this book is a great book it told me a-lot of things I did not know!
this book is a nonfiction companion to the magic tree house series about how to survive many things they survived. ( only one thing for sure wont happen that they told you how to survive-a T rex ) ( but the author studied the t rex so it was it was a little fun thing of what you should do if you actually were face to face with a t rex more like face to foot) one of the many things from this book is that the largest American alligator ever caught weighed 727 pounds!
This book was a fun one to read with my nephew. Everything from surviving getting lost in the woods to surviving a cobra bite and T. rex. The book is hardcover with a cool real working compass built in to the cover. The characters Jack and Annie reference a lot of their previous adventures that we were unfamiliar with as this was the first book we’ve read. But the survival tips were useful knowledge without being too scary. Some were of course imaginative (surviving a T Rex encounter). The book is illustrated and also has real photos of lions and tigers and bears, oh my! We enjoyed this book. The compass was fun also!
This book was very good. I like that is was interesting and gave a lot of facts about the sercumstance you might incounter and what you have to do to have a better chance to survive. The set up was nice because there was a seperate page for you to recoupe and go onto another section. The facts were very in depth and fun to read.
I read this aloud to a carful of children on a camping trip. They kept requesting it over and over. It had some practical things for us since we were concerned about spotting a tiger on our trip, and some very silly things. A great read for any child who loves the magic treehouse series, or just outdoor adventure in general.
I'm a college student that is just getting back into outdoors activities and I'm happy this was one of my starting points. I remember Annie and Jack's adventures help me learn during my childhood and they are still helping me today.
This is filled with short sections of about 6-10 tips for how to survive many different things- extreme heat or cold, tornados, floods tsunamis, earthquakes, being lost in the wild, and many different wild animal encounters, as well as some more fantastic things, such as a t- rex.
This is an updated edition that includes epidemics - including COVID 19. It is a good way to educate younglings on dangers in the world while being entertaining.
Jack and Annie give all kinds of tips for surviving a wide variety of situations. The chapters include Wilderness Skills, Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh Man!, Extreme Weather, Disasters and Incredible Survival. Readers learn how to read a compass, tell time without a watch (who knew you could tell time from a cat's pupils?), build a fire and locate water in wilderness situations. In the animal chapter, Jack and Annie teach readers how to survive encounters with everything from lions to sharks and gorillas. Extreme weather situations they cover include tornadoes, extreme cold, and even sandstorms. The disasters include floods, tsunamis, and earthquakes. I found this incredibly informative and children already reading Magic Tree House books are going to love the references to Jack and Annie's many adventures. The illustrations are pulled from past stories and the way the information is presented is colorful, easy-to-read and just plain fun. I recommend for school, public and home libraries.
Eleanor says: It was really cool to see all the adventures that we’ve been on with Jack and Annie, and some we haven’t. It’s okay that we haven’t been on those adventures yet because we know we are going to read about them in the future. The book tells about their adventures and what to do if you’re in a terrible storm, flood, or earthquake or volcanoes. It also talked about spiders and cobras. I’m scared of spiders but I want to read that book anyway. I only like to read books about spiders and watch movies about spiders. I don’t like spiders in real life and that’s my final word about that!
Hopefully I will never need to utilize any of the information that I acquired in this survival guide; which ranges from the likely to the impossible. Survival tips include: smart choices when confronted with severe weather, dangerous animals, wilderness skills, natural disasters, to unlikely encounters with Pirates, Tyrannosaurus Rex, or handling zero gravity. Kids will enjoy this non-fiction companion to the Magic Tree House adventure series.
We stumbled upon this while looking for our favorite Magic Tree House books. My son and I read this in one sitting and he loved leaving about how to survive many different situations.
Jack and Annie share a variety of survival tips that they have learned during their many adventures. This fascinating guide will provide you with the skills to survive such situations as being lost in the wilderness, encountering wild animals, and living through natural disasters. If that isn’t enough, the last chapter treats readers to survival tips for some rather unusual but interesting circumstances. Young readers who love undertaking adventure and uncertainty will especially enjoy reading this companion book to the Magic Tree House series.
