Forgettable in Every Way

Rate this book
All it takes is one person to remember you.

A word of advice: never fall in love with an Englishman in New York. If you do, chances are that he’ll captivate your soul and never let you go. Take me, for instance. For the last thirteen years, I’ve heard “So This Is Love” on repeat every time I think of Simon Harrison. If this is love, it kind of sucks. Especially given that Simon only ever saw me as his friend before proceeding to marry my supposed best friend. The worst part is that I thought for once in my life someone saw me. That he saw me. But I was wrong. So wrong.

Or was I?

Thirteen years ago, I made a colossal mistake without even knowing it when I let Jules Carmichael disappear from my life. I had no idea the woman I always thought of as my best mate could have been so much more if I’d only opened my eyes to see what was right in front of me. But now that I find myself divorced and face-to-face with the lovely creature again, she wants nothing to do with me, and it’s driving me mad. If she could only see that I’m not the daft younger man who let her slip away, I have a feeling we could have something unforgettable.

USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Peel presents an unforgettable long-lost friends to lovers story that will curl your toes and warm your heart.

I’m only 7% in, and the MMC is a POS in my jaded fictional man hating opinion. He dropped his best friend/FMC the second he saw the OW 13 years before and basically forgot about her. I don’t think forgot is a strong enough word for it though. More like abandoned. Then when he sees her again he doesn’t even remember her name. To give him the benefit of the doubt, he approached her because she seemed familiar. But honestly that just made it worse for me, as now you let that person know how insignificant they really were to you.

Then we read his thoughts and he actively chose a superficial woman and settled with her for years, and while he was unhappy he still chose to have a baby with OW anyway. Only to find out HE wasn’t the one to end the marriage. It was the OW who just decided it, out of the blue, a year before. He would still be with her, living in committed misery otherwise. He seems so selfish and shallow, and most importantly weak, I’m not sure how he can be a MMC.

21% UPDATE

So far this book SCREAMS second choice. Now that the MMC has gotten the beautiful woman for his wife and mother out of his system he can see something more out of the person he didn’t see anything in before. Now that he is no longer in the limelight and is settling down for home and hearth, he wants the quiet and steadfast, trusty old bestie he left in his dust wake as he chased the tight assed bitch he gave the highest position in a man’s life too. I am positive I am not going to like this book.

64% UPDATE

And we still haven’t gotten the main couple together or any explanations as to what happened or why the MMC dropped the FMC like a hot potato, other than he liked a tight ass more then the FMC or his friendship with her. I originally thought that the exOW/wife would be revealed as having sabotaged their communications to each other or undermined the MMC’s friendship to the FMC, but so far nope. It has only been shown that it was all the MMC’s fault and all the OW had to do was show up ONCE and the MMC acted like he was ten years old and she had exposed her boobs to him and he was hypnotized and simply didn’t look away ever again. Like damn, was he a virgin or something to explain the extreme response and ghosting of anyone else in his life? This happens with teenagers and the first person they get frisky with (in essence pu$$ywhipped). But he wasn’t, he was an adult chasing his career. How did he even manage to focus on his career with this kind of tunnel vision?

Anyway, what I keep coming back to is that he didn’t end his miserable marriage, it was the exOW/wife who ended it. The MMC never would have left her. And the ONLY reason he hasn’t gotten back with his ex is because for reasons unknown she told him after their divorce that she had been cheating on him throughout their marriage. Still, we have next to no background on these characters to explain the timeline of events better so it’s mostly vague pieces of their history being dropped randomly in the story with no further insights to those events.

The MMC also didn’t look for the FMC. He hadn’t thought about her at all in ALL those years and if they hadn’t run into each other out of the blue, the MMC would never have thought of her again. This book has a terrible storyline that has gotten worse with every well written page. This is not a story I can like.

70% UPDATE

I feel like I’m getting punked. Idk if I’m reading this book with the wrong mindset or if this author is seriously trying to make the reader believe that it’s okay to be someone’s second choice. I can’t wrap my head around the supposed “romance” of this book. The main couple finally kissed for the first time and then thanked each other for it. Blink blink blink…

I just don’t know what the point of this story is. lol.

FINAL UPDATE

So besides this storyline being childish for the characters ages it had the nerve, the utter gall(!), to be a CLEAN read. Considering how much I hated the MMC, I didn’t even get the passion the characters supposedly had for each other. WTF!?!

Look, this author is a wonderful writer. If she hadn’t been it wouldn’t have kept me coming back, wanting to know how do you explain away being forgotten and overlooked. And while it did have a sweet HEA ending to this couple’s story, it absolutely did not hit any of the spots I need it to, either to like it or to recommend it. I’m going to post a crap ton of highlights that will show my gripes with nearly everything with this story. I mean I picked it apart, desperately looking to find that sweet spot that makes it all acceptable and maybe, just maybe, forgivable. But it didn’t.

We never got an answer to why the MMC ghosted the FMC like he did, other than he was immature and the OW was just that much more attractive to him at the time. It doesn’t explain how he kept his guard up against any feelings for the FMC or anyone really, but dropped his walls like they weren’t his sole motivation at that point in his life the second the OW showed her face. It doesn’t explain why he never left the OW/wife on his own accord. Why he even had a kid with her if he wasn’t happy with his life during his time with her. He mentions for a blip that his career goals didn’t pan out because his OW/wife didn’t accept him being another star in their shared life. That basically means she hindered his potential, sabotaging his ambitions. But we still have no back story to explain his time with her.

They were together for thirteen years and his son was only five. That means that even eight years into his life with OW, he still wanted her, over his career or anything else. So it comes back to my point that the FMC was a second choice. And quite a few times in this book it came off like he just wanted her as a better mother to his child. So that makes the FMC his fourth choice for the MMC. The FMC is placed behind his career, the OW/wife, then his son. Like would he even have bothered to pursue the FMC, if there wasn’t a bond between the FMC and his son?

So much was just coincidental and convenient for the MMC to NOW, after thirteen years and a child with someone else, to be interested in the FMC. I just couldn’t get past it. The author never made her argument for this being a romance to me. It came off as settling for the MMC. He was happy about it sure. He found a good one the second time around. The FMC finally got her wish but it just wasn’t “the one that got away”, “the one” kind of romance.

Lastly, the “standing up for yourself” moments in this book really weren’t that great. That scene at the birthday party where the MMC put the ex wife/OW supposedly in her place was barely worth reading. It was too easy and boring. Honestly there was nothing exciting in this book. The only good thing was likable characters and the princess jewel and fairy stories the main couple told the kid. Those were the most interesting parts.

I also haven’t touched on the ridiculousness of the FMC’s family treating her like she was a well behaved invisible servant that they didn’t have to consider but expected her to always sacrifice for them whenever they needed something. They thought “oh she is so good and undemanding we can skip all her graduations and birthdays and any of her events and interests all of her life because we are mad at each other, but wait, let us have her pack up our family mansion all by herself like she doesn’t have a job in another state, or like we can’t afford movers, or like we don’t have other kids to expect anything from, on top of not giving her the one thing she asked for out of the whole damn house (piano), and tell her your giving it to one of their other no piano playing children/siblings because she will “understand” as if she isn’t a human being with feelings, let alone one of the family, and therefore doesn’t really matter to the FMC’s mom, dad and siblings “. lol. Yeah I haven’t even begun to break down that shitshow in the story.

Anyway, after I post the highlights I will never read this book again. It wasn’t for me based on the plot premise. Being forgotten by everyone in your life is not something that can be resolved in such a shallow story as this. Where the MMC would be trading a cheating narcissist for an insecure desperate introvert doesn’t seem like a good move to me. Which is probably on par for the MMC’s usual life choices. I really don’t think I was in the right mind frame for this book. It just didn’t sit right with me from page one. Good luck.

You travel with a friend for nine months… enough to fill an entire scrapbook and he doesn’t remember your name? You were somewhere WITH him, a pretty girl walks in and he ignores you and then never speaks to you or thinks about you again? Seriously? How desperate and insecure Jules had to be to give Simon a chance! My gosh. Have some self respect. I just couldn’t get into this romance. Jules was incredibly insecure and based her entire personality on what people think about her and Simon needed more than good hair and a cute kid to redeem himself after how he acted. It just was too little, too late. They both need therapy more than a relationship.

(Maybe 1.5 stars?) Once upon a time long ago I think I read a Jennifer Peel romance. Don't remember it but this one was under a dollar, so why not? But here's my review of this one:

Please note the title of this book: Forgettable in Every Way. You may consider that title to be my review of what I read.

This sounded so promising and I was looking forward to it. But it fell short in so many areas for me. I just couldn’t connect with the characters relationship or Simon even. They were apart for 13 years and he not once thought about her, tired to contact her and she fell off the face of the earth as soon as he saw the BF. Then he’s all for her when he finally sees her… he’s just irredeemable for me. Has so much promise

I'd like to commend the author, rarely do I see such a fitting title for a book because really the h was forgettable in every way.....to the H! 😂🤭

From reviews
He couldn't even remember his friend, never thought of her, never sought her out but yet I'm to be convinced that they'll have a HEA? 🙄😒
Also he was married to another woman for years and SHE ended things! Had she not, where would the h be? 😂

Let's just start with a Big Ol' Happy Sigh for this book!!! Oh my heart just adored it so much. So many emotions felt while reading this one! I love Jules's character! She's amazing and strong and resilient. I loved watching her as a secondary character in My Ex-mas Emergency and thinking about her story, wanting to know what could cause this sweet and kind and good and giving and loving character to be invisible and forgotten.

And I'm going to tell you that my heart ached for her while reading this book and learning even more about her. Yes, I cried. I couldn't help it. Some of her emotions and struggles can definitely be felt by everyone. I loved how Jennifer Peel writes the characters of her books and can have you feeling the struggles and emotions of those characters. I definitely felt them while reading Jules's story.

If you haven't read the book I mentioned about that Jules was a secondary character in, you'll be ok to read this one, but there's stuff in it that I think you'd enjoy seeing and learning a little more about Jules before getting to her story. And I just love that book, so there is that! And Calista is in that one. And she's awesome! Calista is a secondary character in this book and I'm sooooo happy we got to see more about her and her friendship with Jules is the best! I was talking with one of my book friends who has also read this book, and we both said we want to be besties with Calista and Jules! They're the best and I know we'd have a blast, but more importantly, I know they'd always have my back and be there for me for anything! Thankfully I truly do have real friends like that. But I think you'll want to be their besties as well when you read this book. Just sayin'!

And Simon, what to say about Simon? He definitely was very daft to begin with and I loved that he admitted that over and over again to Jules. But sometimes a heart has been hurt and broken and hidden away that it needs time and proof. And boy, oh boy, when Simon says he's going to pursue her, you're going to love what's in store! *smirks* So his daftness gets betters and you're going to love him. And all that comes with him.

Let's just say that there are the best scenes in this book. So many great adventures. Bike riding, time at the lake, exploring the island, cleaning the garage, a tour around town, breakfast, a bee sting (mwahahaha), music (especially one specific Cinderella song *sigh*), Princess Jules, darling and adorable Jack (seriously melt my heart and bring on all the feelings), heartaches and healing, true love and soooo much more, especially the big reveal of if she is Jules the Spy or not (Calista is convinced *grins*)!!!

Seriously, just get ready for a sweet love story with unforgettable characters who will tug at your heartstrings and have you cheering, laughing, snorting, crying and sighing throughout this book!

Content: There are some mild swear words throughout the book (Simon is British and throws out some words). Kissing and mild innuendos.

I received a copy from the author. But you can bet I'll be purchasing my own copy to sit upon my shelves! All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

I hate it when a book blurb is deliberately misleading. The blurb made it sound like Simon cared deeply for Jules and had spent years regretting losing touch with her. The truth was that he literally forgot she existed the second he laid eyes on her “best friend”, Penelope, and didn’t even notice when Jules got up and walked out of the coffee shop. He also said that he only had “vague recollections” of her and that “he hadn’t even noticed” when she vanished from his life. He also admitted that he hadn’t even bothered to look at the photo album, the gift she gave him the last time he saw her. In fact, when he ran into her again, he couldn’t even remember her name!

Have you ever felt unseen? Or forgettable? I have. I mean I’m a mom and a woman. Both empowering roles that I love, but there are also unseen days.

I’d like to introduce you to Jules. She has a friendship on the verge of wonderful when life shuts the door on her and leaves her forgettable.

Simon was the idiot who shut the door. Actually he didn’t even remember there was a door. So yeah. Not cool. When they reconnect years later both of them get a chance to write a new story.

Peel delivers all the swoon and all the angst. And a person to dislike. She also is the queen of second chances and that’s my fav. I can gush about every little part that made me smile and laugh and want to stomp my feet and point fingers. And then there are the happy sighs.

My heart was filled with Jules and I was so proud of her growth. She really spoke to me personally. And seeing all our old Aspen Lake friends again was awesome.

Simon. Oh Simon. Simon says... All the ❤️🔥things. Trust me girls.

It’s filled with the romcomy things that Peel never fails to bring so you do not want to forget to add this book to your TBR!!

See if Jules can be seen by the people who love her most. Will love become unforgettable or burned like toast?

Considering all I have been reading lately is soapy drama, this was a bit of a palate cleanser.

H was besties with h 13 years ago, but never really saw her. H gets dazzled by h's bff and forgets all about h. h is used to everyone, family included, disregarding, forgetting or overlooking her.

When H & h see each other after 13 years, he can't even remember her name.

Grovel = H has to convince h that he really sees her and that she is not forgettable. He has help from h's friend and mother to keep inserting himself in h's life to convince her that he is into her. Eventually h believes it and has some growth in her view of herself.

OW drama = mild, very mild from the bff who H married and had a kid with. In reality, H would have still been married to OW is she had not asked for divorce. It is glossed over, but H said several times that is was OW who divorced him and later he finds out that OW had multiple affairs while married. H is hurt by the revelation that he was never enough for the OW. Honestly, is OW had not left him, I think they would still be married and H seeing the h after 13 years seems like settling. IMO.

Not a strong H, not a strong h, and there could have been more angst and drama, but that is not the style of this author.

Aspen Lake (and its residents) is a place that has my heart. We first met Jules in My Ex-Mas Emergency and I was so curious about her and her story. Why is she so forgettable?

I don’t know why it is that some people just can’t truly see others, and I think that’s a fact that every single person can relate to at one time or another. My heart hurt for Jules and related to her because like her, I’ve felt like I’m forgettable, unseen and unimportant at times, but the growth and realizations she undergoes are so beautiful and there are lessons in her lessons for everyone. And the real fact is, Jules is a pretty amazing character. In this book, Peel shows us just how sweet and memorable Jules actually is. She has a top secret job, she loves deeply, she’s a super fun person to be around, and she’s like a princess–speaking to and attracting both children and animals.

I can’t say enough about Simon and Jack, as they are the epitome of acceptance and true love. Who wouldn’t want a Simon in her life? Between the accent, silky smooth voice, the way he chases her…this man is gold. The connections and interactions between Simon, Jules and Jack are what dreams are made of and will make your heart sing “so this is love.”

This love story is big and deep, and completely unforgettable in all the ways.

Content: mild romance (make outs, some innuendo); mild language

5+ Stars!

Y'all. I can't even with this book! I. Can't. Even! Where do I begin to tell you how much I absolutely ADORED this book?! From the moment I picked it up and started reading, I instantly knew I was going to have the hardest time putting it down! The world around me ceased to exist and I was immersed in all things Jules, Simon, and Jack! I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved these three!

Jules and Simon have a bit of history together. It all started in New York when Simon forgot his wallet and Jules ended up buying him a cup of coffee. What happened next was the best 9 months of Jules' life... until dear sweet, sweet little Penelope (read in the most sarcastic voice possible) pushed her way into Simon's life and Jules became a distant memory.

But a chance meeting on the beach ten years later has Cinderella and Joan Jett battling it out in Jules' head, Simon opening his eyes to see what could have been, little Jack going on endless adventures to help Princess Jewels remember the Daft Prince, and Fate taking control of it all to make sure the long awaited happily ever after finally happens. All I can say is sit down, buckle up, and enjoy the rollercoaster ride called Forgettable in Every Way!

Gah! You guys! I NEED a THOUSAND more pages of Jules, Simon, and Jack! I never wanted this book to end! Definitely one that I will be reading over and over and over and did I mention over again?! *dreamy sigh* Absolute PERFECTION!

And it would be remise of me not to mention Calista. Y'all. I love her! She's the perfect best friend! We all need a Calista and Jules in our lives! #FriendshipGoals!

Just when I think I have found my new favorite book by Ms. Peel, she releases another one that blows me away, has me swooning like a school girl, and turning me into a big ol' pile of goo. Gah! I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

As for my casting... *dreamy sigh* Oh how I love these two! They are perfect! Wouldn't you agree?!

I guess we're not really past the idea that being a strong woman means taking shit from your parents and other people without complaint. And the supermodel-like-MC- thinks-she's-dull trope

Look, I love reading about an MMC messing up and, sure, not noticing the protagonist. But any chance of any romantic vibes was killed off when he made his main goal reminding us at every chance how he immediately ignored her as soon as he met her friend, then never remembered her until he saw her many years later and, not even bothering to open her parting gift 💀

The least I expected was him falling harder for her and following her around like a puppy while she didn't give him any thought. Instead, she's still in love with him after everything and years without contact

This premise had so much potential and could be so much fun if the author remembered this was a romance book

love and hate it/possible spoilers

Great premise for a story. That’s what I love. I’m glad he had to work for forgiveness. Being the invisible girl is so relatable and the catty mean girl taking what you want. On the other hand, what a jerk he was. She was his best friend in New York and he didn’t even miss that she left? Didn’t get invited to the wedding? Not that she would go but c’mon. Jack was 5 or 6. That means he stayed with that conniving witch for 5-6 years without a kid to keep them together because it’s 12 years until they meet again. He really doesn’t deserve Jules. Then author leaves us hanging on the golfing meet up. So much more could’ve happened in this story

The plot of the book didn't make up for the premise. If I am to believe that she spent 9 months falling in love with him and they spent all that time together and he IMMEDIATELY forgets she exists when he sees her friend, then there needs to be some sort of epic explaining of why he never fell for her and why they should be together when there was so little pull between them. If they didn't even have enough chemistry for him to notice her for 9 MONTHS, and he ghosted her after he met OW, and they had zero contact for 13 years, and he never tried to see her again ever, and he didn't even remember her name when they met again, and he has a son with OW, and he would still be with OW if she hadn't left him....
That's A LOT of reasons why they don't belong together. And nothing about the plot of the book makes me believe otherwise.
This is the story of a pathetically insecure woman and the man who settles for her.

DNF’ed at 60%. Totally a me thing but life’s too short to keep reading.

If MMC calls someone “love” one more time I’m going to vomit. It’s just an affectation at this point and not endearing.

He says in beginning that FMC was comfortable while the ex-wife was enthralling and keeps reminding us how he just realized now that FMC is beautiful. It almost seems like he likes that she liked him but now won’t pay attention to him and she’s mom material. Blech.

If he mentions her indigo eyes one more time…

And FMC just such a doormat. She’s finally starting to show her backbone but I’m not that interested in story anymore.

With her feeling forgettable and invisible better story would have been new man noticing her rather than second chance romance who chose the flashier woman and regrets it.

Unforgettable

I feel for Jules feeling invisible in her own life. There were so many tender moments with Simon and with her family. It brought me to tears. Happy tears.
I loved Simon with his accent, his narrating skills, and each and every way he showed Jules that she was worth noticing. Jack was precious, as was his love for his favorite bedtime story.
I also loved the cameo appearances from Calista and Josie. Calista rocks!
This book is unputdownable!

Content: a handful of swears (mostly ones that aren’t as strong to a Brit), mild innuendo

It would have been better if the h did have relationships throughout when he went with the ow and how could he have forgotten who she was? I didn't like that he would have still been with ow if she hadn't divorced him and if they were best friends why did he forget about her? It would have been better if she had a boyfriend at the beginning and made him feel like she did when he went off with the ow.

Sweet second chance romance
Jules, Simon (and Jack) make a cute love story with Jules coming back to Aspen Lake with her mysterious ‘spy girl’ work for just six months with Calista and Tristan’s love story proving the backdrop for the whole thing.
It starts with Jules proclaiming to Winston that she feels invisible and the story moves to her meeting with Simon, a voice-over artist.
With the story of Princess Jules and the Daft Prince, the story takes a cute turn in the form of Jack and Penelope comes into the story.
The story also explains Jules relationship with her own parents and also how that progresses through the days.
Cute lovely, enjoyable romance.

Simon refers to the 13 years he ignored Jules for as several years multiple times! Like I’m sorry mate, but I don’t think you’re actually redeemable. Jules growth in her relationship with her parents was a much more touching part of this story, that at times had me crying. But the speed in which all of this happened after being completely ignored for 14 years just didn’t sit right with me.

“Remember who you are, and then you show yourself and the world that woman. That woman is unforgettable in my book.”

This story is lovely in every way, and I absolutely adored it! I fell in love with Jules as a secondary character in My eX-Mas Emergency, and I’m so glad she gets her own story!

12 years after her best friend Simon seemed to instantly forget her and marry her former best friend, they see each other again at Aspen Lake. Simon is now divorced and has the cutest little five year old boy.

Jules has such a beautiful heart, but seems to be invisible and unseen to everyone, including her parents. When Simon wants to rekindle their friendship, she’s not about to let him break her heart again.

Fortunately, Simon has grown up, and now realizes just how unforgettable Jules truly is, and he’s going to make sure she knows it.

I loved the characters, the second chance romance, and the fun and flirty dialogue, but more than anything, I love this sweet woman who, for a time, forgot who she was, but finds herself again.

Another beautiful aspect of the story was the strong friendship between her and Calista. She was one of the few people who actually saw how incredible Jules was, and she was such a loyal and fierce friend to her. We all need a Calista in our corner!

What I loved:
💗 Single dad
💗 Second chance romance
💗 Jack—cutest little boy
💗 Strong female friendship
💗 The photo album
💗 ‘I’m going to chase you’
💗 Finding out Spy Girl’s occupation
💗 Calista and Tristan’s wedding
💗 The proposal
💗 Closed door
💗 HEA

Jennifer always does an exceptional job with second chance romances, and this one is another winner!

I received an ARC from the author, but a positive review was not required.

Forgettable in Every Way by Jennifer Peel – A Decent Second-Chance Romance, but Not a Favorite

Okay, so this book was… fine. It had some sweet moments, and I do love a second-chance romance, but it didn’t completely grip me. It was one of those books that I wanted to love, but in the end, I just liked it—nothing more, nothing less.

Jewel and Jack’s relationship? Definitely the highlight for me. I loved their history, the way they had all this unspoken tension, and those little moments where you could feel their connection. Jack, in particular, really stood out—he had that perfect mix of charm and depth that makes a second-chance hero work. Their chemistry was there, and I was rooting for them, even when the story itself wasn’t fully pulling me in.

But the rest? Meh. Some of the other characters and plot choices felt a little frustrating. I didn’t hate anything, but I also didn’t have that screaming, crying, I need more feeling. The story had all the right ingredients, but something about it just didn’t click for me in a big way.

Overall, this was an okay read—nothing I regret picking up, but also nothing I’d be rushing to reread. If you love second-chance romance and don’t mind a story that’s more on the good, not great side, it’s worth a try.

After reading the book “My Ex-mas Emergency” (where you first meet Jules) I was dying to get my hands on her story. Jules is kind and smart and one of those people who somehow fails to receive the attention and love she so deserves, especially by those closest to her. Your heart immediately aches for her, and you can’t help but root for her to find love and true happiness. Jules is still searching for “home”- not a place but a person.

Enter Simon, the only man she has ever truly loved, and things in her world begin to change. He is a great dad, has the cutest son Jack (both with British accents), and learns quickly how much he lost when he let Jules fade from his life.

The book kept my attention and while my toes curled in delight at the swoony romance, my heart felt all the emotions as Jules came to learn she was never quite forgotten- there were so many tender moments with the people in her life! Love gave her the courage to find herself, to not forget her own worth.

I laughed, I cried, I sighed in dreamy delight, I felt Jules’ heartache and triumphs, and truly loved every minute. Now I’m just so sad it’s over. This story has wrecked me in the very best way! Lovely and unforgettable, that’s what it is.

As someone who has been ignored and forgotten her whole life, I was SO EXCITED for this book. I was hoping it was gonna be like Princess Diaries when she said, "You saw me when I was invisible."

Turns out it was nothing like that. He didn't see her at all. He, in fact, states all the time how the FMC is just basic, and the OW was gorgeous and enthralling. Basically, he is like every other real-life man who puts looks first, and when he gets older and suffers the consequences of those choices, then he wants the reliable comforting girl who couldn't turn his head before. THIS is not the anthem for forgotten girls. He did not think of her ONCE in all the years they were gone. He didn't even look at the gift she had given him when they were supposedly friends. He didn't even end the relationship with the OW, the OW did, and he still missed her and pined over her until she admitted to cheating on him during the whole relationship. So basically, the FMC was 2nd choice. Actually, no, not even that, because she wasn't even a thought in his head until long after him and the OW was over because HE COULDN'T EVEN REMEMBER HER NAME!!! So, in the end, she was what was available and comfortable at the time.

No back story or details as to why all the choices were made by OW or MMC. This was just disappointing all around and as a woman living in this world where men get to act like this in reality it's disgusting to see that romance books i escape to, to find a better version of men have now tried to make this bull romantic in fiction too. Nope. No. 🤮

Did not finish

I was so disappointed with this book. It was a “did not finish” for me. I read books in the clean category that has no language in it, or at the most a couple mild language words in it. But there was a lot of mild language than I was comfortable with and it took away the joy of finding out where the story was going. I only got about half way into the book before deciding not to finish.
If you are a British reader then it has what is considered stronger language since the MMC is British and uses British curses.

This was such a fun and flirty book intertwined with plenty of emotions. Single dad. Complicated relationship history between our hero and heroine--and a few secrets thrown in that could possibly derail their second chance at romance. Jules and Simon have so much that has been left unsaid and now they have the opportunity to see what's right in front of them. Can they have a future with their painful past?

Dnf. Maybe this will appeal to some, but I don't have the patience to finish this. For me the language was too stilted, the story too forced, the themes too repetitive, and the "misunderstanding" obvious from the start. I'm also not a big fan of books that suggest you already know one of the primary characters, but aren't listed as part of a series.

That's just me though -- by all means, feel free to disagree.

I love second-chance romances, but since Jules never told Simon how she really felt about him all those years ago this is more like a second first-chance romance. Whatever you want to call it, this romance will tug at your heart.

Jules Carmichael is a woman who has spent over a decade trying to forget the one person who made her feel truly seen—Simon Harrison. The problem? He never saw her that way. Or so she thought. When Jules fell for Simon years ago, he was a charming Brit and blind to her feelings. Worse than that, he married her so-called best friend, leaving Jules emotionally gutted. The story picks up thirteen years later—Simon is now divorced and, unexpectedly, back in Jules’s life—this time with eyes wide open.

I loved the dual POV. We not only get to see Jules's heartache but also Simon's awareness of how badly he messed up. Jules is witty but guards her emotions to protect herself from further pain. Simon shows that he's matured in the past decade and wants a second chance with the woman he stupidly let slip through his fingers.

Things I loved: Jules's friendship with Calista! Theirs is the kind of friendship every woman should have. Adorable little Jack and of course the story of "Princess Jules and the Daft Prince.”

The author does a wonderful job of balancing the angst and humor; Jules's inner monologue is often hilarious. This is a story that’s not just about rekindled romance, but about forgiveness—of others and of oneself. The slow-burn makes every glance, every conversation, fill with longing. This is a charming and heartfelt read that explores the enduring power of love and the courage it takes to rewrite a story that once felt destined for heartbreak.

Content: there are some mild swear words throughout the book (Simon is British and throws out some words). Kissing and mild innuendos.

A mostly cute 'n breezy second chance romance. Jules was the 'forgettable' sibling (meaning she was the easy one who never caused trouble), and this affected her life in many ways, giving her a bit of a 'go along to get along' doormat public personality. Even her job--which is highly specialized and pays extremely well--is one she can't discuss without NDAs in place.

Thirteen years ago, she was in love with her friend Simon, and just as she gave him a gift to confess her love, he met her supposed 'best friend' and fell madly in love without a second glance. Now divorced and disillusioned, he's realizing what a mistake he made just as Jules has decided to give up her doormat persona and get over him once and for all.

There's some funny bits and I mostly liked Jules and her friends. Simon... well, the thing the book wants you to know about Simon is he's British. He's very British. He's the most Britishy Brit whoever Britted. He's got a sexy sexy accent, afternoon tea is sacred, he imports biscuits with ridiculous names, he says 'bloody' and 'sod off' a lot, and he's got an adorable plot moppet child who is ever so precocious and always says just the thing to make Simon and Jules spend more time together.

There's some mild OW drama with the former bestie/ex-wife, and a terrifically painful gut-punch moment at the beginning, OUCH. The ending is quite abrupt, and I wish we'd had a bit more time with them facing the world as a couple.

I was so happy to be back in Aspen Lake. This book gave me all the happy feelings.

Jules is someone who everyone seems to forget, even her family. She is back in her hometown helping taking care of her parents' needs, on the phone with her bestie, Calista (main character in My Ex-Mas Emergency), when she sees her long-lost friend and the man she was in love with.

Jules can't believe her eyes. The last she knew, he had married her ex best friend (who is vile).

When she runs into him, he doesn't even remember her name at first. But she does find out he is divorced and has an adorable son, Jack.

Simon starts to remember the past and how awful he was, not only to the perfect girl but his best mate (PS he is English). He also can't seem to get enough of Jules and realizes what an "arse" he was.

Jules doesn't want to be forgotten again. Will Simon step up this time?

This book is just too good IMO, it gave me everything I needed right now.

I was thrilled to read more about Jules and FINALLY find out her job (read My Ex-mas Emergency).

I just love @jpeel_author's writing style and her characters. I laugh out loud and have tears of joy!

I also couldn't get enough of Simon's little boy. The instant connection with Jules was perfection.

If you want a sweet book that will make you giddy, it is this one.
