“T’es la plus belle dame pour moi!”

Interning for a job she’s worked so hard for, is something she can’t mess up, but why is it that when the sexy French rugby player is anywhere close to her, lust rules out all reason. If having a secret affair wasn’t enough, her part-time job is something to boast about but, you do what you have to do to pay the bills, but sometimes secrets have a way of coming out and soon there is nothing else to do but choose.
Like the brief glimpses of sun that Wales celebrated in August, Catrin would Savor Henri’s warmth. Until it was time to let go.

Holding tight to her mother’s beliefs she doesn’t believe in happily ever after, but why does one kiss, one touch from Henri change all that? Could she risk it all her heart, her body and her future, for a man who may not feel the same way? Is it possible to have everything you ever wanted? There is only one way to find out…

Trying Too Hard was a quick sexy read, with a delicious rugged rugby player and a woman who has done nothing but work so hard to make everything work. Henri was a dream, the man was so delicious in and out of bed, and he took the time to worship Catrin, who couldn’t see how beautiful she really is. The story had heart and was enjoyable for an afternoon read.

Trying Too Hard is a quick, sometimes funny and sexy read.

Catrin Owens is having a steamy dalliance with one of her agencies most popular clients, the sexy French rugby star Henri Chevallier. The rules are clear, and what they are doing is definitely outside of those rules, but Catrin can’t seem to stop herself from resisting Henri’s charms varied and effective charms 

I enjoyed this book, it’s a perfect filler for an evening or when you have a couple of hours available to lose yourself in a light, entertaining story.

"T'es la plus belle dame pour moi!"

Henri, a handsome French rugby player, meets Catrin, an intern assigned to him in order to get him British sponsorship. Told to "take good care of Henri," she sure does... and they begin a passionate love affair. But lust is dangerous, and the wave she is riding may drop her into shark infested waters.

"This wasn't just about sex, or work, or living in between them. But it was something that she didn't recognize, and couldn't quite explain--not even to herself."

Catrin is emotionally scarred, and deeply afraid of relying on any man, let alone Henri. She is absolutely terrified of needing him. When she is promoted at her job as an actual agent, she learns she will be losing Henri as a client. This is the perfect opportunity to break away from him, and clear her head. A nice, passionate, sexy goodbye, and she can be on with her life to focus on her career. Except, Henri doesn't want to say goodbye...

It takes Catrin to see Henri in the tabloids with a beautiful model to realize she has made a huge mistake. But has she lost her chance, and her Henri, forever?

I loved this short story. It is full of erotica, lovable characters, and an interesting story about a young woman who WANTS to trust, despite her past, and a VERY patient man who stands by her. I think a lot of women can relate to Catrin, and would love to meet a man like Henri. I loved how he was French, and occasionally spoke French. That added to his sex appeal, for me anyways. :)

Catrin's boss Liam, the Diva, was hilarious. I don't know how Catrin had stayed an intern for him for two years. That man would of driven me to drink. But he was lovable, in his own way. Much like all of the characters.

It hasn't registered with me what the title means, "Trying Too Hard." I'm not sure who was trying too hard, unless it was Henri who had to be very patient with Catrin.

Overall, if you like erotica, you will enjoy this story. Lots of spicy sex scenes, as well as sweet, tender moments that will touch your heart. 5 stars! Trying Too Hard, by Molly Ann Wishlade is a winner!

received Trying Too Hard by Molly Ann Wishlade via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a sucker for a hot, fiery romance so Trying Too Hard by Molly Ann Wishlade was a perfect little treat for me. The only problem I found was that this story was just DAMN short! If the author had extended this story some more, I would have enjoyed it so much more.I felt a little like there was too much crammed into such a small amount of pages. I wanted to know so much more about the characters and their pasts etc. Besides the length of the book, I actually quite enjoyed it.

Catrin Owens is obsessed with her career. She is dying to make it to the top of the ladder and has worked incredibly hard to get where she is. Catrin is determined, successful and hopelessly infatuated with the gorgeous French rugby star, Henri. I really liked Catrin - she was a nice, down to earth character. She constantly questions herself which I liked, because I kinda' do that too, but I just wanted her to make up her mind about Henri, because the constant yo-yo'ing about him drove me a little bit mad.

Henri Chevallier is absolutely divine! The French rugby star knows exactly how to handle a woman, and from the moment he sets eyes on Catrin, he knows he has to have her. I love the way Molly Ann Wishlade describes Henri to the reader.

With his athletic frame reaching almost six foot, his dark brown hair, soft chocolate eyes and honeyed skin, he reminded her of a Greek god. When he walked into a room, he seemed to fill it with his masculine presence and easy confidence.

Honeyed skin? Chocolate eyes? Hell yes. That sounds like a Greek god to me too. Henri is attractive, and Catrin feels a pull towards him that she just cannot resist.

The story itself was okay, but as I said earlier, there was so much more than could have been written. I wanted to get deeper with the characters, find out what they had both gone through in life. I wasn't sure whether this was intended to be read as a short story. If so, then yes, it was fab! But soooo much more could have been done it.

The sex was fantastic, very detailed and steamy, which I'm sure you'll love, ladies! And Henri is sure to delight you.

I'm rating Trying Too Hard with three stars.
The characters were okay, the sex was great, but the story just wasn't in depth enough for me.

Wow, still blushing after this fast paced super hot read! I was hooked as soon as the French rugby player spoke in his sultry sexy language! I'm a sucker for French guys (ahem, when I was single!) and couldn't resist this book! Lots of twists and turns and enough to keep you reading into the morning - so don't start reading at midnight!
Will look for more by this author. And might start watching rugby ;)

This book was great from the start to the finish. I loved how it opened in an intense romantic scene and weaved more delicious moments throughout. The story line is great, the characters were well developed and I liked that there wasn't a million side stories. There was enough conflict to move the story forward without bogging it down with too many other issues.

Catrin was a great female lead...but Henri...oh my...he is definitely my current book boyfriend....please write more Henri stories!

Trying Too Hard was a promising story that didn’t fully explore a lot of the ideas presented, which I found disappointing. Also, Henri seemed to only speak in exclamations.

Okay

Cute story, but the author overused exclamation points. It would have been better to learn more about Henri's character as well.

Catrin Owen's has finally been hired as an intern for her dream job with the bright future ahead. The main points she needs to stick by is that what goes on within the business is, well, business and outside of that is... outside of work. One big rule, the two should never entwine. Up until now this has never been a problem and Catrin is hardworking, dedicated and determined to excel in her chosen career. Catrin finally gets her own client and everything changes, she cannot keep her hands of the hunky, french rugby player - Henry Chevallier.
Brimming with hotness and major sex appeal, Henri Chevallier storms through the neatly organised points which make up Catrin's life. Catrin know she should stop and step away. There is one problem though... is she falling in love and more importantly, is she willing to risk all she's worked for, for the super hot rugby player?

From the description this sounded like a fun read; however, I found that the actual book fitted the title rather well, or I was expecting a little bit more out of it. I struggled to understand half of this book and why things that happened, happened. Personally, this was down to not being able to get to know the characters in the book very well so you didn't have an idea as to why they acted and did some of the things they did.

I can't say I didn't like this book, but it could have been stretched out a little more, I feel that the author was trying to cram too much into this short story which was why I found so much detail left out. Usually I find that I am absorbed into books, as though I am watching everything that happens first hand, in this one I really didn't. Unfortunately it was just paper and words for me, but an enjoyable couple of hours non the less.

Moving away from those little nags, the story isn't really that bad, it's filled with romance and a bit of hot action, but not enough to deter from the story line. Thankfully! If you enjoy stories with super hot male lead characters in them and a little bit of steamy action, for a non brain-taxing plot then you will most likely enjoy this book.

This is the perfect book to read on holiday by the side of the pool, as long as there aren't any unexpected people leaning over your shoulder...

Trying Too Hard
Molly Ann Wishlade

I give this book 3 stars.

This ARC was given by Carina UK via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have to be honest and explain the beginning was too confusing for me. It started off with a hot sex scene, but I had no idea who the characters were or what was going on in the story. I like to have some information on my characters, so I can visualize what is going on in the book. Once I got to know the characters and the exposition, I really liked Catrin and Henri. I wish this novella was a novel. I felt there was so much more to read about and I honestly wanted more! Yes, I am greedy!!

Catrin Owens is a struggling intern working at a talent agency and is told to keep Henri Chevallier happy. He is a French rugby player thar is being scouted by Wales and France. She has no problems keeping the sexy Henri happy because it also keeps Catrin satisfied as well. Of course, she is concerned her boss may find out his happiness is in thanks to hot, steamy sex.Catrin has never been so happy with a man, but her mom instills in her to never rely on a man. They always ruin women. She knows this fling with the hot rugby player will end, but she wants to make sure it does not end her career as well.

Henri Chevallier can't decide between France or Wales when it comes to his rugby career. Whichever one he chooses, will be the one he plays with until his career is over. He loves his native country, France, however he is looking forward to seeing his Mom's homeland as well. Not only is it interesting, but he hopes Catrin Owens remains a part of his life if he decides to stay in Wales. She is beautiful, intelligent, and he can't stop thinking of her! He has never felt possessive over a woman before, but she brings out many "firsts" for him. Can his promises influence her to stay with him and can he help her keep her career intact?

Like the title, I felt like this book tried too hard the entire time, which is unfortunate because the thought of a rugby hero excited me. Catrin has worked as an intern at a talent agency for two years and really wants to be respected and hired on full-time. She makes ends meet by also working as a waitress at a club on the weekends. When the French rugby star, Henri becomes a client of this agency, Catrin and Henri hit it off very fast. Henri must make a decision about what rugby team he wants to play for. He has offers from both France and Wales and hates the process of being wooed by both sides. But when he meets Catrin, his interest totally focuses on her.

This book just didn’t flow well for me at all. Both Henri and Catrin felt too caricature and not realistic. Catrin wants to be taken seriously at her job yet falls into Henri’s bed time and time again. She isn’t suppose to have relations with clients, and yet from the first night she meets Henri, they start an affair. She is constantly worried about being caught by her boss, yet one look from Henri has her rushing into his bed every time. I wish she had played a little harder to get. Catrin’s boss also comes across very odd. Too sleazy and just weird. I felt like all of these characters were just too overdone – they would never act this way in real life. Also bummed that the actual sport of rugby didn’t really come into play. I would have liked to learn more about it.

This book is definitely erotic, yet it felt like just sex and not a relationship. There was even a point where Catrin didn’t want to share news of her relationship with her best friend because it was too intimate. But as the reader, the intimacy and a relationship doesn’t really come through.

I don’t have much else to say – this book did not work for me at all.

Trying Too Hard.... Molly Ann Wishlade
Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.
Erotic romance, I love those so requesting this book was a no brainer, from the description it sounded like a fun read. And it was...but...it fitted the title a bit too well. It seemed to be trying so hard to fit in the erotic part that the story and the beauty of romance got lost. I wasn't really sure why Catrin had two jobs? Why she abandoned her principles, her mums lifelong tirade against men that was ingrained into her psyche, to get together with Henri risking the job she's been working so hard for. She knows if she's caught that's it – she's out, job gone, career gone and all that hard work lost, and it just didn't fit the image we had of her. Lust certainly, Henri clearly is gorgeous, but there needed for me to be something more than just that for her to risk so much.
Henri is a real dream, lovely character, but again I needed to know a bit more about him as a person, not just as a sex god! Then there's the potential for some terrific jealousy angle, with the introduction of a beautiful model as his partner to boost media appearances, but its really a bit of a washout for me, when it could have been such a strong, sharp, anguishing, heartbreaking part.
So it becomes a story that's certainly well done on the erotic end, but where for me the beauty of romance is lacking, the build up, the being together, the heartbreak were all just OK when I need them to be fabulous. Its priced at £2.84 for 144 pages, and I think if it had been longer, with more on them as people and their lives I’d have rated it higher.
Stars: Three.

Trying Too Hard was one of those books that probably was trying too hard, that or I was expecting more. This is the kind of book you can easily read in one sitting as it isn't too long, nor taxing on your brain.

I didn't hate this book, I just wanted a little more out of it. I don't really like short books, I feel they try and cram too much into them and things get lost in translation, this is how I found Trying Too Hard in honesty. The story isn't bad, its filled with romance and some super hot action! And can I just say, Henri Chevallier.... HOTTIE ALERT! If you like a book with a hot male lead with some even hotter scenes, then you will probably like this.

I just found it too short and at times a little too predictable. But these type of books are what they are, I can see a lot of people enjoying this and it would be great for a holiday read, I would just have liked more which is why I didn't give this more than 2 stars.

I would like to thank the author Molly Ann Wishlade and Carina for approving me to read this via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I've had this in my TBR pile for months and not had chance to read it, why did I wait so long.

The story is about Catrin the career women who is an aspiring agent until she meets the charismatic Henri. Henri is a French Rugby Player who is in Wales looking at whether to play for Wales (his mother was Welsh). Catrin is expected to look after him by her boss the slimey Liam.

This is a short fun novella and I couldn't help but like Catrin, she does what she needs to do to survive despite thinking she wasn't loved by her mother, as much as she tries to keep Henri at a distance she is drawn to him.

The book is steamy fun that has a hot rugby player in it, what more could I want? I love that I have found a book that ha a rugby player even if it is the wrong code, my love of rugby league comes out often. It is fast paced, a little too fast paced at times as I would love this to have been a full length novel.

Received from NetGalley

I'm not sure if the author was talking about her characters when she titled this book but I should have taken the hint and stopped reading after the first chapter. This "book" could have been about half the length (and it was already fairly short) if the descriptions of clothing and makeup and hair had been left out. I didn't need to know everything every character was wearing, holding, doing, etc. I never connected with any of the characters and I'm not even sure that this really qualifies as erotica. Sex scenes were awkward rather than hot and I found myself cringing throughout most of the story. I also hope in the final editing process that someone finds all the editing mistakes I found because there are some words in there like as for at or in for it and while it didn't get in the way of the story, it happened often enough for it to be noticeable.
