Grayson Carter, y’all! I've been a fan since But He’s My Grumpy Neighbor, and this book only made me love him more. Grayson and Sloane are a perfect match—opposites who balance each other out. And when Sloane told Gray she loved every part of him, even after seeing his dark moment? My heart melted!
This book was exactly what I needed—funny, cute, and with just the right amount of drama to keep me hooked.

This story was the sweetest little ray of sunshine! It was warm & homey - and man oh man I loved it!

And him being SO GONE for her *melting*
Grayson’s flirtatious nature was so fun to watch as he was trying to get a rise out of Sloane. But knowing that she was truly it for him was *chefs kiss*
Sloane’s more laid back, shy nature was such an opposite from Grayson but I loved that he brought out of her shell in a way that still let her be completely herself. Just more confident and comfortable in the choices SHE made.
Both of their character growth was great, even in their short storyline. 👏🏻
WE LOVE OPEN COMMUNICATION AND FAMILY MOMENTS!
I don’t know what else to say than I LOVED THIS BOOK! I loved the anxiety rep! I loved the romance! I love the Carter family!

This book was ABSOLUTELY precious. I loved Grayson and Sloane together. There was just this perfect easiness between them and their chemistry was insane in the best way. I loved that they really became friends first and shared the deepest parts of each other. The way they communicated was so so good and how they helped each other deal with their respective anxieties was just the sweetest thing. The beachy summer vibes totally spoke to my heart. If you’re looking for the softest, sweetest romance that will absolutely make you giddy and smile — this is it!

Like most readers, I’ve adored Grayson ever since we met him in MJ’s book! His golden retriever energy is endearing and yet he’s got a strongly honed protective side for his family (& Sloane!). He and Sloane were adorably matched. Sloane’s shyness and social anxiety were something I related to, and it was super sweet to watch her open up with Grayson. The Carter family dynamic will forever be a favourite (& I wished we’d gotten more of them)! I have to confess to skimming a few of the make out scenes as they were a little much for me personally, but that’s minor.
Annah’s storytelling never disappoints, bringing heart & humour to life!

I've been reading this series out of order. I read book one and then book four. Now, after reading But He's My Fake Fiancé, I only have book two to read. Reading the books out of order has not been a problem for me. So far, I have loved each and every story. I've listened to the audio books for these novels and really enjoyed the narrators.
I loved that this was a "he falls first" trope. The hero of the story was such an open and enthusiastic extrovert, but he truly ended up being the perfect match for the heroine of the story, who was shy and introverted. These two just worked so well together and it was so fun to see their love story develop amid a fake engagement and forced proximity set up.
I adored this story from start to finish.
I loved that this was a "he falls first" trope. The hero of the story was such an open and enthusiastic extrovert, but he truly ended up being the perfect match for the heroine of the story, who was shy and introverted. These two just worked so well together and it was so fun to see their love story develop amid a fake engagement and forced proximity set up.
I adored this story from start to finish.

This might be my favorite Annah Conwell book!! 🤩 I adored Grayson from the first book he appeared in and couldn’t wait for his story. He and Sloane were great characters and fit together so well! Grayson is so swoony. 😍 I felt for him and his anxiety. Something about the happy, goofy characters secretly struggling hurts so bad. 😭 I related to Sloane and her shyness a lot and reading this book made me think the right man will be able to break me out of my shell and learn to be a little more adventurous. 😆

I have been waiting for Grayson's story and But He's My Fake Fiancé did not disappoint!! While each book could be read as a stand-alone novel, I highly recommend reading this series in order.

This story is absolutely precious! While it is a rom-com, it also deals with heavier topics, but in the best possible way. I loved Sloane and Grayson. They brought out the best in each other while supporting each other through hard times.

Oh how I just absolutely adore this book!
Now before I get too far into this review, know that you can totally read this as a stand alone however, it is just the best to read it as a series so you get to see Grayson from the beginning.

Grayson has been one of my favorite characters since he was introduced. He is extroverted, fun, charismatic, and just the ultimate sunshine and cinnamon roll. Like he just makes everyone happy. But the more books you read with him in it you get to see who he is behind the mask of sunshine. And I am thrilled I finally got to read his book to get to know the true Grayson.
As most people know that follow me I struggle with anxiety and like Grayson I hide it well. I can hit record, put on a smile, point to the beat, and seem so joyful. But the truth is some days my anxiety is crippling. And so seeing a character like Grayson who reminds me so much of myself was just emotional to say the least.
I love that we got to see him fall in love, but more than that we see him find someone to support him through the good days and the bad ones.
Sloane is just the perfect woman for Grayson and I couldn't have picked anyone better for him. I love that they just could banter and help each other to laugh and let go of their anxiety. I love that Grayson could help Sloane gain confidence and help her choose things for herself without feeling pressured. They just have so many sweet moments that just made my heart soar.
I love that we got to see them in forced proximity due to the fake engagement and that we even get the one bed trope. I love that it is a slow burn but that there is always tension building. The kisses when they finally happened were sizzling and just so perfect!
I love that Grayson not only cherishes Sloane, but he also is the best protective hero! Like seeing him protect her was everything! Then you have all the nicknames he gives her and just ahhh just read this book so we can go through each moment together!
Annah’s writing just keeps getting better and better! And this is definitely my favorite book yet from her!

Every book just keeps getting better and better. But what I truly loved about But He's My Fake Fiance was the prose.
Annah Conwell has a way with words and this book is her showing off. The story just flowed like a song, the words and feelings of the characters flowing into your heart, bringing you to tears and to a deep understanding of the care and love they have. You're brought to the depths of anxiety and back up to the highs of new love.
The romance was swoony, and the healing and emotional growth of the characters was stunningly touching.
Can we also talk about how BOTH characters are bookish? Loved it. Loved every second of it.
Of course I loved Grayson. And there are way too many things about the book and about Grayson that I loved to include in this review. Basically all expectations were exceeded when it came to this book and his love story. We had three books to already fall in love with Grayson as a side character, but now that he is the main one it's even better.
Can we also mention Sloane? She is soooo relatable! I absolutely loved her and her healing and growth. She was so sweet and I could absolutely see myself in her and her ability to be brave and courageous was inspiring.
All the family moments in the book just brought so much more fun and depth to the story. Absolutely in love with this family.
I don't know if I have the eloquence to say more or explain how fantastic this book is in the English language.
Every book gets better but this one definitely has a special place in my heart ❤️

Loved this! Gray and Sloane are so cute together and I loved how there was little to none inside drama in their relationship, only outside one (does that make sense??). While we did have hints that Grayson was more than just a playboy in the previous books, I still wasn't super excited for his story but he definitely convinced me otherwise 🫶🏻 He's so obviously gone for Sloane from page one and he's just such a green flag overall 🥹

I was so excited for Grayson and Sloane’s story and I was not disappointed! I love how much of a reader Grayson was and how that played into his feelings for Sloane. The nicknames were fantastic!

This one was by far my most favorite out of the series. It makes me consider going to Hawaii as the next duty station. My hubby was begging me to go there for a while now 😂

I loved this book so much, it was super cute and it made me so happy to read. Their dynamic was so cute and the way they supported each other was adorable. I appreciated that there was no third act breakup or misunderstanding. If you are looking for a sweet easy read this book is perfect.

Fake, not-so-fake dating trope is so on brand for the happy-go-lucky Grayson.
He’s been my favorite brother so far so I enjoyed this book more than the others, and the “slow” burn didn’t feel slow at all.
My main critique of this whole series so far is how all of these romances are love at first sight, which is too unrealistic to me.

3.5 ⭐️. I love Grayson and I’m glad he got his happy ending but the story felt a little rushed to me. I feel that they fell in love too quickly and hadn’t experienced enough together first.

Grayson has been my favorite Carter Brother since reading MJ's story. There are so many grumpy/sunshine romances and .... I love me a grump, but oh my was Grayson's happy personality such a treat. And genuine. Being an extrovert myself, I really appreciated how he struggled with people think he was flirting with them all the time. Sometimes, being friendly gets misconstrued and it can be difficult to convince people in your life that you actually know when you're flirting and when you're not.
And Sloane! Could she have been anymore adorable? We must protect this woman at all costs. I LOVED her character growth and that she was a writer! But i loved even more that her being a writer was kind of in the background, rather than it being THE THING about her. She came off the page as a real woman with real struggles and I just adored her. I've loved all the Carter Brothers, but Grayson will always be my favorite and I'm thrilled he got a love story worthy of all he is as a character!
