Just Little Old Me is a cute story of Leah the Frog and her friend Alex the Fish. As they play in the water, they talk about what they want to be when they grow up. As the story unfolds, we see they find out what all children need to know. A real heart-warming story.
Joyce Mitchell is a very busy grandmother and loves writing books for little children. Her debut novel, Unheard Cries won a 5-star badge from Readers Favorite in 2011.
Joyce did a great job in this book. She points out everything this frog might do. It is a very cute book for kids to use their imagination. I love it and will be buying more of Joyce's books.
Leah, the frog and Alex the fish have become friends while hanging out together at the pond. While in the process of playing together one day, Alex asks Leah what she hopes to be when she grows up. Leah uses her imagination to come up with some fanciful scenarios. She is sure of one thing; she wants to study and read lots and lots of books before she makes a decision.
Young children spend much of their time wishing they could grow up and move on to some new achievement. This book is a refreshing reminder that we should simply enjoy the moment. Children will learn that they will be most happy by just being true to themselves. This is a delightful rhyming read aloud that will please parents, teachers and early elementary school children.
I won this book at a First Reads giveaway, to read to my grandson. He loves the outdoors and so he loved the characters in this book. It has a cute story and colorful illustrations which he enjoyed. We talked about the different careers the book mentioned. I liked the message because it is so important to just enjoy being young. The coloring page is a great addition! Looking forward to more frog and fish adventures!
It's a cute story about possible future jobs for a frog, but she also felt concern for her fish friend. It rhymed, but some of them felt forced and awkward.
