Mindfulness for Beginners by AJ Cameron is a guide on mindfulness that is easy to read and down to earth. I’m a senior citizen, and I’ve read some on mindfulness to help with loneliness and stress, etc., but this is a good reminder to incorporate it more into my daily life. The writing is clear and the ideas are understandable, so it’s a good introduction to mindfulness. The tips on mindful breathing and mindful eating are helpful. The book is not overwhelming, and I felt as though I could start doing it right away. Like the 4 x 4 breathing was something that I started right away. The author includes a section with resources like apps and websites for anyone looking for more information. I was already familiar with some of the benefits of mindfulness, but the book gave me the encouragement I needed to bring it back into my everyday routine. It reminded me to get back into Tai Chi, which I really used to enjoy; I just needed a little push. So, if you’re looking for an easy introduction to mindfulness or a quick refresher, this book is a great choice.

Mindfulness for Beginners by A. J Cameron is a short but informative book and a perfect introduction to the world of mindfulness. I have some experience with mindful breathing and meditation, but still enjoyed reading those chapters, However, I felt like I learned lots of new tips from the chapters on mindful movement, mindful listening and mindful observation. The chapters on mindfulness in the classroom and workplace were timely – I feel a lot of companies and schools are now realising the benefits of this practice. At the back of the book is a section on resources, which recommends apps – some of which I had not known about and am keen to try out, as well as some websites and on-line communities. Scattered throughout the book are practical exercises to try and the tone of the whole book is one of gentle encouragement. It is generally an introductory book, but most will learn something from it.
