Lydia Martin has always had dreams, the weirdest and hottest of them all involving a faceless, muscle-bound man that speaks like sin and smells like sex. Like any sane person, she always put the dreams down to an overactive imagination coupled with a higher than average libido.
One night, however, instead of their usual erotic encounters, she finds him in her dream, chained to a wall and screaming in pain. Not only that, but she thinks she recognises the building he's being held captive in as one that's just a few streets away.
Awaking with an irrepressible need to save her fantasy lover, Lydia decides to humour her dream self and head on over to where she thinks he's imprisoned.
What unfolds is beyond even her wildest imaginings as she's sucked into a dangerous and deadly world she never knew existed ... and it turns out that the man who inhabits her darkest fantasies isn't the only one that needs releasing.
18+ (adult scenes and very strong language) Paranormal fantasy Novella length at over 34,000 words First book in a series Written in British English
Dianna Hardy is an international bestselling author of (cross-genre) fantasy fiction, most notable for her dark paranormal fantasy and the raw, intense Eye of the Storm series. But her heart-warming Once Times Thrice series proves she thrives in the light as much as the dark. Whatever your poison, what she loves most is to bring you stories that are action-packed, fast-paced and not short of heat, with the focus on character development, relationship dynamics, and the plot. She writes full-length novels and short fiction.
Although quite active online, Dianna prefers the quiet company of nature and animals to the hustle and bustle of people. She loves anything paranormal (she doesn't really consider it "para"), organic food, walking barefoot, the smell of the woods after rain, and summer days.
However, she is also sustained by coffee, chocolate and the occasional vodka.
Having graduated from Richmond Drama School (London) in '98, she spent the next few years in a multitude of jobs (both acting and non-acting), studying anything that fascinated her, searching her soul, and finally found her passion where it had always been: at the end of a pen.
She currently lives in South Hampshire, England with her partner and their daughter, where she writes full time.
I admit, it's more like a 2.5 book, but I appreciated some stuff about it so it got a 3 star rating from me. First, it was a freebie, and the book was much better than I expected (like everyone, probably, when I see a free book I expect it to be a 1.5 read, awful writing, plot, characters, everything), the writing was decent, I liked the characters and it made me curious at times. Second, the author ended the first book before the main character got really annoying (to me), if it had continued with this plot it would have been way too boring.
It was nothing special, I wanted more of a build from everything (meaning better built characters, a story with more world building, even a longer, a bit more interesting plot). Ah well, as I said, it wasn't bad and I appreciated some things, worth the hour I put into reading it.
1 - not every book recommended in a closed book group of people who like the same books as you is a book I need to read...even if its free!
2 - always, Always, ALWAYS read reviews because I now need brain bleach!
3 - trust my instincts...EVERY SINGLE TIME!!
From the start I didn't like the heroine. She was a female version of the typical book manwhore. Doesn't do relationships, casual sex only, and we met one of her f buddies...yea! NOT!!! I found her to be quite repulsive in her thoughts and her actions. For 10 years shes been having sex dreams of some guy she's never met and they are becoming more and more vivid. She even feels like she betrays him when she has sex with OM but does that stop her...NOPE! As for the Hero all we know is that he's having the same dreams but is chained up in a wearhouse by the "bad guys".
I knew it was going down hill when the Hero wakes up from a sex dream with the heroine with some other woman's mouth wrapped around his dick. No he didn't want it and he couldn't stop it BUT apparently biology kept him hard...yeah yeah yeah..the old "biology" excuse. The good news is that he was able to stop her.
What happened next was appalling and was why I ultimately DNF'd the book. The heroine is unaware that she's a wolf shifter and she's going in heat. Well, the only way to "help" her is for her to cum so enter one of the Hero's pack-mates and BEST FRIENDS! A very, very, VERY detailed sex scene between them happened and I almost threw my kindle.
I was done...to add insult to injury the guy who "helped" her was married (long story short...he got bit and couldn't be with his human wife anymore so he left BUT he keeps tabs on her because he loves her...) and IF my assumptions are correct hadn't been with anyone else since his wife.
I imagine in the end the Hero being happy his friend was there to "help" his mate out...gah! Disgusting! Disgusting! Disgusting!!!
Needless to say I won't be continuing with the series and I need to find the brain bleach asap...
Releasing the Wolf by Dianna Hardy is a passionate paranormal romance with an effective build of suspense, drama and sexual tension.
It was immediately obvious after reading the first few pages that Releasing the Wolf was going to be a hot read; I just didn't realise how hot and spicy it would be! There are an array of wonderfully crafted and well-developed characters ranging from the independent Lydia to the multitude of sexy men that come into her life. Did I mention how god damn hot they are!
Hardy has created an interesting concept for her werewolf book. Whilst it follows several conventions that we'd expect from a shifter book, she has successfully manged to make Releasing the Wolf an original and unique read.
The ending is set up beautifully for the next book, one that I'll be clambering to get my hands on.

How do you read a book in a few hours? Pick up one from this Author and you will see how it can happen! I started this book just to kill some time with no intentions of finishing it right now. Before I knew it, I was immersed into Lydia's life. I can't believe the Author did it to me again! I couldn't stop reading until it was over. Now I have to wait to find out what happens until the next book!
Lydia lives on her own, works three jobs, and thinks she is finally just crazy enough to maybe set up an appointment with a shrink to find out what the heck is going on in her head! For the last 10 years she has had erotic dreams of a man and not just any man... an older hunk of manliness who comes to her in the night, whispers sweets nothings and devours her body and soul. But what if this man actually exists and an innate yearning so fierce is pulling her to him in the flesh? The plot thickens with an incoming storm, a full moon and the smell of green grass... oh what a hot story!
The Author does an amazing job again of bringing her imagination into reality and I can't wait to see where she takes this story from here.
Another fantastic story by Dianna Hardy. She has taken her passion for fantasy and put it into this exciting, sensual and addicting story. When Dianna first told me about her new book, I was really nervous about reading it. She told me that it was not a happily ever after story and it was nothing like her previous writings. So jumping into the story blind with both feet, I was blown away. I loved this story so much I could not stop reading it. I was drawn in to the amount of angst and sorrow in her characters. The struggles that they have to go through pulls you deeper and deeper into the story. It is the first true dramatic supernatural story I have read. I liked that there is no happily ever after, and people actually have to work at making things happen, it's just not given to them. In her story, being a wolf is not all sunshine and rainbows. Its struggle, sorrow and life altering. So let me tell you a little about it. Dianna has introduces us to Lydia, a normal woman who works hard and keeps to herself. Not having so much of a relationship due to the fact that she has dreamed of her perfect man every night since she was a teenager. No man can compete with her dream lover. When Ryan (dream lover) reaches out in one of their dreams for help, Lydia begins to think she's either crazy or this guy just might be real. Along with the intense dreams, Lydia has been going through changes. She can suddenly smell everything intensely, and she can't get rid of the flu she has. When Taylor walks into her cafe and smells just like Ryan, Lydia realizes she might have just found her answer. Hoping to get answers, Lydia decides she must find and talk to Taylor, only he finds her first. Taylor becomes Lydia's only way of surviving the upcoming first night of a full moon. Determined to find Ryan, Lydia sets out on her own to find him. Not only does she find him, but finds herself in the middle of a battle between supernatural beings. Lydia finds out that not only is she not human, but a very special wolf and in the middle of the most unusual love triangles. Releasing the Wolf is an enticing read that I would highly recommend.
Werewolves? Check. Holy Hell of Hotness? Check. Mysterious baddies trying to maim, destroy and generally screw up things for our heroine? Check. A whole lot of action and steamy scenes? Hell yeah.
This is a highly erotically charged story that sets up the scene for this brand new Paranormal Erotic series nicely.
Lydia, our main protagonist, is like many women out there, a little screwed up from family issues, looking to make a living as best as she can, and finding someone to share a life with. But she also has a second life, one she lives in her dreams with the mysterious Ryan, a hotter than hot older man that rocks her world, literally. But lately her dreams have become even more real, and the gaping hole inside her that screams loneliness is threatening to swallow her whole.
I found the emotions very raw in this book. Most of the characters have painful back stories that weave with the main storyline and I found myself drawn to icy Lawrence the most; I am really looking forward to discovering more about him. Ryan is just pure fire, and Taylor is a sweetheart, but Lawrence definitely has my attention and will keep it for the rest of the series.
I enjoyed this book and read it twice in the space of three days. I've always loved Dianna Hardy's writing style, and wasn't disappointed with “Releasing the Wolf”.
Everything is very honest in this story: the sex scenes, the naked emotions, all the action; there's mystery, a lovely take on Werewolf Mythology, and a nice plot, which makes it that much better for me as a lot of books with such a big erotic component tend to fail in engaging their readers, but I found myself wanting to know more about the stories, and not just looking forward to reading some more about the hot Werewolf Pack and their sexual escapades.
If you love Paranormal Erotic stories, this is definitely one to try. Sexy, Raw, Fast Paced and Insanely Hot. Loved it.
This is a hot and steamy romance, full on werewolf story, that led me straight on to books 2 & 3. Looking back now I find this book not nearly as fabulously written as those ongoing books. It wasn't a must for me to move on to the next book, but it was certainly worth it.
This novel is well written and definitely has an action driven romance solidly inscribed into the book.
I believe the most difficulty I'm having with this review is that book 2 is so very much better. The tale becomes immaculately superior and the story line is a much more delicately drawn out story, with more relevant mood setting material and a truly twining tale. Book 3 once again creates a tale where we truly stumble over our own feet with the tangled web others around us weave.
The bottom line is that I'm positive I've read these first 3 books before and I've solidly worked through them again. I'm pretty sure, however, that I haven't read book 4 which I'm now holding possessively to my chest. I expect the timing for the release of book 4 is why I've missed it pulling into the station.
I grade the sexual content in novels by what I would or wouldn't read on a work day commute, so my most ardent advice here is don't read this on the train. The sex has jumped into be with my hot & steamy rating. Sounds good to me.
I think the only way I can start this review is by saying I loved this book. It's sexy and intriguing, and for a 30k + story you get a great amount of action, lots of detail, and *fans self* plenty of hot scenes that will get your pulse racing.
I adore Dianna's writing style and her voice. She doesn't miss a beat when it comes to detail, and she knows how to start a story so that you are pulled in to the characters and their world immediately.
I think her new take on werewolves, their pack dynamic, and their rules on mating is fascinating. I won't go in to too much detail for the sake of spoilers, but if you are a fan of werewolf romance/erotica then you will understand the overall idea of how such things work with these species. There is a universal idea of how things work for them, and well, Dianna has shook it up, and reworked the stereotype . . . And it works brilliantly.
Lydia is a spunky young woman who I automatically liked, and envied her from page one. (Lucky girl, you.) And the guys . . . oh, good luck trying not to want any of them, that's all I can say.
Releasing the Wolf is a brilliant book for anyone who loves werewolf romances. The book also introduced a back story; there is some pack politics going on; some problems with outsiders which I am looking forward to hearing more about.
All in all, I will be reading this one again, and possibly another dozen times after that. I am totally ready for book 2 and will be waiting impatiently until it is complete.
(This book was received from author in exchange for an honest review.)
I really liked most of this story, however I was really disappointed with the ending. The bulb is misleading in that you think that this is just a story about Lydia and Ryan and does not let the reader know that Lydia ends up with 3 mates. I also felt the ending was confusing and too abrupt. I think that part of it is that even the characters were confused about what Lydia having 3 mates means. Also there was a lot of drama about storm walkers and how the were so horrible, but no information or clue as to why. I do understand that this is the beginning of the series, but there was too much unsettled and confusion at the end for me. I would give the first two thirds of this story 4 stars, but the ending is a 1 star for me.
Excellent read. It moves very fast and drags you into the story. I really enjoyed getting to know each character and I felt like I was there sharing their adventures. Thank you for a wonderful book.

The Review Well I saw the author talk about this on facebook and I thought mmmm sounds just up my street and do you know what? It was, I really loved this book, I am so looking forward to Book 2, I cannot wait to hear more about The Pack, Ryan, Lawrence and my favourite tortured soul Taylor, The little teaser at the back of the book, OK, The epilogue, promises there will be a lot more to look forward to, This is definitely only for over 18’s, Lydia was a very complex character, who did not know what she was, she actually made an appointment to see a therapist, she was having doubts about herself, but pulled herself together when she needed to, She could stick up for herself when it was called for, her dreams were wicked and I hope I get dreams like that, *Hot* I loved all the main male characters, each had their own complexities, Lawrence (the researcher and muscle) Ryan (The Muscle and Leader) and Taylor (The male with issues and the muscle) Did I say Muscle? Yeah there was a lot of it, I could picture each of them in my head and saw the whole book play out as a film, I love when I can picture a book like that, Book 2 will be highly anticipated on my kindle, recommended to all my friends, 5/5

Dianna Hardy's books are always on the hot side but Releasing the Wolf is taken to a whole other steamy level and I simply loved it *fans self*! Dianna has cooked up yet again another complex novel that is highly addictive, wonderfully written and full of sexy males! To be honest I really don't know how she manages to cram so much into a novella but she does it so perfectly. The storyline is fast, furious, in-depth, tense, red hot, full of shockers and delicious characters - What more could you ask for?! My favourite guy would have to be Lawrence, I think he is the most intriguing and probably the rawest out of the lot, he is also one hunk of hot wolf that I won't soon forget in a hurry. I think what I enjoyed the most was the introduction of the Trident (the enemy) who we don't get the full picture of but I was still disgusted and intrigued at the same time.
Lydia has been dreaming of a sexy guy called Ryan for years now and she has now become very familiar with him. But when she goes to bed and dreams of him chained to a wall and recognises the place he's being held, things really do become so much more real. She is immediately thrown into a dark, dangerous world that she never could of imagined existed.
Lydia soon finds out some shocking things about herself and her dream guy, who is really real and a whole lot man. She will soon find herself lusting after more than her dream lover though....
Dianna Hardy's sex scenes really do sizzle and are probably not for the faint hearted, but I think they are stunning! The ending of this book is so interesting and my appetite is definitely wet for the next instalment in this brilliant new series!
Go pick up your copy today of you'd like to go on a wild thrill ride yourself!

My Thoughts: I couldn't quite give it a full four stars because the ending fell a bit flat for me.
But, overall, I liked this story. It was an interesting slant on how wolves find their mates and how that connection is made. I liked the byplay between the characters -- Lydia and Ryan in dreams and she and Taylor in real life. Lawrence is a wild card and I don't really have a good bead on him yet. But, I'm really curious to see how the mating quadrad plays out in future books. Part of me wants to know and the other part of me doesn't. Crazy, right?!? But I think that as Lydia learns about her past the relationship will strengthen and change between them all.
I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.
Lydia has been having these dreams and not just any ordinary dreams. These dreams are about a very hot, sexy and muscled hulk of a man. This dude is so hot he will make your tongue reach out and slap your brains out. Well actually all the guys in Releasing The Wolf are very attractive. Lydia had been having these dreams for a very long time.
Lydia is a very independent girl who works 3 jobs just so she can make it on her own and not have to depend on her mother. On occasion she will go out on a date with a man, a date that usually ends up with them in one of their beds. Lydia has a very strong libido. Lydia does care about the guys she goes out with but at the same time the reason she goes with them is because of her highly over active need to have sex.
The new twist that Dianna has put on the werewolf mating ritual is awesome! It is very unique and intriguing. Dianna knows how to tell a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, hanging on waiting to see what is going to happen next. Releasing The Wolf is one of those stories that will pull you into its world and make you feel like you are a part of Lydia's world.
I have never read erotica much but as long as it has a paranormal twist to it I will give it a try. I am so very glad that I decided to read Releasing The Wolf even with knowing it was erotica. I have now come to the conclusion that maybe everyone should mix things up once in a while and go out side their realm of things and add a little spice to their reading material. I can't wait to shake up my reading world a little more with Cry Of The Wolf the second book in the Eye Of The Storm Series. Expected to be released April 19, 2013.
I love reading paranormal romances, so when I found out that the author was releasing this one in December last year, I quickly got myself a copy. Unfortunately, I have only now just managed to get to read it. I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner, because I absolutely LOVED it!
Lydia Martin is a fantastic character. She thinks herself to be a normal woman, with a very high libido and who dreams of a mystery lover. However, she soon finds out she is not who she thought she was, and her world will never be the same again. I loved her character growth as she discovered who, and what, she was.
It is difficult to do a character breakdown of the other members of this story without giving away any spoilers, so I'm not even going to try. However, I will say that Ryan, Taylor and Lawrence are H.O.T.!!! and leave it at that. *Fanning myself here!!* ;)
This an extremely fast paced story that is full of danger, mystery, intrigue and sexy scenes! I struggled to put it down! In fact, I read it in one sitting. There are a few twists and turns that surprised me, but there is a huge twist near the end that completely threw me! I loved it, but I may never look at wolf packs the same way again! The cliffhanger at the end has me looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Cry Of The Wolf.
Dianna Hardy is on my favourite authors list, and I would read anything she writes. Her books are well written and extremely entertaining. The characters are extremely lifelike and likeable. However, a word of warning: this story contains scenes of explicit sex and some violence. Therefore, I do not recommend this book to younger readers (16-). I do, however, highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances. - Lynn Worton
Wow ~ Dianna Hardy does it again! I had the benefit of receiving this book as an ARC - what an amazing ride of a read!
Erotic, paranormal, powerful, intense, creative and very layered in story. The characters are truly well written and build upon one another setting up the perfect sequel. A very different take on werewolves while still staying true to the legend and lore that we are all familiar with...
LOVED Ryan, Lydia, Lawrence and and Taylor! Their connections are unbelievably written and I truly cannot wait for the next book to see what is in store:)
And as a very important side note - this book is incredibly HOT - hot from page one and after finishing it in one sitting (as I typically do with Ms. Hardy's books - can't put them down!) I am already re-reading to see if I missed anything - and lets be honest - re-reading the hotness is not a bad thing, right???
Releasing the Wolf by Dianna Hardy is a passionate paranormal fantasy with an effective build of suspense, drama and sexual tension.
The ending is set up beautifully for the next book, one that I'll be clambering to get my hands on.
Non-stop mile a minute action starts this book off right at the very beginning and doesn't stop - even after you finish the last page. Lydia Martin finds herself thrust into a crazy world that she would have never imagined actually existed - and that the man of her dreams (literally) is right in the very center of all the craziness. And we all know that he can't forget the sex. With just the right mix of dream-like fantasy and reality, it can get quite hot. Somehow, Dianna Hardy has managed to fit everything I like in a longer novel into a nice compact novella and still leave me wanting more. With a cliffhanger ending (that comes right after a very unexpected twist) that had me trying to turn to pages that didn't exist yet, I don't think I could have asked for much more.
This is quite the interesting take on the whole mate shifter thing. The males die without their mate by age 40, the females haven't shifted at all but die around 23-25 or something like that. The mating is quite different and quite interesting. Lydia keeps dreaming of Ryan, has since she was a teen, but she's always thought he wasn't real, except now new circumstances are leading the way to making her realize he is in fact real.
I hated the H's ultimate denial of what she was told. I'm not sure if I'd be more happy she was ok with it or more annoyed she was, but in this case she pulled the cheesy, this can't be real, this isn't happening type bit. However that aside I did find the story intriguing and do plan to read more. It's just so different.
Dianna Hardy Releasing The Wolf Eye Of The Storm #1
Paranormal romance (with plenty of hotness) at its best. This book is a quick read that will definitely leave you wanting more, in more ways than one. I was arguing with my partner the night I finished reading this and almost forgave him just to work out some of the urges and images going through my head. Incredibly well written, with each of the characters having their own place, I couldn’t fault it. Book 2 cannot come out fast enough, as the ending has definitely left me intrigued.
Who knew when I started this paranormal fantasy book that Dianna Hardys new twist on werewolves would end up in a hot sexy lovers triangle....the perfect setup for the next book in this series... I enjoy her style of writing as it is a quick and easy read...Lydia is a strong female character and did I mention the men are HOT and sexy? I look forward to the next book in this series.....still fanning myself! gracious!
I loved this book and the fact that it set not far from where I live is even better as I can actually visualise the character's in those places :)
Lydia has been dreaming of Ryan since she was about 15, now at the age of 25, she find's he is real and he is a werewolf and then she finds out that she too is a werewolf as well as a storm wielder. I cannot wait for the next instalment to find out how things work out especially with the Triple bond!!!!!!
The first thing that struck me was the unusual fact of werewolves in Britain! The second was the the fact that it was a VERY hot read. The storyline was complex and had an interesting concept for the werewolves. I was even OK with the fact that she ends up with three guys. What I could not accept readily was wolves in Britain!
This book begins with the heroine having some issues. And some crazy dreams. When she ends up meeting some strange people her whole world changes. Now she finds out what she really is and its not so great.
This book was interesting even though it was short. And I liked the heroine a lot. I look forward to what else will happen to her.
this book was recommended to me by a fellow shifter crack lover, and i was not disappointed! loved it! and i have to continue the series, must find out more about lawrence :) def. recommend it :)
This was so different then the other werewolf books I've read before. Lydia has been having very real like dreams for over 10 years, they started right after she lost her mother, but they all feature this older, very big and muscular man name Ryan. A week before the full moon, Lydia thinks she caught a cold and nothing is helping until a smell that catchers her attention and she feels a bit better until the man that she smelt leaves, and after that her 'cold' gets worse. Lydia is a very busy person works 3 different waitress jobs, but her best paying and crappy job on the night her 'cold' gets tot he fever state is the night her life changes, dealing with a intoxicated boss, her fever burning up, her sever allergic reaction to silver comes to part when lots of silverware is dumped on her and her sweet scented men trying to save her life with saliva and sex to save her life (it's one hell of a day for Lydia) and finding out that he man she just has sex with can change into a wolf and that said wolf tells her she is one and her mate is one and is missing, Lydia only does she scream but she runs home. Throughout this book Ryan is held captive by The Trident a group of abnormal wolves, and he is tortured until he gives into their leaders demands to be with her and increasing their numbers. Can his pack get to him and save his life before he dies or will their alpha and mate will be lost. STOP READING FOR A HINT INTO THIS BOOK. Little warning, there will be a M/M/M/F towards the end, most likely that gave the good part away. :(
