about this. It’s just making things worse for her.” “I know, but…maybe I should go over there. Maybe I should try to find him and—you know what? No.” I looked up to find him looking down at me. “I’m not going to do that. It has to be his choice until it’s not. I’ll give him until tomorrow to be the good guy. If he doesn’t, then I’ll go get him and make him. I can tell by looking at you that you want to have faith in him.” “You didn’t see him, Dad,” I reiterated. “He wanted this. He was worried about me. He’ll come. He’ll find me.” I hoped. “If what you said is true, then he didn’t choose any of what happened. He’s not a Watson.” “But he’s lived with them his whole life,” Mom reasoned. “We have no idea the things they’ve done to him, the things they’ve made him do. We have to be cautious. You have to cautious.” She went into the kitchen and I heard a pill bottle shake before she came back. “Here. Take these. They’ll help you sleep tonight. They were Grans,” she said softly. I ached as the pills went down. I heard Rodney coming in the back door loudly. Dad went right to him and put his hand on his chest to stop him. They whispered back and forth and Rodney looked at me over Dad’s shoulder. Dad wasn’t going to be able to stop him. He didn’t know that, but I did. “Come on, Dad,” Rodney said gruffly and looked at him right in his face. “Move.” He pushed his Champion gently in the shoulder and I watched Dad’s stunned face as he watched Rodney come and sweep me up in his big brotherly arms on the couch. He said low in my ear, but I knew that they still could hear, “Tell me who I have to hurt. Who is this guy and why isn’t he here with you right now?” I looked at Dad and he looked so amused and bemused all at once. He waved me on and leaned his hip against the counter, pulling Mom into the ‘v’ of his legs so he could wrap his arms around her from behind. I heard her so sigh loud and hated that I was causing them so much distress. “Seth,” I explained. “Seth Watson,” I said with as much gumption as I could muster. His eyes rounded. I told him everything and he tightened his arms on me as he listened. “Okay,” he said and kicked his shoes off the end of the couch. Mom was two seconds from scolding him when he asked, “So where is he? He should be here.” Like fate usually worked, there was a knock on the front door. An insistent knock. Dad shot me a look before taking a loaded breath. I started to shake and stood from the couch quickly. It was him; I knew it like I knew my own name. “Ava, wait,” he told me. “Dad.” “You, sit,” he said in his Champion voice. “I’ll answer and let him in. What if the Watsons were planning something and knew you’d run to the door to answer it thinking it was him? We know nothing about him yet. Until we do, we go at this with caution.” I sighed. I hated that I had to look at my significant with anything but reverence, but Daddy was right. I mean, I was the one that had run right out of the coffee shop this afternoon. “I mean it, baby girl,” he said softly. Rodney turned me to look at him and held my upper arms in his hands. “If he hurts you, I can’t be held accountable for what I do.” “I love you, you know that?” I replied and kissed his cheek. I tried to smile, but think I failed epically when he put one arm around my shoulders and tugged me close, as if to shield me from whatever or whoever was coming. Dad had to know I was anxious—he didn’t make me wait. He went to the door quickly. I could hear them in the other room with deep, urgent tones. My significant. And then there he was.
Ok so I guess I'm gonna be that one person who didn't seem to enjoy this book as much.
Seth really needed to do a lot in my eyes to make me like him as a character and as a significant for Ava. In the end I did like him better, but he wasn't uh-mazing in my eyes. I mean it's hard to like him when you have fucking Caleb Jacobson to compare him to. Now he is swoon worthy.
I, personally, didn't feel the true love between Seth and Ava. Everything seemed very forced, which technically it is.
Seth had a lot of these family emergencies that he had to attend at night breaking a few promises that he made to Ava. and what sucks is that this imprint just doesn't allow you to stay mad at your significant for a long time, it's like physically impossible. I felt that Seth's actions seriously deserved some of Ava's wrath, but because of the imprint, she just can't.
I was also a tad bit confused with a couple scenes. Well I don't really understand how Seth is an echoling when he wasn't even imprinted. I don't really know what their powers are. Is Ava a human vacuum or something? What's Seth? Not sure if it was mentioned, but I would also like to know what Maria's power was since she is also now imprinted. ** I may have possibly skipped that part while reading, and not noticed, if there are answers to these questions please comment them :)
I understand that it's hard to follow up such a popular series with a new book, but this one just wasn't really what I was expecting. That doesn't mean I'll stop reading the series though. I fell in love with the characters in the first 4 books, and look forward to reading about them again in the future.
5++++++ stars Where do I begin? Let me start off by saying, before I read Shelly's Significance series, I have never read a paranormal book in my life. After I read the first book, Significance, I then proceed to read the rest of the series in one weekend. One Weekend.... Mother's Day weekend!! I fell in love with this series from the start and I was shocked because I didn't think this was going to be the book for me. Now I am borderline obsessed with them as well as the author, Shelly Crane.
I got myself a copy of Undeniably Chosen, and started it within minutes of it showing up on my kindle. I stupidly thought I could stay up all night and read it. Boy, did I try, but at over 500 pages, there was no way!! I didn't do much for 2 days but eat and read this book. I could not put it down.
Undeniably Chosen is the story of Caleb and Maggie's daughter, Ava. Ava is all grown up now. She is enrolled in college and studying to be a architect like her grandfather. Av is a smart, level headed women with good values and strong ties to her family (which means that there is a lot of Caleb and Maggie as well as other favorite characters from the series). The Jacobsons are still living pretty decent lives. Things have been calm with no trouble in years from the Watsons.
Ava has been waiting and hoping for her significant to come into her life for a while. She sees how happy her parents and family members are in their relationships, she she wishes for what they have. One day, she was running late and is at a local coffee shop when she bumps into Seth who happens to be at the same coffee shop early. They both feel a pull towards each other. Ava is not sure what to think because she has never seen Seth at any reunifications. He may not be anything more than a hot human guy hitting on her. That is, until Seth briefly touches Ava's ear and then their visions played out. They could see their future together. Ava is thrilled.... until she realizes Seth is a Watson. Now he fate seems to be doomed. A Watson and Jacobson union could never work.
The Watsons and the Jacbsons have been at war for years. They blame the Jacobson for their demise and losing their powers. After all, it was the Jacobsons who took the power away from the Watson clan after what they did to Maggie.
Poor Ava is not sure what she is suppose to do. Now that she finds out her significant in a Watson. Is this a trap set up to destroy her family? Or is he really her significant. At first Ava runs away from Seth as soon as she figures who he is it out. She doesn't know what to do. You can't really blame her. She has been taught all her life that the Watsons are horrible people who will stop at nothing to get what they want.
Seth, right from the start he is not your typical Watson (it could be because he was adopted by them and not blood related). He is a stand up guy being pulled in 2 directions. One, he feels loyalty towards the family who raised him. The second, to his significant and what she is going through mentally and physically.
Seth is not like the other Watsons at all. He has ventured out to become what he wanted to be, a fireman, and saves people for a living. He lives on his own and has little contact with his family. That is until they learn about who his significant is. Now the pot has been stirred and no one on either side knows what to believe anymore.
Just like her parents, Ava is going to have struggle when it comes to her significant and all the challenges that lay ahead of them in life. This was a roller coaser of a beginning for the new couple. I say that because their story is far from over.
Lines have been drawn and battles are about to take place. No one blames Seth or Ava. This has been a long time in the making. War is near and everyone has to be ready.
I can not wit for the next book. As much as I loved Maggie and Caleb, I think I may love Ava and Seth more. Seth.... of Seth is one of the best ever. Significant or human, he is a great book boyfriend. Shelly Crane has definitely done it again!!! 5 +++++ stars!!!
I received an ARC of Undeniably Chosen........ Three words......HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!! Seth is a fireman who can put out the flames at my house anytime!!!!! This epic love of Eva and Seth kept me on the edge of my seat and turning those pages. I lost sleep and did not complain one little bit. I loved all the characters in this book. Some I have loved for a long time. Yes, Maggie and Caleb are in it too. Squee!!!! I could never get enough of those two. Seth may just be my new favorite book boy friend!!!!Many secrets from long ago when Maggie was kidnapped get revealed and things are brought into the light that have been hidden deep in the darkness. Many things are too hot to handle. You do not want to miss this book, Significance fans! I do not want to give anything away. It is a must read.
"The love one feels for his significant is bigger than the ocean, deeper than any well, more powerful than any storm."
I was waiting for years to read this book and Ι finally finished it. Now I have to wait more for the second book and it kills me.
I loved every single word, every phrase and all the characters, even the villains. Shelly Crane just knows how to make you feel that way.
I really can't review this book the right way because there are no words to express how I feel right now. I'll just say that Ava and Seth were almost as perfect as Maggie and Caleb. Ava is her parents' daughter after all. I wasn't expecting nothing less from her and her Significant. Seth was really awesome and a perfect match for Ava obviously and he sent me these vibes that had me fall for him almost the same way I fell for Caleb. Well Caleb was my insta-love but Seth did a great job as well.
"There was no oil and water, no Watsons and Jacobsons, no Romeo and Juliet. Just Seth and Ava."
Also, I thought that the "Romeo and Juliet love" that Seth and Ava experienced was going to be boring and all the same but it was actually better than I even hoped. The fact that there was no insta-love was even better but when the love came later in the book just blew my freaking mind.
"I wondered if Romeo and Juliet had been brought to life if this is what they would have felt. Betrayed, torn, confused, alone even when the person you're supposed to be with is right in front of you."
I wish all humans could love with all their hearts, minds and souls. I wish all humans were so eager to protect their soulmates. I wish all humans could understand each other the way significants do, but I guess that would be too perfect, right? I wish my boyfriend was also my significant so that I would be able to feel his heart in my chest. Sometimes I catch myself trying to listen to his heartbeat when we sleep and I imagine that I could hear it through my own chest. It's just so... wonderful.
I need to see more from Rodney and I hope that in the next books there will be more imprintings. Also I loved how Maggie and Caleb were a big part of this book and I loved them even more now that I've seen how they still adore each other, maybe more than they used to. I am so in love with their love and I even cried so hard when their names were mentioned for the first time. I cried like a freaking baby.
"I had watched my parents for what seemed like centuries. The way they existed so effortessly in each other's world and space. They could go minutes without looking away from each other. They kissed constantly. They hugged all the time, stole touches and wrapped their fingers around the other's wrist. I knew it was to feel their calm, to be wrapped in the little bit of bliss that their touch provided."
As you can already guess this is an "absolutely-must-read book". If you haven't read Significance already just stop what you're doing and read it. Now. go!
(I have to say this in case Shelly reads this review. There were a couple of editing errors in the copy I bought. They were hard not to notice sometimes and they were in all over the book. I'm not saying this to offend anyone but it made me sad, such a wonderful book to have this one little flaw.)
Crane does it again! Every author tends to have a flavor we come back to, over and over, and Crane’s is the sweetness—the soul-wrenching love that drips with purity. Each word is rich in the essence of fate and soul mates coupled with the love of family-clans generations deep.
I fell in love with Seth at the first beat. A strong southern fireman—count me in! This boy’s soul is full of peace and balance. In the heat of every adversity Crane throws at the couple he never misses a step or looses his cool when he has every right to do so. A perfect Significant who rises to the occasion and simmers with swoonworthyness.
Ava has such a young soul. From the first moment she begins to tell her story you know she has led a fairytale life. How could she not with parents such as Caleb and Maggie? Watching how deeply her parents loved had always left her with a longing to find a love just as powerful. Day in and day out she craved her Significant. And as fates would have it the perfect meet cute brought her dreams to life.
The deepest of loves are tested, and seconds after Ava finds her Significant the rollercoaster ride of trials begin. Soul mates raised by warring clans set the stage for immediate distrust. Their young love not only has to overcome their own uncertainty, but also the doubt and demands shrouded over them by their families.
This story leaves you wanting more, yet blissfully satisfied. There is a lesson learned, nothing can divide souls forged in love.
Holy macaroni grill Batman!! I absolutely LOVED Undeniably Chosen!! I seriously could NOT put it down!! I got so mad that work and sleep got in the way of my precious Ava and Seth time!! I stayed up late and woke up early just to finish this AMAZING book!! I have loved the entire Significance series but I have to admit that this book is my absolute FAVORITE out of the whole series so far!! I have been DYING for this to come out and just KNEW that it would be well worth the wait and I was NOT wrong!!
Ava has been waiting her whole life to find her significant. She has dreamed about how it would it be... how she would feel... how happy she would be... and then she imprinted with a Watson. Her first response?! Run... and run she did! Life as she knew it was over... or so she thought... ;)
Seth hasn't had the best life. Even though he has been put through the ringer more times then I could count, he still wanted to see the best in everyone. He was constantly being accused of various things and doubted and just wronged... but that man... he is a SAINT!! He still pushed forward and even defended the Jacobsons who kept accusing him of doing things he did not do! He would always tell Ava... it's okay... they're your family... they're just trying to protect you... I would do the same thing... I understand. Saint I tell ya! He never ONCE gave up!
I loved watching Seth do everything he could to get to know Ava and make her happy. He wanted to show her how much he loved her and how special she was to him. And I loved watching Ava realize that Watson or not Seth is her significant and she would do everything she could to get to know him and make him happy... make him feel loved for the first time in his life!
The first little while after you find your significant is supposed to be special... you're supposed to be happy and enjoy getting to know each other. But in true Shelly style... that just did not happen for Seth and Ava. Once the Jacobsons were finally on board with all things Seth they had to deal with the Watsons. Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire Batman! Evil... plain and simple... they are evil!! And they have someone in their pocket helping them to try and destroy the Jacobsons. *sigh* Can't these poor Jacobsons get a break?!
There were lots of twists and turns that I did not see coming!! And I loved every minute of it!! This was definitely a book worth losing sleep over!! I cannot WAIT to see where Shelly takes us next!! I am totally looking forward to Undeniably Fated!! It's going to be AMAZING!! :)
And are you guys ready for my casting?! Oh my heck!! I just LOVE it!! Aren't they just gorgeous?!?! ;)
I am in super Duper crazy fan of Shelly Crane and I love her significant serious I was very excited about this book and I couldn't wait to read it. I normally don't gripe about books that have typos or misspelled words or a word that doesn't read properly. I know that things happen in editing and sometimes things get messed up or missed but this one had so many that it really took away from the flow of the story. My other problem was with repetition of the story. So much of it was the same. I mean this in descriptive sense of book. Hand movement, neck nuzzling and there was more. It was over and over again. If the author reads my review please know I adore you but something went terribly wrong here. You need better editor and beta readers. The story is sweet overall and I did not revisiting my favorite characters. I won't give up on the series because I am a true fan.
WOW!!!! Truly... 5 gloriously amazing stars!!!! Seth and Ava's love story is truly as epic as it should be... Man!!! This series is PHENOMENAL!!!! More review to come...
Okay, so Seth is a fireman. Yes, ladies. A fireman.
Was he this kind: No. But every time it said he was a firefighter, it ran through my head.
In this book, we see Caleb and Maggie's daughter navigate her life trying to find her significant. When this book started, I really liked it. I really enjoyed it and it seemed to be more mature than the previous books in the series (not in a sexual way, just in general). But the book lost me when Seth and Ava stopped arguing and started actually getting to know one another. Then my interest in Seth vanished. And some of the lines were so cheesy. I mean, come on. It's the 21st Century. Ava said: "Let's watch Dodgeball." Seth said: "No way. You're a girl, you're not supposed to like guy movies." Ava: "Maybe later we'll watch Anchorman." Seth: "You're amazing."
Seriously?
Spoilers below
The part when Ava saved Seth from the fire was cool, but then the other fireman stopped caring about how she knew to come. I mean, sure they would stop caring in a perfect world, but let's get real. They would be looking into that.
And when they had the huge house party and everyone came and they let Seth win at horseshoes. Ava: "OMG, my family never let's anyone win horseshoe against them! They are really trying!"
And then in the end when Ava kept almost dying when Seth wouldn't look at her and he had to explain himself to the entire family. When they revealed what happened in the Watson family. Then when they got married and they moved into the house and how Caleb thinks they should change everything that the Significants have been doing for years because his daughter's significant can't afford a house. Even when all of this was revealed, I just kind of did this:
Now to wait for the next book to be about another couple. It is so convenient that the couples never find their significants in the duration of someone else's book.
Wow! I missed this family so, so much! I love tender love that Shelly adds to each of her stories. I really enjoyed reading about the next generation of Virtuosos, but I think the most exciting thing for me is finding out that this isn't where their story ends...there's more to come!! Thank you for sharing this world with us, Shelly. You allow for beautiful dreams, tender tears, and hope that our boys can be as good as Seth and Caleb and our girls find a man that will love and protect her above all. PS...hurry up with the next book. I'm already having withdrawals. ;-)
I actually just finished the book 2 hours ago and I'm very ecstatic that I can share the experience with you all STRAIGHT AWAY! Woooo!!!
I feel like I just came off a roller coaster ride. I cannot tell you just how many kinds of feelings I had for this book while I was reading it. I think there were more than 10! If you have been following my reviews, you would know that I am a big, big, REALLY REALLY REALLY BIG fan of the SIGNIFICANCE SERIES. However, that does not necessarily mean that I will give any book in the series a perfect five just like that. Oh no, no, no. I personally think that it's a disadvantage because my expectation is SKY HIGH for this book, but then... Gosh, I DON'T EVEN NEED TO LIKE THE ENTIRE SIGNIFICANCE SERIES TO APPRECIATE THIS BOOK!!!! I got more that I expected and then some!!!!
The plot picks up years after the first generation's books. I love how Shelly Crane made it very mysterious and so full fo twists and turns. You think you know something... but nooo you don't! I also love how the author carried on doing what she does best in the series... A Sweet scene one minute then POWER-BLAZING the next! It's full of action as it is full of romance. To me it just had the right blend. You will never feel bored!!!
Now let's talk characters!
AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I CAN'T WAIT FOR Y'ALL TO MEET SETH!!!!
SETH.
JUST SETH. T_____________________T
Your heart will break for him. Then you would love him. Then you would really, really, really LOVE HIM.
How weird is it that I find him hotter than Caleb (the hero from the first generation)? Haha! Soooorrryy Caleb, my Caleb, BUT NOTHING BEATS A FIRE FIGHTER WHO FIGHTS FOR HIS SIGNIFICANT!!!!
Seth may have been raised by the enemy, but he's totally UNLIKE them. I promise you. He's a survivor, a protector, a loving kid who wants his family's approval, but then accepts the fact that he can't have it all. He's humble, he's bashful (at times) AND HE'S SO DAAAAAMMMNNNN SWWEEETT!!! I TELL YOU!!!! What I love best about him is that there wasn't any doubt in his mind about the bonding thing. He was all for it! He loved having a significant and he appreciated it. My heart melted for him because, man.. he really waited and of course, when you wait for something for the longest time, you sure know how to value it. That's him. Every girl's waking dream!
Now onto our girl Ava. BEST GIRL EVER! I could totally feel her frustration with Seth's family, with her family.. with everything that surrounds their situation. Did it let her down? NO! She's my kind of girl because she fought for him! She fought everyone for him. I love it that even though she had her doubts (which were not unfounded, of course with all the history with the Watson) about Seth, she held on. She held on to the most important thing in their life and that's finding each other. Imagine waiting for someone and finding out that it's not your fairy tale. That would suck, but you have to swallow it, smile and deal with what's handed to you. For her, yeah it sucked, but she smiled and made the most out of it. I love it that after everything, she really does appreciate Seth's efforts and is very willing to do the same.
They totally, totally DESERVE EACH OTHER.
If you ask me about the other characters, all I can say is that they have grown. I am so happy for each and every one of them. :)
Ava and Seth. This is about them figuring out where they stand in their world. Finding each other and just living day by day with all the barriers that surrounds their relationship was hard, but the end result it beautiful. JUST PLAIN BEAUTIFUL.
This is a book that I have been waiting for, for a very long time.
I can tell you now,
It was worth the wait. :)
UNDENIABLY WORTH THE WAIT!!!
An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
It was more than just wanting to have somebody, it was like this thing in my body was pulled just a little too tight. Just enough to annoy and bother me, but not enough to be painful. My significant was the only one who could make me feel normal. I knew it. **
From the very beginning I was sucked right back into this wonderful, beautiful world Shelly created a while back. It was fun coming back and visiting with those that have since grown up and started families of their own. Maggie and Caleb are no longer those crazy teens we met in the beginning. They now have children who are grown and finding their Significants. It really is amazing.
So like I mentioned, from the start I was hooked. I love the whole plot of Ava and Seth being one another’s Significants. But the best part of it all is that Seth is a Watson. Oh the agony!! Seriously. These 2 cannot catch a break to save their lives. Everything and everyone it seems, is standing in their way. The obstacles they will face in this story will be ones that could break them and bring their new relationship to an abrupt halt.
** “No one is taking you away from me,” he promised, his voice low and ominous was strangely exactly what I needed in that moment to finish falling over the edge for him. “Are you worth it?” he asked as if it were ludicrous. “Is this worth it? Have I waited my entire life for it? Will I give it up just because it is hard? Just because it’s not given to me so easily?” He shook his head so slowly and leaned forward, pressing his lips to my hair. “Ah, little bird, you are so worth it,” he whispered. **
Their romance is so absolutely breathtaking. Crane once again shows she is a true artist when it comes to crafting a love story so swoonworthy, your heart melts. I 100% adored Seth. Their story reminds me a bit of Maggie and Caleb’s. But also different. So don’t worry about thinking you may be getting the same story under different packaging. So not how it all goes down. In fact, I think you will be quite pleased with it and the direction Crane is taking the series.
Wonderful story, UNDENIABLY CHOSEN is one that is sure to please fans of the SIGNIFICANCE series. 5 Smitten Stars!
Trust that beating in your chest that belongs to her and know that everything happens for a reason. You are where you're supposed to be. Anything worth having is worth fighting for."
It was so nice to be reacquainted with the Jacobson clan. I had missed them so much and I loved getting to know Ava and Seth. This book has all the things I love about Shelly's writing- the sweet romance, the family dynamics, and even the rivalry between the Jacobson and Watson clans. Those pesky Watsons just won't go away and now that one of their own has imprinted with a Jacobson, all bets are off. This what they've been waiting for- a chance for revenge, for redemption and Seth is caught in the crossfire.
Can he be trusted? Where will his loyalties lie? With Ava- his significant, or the family who raised him?
Touching was the easy part, it's everything that comes after that's a challenge for these two. You can't have a relationship without trust but Seth isn't giving up. He will do anything to prove to Ava that he is loyal only to her.
"'Are you worth it?' He asked as if it were ludicrous. 'Is this worth it? Have I waited my entire life for it? Will I give up just because it's hard? Just because it's not given to me so easily?' He shook his head so slowly and leaned forward, pressing his lips to my hair. 'Ah, little bird, you are so worth it.'"
No relationship is easy. They all come with their own trials and challenges, but true love does indeed conquer all. This series makes me want to believe in soul mates, that a love like that can exist in the real world. Shelly made me believe with Maggie and Caleb, and now she has me convinced with Seth and Ava. It's all about being patient and waiting for the right person. It can happen in an instant, and sometimes with people we never expect. Love is funny like that.
I loved this new installment in the Significant series and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for Seth and Ava.
Another good read in this series, but I found it a bit hard to get into again.
I loved the Significance series in all its sweet (and slightly cheesy) paranormal romance glory - but by the time this book was released I think the phase had passed for me. This book follows the story of another Virtuoso couple: Ava, Caleb and Maggie Jacobson’s daughter, and Seth – a kidnapped human child that has been raised by the rival Watson clan. I liked both their characters and enjoyed watching them learn to love each other. I also liked the way this story had a bit of a Romeo and Juliet feel to it as far as the falling in love with the enemy was concerned. The writing was okay. It could have done with a bit more editing and was a bit slow to start with. I also found pieces of it quite repetitive and felt the whole book could have been shortened significantly without taking away from the story.
Anyway, despite all that I still enjoyed the story and would recommend it to fans of the Significance series who have read the previous books. If you haven’t read any of Shelly Crane’s books yet I’d start off with Significance (the first book of this series) or Wide Awake (the first book in another good romance series of hers) first to see if you like her writing style.
I loved the whole series and was anxiously waiting for Ava and Seth's story..and finally I've read it ! It was as usual a sweet story but it had its own nexus of 'Watson's-R-Us' drama. I loved it ! I liked the characters , especially Seth's whole firefighter-strong persona with the other more 'softer' side of his. Ava was a conflict for me to understand at the begining but it got better after that. I still love Caleb and Maggie aka the champion and the visionary along with the whole Jacobson clan but there were instances where I wish that they would just stop !! On the whole I loved this book and the ending. I anxiously await the war that is the next book !!
3 firefighting and 1.5 Vivere stars !!
MAY THE ODDS ALWAYS BE IN YOUR FAVOUR JACOBSONS ....I M ROOTING FOR YOU GUYZ !!..
I received an advanced reading copy of this book. So thrilled to have the opportunity to be one of the first to read this amazing story. Ava is so complex. She is sweet, a rebel, smart, wise way beyond her years and yet so strong!!!! Seth is well, lets just say he could be the love of my life. Seth is very sexy and very strong and did I say amazing!!! This was an a great love story with intrigue and suspense and secrets. You will be blown away by "The Secrets". The Significance Saga just gets better and better. I can't wait to see it on T.V.
OMG!! I can't wait till this comes out! I just read consequence, and the end had a little excerpt of undeniably chosen. And honestly I just love the pairing. I am excited to read what happens to Ava and Seth. *fangirling*
UPDATE: After finding out that there was a mistake with the release of this book, having a draft published instead of the final product, I waited for the updated version to be ready and I downloaded it and started it again.
I have upgraded the rating from a 2 to a 3 because it was still mediocre, at best. Ashlyn's story is still way too long and unnecessary, there are still inconsistencies and typos. Ava's still annoying, but I liked Seth more this time and found him swoon worthy.
Original review:
I hate rating this so low, and I’ve stewed over it for days, but I’m just so disappointed.
I want to start by saying I was a big fan of the original Significance Series. Caleb and Maggie, while often mushy and a tad OTT, they had a modern day fairytale love that would make any girl swoon.
So imagine my excitement upon learning that there was going to be a spin off series in the POV of Maggie and Caleb’s daughter, Ava. What happens when Ava Jacobson imprints with Seth Watson, from the rival Watson clan? *Excited face!*
Now imagine my disappointment when an email telling me my pre-ordered copy has been downloaded to my phone, and I start reading to find a plethora of typos, plot holes, and sentences that didn’t even make sense. Some examples: 1) “Our fingers almost touched on the napkin and my eyes lifted to see dark ones meeting mine.” (Chapter Two, referring to Seth.) “We all stood in that circle and stared at each other, letting the awkwardness stew and simmer, but all I could do was stare at those blue eyes and wait for him to speak again.” (Chapter Three, referring to Seth.) 2) ““Oh, my gosh, Ave.” (Kyles daughter) wiped under her eye. This is like a freaking romance novel. What happened next?”” 3) “So I told them. I told them everything. By the time I was done, we were all crying, but I was smiling through them.”
These are direct excerpts from my iBooks copy, and only three of many inconsistencies.
I was speechless. There was a mistake on nearly every page. I complained to a friend of mine who bought the book from Amazon, and she told me that Seth had blue eyes from the beginning, and her copy did not have “(Kyle’s daughter)” in brackets. We compared versions and realised hers was a lot more polished than mine.
So, I contacted Ms. Crane via Goodreads, telling her my theory. I believe somewhere in the uploading process, Smashwords has uploaded an incorrect or un-updated version, sending it to Apple. I have not received a response yet, but I’m going to give Crane the benefit of the doubt. I did manage to finish the book, so I will try and review on plot and storyline, disregarding my struggles to get through the errors and mistakes.
Seth and Ava: Modern day Romeo and Juliet. Over 140k words. 50k words could have easily been erased if Ava didn’t bite her lip, or fist Seth’s shirt so much. (And seriously, fisting and twisting his shirt that much would surely ruin them. He’s a fireman, he’s not made of money – stop ruining the boy’s shirts!) If Seth didn’t rub his thumb over Ava’s face repeatedly, and Ashlyn’s story was reduced to the brief explanation it needed instead of the long pointless rambling that added nothing to the story, all these things would reduce the word count considerably, making it for an easier YA read.
Can someone please tell me what Seth and Ava’s abilities are? At the end of the book, she notes the irony of Seth the fireman, having the ability to create fire. But she was the one to shoot fire at his Uncle during the struggle. Quote: “His fire could cancel out my ice, I could cool his burn, or we could both burn hot and be happy together in the ashes.” So she can shoot fire and ice? *confused!*
There were just too many inconsistencies, and this is why indie authors have a bad rep. Because of unpolished work being published without proper editing and proofs. (I was hoping that this fire/ice debacle was also part of the uploading mishap that I suspect happened, but unfortunately it is the same in my friend’s Amazon copy.)
Also, where is Haddock – Maggie’s biological father, and Ava’s grandfather?
Now that my complaints are out of the way, I want to focus on what I did like: A man planning to take the woman’s name in marriage – Awesome. Trouble. Great character (and I’m totally predicting an Ember/Trouble match in the next book PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE – I want to read that book.) Ember’s Hunger Games reference. Lilith’s surprise.
I’m really disappointed because I loved the original series, and I really want to read Ember’s story when it comes out, but I just don’t know if I have the trust in this author that I once had. My friend has vowed to never buy a Shelly Crane book again because of how sloppy this one was.
Please, please, please, tell us this was a technical glitch, and not what we should expect of Significance books in the future.
Sigh.... I loved this book. I really did. But the book is in need of a serious edit. There are missing words and typos all over the place. I expected better from a best selling author. Simple errors like these are my BIGGEST pet peeve. So the rating took a big hit from that.
Seth is a pretty awesome character. He's funny and brave and incredibly selfless. And he holds it together pretty well considering that everything he ever knew was proved wrong.
Ava, on the other hand, isn't a very strong character. In the beginning, I should she would be a spunky and witty character, which she was and I liked that. But then she turned all childish and hated and wanted to hate Seth. I could somewhat understand why. But after she finally gives in to loving Seth, she cries... like a lot. I can understand the reasons why she cries as well. It's either too sad, or too cruel, or super cute and happy, but still... she doesn't have to cry for just about everything. And if she wasn't crying, she was about to cry. Ava is a dynamic character, like REALLY dynamic, and instead of progressing as a character, she took a few steps back. What happened to the spunky and witty Ava? She's still kinda spunky near the end, but she's more of a dependent, weak, and sensitive character. I'm kind of disappointed.
Regardless of what I've said, this book was one I was glad I read. It was sweet and it was definitely my kind of romance. It did lack a certain steaminess to it, but I'm not complaining.
What I am complaining about is how the romance and heated scenes were described. I've heard it all the same from the other 4 books. their tongues danced, they gasped into each other's mouths, he growls, she sighs, they bit lips, fingers dug into skins, etc. It's all been expressed the same way for four books! It's time to find out some other ways. I'm not saying it can't be used, but in this book alone, those actions have been expressed the same way too many times that it all sounds repetitive and it made the passionate scenes not so passionate.
SO yeah, I'm giving this book three stars. But to all you fans of the Significance series,I'm telling you you still have to read it. It's a story you won't want to miss, but I hope you won't be as distracted as I was from the errors and as bummed out about the main protagonist.
Frankly, I was more interested in knowing more about Seth or Rodney.
Shelly Crane has a true gift and I realized that when I first fell in love with Maggie and Caleb in the first book of this series titled Significance. The same is true for Seth and Ava and I think even more so with them. The course of love is never smooth, just like life, it has it's bumps, bruises, conflicts, pain, joy, laughter and arguments. What Shelly gives you in this book is that desire that I believe ever girl wants from her significant someone who wants to share every part of who they are, just as they are, warts, scars and all. Despite all they have overcome to find that significant, it is the unequaled privileged to be able to share a life and a love with that person. The honor of loving that person so much that you place their needs before your own because to do so is to fulfill a vital need that you have for that person.
Ava and Seth learn that finding your significant is the easy part. It is learning to love someone regardless of their family, their past, and trusting them, loving them to the point that you surrender all the petty things, family grudges and history. You make the conscious choice to making a life, and new family with your significant the ONLY priority. You can't choose your family, but you can choose how you love and forgive someone and not let the actions of others dictate your choices. I think they learn that very tough lesson. This book goes beyond just a love story for me. I wished significants were real, I would love to be a Virtuoso and find someone not just to love but to share all of me with. I hope this review helps anyone wanting to read this book. I won't spoil it for you and tell you what happens but I am telling you that this story will leave you breathless with the emotion that touches your heart. Anyone can write a love story, but very few can create such characters that make you want to jump into the book and never look back. I would encourage you to get your copy and find your own meaning in this story. Shelly you are amazing and I can wait for your next book! You leave me speechless!
Where do I begin... This was the SLOWEST read I've had in a long time. I honestly kept thinking "when is this book going to end?"
Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad, it was just so slow, it felt likeI was trying to walk through molases. I LOVED Seth... and also Ava ;-). I just don't know whatever happened to the author this time around because I did not find the other books in the series so daunting to read.
Also, I was really dissapointed in seeing Ava & Seth so alianated. I mean in the first set of books we had Caleb & Maggie, with Kyle, Lynne, Bish, Jen, Peter, Rachel, Gran, and the list just keep going. All those extras made the adventure more complete and fast paced because there was something always going on. But this time around it was just S&A, a whole lotta kissing, OMG the kissing, at one point it just never stopped and I just wanted to shout out loud "I get it, you love kissing, move it already!!!" I swear, I think there's like 30 pages dedicated to describing how it feels when they kiss and where Seth's hands are, well more like aren't. Oh, and the whole tights and thumb thing were just so annoying!!!
There, I finished my rantting... Other than all that. It was a good storyline with a lot of typos. Who did you're editting? because they sure do need glasses. I'll patiently wait for the next book since I need a reset of mindset and energy to tackle that one which will hopefully be more fast paced.
The next generation of the Significance series is finally here and I am so very excited! Not only for this book, but the looming awesome series that is about to unfold before us!
“To feel someone’s heartbeat inside my chest and know that it was reciprocated.”
First let’s get this out of the way. Significance is an awesome series. It’s four books and two novellas. Which if you’re just joining us, can be a little intimidating. But don’t let it be!
Because I’ll let you in on a little secret.. *looks around* You can read this one on it’s own! It’s got a great story that can stand on it’s own pages and doesn’t have to lean on the rest of the series for support. Do I think you should read the rest first? Of course! Or if this is the book that gets you hooked and you go back to read the rest, so be it. You’ll still love it.
We’re introduced to new characters right along with all of my old friends. And Shelly Crane somehow skillfully manages to keep the classic characters involved in the story while letting the new ones step up and have their time in the spotlight.
“Safe. Warm. Happy. Significant in someone’s world.”
Ava and Seth have one heck of a challenge in front of them. A Watson in a Jacobson world isn’t likely to get a warm welcome, no matter who he’s imprinted with. And the Watsons? They don’t forgive or forget so easily. And if they can’t have him. No one will.
I really like Shelly Crane, but this book was really bad. The Significance series is one of my favorites and this spin off was just all over the place and made no sense. The dialogue was painfully boring and cheesy in the worst way and there was almost no character development other than some for the two main characters. Every climax was a fire including the powers they get which was the worst metaphor towards Seth's job. The characters from Significance were hardly in the book - even their kids. I was left with many questions and there were a ton of things that didn't add up and many inconsistencies. I tried to love it but just no. I also got the copy with EVERY grammar mistake known to man which sucked. 2.75 generous stars.
Everyone needs to stop hounding Shelly because it shows in her work. Let the woman have time to write something good for crying out loud! This could have been such a better book!
