A selection of themed poems written throughout the lives of the 2 main authors. Also including some of their favourite classics and Internet poems. To enable easy reading, each section is clearly headed with a title page and vignette, most attractively drawn by Linda Koperski who also designed the cover. And within each themed section, the poems are varied by mood. This book was originally printed for the families and friends of the authors. But I have now published as a tribute to Colleen Thatcher (deceased)and as her legacy to all poets, artists and writers. I have now decided to sell this book for charity: namely for Sue Ryder, Duchess of Kent House, which is where Colleen died. All proceeds will go to them, because this is what Colleen would have wanted.
If you think: 'ah, poetry is for elite, the bookish, the teachers, librarians, the literary princes"... then you need to read this book. These poems are what great poems should be – simple, honest and raging with vitality. They speak to what everyone who has ever lived knows... joy, pain, love, loss, imagination and grief, and they do it understandably. You can almost feel it – they are written from the truest and deepest feelings of author’s hearts, sorrows, hopes… In one word – outstanding! Truly an impressive sampling of excellent lines, thematically compressed and carefully chosen – very original and rhythmical. The book is filled with inspiring and dreamy pieces - to help your mood when you’re down, to increase your understanding of life when its cruel or unfair, to calm your thoughts and make you smile/happy. If you love good poetry but struggling with anything lengthy or complicated – this book is for you. Start each day with a poem…it only takes a minute or two.
Loves it, old and new poems just a pleasant read, if you like poems or not your put the book down and have at least one going round your mind, cup of coffee sit back and read,GREAT.
Poetry is very much about glimpsing the soul of the writer, it is deeply personal for both the poet and the reader and, at times, there is a profound connection between the two. Sadly, I am not one of the readers who was able to make that connection and I continued to see only groups of words made to rhyme on paper. My rating IS personal as I do not feel able to judge another's soul. I received this book free through Goodreads.
Published this as a tribute to a dear colleague and departed friend. As well as her poems and mine, it contains a few classics and some kindly donated by Martin Newell.
