Gretchen Meyers: is a full-figured woman, whose model agent mother criticizes her weight, her food choices, her clothes choices... and mom is living with her, after her agency dives because of scandal of her have sex with young, male models; she helps companies manage, make choices, and recover - and is now focused on getting mom's business back; they have one model still on contract - one who has not been seen for 8 months... and a month left on his contract... Gretchen is going to get him... though he has not noticed her, Gretchen has noticed him through the years...

Kyle Ramsey: male model, gorgeous; typical, he's used his good looks and fame to play; but he has a heart problem (that kept him out of army - which he'd planned to join with his HS best friend), and it got bad... so 8 months ago, he had valve replacement surgery... and used Ms. Meyer's scandal to avoid giving any real info to the agency...

Gretchen is on his door step... her low self physical esteem gets in the way of fully accepting him... and Kyle's not interested in modeling - he is no longer perfect, but Gretchen intrigues him; he's changed, he wants a relationship...

so a few dates... a few misunderstandings... a missed date, because his best friend was killed in Afghanistan... consolation, she makes arrangement and goes with him to Texas for funeral... in response to his feeling useless, that his friend is the hero, and his life has been frivolous, she makes arrangements for him to model for the Heroes for family calendar... he misunderstands, gives her the cold shoulder... but shows up for the shoot - she's there, professional... first part is with tshirt on... they insist shirt off, he takes her back to her apartment and shares his surgery scar... she is practical, and understanding...

and he has a quieter modeling career to look forward to... and they have each other (and mom is finding her own place)

A Model Hero is book nine in the multi-author Calendar Men series. This standalone story is about BBW Gretchen Meyers. She's a full-figured woman who is often surrounded by model "perfect" people, due to her mother's job running a modelling agency. Unfortunately for Gretchen, her mother's agency isn't doing so well, and means her mother is currently crashing at her place. Eager to get her mother back on her feet and out of her house, Gretchen vows to help. All she needs to do is get one of her mother's clients to agree to take on some jobs, and things will be moving in the right direction. But said client, Kyle Ramsey, isn't so keen...
Can she persuade him? Or is her nagging, criticising mother going to be stuck in her apartment for ever more?

I enjoy a good BBW story, and A Model Hero is no exception. I really liked the main character, Gretchen, and found myself rooting for her throughout. The storyline is interesting and different, the writing engaging and the sex scenes scorching. If you're looking for a great contemporary romance story with lashings of heat, check this out.

Thanks to Decadent Publishing and Sara Daniel for continuing to provide amazing books to keep our blog running! This should have been reviewed in September but real life got in the way with a new job and my reading time diminished. Things are heading back on the right track so I can read again!

I love that Kyle saw Gretchen for who she was and was able to show Gretchen that she was beautiful the way she was. It was also nice to read something that had the guy feel self-conscious about how he looks as well. This story was touching in many ways for me since I related to Gretchen on so many levels.

I enjoy reading stories where both characters have self-esteem issues and then they find a way to overcome their own images and find a way to be happy together.

I liked this book. It was a bit short though. The characters seemed very real with their very human insecurities. There was a lot of misunderstandings and the mother did not help at all. I would like to read more books from this author

A good story

I had a hard time getting into this story. I didn't connect with the characters and I thought the hea was a little rushed. I felt it could have been longer as well. However, I did like the story, it was different from what I normally read.
