I was really happy with Vamola's backstory and the reasons why she ended up coming to earth. So far, her character motivations are the most main characterey and it sort of brings a new atmosphere into the story where it's making things a bit more serious. And since she's on their side and has gotten the backstory, I'm now convinced they'll make it through this fight so they can all become a happy family :)
Dude every character backstory in this series is some like pixar-ass first 10 minutes of Up type shit where it’s manufactured in a lab to make you feel sad. Which is fine, this is a weekly series for teens, I legit shouldn’t demand any further nuance from this type of thing, but we’re on the third go around of a character’s tragic past and it feels like a mad libs game at this point, just interchangeable sad occurrences that feel totally sterile.
Whatever, arts still good and the cats still funny.
Chef kiss (っ˘з(˘⌣˘ )
ENDINGNYA GANTUNG BANGET GILAAAAAAAAA 🥲 awal-awal udah mewek liat backstorynya si vamola huhuuuu, menyentuh banget pas bagian mamanya vamola bilang kenapa dia gamau di panggil mama, intinya dia pengen menegaskan ke vamola kalau kita semua orang asing dan jangan sampai percaya sampai orang lain, karena kita terjerumus ke dalam kekacauan juga gara2 percaya sama lain. padahal aslinya dia sayang banget ke vamolaaa, nangis sih pas liat vamola di kirim ke bumi terus struggle karena nggak tau apa-apa, ternyata dia tuh bukan tampangnya aja polos tapi emang beneran polossss huhuuu jadi menyesal pernah suudzon sama vamola lalalala 🥹🫶 battlenya keren sih, tapi lagi-lagi kurang greget karena nggak ada okarun, mangkanya pas muncul di akhir GUE TERIAKKK, LITERALLY TERIAKKK. mana habis itu ke tambahan si jiji mode evil eye lagi dyeisnakwiwyshsnskiwueu, volume selanjutnya pasti menyala karena si jiji mode evil eye finally ikutan turun ke medan perang
I didn't know when I bought this volume from Barnes & Noble that it included chapters I hadn't read yet so imagine my surprise and delight to discover I had new Dandadan in my possession?! And you know what? It was everything that makes this series amazing. Fantastic action and humor, heartbreaking back stories and a commitment to never shying away from the absurd. Oh how I missed you - until volume 14.
Vamola..the girl in the Kaiju suit is actually a member of the Sumerian race.. This Volume being a bit more serious and to the point kind of threw me..
I love this manga so much. This whole fight and the lead up to it have been amazing and I’m so hyped to see the climax now that all the characters have regrouped!!! Vamola’s backstory was heartbreaking like genuinely earth shattering. seeing them all extra motivated after learning the truth was enough to make me cry. I love how much each of these characters truly cares about each other, even past/present enemies like the serpo guy!! I also really love how Jiji has his own powers that aren’t entirely connected to the evil eye! It’s nice that he has something that’s his because he’s always looking out for others
edit after reread:
I am once again crying. vamola my precious precious alien girly 😭😭😭😭
Series: Dandadan Ch. 103-111 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
This volume continues Vamola’s story. Her people are fighting against the alien invasion and we see her fight to survive in this harsh world. The aliens attacking her world are the same ones that are now attacking Earth. Vamola’s story was just really sad and emotional. It now explains why she was so obsessed with marrying the strongest man she found.
We jump back into the alien invasion and everyone is still trying to defeat the aliens. Momo and Vamola are fighting together but nothing they do seems to stop the aliens. But of course Okarun finally is back and arrives just in time to turn the tide of the battle. I am really excited to see how the battle goes now that Okarun is here.
Getting the rest of the history of the Sumerians, the purpose of the pyramids, and one of the climaxes of the big battle, rolled into one volume, is a real treat.
Lots of desperation and emotion topped with massive action, but I'm personally thrilled to see yet another fringe science, strange history interpretations get such front-and-center page-time like it's nothing.
Edge of seat stuff. Love it.
Personal note: If anyone reading my reviews is be interested in reading my SF (Very hard SF, mind you), I'm open to requests.
Just direct message me in goodreads or email me on my site. I'd love to get some eyes on my novels.
Reread ch. 101-102 from the previous volume to get Vamola's full story uninterrupted. When I tell you I was CRYING!!!!! I think this is my favorite arc. The manga is so fun and unique, I always think, "It can't get better than this." Then it does! I know it's such a silly thing to say, but I honestly think this is peak. The character development, action, humor, storyline, backstories, relationships, world building are all so blended together beautifully. I really enjoyed this volume, and as always, can't wait for the next one. One of my favorite mangas of all time. Begging my library system to procure the volumes faster!!!
Another emotional volume😭 You really got to appreciate how many pages are just scenes without dialogue, so much detail, although it was hard to figure out everything that was going on in some of the scenes, but still pretty good. I would just sit there and stare at the pages so that I can get a good look at them and even store some of them in my memory. It's been like that in the previous volumes as well, but this one felt like it had more. Kind of reminds me of Tite Kubo with the later volumes of Bleach.
