The Biokin Chronicles #2

Sapling's Aurora

Rate this book
On the run from the Evo corporation, Addi and Mila crash land on the isolated farming planet, Birumu. Trapped on the surface while they repair their ship, they hide in plain sight, working as farmhands.

But things aren't as they seem as they realise one of the locals is behind a series of bombings. To add to the danger, Addi's newfound powers have dried up, leaving the pair without options as Evo starts to close in.

As they work to solve the attacks, they uncover more of Evo's secrets. But can they get offworld before Evo finds them? There's more than their lives at stake if they can't.

This is the second book in The Biokin Chronicles.

Praise for the first book in the series, Sapling's Orbit:
"I could not put it down"
"a page-turner"
"the story is fantastic"

Another great installment of the episodic YA space adventure by Spencer Rose, Sapling's Aurora, kicks up the action a bit as our two young ladies crash land on a distant planet in an effort to escape Evo.
The relationship between Mila and Addi grows as they struggle to repair their ship and stay off of Evo's radar. They make new friends and enemies as the adventure continues.
The world-building continues to expand the universe with brilliant imagery, and the new supporting characters have intriguing backstories.
I am quite enjoying the journey and will be completing the series. These novella-length episodes wrap up, but do not complete the story as they build on one another.
I recommend this fun, quick series.

Ahhhhh it's so short 😩 I need more of Mila and Addi; something is definitely brewing between them. I love the plot twists on this one because I didn't see those coming. As usual, it is fast paced but the world building and the story telling as well as the characters are very well expressed.

The perfect place to hide from Evo turns out to have some serious secrets of its own! Addi and Mila find themselves in a situation that becomes more complicated and dangerous by the day as they discover more about Evo, the farming planet Birumu, and themselves than they ever anticipated.

This had a bit of a space western feel to it. The girls were trapped on Birumu for the whole book and it was fascinating to see the web tying all the various characters and locations together that Spencer Rose created in this book. Just when I thought I had one piece figured out, another wrench was thrown in. I also like seeing Addi learn more about her abilities and watching the relationship between Addi Mila grow.

Second book in the Biokin Chronicles, this book does contain a full story arc, but it also builds strongly off of the previous book and leaves some serious questions for books to come. There is a lot more about Evo to be learned and both girls have strong incentive to pursue keys to help them achieve their goals - which seem more aligned the more they find out.

[Disclaimer: I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange of an honest review]

So, we're back with Addi and Mila, who are on the run from EVO and end up in a farming planet.

I have to say that I liked this second novella better than the first one. The writing was better, we get to know more of the girls as well as seeing them get closer and their relationship turn deeper and I just loved the planet where they arrived. The descriptions and details gave me a really vivid image of it. And the side characters were lovely (I declare myself a fan of Elin!)

Also, without getting into spoiler territory, it's obvious that life's not going to be easy for Addi and Mila even if they try to lie as low as possible in Birumu, and that's what I'm here for: all the adventures they have without intending to😂

Anyway, even if the novella is short, it never feels rushed or missing things. I love how Mila and Addi's relationship is turning out to be, and can't wait to read more of them together!

Sapling's Aurora picks up where the previous book left off, with our heroines Addison and Mila crash landing on a planet on the further reaches of the story's universe. Here they'll grow closer, make some friends/allies, solve a bit of a mystery, and figure out how to get their ship, Scout, back up and running to get off planet and get on with their adventure.

Spencer Rose's writing has definitely improved and gotten a bit cleaner, and the dialogue is better in the second novella in the Biokin Chronicles tetralogy. It's still a quick read, but it's basically it's own stand alone story, and I really enjoyed that we were progressing through the story without being left on a big cliffhanger, although the adventure is far from over. I've already finished the series (I read it all in two days), but when I got to the end of Sapling's Aurora I was definitely looking forward to more.

I received a free ARC from the author, but my review is unbiased and left voluntarily.

Sapling's Aurora is a great second novella in the Biokin Chronicles. Again, it was so well written that I couldn't put it down and had to read it all in one sitting.

I just love Addi and how strong she is getting, and the connection between her and Mila is just spot on. I can feel the attraction for each other getting stronger and I can't wait to see what happens between them in the next book.

I loved how everything was put in this book and the fact that even though it's a novella, it didn't feel rushed. The plot was great, it was spread out nicely, and it's just perfect.

I honestly can't wait to see where it goes next.

Thank you Spencer Rose for the arc. I leave this review voluntarily.

Once again, Spencer has done a stunning job of creating fresh and exciting worlds and beautifully real characters. We rejoin Addi and Mila thrust straight into danger, on the run, desperate for somewhere to lay low and running out of oxygen.

Everything has been so thoroughly well-researched. I loved the way the mystery was peeled back and revealed in a way that felt natural and well-paced.
Addi's reactions and thoughts make her feel so very real. The subtle attraction building between her and Mila as she discovers who she is… it’s beautiful.
And that conclusion 👌

Fun, easy, and hard to put down. I just want to read more and more about these characters and the universe they live in.
Until further notice, I’ll be over here eagerly anticipating the next instalment.

❤🤩🚀 EXCELLENT SUITE!

Inside the spacecraft, the oxygen alarm had been beeping for hours.

The pilot Mila clung to the controls of the device soon to run out of energy.

They were going to break down, way too far off course.
Their employer, the Evo Corporation, would never be able to find them...

-------------------------

This is the continuation of Addison and Mila's dangerous adventures through space.

Will they survive the fall of the shuttle?
What will they find on planet Birumu?

A real page-turner with a very good background plot, beautiful characters, mystery and the unexpected.

I loved it and I recommend!

This is a great sci-fi novella about Addi and Mila being stranded on a planet and their time on this planet isn’t all fun and games. I loved this story, I can’t wait to read more about Addi and Mila. It was a short read but it has everything I love in a story: adventure, love, drama, and some great one liners.

As a disclaimer I received an advance review copy for free, and and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

this was another strong entry in the Biokin Chronicles series, it had what I wanted from the first book and had great scifi elements. The characters felt like the same people and the world was still as interesting as in the first book. I enjoyed the way Spencer Rose wrote this.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Okay. First book brought me in. The second book is probably my favorite of the series (out of 3) I’ve finished so far. Relationship building and also connecting the dots of all the happenings of the planet their on and the bigger picture. Thought it was well done. Book 2 had me cave and buy book 3 and 4. Sticking with an 8/10.

I thoroughly enjoyed this second instalment of Addi and Mila’s adventure! Addi has started to establish herself as a strong character, and their relationship is building at a nice pace. The world Spencer has created is such a unique experience, but it is extremely easy to read at the same time.

A lot of side characters were introduced, but it wasn’t at an overwhelming rate which was nice. Everyone plays their part in the story. The mystery behind the book was also revealed at a nice pace and nothing felt rushed.

I look forward to the next instalment of this, it is a nice easy read and something to break up the bigger books!
