Faelene Carey owns Ink & Parchment, a bookstore in the small New England town of Thistleton. Not only is she a successful businesswoman, she's secretly a witch who can transform into a cat. It's not that she minds it, there's just one problem. She must find true love before the 13th year after her first transformation or else be cursed to spend the rest of her life as a cat.

Subjecting herself to the hell of dating apps and blind dates, Faelene is stuck in a hopeless tailspin toward tongue baths and a diet of mice.

Thistleton firefighter Aidan Kennedy, stops by Faelene's bookstore like clockwork. She's had a crush on him since the first time he walked through her door. He's polite and gorgeous but incredibly stoic. Try as she might, Faelene can't seem to break through Aidan's tough exterior.

Aidan is holding onto his own secrets. It isn't until he rescues Faelene in cat form from a tree, that she begins to understand what makes him tick. With the covertly discovered information of Aidan's mutual crush, she hatches a daring scheme involving both her human and cat forms in order to get him to open up.

With Aidan's secrets unlocked can Faelene make a move in time to see if he's her true love? Or will she be doomed to be a cat forever?

I've been some semblance of a writer since 1st grade. That was when I first tasted the delight of getting a book published and reading it aloud to the class with rave reviews. What a power trip for a 7-year-old.

It wasn't until 7th grade that I was highly encouraged by my English teacher to continue writing poetry outside of class assignments. From there I moved on to Literary Club in 8th grade and added short stories to my repertoire.

When high school came around, that was when I discovered the wondrous world of FanFiction. It all went downhill from that point. Numerous teachers in high school loved my work and submitted some of my (safe) pieces for publication. My teachers were the reason that I told myself,

"I can do this. I can be a published author one day."

In college, the trend continued but I pursued a career path in the design sector and writing went on the back burner. That is until a month after THE GREATEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE, in 2022, I decided to start writing once again. It started with FanFic after FanFic, fast and furious.

Writing is my passion, my escape. Always has been, always will be.

I’m not a fantasy girly whatsoever but I’ve been reading witchy and spooky season books all month long so when I saw this on Kindle Unlimited I wanted to read it. It was a cute story but also cringey at times. The spice was all over the place and a bit too much to the point where I was like ummm I didn’t need to know that LOL

Overall it had a good life lesson and was lighthearted and cute for the season.

A local witch must find true love by her 26th birthday or else she will have to endure the curse of becoming a cat forever. It did give me some Sabrina the teenage witch and Salem the cat vibes which was fun and nostalgic!

4.5 ⭐️ This was the perfect light-hearted Halloween book I needed for this year's Spooky day.

There's quite a bit of angst regarding the FMC's curse, but apart from that everything in this book felt romcom-y and perfect. Reading Aiden and Fealine's love story made for the perfect non-scary halloween book.

🌶️🌶️🌶️/5- This book heavily relies on smut as a form of intimacy and connection. It's not a slow-burn, but the characters have been pining for each other for two years once the book starts, so I wouldn't call it insta-lust either.

Un romance divertido, ligero, vainilla pero con escenas picantes.
Por momentos de hace un poco largo y repetitivo pero me divertí.

I was an ARC reader for Spellbound in the Stacks last night and OMG! 🥰✨
This book had me cheesing the whole time! Funny, sweet, and smutty parts all THROUGHOUT this book! Super lovable characters!
Spellbound in the Stacks follows Faelene who is a bookstore owner with a secret! She’s a witch who can turn into a cat. In order for her to not become a cat for the rest of her life she must find her true love before her 26th birthday which is only WEEKS AWAY! She’s exhausted all her options and is beginning to accept her fate when in walks Aiden!
Aiden is a local firefighter and closet cosplaying nerd! His been a regular in Falenes store for a while now because he loves to read and looks forward to her suggestions! While he finds her wildly attractive no right minded woman would want to be seen with such a nerd. So he always has his guard up.
Will either of them be able to break down their walls and let the other in or will they just go their separate ways living 2 totally different lives.

Not much plot. Lots of spice. Some cheesy and cringe moments for sure. Not sure if I’d recommend this book, but a definite change of pace from my typical reads.

Synopsis: Faelene Carey is like any normal young woman; she loves to read, runs her own bookstore, is a witch, and can turn into a cat…? As part of her family’s traditions, Fae has 13 years from her 13th birthday to find the love of her life, otherwise she will turn into a cat permanently. With this fact constantly looming over her head, many failed dating app attempts, and only weeks away from her 26th birthday, she’s convinced that four paws and a fluffy tail are inevitable for her. That is until sexy firefighter and closeted Star Wars and book loving nerd, Aidan Kennedy, rescues her from a tree…while she’s a cat. Instead of freaking out, she uses this situation to her advantage to get closer to the man she’s had a crush on for the last 2 years. The more time Fae and Aidan spend together, the more it feels like they’re under each other's spells. They can’t get enough of one another and spend almost every waking moment together whenever they can. As time goes on, Fae begins to feel guilty for hiding her big secret and feels inclined to tell Aidan everything. Will Aidan be the answer to all of Fae’s prayers to the gods and goddesses? Or will the truth behind her curse ruin what Fae and Aidan have and she’ll end up as a cat forever?

📖 Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

If you’re looking for the perfect book to get you into the cozy autumn and Halloween spirit, with some spicy romance involved, look no further! Spellbound in the Stacks reminded us of the Halloween Disney Channel original movies we knew and loved when we were kids. Except with a delightful amount of NOT so kid-friendly scenes of course. This book had us falling in love with both Faelene and Aidan from the start and we were quickly under their spell rooting for them. We mean a man who loves books, Star Wars, has the personality of a golden retriever, AND is a firefighter??? Count us in! We also enjoyed how often Faelene took initiative and control of most of the spicy scenes rather than Aidan. It was nice to see the female character take the lead in these scenarios which is not something you typically see portrayed! This book was funny, charming, and everything you could think of for a light-hearted Halloween read and we enjoyed every second of watching the magic unfold! The only thing we could say is that the story moved pretty quickly, making it an easy read, however because of this we wish we had gotten a bit more time to know the characters more, because we truly cannot get enough of these two!

Insulting nerd-cred

The spice spices but I very nearly dnf'd this one for how it repeatedly liked to punch down on its own audience. Not sure just how many times the MCs are shocked or surprised that attractive people can like Star Wars and other genre films. Why the self-loathing?

Arc Review | Spellbound in The Stacks by K Iwancio

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

If you’re looking for an adorable cozy fall romance this book is for you! This book had me laughing from the very beginning and had me swooning kicking my feet up in the air till the very last page. This author knows how to make the ultimate book boyfriends! Honestly every single character within this book no matter how big or small their role was had me wanting to learn more about them! Adian is a nerdy, hunky firefighter that finds himself always tongue tied when it comes to Faelene. Not only is this MMC a star wars nerd he’s also a book nerd! Faelene owns the Ink and Parchment bookstore and is always recommending Adian books to read, and ladies he reads them and does his homework! He brought out all the stops and my made sure Faelene knew he was paying attention.😏 Before they can be together they find themself racing against the clock to break a curse. That’s right a curse! Did I forget to mention Faelene is a witch and has to break a curse or else she’ll be turned into a black cat forever?! 🐈‍⬛🧙🏼‍♀️🪄

A few highlights;

"You know. I read a lot?"

“This woman had me bewitched from the start.”

“It was at that moment that all of my dreams were confirmed. Faelene was perfection. I could only hope that she felt the same way after that life-altering experience.”

Thank you to the author for an e-ARC of this book!

Spellbound in the Stacks follows a bookstore owner who is also a witch with the power to turn into a cat. She has a curse that if she does not find true love by a certain birthday, she will turn into a cat forever. She's got her eyes on a hot bookstore customer, yet feels that he doesn't like her. Through a hilarious lost cat situation, she sees a new (and attractive) side of him. Will she break this curse or stay a cat forever?

This is the PERFECT fall read. It has all the markers of an autumnal read- an engaging plot with an imminent threat of not breaking a curse, loveable and attractive characters, and banter that had me kicking my feet and giggling. I would recommend this book to lovers of bookstores, romance with a splash of spice, insta-love fans, and those who love Obi-Wan Kenobi (iykyk hehe).

This was super cute and just the right amount of spice. It’s cheesy in the best way, like a Halloween hallmark movie and those were the vibes I needed.

Faelene is a bookstore owner and just so happens to also be a witch. A generational curse looms over her head as she nears the ripe old age of 26 and has yet to find true love. What happens if she doesn’t find true love? Well she will spend the rest of her years as a cat.

Aidan is a sweet and nerdy albeit hunky fireman, who loves to read but is too shy to make a move on Faelene. After he accidentally rescues her from a tree while she’s napping in cat form she decides to make a move on him.

Sparks fly and the spice is spicing but are things serious enough between them for Faelene to escape the family curse?

I was given the opportunity to review this book! And let me tell you it did not disappoint! “Spellbound in the stacks” is the perfect way to kick off spooky season. This story follows Faelene, a bookstore owner and witch who also turns into a cat 🐈‍⬛, she has very little time to find true love before she’s stuck in her cat form forever!

Along comes Aiden, your golden retriever boy, who is everything you could as for in a MMC, a hot firefighter and closeted cosplayer, reads and takes notes on all things 👀🌶️. Please do yourself a favor and read this book! Find out for yourself if Faelene can find true love, or will be stuck as a cat for good. It is so good!

Overall rating: 5🌟, this book got me out of the worst book slump
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Faelene is a witch whose family turns into a cat permanently on their 26th birthday. She’s getting dangerously close and all the dates she goes on are awful. Luckily she has a her eye on a patron of her bookshop. Will they fall in love in time?

Ok so the story is ok. The writing is ok. Spicy scenes are more abundant than plot that’s for sure. It’s a little cheesy for me. Like he’s supposed to be this attractive firefighter who also can sew his own cosplay costumes for Star Wars characters. AND apparently this is a huge turn off for most girls. I don’t follow.

Overall it’s a quick easy read. Would recommend if you like cheesy romance with a lot of spice.

Uhmmmm another win by this gem of an author! I don't know why this wasn't the first one of hers I picked up because every single thing about this book was everything that I love.

A witch who is also a cat, who is also a bookstore owner??? A potential curse that could change her whole life? And a cute and spicy love story where she finds her nerdy, cosplaying, book loving man to tie it all together???

It gave me a mix of Bewitched (the Will Ferrell version) and Sabrina the Teenage Witch (Melissa Joan Hart version) vibes.

What is not to love?!

These characters like all of her characters are just sooo soooo easy to fall in love with. And the banter that she writes... *chefs kiss*

I couldn't ask for more. But guess what?! We're getting more because as we speak she's writing Spells and Wedding Bells which is... You guessed it... A SEQUEL! So ya know... Be prepared for me to gush all about that one when the time comes.

I already know I'm going to love it. More of Faelene and Aidan is what I NEED this year.

Thank you so much for bringing these characters to life, K. Iwancio!

This is a "Stuff Your Kindle" read and it didn't disappoint, so much so I'll be reading the second book!

Faelene is a bookstore owner with a cursing secret, if she doesn't find love before her 13th birthday after her first transition, she's doomed to be a cat forever. Hopefully, Aiden will be able to prevent that.

I thought this book had high moments and then really low moments, whether it be a personal character quirk I had or just the writing. Overall, I liked it enough to keep reading it, and will read the second book!

This book is a 4.5 ⭐️ for me!

K! This book is heavenly. It’s a warm cup of apple cider and a nice fat piece of apple pie with vanilla•bean ice cream on top.

I’m honestly obsessed with the way you manage to pull readers into your stories. Aidan is my favorite cinnamon roll-golden retriever book boyfriend this year. He was a beautiful mix of sweet & sexy. Faelene is living the life I want. A bookstore owner & a witch?! & she bagged Aiden - yeah, sign me up.

I have nothing but praises for this book.
The only disappointment was me not reading this sooner.
I’m ready for book 2!

Just the right amount of pages and low stakes to get you out of a reading funk. Had me giggling and kicking my feet with the cute romance between witch and firefighter. Lots of humor some spice. 5/5 for enjoyment alone.

It was a super cute, easy to read, smutty witchy romance. The only reason I gave it three stars is because I wanted more. It all was very fast, and I wanted more on the characters, more on the magic, more on the curse. Spice was a good 3.5/5 in my opinion.

Hmm… The story was too fast-paced and… I mean there honestly wasn’t much “story” to the book🌝

It was 99% spice and 1% storyline, which I honestly don’t mind but the book sometimes made me feel really iffy. Maybe it’s just me, still kinda liked the book
