My childhood and teen years were in Oakland, MD among the Amish there. When I was 20, I left the Amish and joined the Mennonites, where I met my wife Karen Anderson from CA. I was a teacher in Christian schools for Mennonites for 23 years. We have 5 children, all married now and currently have 8 grandchildren. I have been writing books for 11 years and I travel all over the world to get information for my books. Although I enjoy traveling, vacation for me is to be at home in our little town of Spruce Pine, a friendly community in the mountains of NC, close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

A remarkable account of the life of Mikhail Korev. From his childhood with loving parents. Who prayed over him and constantly witnessed the goodness of God to him. A large section of the book is taken up by his time in prison. He relied on the grace of God, and he had very difficult times. He trusted that God would bring him through, which he did. When he was finally realesed he had spent a long time in prison, the Lord gave him many opportunities to witness for him. I recommend you read this inspiring, God honouring account and buy other copies and pass them on. This is a book that needs to be read and God praised.

I was recommended this book. So I downloaded it and start read I was moved several times in to prayer. As I read more and I welled up. I find it hard that such people do this to others. But he himself would pray for this people who treated him. It has also made me look at my faith.

Also I can’t remember how long ago that I read a book like this that I couldn’t put it down.

This is a wonderfully written biography of the life of Mikhail Khorev. Raised by Godly, Christian parents in the Soviet Union under cruel, atheistic communism and growing up during the second World War, young Mikhail and his sisters endured much suffering. While he was still a boy, his father was arrested and sent to prison where he died less than two years later. His dear mother, though not highly educated, trusted her Lord and Savior and knew her Bible and she passed on her love of the Lord to her four children. She taught them to always rejoice in His love and to be thankful for His mercies and to not question the ways of God.

This is the inspiring story of how Mikhail Khorev grew to be a mighty man of God even as he struggled amidst the cruelty and injustices of communism in the Soviet Union. He was willing to suffer years of imprisonment for the God who loved him and considered it but a small price to pay. This is a faith strenghtening book, to say the least!

Harvey Yoder's books always spiritually challenge and inspire. A SMALL PRICE TO PAY certainly does so, in telling the (true) life story of Mikhail Khorev, a Christian living in communist, atheist Russia.

Mikhail grew up in a faithful Christian family in the 1930s, a time of great depravation. Stalin was starving his own people with an artificial famine and severely persecuting Christians. As a young man, Mikhail began to see that it was time to leave the "registered" (government-controlled) church in order to rightly worship and serve the Lord. He was eventually commissioned by the unregistered church to preach and teach the true gospel throughout Russia. Mikhail faithfully carried out this commission despite the constant danger and the frequent separations from his family. As Mikhail states many times, "It is a small price to pay for what Christ has done for my salvation. Jesus has done much more for me than I can ever do for Him!"

Biography of a leader in the unregistered church in the USSR during communist rule. Led me to think about how easy my Christian life is and what it means to give all to God.

Challenging and encouraging to my faith. Was a bit episodic and jumping around a lot. It could have been a bit more smoothly connected.

Was handed this book to read by a church member. It was very moving and inspiring to read the sacrificial account of this dear Pastor. God hears the prayers of his people.
