Spencer Riggs is sexy, intense and driven in his pursuit of all things racing.
That pursuit now includes me.

I'm determined to resist that panty-melting smile he keeps flashing my way. I have no time for distractions. Fulfilling a last promise to my father is my only goal.

Race after race, city after city, I do my best to keep it professional. I swear I do.But one night after a hard-fought win, we're celebrating, and Riggs claims his own sweet victory. Me.

His sizzling touch owns my body, but it’s the broken man beneath the public façade who slowly wins my heart.

Before I realize it, Riggs is the one I’m willing to risk everything for. Even if it means breaking a promise. But with our hearts on the line, will he risk everything for me?

Spencer Riggs (h) hasn't gotten his opportunity to get a seat in F1, but he knows his time is coming. When he gets the call, he knows he can't mess his opportunity up because he worked really hard to get there. The bad thing is that his boss's daughter is Camila Moretti (h), the girl he kissed on a dare, and she has the opportunity to threaten it all.

⋆┈┈┈┈*⛧♡﹤୨THOUGHTS♡୧﹥ ┈┈*⛧⋆

"The card was . . . real—at first—but then I ran into you and—""

"And saw a woman least likely to be hit on. Way to boost your ego while hurting mine. Class fucking act.""

"I know. And that says so much more about you than it ever could say about me.""

Riggs was a total asshole from the start. He approached her at the bar because he thought she was a woman who wouldn't get flirted with at the bar, and to make it worse, he criticized her attire; then he felt like an asshole in the future when he discovered why she dressed that way. He shouldn't have made fun of her in the first place, it's not his place to dictate how a woman should dress. If it's not flattering for him, he should continue with his business. I also didn't like that Camila insisted that he tell her why she was not appealing to him. Then, he told her, and she was upset. I don't think these two had chemistry; it was an unnecessary drama that wanted to appease the enemies in the lovers' plot line, but they had no connection. It was bad. He only regretted his actions because she was a Moretti and realized she could fuck him over and his opportunity in F1. I don't support Riggs and he took feedback as a personal attack.

"I had to. I was doing my job.""

"A marketing manager giving a driver a warning? Berating him in front of the entire fucking crew? Last I checked, that wasn't in your job description."

"Cat got your tongue, Moretti?""

Camila needed to act more professionally, especially when she wanted respect from the crew. Her dad was right; she is obligated to reprimand her client when he doesn't do a good job. It's her job to focus on his image, and it looks bad when a driver does not listen to his engineers or his team because it's a group effort. He could have acted a fool in F2, but he couldn't decide the strategy for himself in F1. It's a shame that he thought the world revolved around him because it doesn't. He took the criticism to the ass and would throw a little tantrum. The girl had my dream job and was about to ruin it all for a man who wasn't worth it. Riggs is a classified asshole and does not appreciate Cami, he only notices her or likes her when she changes up her appearance, and she met his standards of ideal beauty. I don't know how people think he's likable on social media; he's just a jerk. He thought it was funny to make a post about how he was sleeping with the boss's daughter when they weren't yet. That only got her in trouble, and that could have ruined her reputation. Of course, he didn't think about that; Riggs only thinks about himself. 🙄🙄🙄 To be fair, I knew he couldn't be trusted when he said she was the least likely to be hit on and didn't know she had a history of SA.

"I made fun of your clothes." His words startle me."

"You didn't know," I murmur and mean it."

"I know, but what a shallow prick. I made fun of you because you were covered up like you owed it to me and everyone else to show your body.""

I don't like how the SA was discussed in the book or handled. It was assumed that Camila had undergone a traumatic event because she wore baggy clothes and wasn't comfortable dressing in a way that showed her body. She also gave up life in the Paddock even though she used to love the place, but somehow, no one cares enough to ask what happened. Did no one realize that she changed overnight? Did no one find it suspicious that she would get pale when she saw a specific person at the Paddock? I'm in disbelief that the SA was discussed in the near-final chapter, and all that happened was Riggs punched the man in the face, which threatened his career in F1 because he already had two strikes. To make it worse, he made it about himself and said he didn't regret his actions, but he needed space because he was about to lose his entire career. It's a mess, and this isn't romance. I think there could have been a better way to discuss SA and Formula 1, but this was the route I anticipated the book to take.

"No. Listen to me. Please," she pleads, suddenly flustered and desperate for me to understand. "It's me. I'm broken. That's why . . . that's why I asked you tonight. For this. For sex."

"Broken? I don't. . . talk to me. Why would you say that? Everything . . ."

I hate that she expressed that she was broken, and his first reaction was to fix the problem with sex. TALK WITH HER. LISTEN TO HER. It's also unrealistic to think that after years of not being able to orgasm because of the sexual trauma of the assault, his going down on her fixed it in ONE CHAPTER. Even so, it should have taken various times till she felt comfortable. I just wanted the conversation to be different. It's slightly strange that the topic of SA was rushed and disregarded just to prove that their connection got rid of all the trauma; that's not how it works. I hated this. I'm disappointed with the execution and how it all felt like a ploy to make it seem like a person who is good at sex can fix all your problems. Her trauma was still there. It happened. Did he even talk to her about it? No his response was anger. He punched Brandon made a scene, and left her no choice but to tell her story. She had a right to tell her family and friends on her own terms. Instead, she felt obligated to come forward to protect Rigg's F1 spot. It's a shame.

How are they in love? When did they fall in love? Was it when he was insulting her fashion sense? Was it when she would instigate a fight for no reason for the sake of hating him? She couldn't move on from the bet card. She kept instigating situations, and he would be honest, then she would want to cry about it. It was a major headache. There is nothing likable about this couple. The crazy part is he cannot pinpoint a moment when he KNEW he loved her. He said it could have been when they kissed at the bar on the first night. How can that be? He was too busy telling her that she was unlikable!!!! He didn't find her appealing because he said her lack of confidence was a turn-off. He is a liar!!! Why did they get engaged ONE YEAR LATER???? I'm calling for a divorce in their future.

"I fucking finished on the podium, and it wasn't because I did what was right, so what makes you think it's right or wrong when it comes to being with you?"

From an F1 standpoint, there is no way this man got his first podium in his rookie year. Does he think he's Oscar Piastri? He's not! He didn't listen, believed he could do whatever he wanted, and overtook his teammate. He's not a team player and he should have been demoted to F2 again. I LOVE F1, AND I HATED THIS BOOK. It was bad. I could imagine the tracks, which made it somewhat interesting, but the romance was 😵‍💫 NOT GOOD. Spencer Riggs is the worst, and Camila just needed to do her job and call it a day. Her dad should have fired her because she was too busy focusing on Riggs and not the other driver. FOLLOW PROTOCOL. The drivers don't go around doing what they want — well, Max does sometimes. However, this man was ignoring instructions left and right. He's terrible.

˚ ༘♡ ⋆。 ❀ OVERALL ˚ ༘♡ ⋆˚ ❀

The book was a snooze fest 😴💤 and Riggs, and Camila had terrible banter and chemistry. I don't like this relationship and will likely not pick up a book by the author again if this is the writing style. The dialogue was not great, and it felt forced. I'm just not happy with what I've read.

"Victory is sweet."

Spencer Riggs has always had one dream.
Drive for Formula 1. Win in Formula 1.
He is fighting for his name. He is fighting for his legacy. He will do anything to make sure he achieves his dream.
His father's dream.
And nothing will stand in his way.
Not even the boss's daughter, Camilla Moretti.

"She's the boss' daughter, and I know boundaries. This opportunity is too important to me to get distracted."

Camilla Moretti is the heir to Moretti Motors.
The only thing is that she doesn't want to be.
When she was little that was her dream. Formula 1.
But the everything got ruined. Everything was stained.
But when family asks her to come back? To take her place in the empire?
She has to do it.
But no one said it would be easy. Especially with Spencer Riggs.

"Something about Spencer Riggs scares me. And scares me in all the best of ways that I don't understand or am sure I want to."

I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review.

If you know me, you know I love Formula 1. Like obsessed. Like slightly concerning. Or a lot concerning…
Anyway…
When I saw Formula 1 sports romance, I was like "gimme, gimme, gimme" and this book made the podium people!! (did you see what I did there 😉😉)

"Nothing is ever good enough, ever fast enough… we're never satisfied. And the sport either rewards us with a win or punishes us with a crash. The in-between is just as unsatisfying."

You have Camilla Moretti who is supposed to take over the company for her dad, but she swore that she would never return to Formula 1. But when there's a family emergency she has no choice but to be there for her family.
Unfortunately, Spencer Riggs is also a part of it. And let's just say they're not the best of friends

"Spencer Riggs, this is my daughter and the woman in charge of marketing, Camilla Moretti"

Then you have Spencer Riggs.
Cocky British F1 "legacy" Spencer Riggs.
This man is the definition of cocky athlete and honestly I'm here for it.
He just wants to achieve his dream. Achieve his father's dream.
And when that opportunity comes up he snatches it up as fast as he can.
But he does need to deal with the boss's daughter in the process.

"Why, Camilla Moretti, are you actually starting to like me?"

And this book wrote like a playlist (if that makes sense) so obviously I had to write it down no?

The one benefit of this book was that I was able to have a conversation with an F1 fanatic and appeared like I knew what I was talking about...

𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙥𝙨𝙞𝙨:
Camilla Moretti is the heir to Moretti Motors as the only daughter of the Moretti family. She wants nothing to do with motorsports, especially Formula One. However, her father is ill and wants to groom her to take over the racing side of the business. Now, Camilla finds herself in the racing world, trying to rebrand and revitalise Moretti Motors. Spencer Riggs is a racer whose dream is to succeed in Formula One. His father was also a racer who tragically died, so Spencer is fighting to uphold his father’s legacy and prove that he can be just as good as his dad. However, there is one small obstacle—Camilla Moretti.

𝙏𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨:
How can you love and dislike something at the same time? That’s exactly how I feel about this book. It had so much potential and a solid foundation to be epic, but it was missing something, which made it fall a little flat.

Camilla is very self-conscious and demeaning of her own skills. She’s almost afraid to embrace who she is, but this isn’t her fault. She’s haunted by a past instance of sexual assault that has left her feeling broken. As a result, she has closed herself off to men and romance to ensure she is never taken advantage of again.

Spencer Riggs is a cocky arsehole, but also charming. He knows he’s attractive, knows how to play the “game,” and oozes sex appeal. He’s the type of person who could sell ice to an Eskimo. However, that’s the reason I disliked him—he felt incredibly fake, overly arrogant, and sometimes his forwardness just came across as abrasive.

A BIG ISSUE I had with this book is that much of the relationship development happens off-page and is simply referenced through "time passing." We don’t get to see the actual progression of them spending time together.

The redeeming qualities are the banter and the attraction between the two. They are instantly drawn to each other, and the spark between them is sweet. The dirty talk, though, did feel a little cringe. what really stood out and redeemed Spencer’s character from being a cocky arsehole was how much he was willing to sacrifice and stand up for what had happened to Camilla. His protectiveness was the THE BEST MOMENTin the book, showcasing his love and his need to care for her no matter the implications.

The audio was spectacular—and not just because I got to listen to Shane East and his British accent. It was actually Carly Robbins. Carly Robbins (CJ Bloom) is my favourite female narrator. She has such a skill in transporting you into the story with her tones, dialects, and ability to convey emotion and character. She makes me fall in love with every book she narrates, and a large part of my enjoyment of this book was due to her.

This was also the first Formula 1 romance I’ve ever read, and I liked that aspect. You can tell a lot of research went into the F1 scenes, from the cars to the drivers to the overall vibe. It gave me enough ammo to chat with a friend who loves racing, soooooo BIG KUDOS!

Overall, this was okay. I had fun. I enjoyed the racing elements, I enjoyed the fact that Camilla came into herself and found a passion in the racing community and that she found it with Spencer Riggs.

Every time the MMC opened his mouth I wanted to stab myself in the eye.

This book is just so boring. There is literally no chemistry between the main couple, and what “banter” they do have is very repetitive and quite unrealistic. Like, I promise you nobody talks like that in real life.

These two seem like a couple that won’t make it past the epilogue lol

౨ৎ my thoughts
i loved this book with all my heart. like i really do. this book is soo weet and cute and racing focus what's necessary. and i cry, i have a little crying session at the end. if you know you know.

౨ৎ spencer riggs & camilla moretti
Riggs is an up-and-coming racing sensation determined to carry on his father’s prestigious Formula 1 legacy. His big break finally arrives, but a reckless bet made during a wild night at the bar takes an unexpected toll—quite literally. this boy have a tought start. the book in general as a tought start. the first chapter def shocked me but i have to say it was quite emotional and the resolution that it has it's beautifull.
i loveeeeeeeeeeee riggs like he is the sweetest boy on the paddock. he is so in love with camilla that he like want to be what she needs, not care about his own needs but looking only at her.
he is soo down bad for her. i love also the racing part of this personality like i really love seeing drivers in the cars and during all the emotions that they have during a race. that is what i want from a f1romance. Plus i LOVE that his first win in f1 was in Monza, like what is better that see a f1(fictional)driver that you love win at your home! i was so happy when i read it! didn't expect that at all!
౨ৎ camilla moretti
aaaa i do love an italin fmc. love to see how the moretti motors really portait like a ferrari vibes. always a ferrari fan!
Camilla, my sweetie pie, is reluctantly pulled back into the world she’s tried to escape. Called home to help her father manage Moretti Motors, a company intertwined with the high-octane thrills of Formula 1, she’s anything but thrilled. Her father, now battling health issues (here i cry, i feel soo emtional as a family member of mine had the same illnesses conditions), hopes she can rise to her own legacy and steer the family business forward. She also have to deal as riggs with a tought past.
i think i love so much books where the mmc help fmc to find again their sparkles and light, like i need like air a cute gold green forest bookboyfriend. and attention, i don't want a story where the girl get a kinda glow up FOR the guy but WITH the guy.

౨ৎ them

The moment these two meets , sparks fly in every direction. Their chemistry is electric, with a perfect balance of sharp-witted banter and simmering tension that embodies a hate-to-love dynamic—even though Riggs seems more intent on outright flirting than being an enemy. Camilla denies her attraction with every snarky comment and icy facade, yet it’s clear that he gets under her skin in ways she refuses to admit. Despite her defenses, Riggs’s charm begins to wear her down, revealing layers of himself that few ever see. He’s not just a flashy, carefree racer; there’s an unexpected depth to his stability, kindness, and unwavering protectiveness. And as the connection between them deepens, Camilla finds herself falling harder than she ever expected.
Their relationship began with intensity, almost playful on his part. However, when they crossed paths again, that undeniable, forbidden allure resurfaced. Despite the tension, neither of them could act on it. This is a true slow-burn romance—emphasis on slow—but I appreciated that pace. It allowed their connection to develop more deeply and authentically. When the story hit its dramatic peak, I expected things to spiral out of control, but thankfully, it remained grounded. The best part? They communicated, which added so much more depth to the journey.
they are too sweet, they care for eachothers and help the partner to shine and bright as lightly as possible. i want what they want like now.
when is my turn???

Before the end of my . . . tenure here...I’ll get you to fuck me somewhere in the paddock.”
“I’ll be your paddock pussy?” she asks, amused. “You’re pretty sure of yourself.”
“I’m a racer, Camilla. I live for the danger. I have to be sure of myself. And this? This I’m sure of.”

This was the series I didn't realize I was waiting for and I. Am. Obsessed.

Riggs is a racing prodigy hoping to follow in his father's legacy in Formula 1. He finally gets his chance but then a stupid bet in a bar comes back to bite him in the @ss...quite literally.

Camilla has been called back to help her father run Moretti Motors. She's been running from the sport for the past few years and reluctant is an understatement. But her ailing father wants her to follow her own legacy and step unto the help of Moretti. Her first order of business? Their brand new Formula 1 hopeful and surprisingly the man who gave her both the most memorable and embarrassing night at a bar days ago.

When I tell you that sparks are immediate between these two, I mean they were sizzling together. The hate/lust banter was just as good as the enemies to lovers vibe. Though they're not quite enemies since Riggs flirts with her at every step and she wants nothing to do with him...seemingly. But beneath her cool and snarky front, she knows the man makes her melt. It doesn't take long for her to start seeing the many layers of Riggs that aren't easily seen. He's not just a playboy racer, he's so much more. With more time they spend together, the more she falls for his stability, tenderhearted care, and protective nature. But Camilla is hiding a secret from her past that still haunts her.

There is a strong emotional undercurrent to this book with Camilla's story and I absolutely loved how K Bromberg handled it. I loved how Riggs fights for her, and I loved even more when we see her fight for him right back.

This was such a satisfying start to what's sure to be an absolutely addictive new series and I'm hooked! I loved these two and I can't wait for the next book and couple!

Spencer “Riggs” & Camilla “Cam” Moretti

🏁Racecar driving
🚫Forbidden romance
🏁 bad boy (asshole)
🚫 team owners daughter

* triggers for sexual assault (previous, off page, described)

“Victory is sweet”-
This line was the best part of the story.

Riggs- He’s fighting for a title to honor his late father. This part of the plot was decent. Albeit, a bit egocentric as an only child to make your career path the one in which you witnessed your father die in a crash and then put your mother through that torment again.

Cami- She’s been fighting to stay away from the racing scene after a sexual assault encounter years prior she’s kept secret. Her abuser, who is still at her fathers company, stated she was asking for it by the tight revealing clothes she wore. Since then she claims herself as being “broken”. Really the only way she heals is by a further sexual encounter with the mmc so he can diagnose her to see if she’s really broken…. and then fix her with some oral. She offered to even pay him. What? Seriously, what?

WHY did she choose him to fix her? Because she felt a spark after kissing him at a bar even after she found out it was a “dare card” to kiss the one most likely not to be hit on. He revealed he named her “baggy bar girl” because of her baggy clothes and unsexy appeal. He only enjoyed her body later when she changed her appearance and was identified as the owners daughter and heir to the company.

He’s overly arrogant and cocky. If i were to dare add, he also has the propensity to mentally abuse the fmc with his awful behavior and comments. Even when confronted with his behavior and he acknowledges it, he’s still an ass. He had a few semi redeeming moments, but not enough.

There wasn’t romance or a build up. Not even sure there was a connection other than awful sex which healed the fmc because she could now climax.

Also, he was reckless and didn’t belong on the track. Being “grumpy “ is one thing. Being awful is another.

Spencer Riggs has racing in his blood, he just needs on a great team. When a chance opens to work with Moretti Motorsports he is ecstatic…until he sees the woman running it is someone he had a little incident with, Camilla Moretti. Camilla left home a while ago but is now back to help her father run their family Motorsports business. She is not thrilled with their new racer. Can these two find a way to work together and get a win for the team? Both are dealing with tragedies from the past, maybe they can find a way to heal together. This is a new racing series and begins giving you the behind the scenes motions of making it up the ranks in the F1 race world. Riggs and Camilla have a great banter that builds in this slow burn sports romance with a story that will tug at your heart. A great beginning to this new series of stand alones. Told in dual POV

we! need! more! f1! romances!

this was SO good. what do you do when a hot guy talks to you in a bar... only to find out it was because of a cruel dare card? you tell him off in front of his friends and hope you never see him again. except you do, on day one of you training to take over your dad's f1 team because he's your new driver. GREAT.

i LOVED riggs. he managed to be very cheeky but was also so sweet when he needed to be. the banter and fire between the two of them was sooo good and i finished this in literally one sitting.

camilla's story was heartbreaking but i loved how he didn't hesitate to go to bat for her at all, even though it put his entire dream in jeopardy.

Camilla Moretti is doing the one thing she vowed never to do — return to Formula 1 racing. Her father is sick and he needs her to come back to the industry and her family’s racing company to begin to learn the ropes.
🏎️ Spencer Riggs has had two goals in life. To make it in Formula 1 and to fight through a future determined by his past.

Now, both are working for Moretti, Camilla for marketing and Riggs as a replacement driver.

Only problem? They actually know each other from a prior run-in and Camilla is *not* the biggest fan of Riggs.

🏎️

The perfect combination of Formula 1 and workplace romance . . . Off the Grid is just that.

Camilla’s character was so well written. She was intelligent, strong, and knew what she wanted. Riggs was determined, funny, and not the guy you initially think he is.

Together, it was so awesome getting to see their characters grow and overcome their pasts.

What I appreciated about Off the Grid and Kristy’s writing was that it was extremely well written and didn’t force me to get lost in the details. I know very little about F1, but this book was written in a way that I understood it completely. I could tell that Kristy had done her research. No unnecessary jargon 🙌

Off the Grid was the perfect introduction to this new series (Full Throttle) and I am highly anticipating book 2, On the Edge!

Thank you Kristy and Valentine PR for an ARC in exchange for my honest review <3

THIS! BOOK! SUCKED! Sorry if this is rude, but the growing anger I had of an evening reading this grew until I think I may have been able to power a 5th grader's science experiment. I....I also think it might be the worst MMC I have ever read? ALLOW ME TO AIR SOME OF MY GRIEVANCES, A LIST:

If you loved Lauren Asher’s Dirty Air series then you’ll love this!

A cocky F1 driver and the team owners daughter who just so happens to be his new marketing manager🤌🏻

This book was so different than a lot of others I’ve read. It towed the line between spice, swoon, and emotion. It’s surprisingly VERY emotional and covers deep topics! There was so much sexual tension it was off the charts.

While I had a fun time reading it and enjoyed being back in an F1 series, I didn’t connect super well to the MMC.

I found him pretty unlikeable and a straight up dick lol. He seemed to be all over the place and I couldn’t completely forgive him for some of the things he did (it’s a me problem). I REALLY liked the FMC and everything she’s been through was so sad. I needed the MMC to grovel a bit.

Overall, I defs recommend this for fans of F1 and know a lot of people are going to love this!

Thanks to the author for an ARC🫶🏼🫶🏼

Off the Grid is book one of the Full Throttle Series – if you love F1 sport you will love this book, if you don’t watch F1 you also will love this book because you will learn so much about the world of car racing 😊. For those who have waited long for something resemble the Driven series, wait no longer. This was such a good promise for what to come the rest of Full Throttle. Camilla is F1 race car owner’s daughter. She grew up around racing but something happened so she left that world to start a new life. Spence is the son of F1 legend who father passed away when he was young. Spencer’s dream is to follow his father footsteps. When he was about to finally make F1 driver, he ran into Camilla and well sort of insulted her… Spencer is a hardheaded confident guy. Instead of groveling after the incident, he might have hurt her feelings on the first day in the office. Yikes! Not a very good start for someone who wants to get on with F1 family 😊 Lucky for Spencer he is a darn good driver and Camilla’s dad likes him. I love the banters and interactions between those two. They are both hard working, trying to prove themselves that they belong in the Moretti company. The also have to overcome the tragedy and trauma that happened in the past … that was emotional. Enemy-to-lover is one of my favorite genre. The chemistry was phenomenal. Love Cami and Riggs from the start – I think they had me at “the kissing bet” at the bar 😊 This was an adorable, entertaining, sizzling, and heartwarming romance. Abv unique plot – I haven’t read any F1 race story before. FANTASTIC writing! LOVE it!

"There’s only one person I want to run and hug fiercely. There’s only one man I’m slowly falling for. And that was never supposed to happen."

I love sports romances and I was so excited to read this book. Riggs & Camilla were great together! Their banters were so entertaining and the jabs Cami threw at Riggs kept his ego in check. In the beginning I was very invested but the pacing kind of slowed down in the middle which is why the ending felt abrupt but the epilogue was perfect. The side characters were good and I'm looking forward to continue this series. Overall, Riggs & Cami were a cute couple, the story was lighthearted and short but sweet, it wasn't substandard but it was adequate. So, it was a 3.75 star read at it's finest.

Peccato.

4.5 'colored hearts' Stars!
ARC provided via Valentine PR in exchange for an honest review.

This time K. Bromberg comes back with a series of four books with the sport that started her fame in the romance world: racing. If you loved Colton Donavan and the Driven series, get ready to fall in love with Kristy’s newest hero and the woman who will make him fall HARD.

Off the Grid is the first installment in the Full Throttle series and it tells the story of Spencer Riggs and Camilla Moretti. Riggs is following his dreams and the ones his father had for him. He wants a spot in Formula 1 and he will not stop until he gets it. Enter Camilla Moretti, the heiress of Moretti Motorsports and a woman who is fighting to heal back in the world that hurt her back in the day. But what neither of them expected was a forbidden and intense connection that will either save them or make the world burn to the ground.

This feels like something I want but know I shouldn’t have. Like something I desperately need, as if I’m drowning and Camilla is the only thing that can revive me.

I mean, of course I am not surprised that I devoured this book in just a few hours. K. Bromberg is one of my absolute favorite authors and she never disappoints with her writing. Introducing now a new crew of characters, she starts her new series with a couple that burns the pages and a workplace romance that is as taboo as it is delicious to read. I loved Riggs and Camilla together, I loved their chemistry and how they both fight until the end to be together.

What you do to me?
Ruin me.
Wreck me.
Own me.

Therefore, I am rating Off the Grid with 4.5 STARS because it was a wonderful start to Kristy’s new F1 series, introducing a beautiful crew of characters and narrating another love story for the ages. She definitely made us fall in love with Riggs and Camilla, their passionate connection and the whole array of feelings they make us feel. I loved this first book and I cannot wait to read the other three in the series! Great start!!

To było bardzo płytkie i nie poczułam ani trochę vibe’u formuły 1. Zmarnowany potencjał, szczególnie że to mogli być bardzo ciekawi główni bohaterowie. Szkoda.

off the grid review!🏎️❤️‍🔥🏁

i just LOVE reading about the things that i love so i have been searching for another good f1 book since i finished the dirty air series over a year ago & i can say i have FINALLY found one!!! <3 if you’re also an f1 girlie i highly recommend picking this up (plus it’s going to be a series!)

4/5 ⭐️

riggs is an f2 driver striving to make a name for himself apart from the legacy his dad left in the sport. camilla grew up in the world of f1 but has spent 6 years away with no desire to return. a call up to f1 for riggs & a plea from camilla’s dad (the CEO of Moretti racing) to come home bring them together to work for the same team. little did camilla know, her team’s new driver is someone she shared a brief confusing past with…

i felt this book had the perfect mix of sports and romance & the romance was also not rushed as the main characters grew their connection deeper which makes me appreciate a story even more. due to this deep connection, the most beautiful part of their story was seeing them each be each other’s biggest supporter and comfort person to get over their hurdles surrounding the f1 world 🥹🫶🏼

-sports romance (formula 1)
-dual POV
-forbidden romance
-workplace romance

thank you so much to the author, k. bromberg, for sending me this book! i can’t wait for the rest of the series!

It seems as though almost every review I’ve written the past couple of months has started this way, but nonetheless…

I wanted to love this book. Truly, I was surprised I didn’t. The premise was everything I’ve been craving and then some. Ever since the letdown that was the Dirty Air series by Lauren Asher, another F1 quartet, I’ve been desperate to find a replacement.

But there’s no use sugarcoating it. The MMC, Riggs, was as unbearable as they come. I already have zero tolerance for men, but you add in his inability to take proper accountability for his wrongdoings, and girl…let me at him. There is a clear line in the bad boy facade and he most definitely crossed it. I couldn’t root for him and the FMC as a couple or quite literally anything else. There was a gap of space between their hatred and lust for one another. There’s no inciting incident that clarifies where or why the boundaries became irrelevant.

Cami was considerably more bearable but lacked any nuance. She didn’t seem to bear any interests outside of her relationship with Riggs and her father. There were no distinguishable personality traits to connect with.

There were a couple of plot points that were unnecessary, purely because they weren’t given enough page time to truly matter. The double family business, Moretti Olive Oil, seemed out-of-place and as though it didn’t influence the weight of the story in any direction. On the contrary, I would’ve loved to have seen the family involvement in Moretti Motorsports. I understand that each author has their niche, so this could just be the inner found family connoisseur in me vying for its place to shine.

The ending was incredibly rushed and much to my dismay, the race at Suzuko, which was foreshadowed throughout the entire book, lacked any build-up during the event itself.

I will say, I do plan on reading the rest of the series as the books come out. I don’t want to diminish this author to my particular feelings toward one story. Everyone’s got their preferences and while this wasn’t mine, it isn’t to say that it won’t be someone else’s!

Unfortunately, I did not connect with the storyline or the characters and it was hard for me to stay focused on reading this book. The story didn’t have a nice flow, and the moving pieces didn’t fit well together. This book had a paper thin plot with one dimensional characters.

Riggs was annoying, childish and confusing. The trauma that Camila endured is something that most woman struggle with and I liked the representation of mental health. However, her thoughts rambled on so much.

Overall, I would say this book was underwhelming.

3.5 stars

I’m lazy and don’t want to do a full review right now so here are some quotes. I might come back and right an actual review but I might not…we’ll see.

Favorite quotes:

“Because we all have that one secret we keep close to the vest. The one we think might ruin us but hope it won’t. The one we hide in bathrooms having panic attacks over. And then add another layer of hope that maybe one day it’ll get better.”

“Like something I desperately need, as if I’m drowning and Camilla is the only thing that can revive me.”

“I’m here because one”—he holds a finger up—“I’m not interested and two”—another exaggerated motion of two fingers out—“you didn’t want to be there and I didn’t want you to be alone . . . so?”

“I never set out to make Camilla Moretti like me, let alone trust me, but the sap in me, who rears his pathetic head like once or twice a year, thinks it feels pretty damn good.”

“Camilla. Look at me.” He waits for my eyes to flutter up to his, and the serious expression in his eyes shocks me. “You. You’re the other thing I want.”

“Jesus, she’s a sight to behold.
Camilla Moretti.
There you go owning me again.”

“I need to be her strength. The one she can confide in.”

“And the ego returns.”
“And the ego made you laugh.”

“I’m in love with you. Can’t you see that? You’re it for me, Camilla”

“You drive me crazy but fuck if that madness doesn’t make me love you more. You challenge me. You make me the kind of man who would give up his dream because it’s the right thing to do. And that’s fucking saying a lot. Because I would. I did. And I’d do it a million times over if that’s what you needed, because I’m in fucking love with you.”

“No, I’m right where I’m supposed to be. Here. With you.”

"Victory is sweet."

This is a two POV book, told by the POV´s of Camilla and Riggs.

I really loved Camilla´s character, I liked the strong bossb*tch woman she represented while also feeling insecure about herself in some elements. It made her character feel "real" and really balanced. I loved that she was in the F1 business herself and not somebody the MMC met by chance. Regarding the MMC, I have to say that I sadly didn´t really like Riggs. For me he was a bit too confident to a point where he came across douchey and arrogant.

With side characters I liked Camilla´s dad and I wish that their relationship would´ve been portrayed a little bit more. The same goes for Rigg´s mom. Regarding the side characters I would have wished for a little more background information, there is so little we get to know about them.

For the plot I can say that this is definitely more "F1" than the last book I read. I loved that F1 is more the main focus of the book and I think my fellow F1 girlies will really like that. Regarding the romance in here, I have to say that it wasn´t really my cup of tea. Maybe it was because I couldn´t really connect to Riggs. I felt like he was supposed to be more but it just didn´t deliver for me. I thought he was too cocky and too full of himself. I think the romance is supposed to be slow burn and enemies to lovers but it was honestly hard to tell at times. However there is some good smut in here, the pacing is fine and there are many good action scenes; so the story doesn´t get boring.

Overall I´d say it´s a good F1 book that just lacked a bit in the romance department.

trigger warnings: death/loss of loved ones, mentions of rape (not caused by the love interest)

He's not acting as a bad boy, he's just a fucking asshole.
The beginning is boring. The banter sucks.
There's no chemistry and I don't care anymore about them.

People who gave +four stars, what book did you read? I don't understand...

I liked the narration of this book a lot, I would give the narration 4.5 stars. I think Carly Robins and Shane East do a fantastic job narrating this bully romance. I do not particularly enjoy bullies and find could not get over the fact that he is only nice to her because of who her family is. I wish the book didn't try to make me like him without him even offering a single sincere apology for the MMCs behavior. I also wanted to mention that in the past, the FMC has been sexually assaulted and I did not particularly like the way that it was handled in the book. So the bully and the SA made me give the story, 2 stars so I landed on 3 stars for the book overall.

TW: Bullying, SA description

Tropes: Bully, neighbors, workplace, and boss/employee
