This woman and her K-9 are being hunted. Exactly as she planned.
When a busload of schoolchildren disappears, Phoenix Gray knows the kidnapper is the unidentified serial killer she’s spent her life trying to catch. This time, she’ll find the killer and bring him to justice no matter what it takes. She and her Phoenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency join the search for the hostages, but they aren’t the only ones who want the criminal captured.
Callum Ross, an FBI agent who specializes in catching serial criminals, is about to resign. But not until he finds one last culprit, the killer behind a famous twenty-year-old crime Callum vowed to solve.
Despite the FBI agent’s uncanny understanding of her psyche, Phoenix refuses to be distracted from her goal. When the serial killer turns into the cat instead of the mouse, Phoenix thinks she’s ready. But will she need the God she rejected to achieve the justice she’s given her life to obtain?
Terminal Danger concludes the thrilling story of the elite Phoenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency that began with Hidden Danger (Guardians Unleashed, #1). (Each book can stand alone or be read as series installments.)

Wow! That is my reaction to this story. I have been a fan of Jerusha Agen since I read the first Guardian Unleased book. You will love the entire series. It is about strong women with amazing dogs (with various skills), finding strength and courage to overcome personal struggles by depending on the Lord. And of course there's always suspense, unexpected twists, with some romance on the side. I've eagerly anticipated Phoenix's story since the first book, and Jerusha definitely does not disappoint. I couldn't put the book down. You will LOVE this book! I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book with no obligation to post a favorable review.
I have enjoyed all of the books in the Guardians Unleashed series, but Jerusha Agen may have saved the best for last. The enigmatic leader of the Phoenix K-9 Security Agency, Phoenix Gray, finally gets her story and it is a gripping one. I knew that Agen would have to create a unique male character to pair with the secretive Gray. She has done just that with Callum Ross who also has an intriguing back story.
Jerusha Agen is amazing with the intricate detail of the search for a serial killer and missing group of children. This book is filled with suspense and intense situations, twists and surprises, and tons of excitement that kept me turning page after page not wanting to put it down.
As in previous books in this series, the dogs in the K-9 Security Agency are well-written, important characters. I love that they are given personalities and abilities just as the human characters are in these books.
I highly recommend this series for readers of Christian romantic suspense.
I was given a copy of this book by the author. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Terminal Danger is Phoenix Gray's story. We find out what drives her and why her personality is the way it is. Finally, we get to see the real Phoenix.
There are plenty of twists and surprises to keep you glued to the pages. I couldn't put it down! It only keeps getting better and better and once you're engaged in the first chapter, you are hooked.
Everything wrapped up nicely in the end. Terminal Danger is a thrilling-keep you on the edge of your seat read with plenty of suspense and heart-warming moments. The Christian aspect of the book is woven into the storyline and will make you smile as you read how God changes a person's heart. I loved it.
I received a complimentary ARC from the author; a positive review is not required. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very interesting, and the story compelling. I read this in one day. Phoenix Gray and Callum Ross both had well-developed backstories. They worked well together. Phoenix is stubborn and Callum is patient. Their ability to partner despite their differences was commendable and drove this story forward. The stakes were super high and kept me at the edge of my seat. This book is extremely well written. Would definitely recommend!
Once in a great while I get the privilege of helping launch books into the readersphere. This is one I was eager to read!
Terminal Danger is by far the best of the series, which is fitting considering that this is the final book.
But it’s more than just great storytelling. Allow me to explain why, or at least try to.
I read. A lot. A freakish amount. So I’m always on the hunt for really good reading. I have been able to read the entire series, and every book has been amazing.
However, TD goes beyond amazing. This is the book Jerusha Agen was created to write. The story she was born to tell.
As I read, I could sense the purpose and the intensity coming from the author. The desire to really pour out onto the page her deepest and greatest understanding of the character Phoenix Gray.
Up to this point Phoenix was a shadowy, mysterious character. The force behind PK-9, and a powerhouse of determination and dedication. Still, she remained a huge unknown.
And her big reveal was stunning, world rockingly astounding. She was perfectly flawed and, as cold and standoffish as she was, I loved her. Everything about her. My heart broke for her as her story unfolded.
The novel followed an unyielding trajectory that refused to let me breathe because she barely breathed. And the final arc of her journey? **Chef’s Kiss**
I’ll stop here and just urge you to read this series for the buildup to the final chapter. My thanks to the publisher for an advance copy. My review has not been solicited, but is very lengthy because…
…this book is just everything. Highly, highly recommend.
The story of Phoenix Gray is a compelling one, one which will break your heart but also mend it. The themes of revenge, justice, retribution, persistence and survival are prevalent in this novel that has multiple layers and a deep dive into the character of Phoenix. Up until this novel, Phoenix has been an enigma, suddenly appearing when she is needed and then disappearing just as quickly. Her faithful companion Dagian (Dag) is well-trained and just as intuitive as Phoenix. Her natural instincts are a necessary part of what makes Phoenix who she is: a strong and capable leader who never shows her own vulnerabilities. In this novel, Phoenix and Dag’s talents for tracking are put to the test when an evil man kidnaps an entire bus load of third graders and leads them deep into the forest. He is taunting Phoenix to find him because they have a dark history together, but the hunter becomes the hunted in some remarkably told twists. This story captivated my imagination as Phoenix and FBI agent Callum used everything that they knew about tracking and surviving in the wilderness to catch up to the kidnapper and to save the children before he begins to kill them. The danger continues to ramp up, with heart-pounding scenes of bravery; the suspense stays intense throughout the book and made it unputdownable. As I neared the conclusion, I raced through the pages and couldn’t believe what was happening, so I admit that I went back and read the last few chapters again. Unbelievable and totally satisfying conclusion to the PK-9 series! So much happens so quickly in this novel that readers should be warned to buckle up and expect the unexpected. The pace is at a breakneck speed, matching the urgency of the search teams to find the kidnapped innocents. The characters are realistically portrayed and developed so well that I felt the fear that the father Eli felt, the courage of the child Marnie and the determination of Phoenix all the way down to the soles of my shoes. This is a story that touched me deeply, with a heartfelt message of faith and trusting God for the hard things. It is also a memorable story that will stay in my heart and mind. This is undoubtedly one of the best books I have read this year and probably ever, so I cannot recommend it highly enough. Terminal Danger, by Jerusha Agen,is the fifth book in the Guardians Unleashed series. This is Phoenix's story. This is such a good story. It got my attention from the very beginning, held it to the very end and left me wishing for more. It is so well written, it is easy to imagine the search for the missing children. The story contains lots of suspense and mystery and has many twists and turns. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. I enjoyed catching up with the other characters from previous books in the series. I especially enjoyed getting to know more about Phoenix and enjoyed seeing how her character changed. I like how faith is evident in this series and how the characters are so good about caring for each other. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
Terminal Danger is Book 5 and puts a wrap on the Guardians Unleashed series. Phoenix believes she can take down a serial killer she has been trying to find for years. I loved so many aspects of this story. The characters and the story itself are spot on and perfect.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
All I can say about Terminal Danger is WOW!! What a wrap-up to the Guardians Unleashed series. This is Phoenix's story and what a story it is. From the first page to the last, this book grips you and doesn't let you go. I didn't want to put it down. Tracking a child serial killer and finding him is the goal for Phoenix and her dog Dag. And she's not letting anyone or anything stand in her way, not even FBI agent Callum Ross, whose goal is the same as hers. Find this killer. The twists and turns in this book are amazing, but that ending! That totally blew my mind.
Terminal Danger was a hard read for me. Not because it wasn't good, it was wonderful. Page turner isn't the word for it! I would have finished it in one sitting had I not been interrupted by life! Terminal Danger wouldn't let me go as I dwelled on all the possible plot twists, what was going to happen next, and how it would all be concluded. Truly a suspenseful read! It was also heart wrenching and tragic. I waited after I finished reading it before I wrote my review to let the story settle in my heart that I might try to do it justice in my review. It is so fitting that Phoenix should have the final book in the series, although I am sad to see this series end. The PK9 ladies will always have a special place in my heart, especially Nevaeh and Sofia, love these girls! I'd suspected the traumatic past of Phoenix revealed in this book, but nevertheless, it broke my heart. As it rightfully should! Along with the correct dose of righteous anger and horror. I appreciate Jerusha for not backing down and glossing over unregenerate mankind, but handling it in a tasteful way with respect and gentleness for the victims of such brutality. Callum was the perfect hero for Phoenix and it was truly a joy to see the team at last united in Christ! As always, I appreciate Jerusha putting forth a clear gospel message and revealing that forgiveness is not free...justice was paid through the death of God the Son, Jesus Christ. While I am sad to see this series end, it was a fitting finale and I am excited to see what comes next from Jerusha! I in no way did this book justice in my review, as you'll see when you read it, and I hope you do!! I received a copy of this book from the author and was in no way required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a fantastic wrap up to this amazing inspirational romantic suspense series! I could not wait to read the story about the elusive and complex Phoenix Gray of the Phoenix K-9 Security and Detection Agency. I have loved the entire Guardians Unleashed series, and Terminal Danger is the perfect ending!
Callum Ross, an FBI agent, has always wanted to protect people, has specialized in catching serial criminals, but is discouraged at how soon many of these criminals are back on the streets. After twenty years, he is ready to resign but when he has an opportunity to help solve a 20 year old crime, he jumps at the chance. Callum is a highly intelligent agent and is one of the few men that stump Phoenix. He is extremely patient, and totally fine following her directions, yet a strong and capable man. She is secretly impressed by him.
I was speechless at her traumatic backstory, it was very compelling to watch her story unfold. It is heartbreaking and redemptive. I loved it, and could NOT put it down! So many jaw dropping twists and turns, this inspirational romantic suspense story hit it out of the park!
I would be remiss if I did not mention how great it was to have the rest of the women on the K-9 team in on this case, and Phoenix's amazing K-9 dog Dagian. (I loved learning how Phoenix got him!)
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an early e-copy. I can't wait for my pre-ordered copy arrives. It will have a special spot with the whole series on my keeper shelf.
Some books are good, then some change your life. This book is the latter.
Terminal Danger is an exciting read full of suspense and intrigue. But it is the way the the lead characters think and reason that will have you hooked. I have read all the books in the Guardians Unleashed series and have always wondered what made Phoenix they way she is, what makes her tick. I could not have asked for a better wrap up to this series!
This book is book 5 of a series about strong women who have over come some difficult things to help others. Each book can be read as a stand alone, but you would be depriving yourself of the wonderful buildup of Phoenix Gray!
I received an advanced copy of this book, but was under no obligation to leave a review. All thoughts are my honest opinions.
Jerusha Agen, author of Terminal Danger, has struck gold, once again!! Phoenix Gray, who is the founder and mentor of the Guardians, is a quick thinker who can resolve almost anything, usually within mere minutes of hearing whatever the problem is. However, her analytical mind comes with one problem – there is no evident feeling in the empathy, or sympathy, given to others. To the people who know Phoenix best, her team, she seems to have no faith in anyone -- other than in herself. In any previous moments of interaction, the people closest to her know that she has closed off a big very big part of herself – her heart. Throughout Terminal Danger, Phoenix’s emphasis on protecting the innocent, revealed her need to protect children who couldn’t defend themselves. Her love was given to children by giving them tools to protect themselves, as well as others, from the evil in this world. However, when evil kidnapped more than one child, just to draw Phoenix out, she threw herself into the search. During that search, she was reacquainted with an FBI agent, Callum Ross, whom she had met on a previous missing child case. He began to see her as the woman she had become: a woman without faith who wanted to bring the killer to justice. As always, Agen’s story gripped my heart as I hung onto my seat for this crazy and wild ride. I loved every aspect of this book and the tools, as well as the people, that were used to deliver a message of hope, love and faith in an amazing, awesome God. As I read, an adage kept popping into my mind – believe in Him and that Truth will set you free. Thank you, Jerusha Agen for this amazing gift of story! I give Terminal Danger, the end of a fabulous set of books, 5 out of 5 stars.
All I can say is WOW! What a way to wrap up a truly extraordinary series.
This book has it all. A fast paced plot, amazing characters, including amazing K-9s, and plenty of spiritual reminders and guidance. I haven't highlighted any book as much as I have this one. I also love the additions of all the other characters and K-9s from the other books in the series. You can read it as a standalone, but it is so much richer if you read the other books first. Jerusha Agen knocked it out of the park with this one!
I received an ARC of this book as part of the launch team.
This is the third book I’ve read in this series. If possible, start with the first book because all the team members appear in the last one. This series has become a favorite for me due to the strong, dedicated women who make up the K-9 team. It has been amazing to see how the well-trained dogs work with their human partners. Terminal Danger is the final book in the Guardians Unleashed Series. The highlight is that we finally learn more about the quiet leader, Phoenix Gray. For a long time, readers have wondered about the mysterious Phoenix and what motivates her.
The story begins with a gripping event: a bus full of 3rd graders goes missing during a field trip. Phoenix knows exactly who is responsible for the crime and where the children are. We also meet a new character, Callum Ross, who proves to be a strong match for Phoenix in many ways. Callum’s journey to connect with the tough Phoenix is captivating as he stays by her side day and night to rescue the children. While Phoenix has been closed off in the past, it’s fascinating to see how Callum manages to chip away at her tough exterior.
The tension builds with every page as they race through the wilderness tracking the suspect with the help of their K-9 companions, especially Phoenix’s dog, Dag. Phoenix pushes everyone to move quickly to find the children before the bad weather hits. Callum begins to earn Phoenix’s trust. He is impressed by her sharp instincts and her ability to understand criminal behavior. Gradually, secrets come to light, danger escalates, and the action never slows down. There are plenty of gripping moments, and the plot twists combine two storylines, leading to a thrilling conclusion.
The book also shares a message about forgiveness bringing freedom to our hearts, along with a Christian theme about trusting God and having faith.
I’m sad to see this series come to an end, but what a fantastic conclusion! It’s a story that will touch your heart and make you cheer for Phoenix and Callum as they seek peace in their lives.
Phoenix a complexed individual, Dag the amazing dog, an FBI agent, a bad man, and a bus load of children. How does Jerusha Agen weave together this cast of characters into a remarkable story that grabs you right away? Just when you think the story will go one way Jerusha adds another twist into the story. And of course she includes God in the mix. I believe this is her BEST book yet. Read, Read, Read this book you will not be disappointed! I received an ARC copy of Terminal Danger and this is my honest opinion.
I’ve read a few books before by Jerusha and I was very intrigued from the beginning of the books. The series “Guardians Unleashed” is intense and on your sit kind of suspense. I love K-9 books, because dogs have always been very intriguing to me. This was a powerful real and emotional story of a serial killer plot (that’s all the spoil I’ll give) I thought I had figured it out but then bam Jerusha throws me for a loop and I’m continuing to read page after page even into the late night to finish so I know the ending! I
She'll see that justice prevails, no matter what...
This is the book I have been waiting for. Through the entire Guardians Unleashed series I have been beyond curious to find out about the mysterious and enigmatic Phoenix Gray. Finally, Terminal Danger is here and thanks to author Jerusha Agen my burning curiosity has been well satisfied.
Terminal Danger was everything that I had anticipated. It fully lived up to the rest of the Guardians Unleashed books and Jerusha Agen really kept me on the edge of my seat.
From the start I wondered just what kind of a hero could match Phoenix and keep up with her intelligence. Callum kind of surprised me. In some ways he is the stereotypical romantic suspense hero and yet he really isn't. I really appreciated just how much time Jerusha Agen spent in his head as well as in Phoenix's. The inside and outside perspective on each of the lead characters was both fun to read and interesting.
In some ways Terminal Danger was a little bittersweet. It delivered all of the thrills, twists and turns, and excitement that I love in romantic suspense but it is also the last Guardians Unleashed novel. I finally have my answers but saying goodbye to the characters I have come to love over several books is just a tad tough.
Anyway, this is a great book in a wonderful series and best of all, it has dogs. Wonderful, smart K9s who are every bit the heroes that their people are. If you haven't read them yet you are seriously missing out....
(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
I don’t know if I have words adequate enough to express how this book has made me feel or how much the truth contained within it has made me think more deeply about vengeance, justice, and forgiveness. I think this is the best book in the series, though they are all excellent. Phoenix has to be one of the most intriguing, complex, compelling characters I have ever encountered in fiction. Her story is heartbreaking in the most realistic and tragic way, and I am happy to have read it. The thrilling, suspenseful plot kept me reading until I reached the very unexpected conclusion. Unpredictability and real human struggles are the hallmarks of this story, making it even more fascinating and relatable. Ms. Agen is at the peak of her writing career. She doesn’t shy away from biblical truths and unapologetically includes them in each of her books. Though I will miss reading about these brave, intelligent women and their families, I am looking forward to the next book. Hopefully we will see them again in the future. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book for the author. A positive review was not required, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
The final book of the Guardians Unleashed series does not disappoint. Well-written, action-packed, and compelling, it kept me captivated until the very end!
Throughout the other books in this series, Phoenix Gray was an enigma. She put together the Phoenix K9 team, a group of women, each with a K9 with special skills, but Phoenix herself was always a mystery — even to the other women. She had unique skills herself and would use them when needed, but was always a bit aloof.
When a school bus full of third-graders is hijacked by a serial killer who drives them to a large, remote forest, it’s all hands on deck. With their dogs’ unique tracking skills, the Phoenix K9 Team is called to help; alongside the FBI, the local and state police, and park rangers. But Phoenix doesn’t trust anyone; and with good reason, as you will find out.
Can the children be rescued in time? And can Phoenix be rescued from herself? The conclusion will leave you breathless.
I received an advance copy of the book and am voluntarily leaving this review.
Terminal Danger is a fascinating look into the making of a hero - and a villain. It's a psychological thriller like no other and the perfect culmination of the Guardians Unleashed series.
Fans will love this look into Phoenix's backstory. Agen tossed out teasers all through the series, and I couldn't wait to find out what really happened to her. She's so cold and distant that it had to be something big, and it would take someone super insightful to be able to understand her - and Callum is the perfect guy to make that attempt. I loved learning about them both, and if you like stories with the highest stakes possible, you will, too.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.
From the beginning Phonenix Gray has been an intriguing and mysterious character. Her life is kept locked up tight from those around her. This book is about her story. We get to see Phonenix in a new light. She is still mysterious and intriguing but we get to see what really matters to her and her heart behind it. We learn about her childhood trauma that lead to the woman she has become. What drives her as she leads a team to save a bus load of children from a crazy seriel killer and her connection to it all. Her deepest and darkest secrets. This story is full of suspense and action packed around every corner. It will keep you on your toes and not wanting to put the book down. A story full of pain, anger and redemption.
I received an ARC of this book to read and form my own honest opinion.
In Terminal Danger the past and the present intersect. Does the ending of the story that Phoenix has waited for her entire life come to fruition? Does she open her heart to another who may have more in common with her than she thinks? Does she finally realize that God has been with her all along? Does she let justice prevail or does she give into her desire for vengeance for her past?
Hike along in the story Phoenix Gray. Where you will learn about what happened to her as a child, who she really is, and what drives her to be what she is today. You will not be disappointed!
I really loved this edition in the Guardians Unleashed series. As always Jerusha Agen fills her stories with adventure, excitement, and of course filled with many different little surprises. Terminal Danger is no different and they just kept coming! Read it today you WILL NOT be disappointed.
I was a member of Terminal Danger launch team and the opinions in this review are completely my own!
What a story and a great ending to a wonderful series, Guardians Unleashed. Getting to learn Phoenix Gray’s story after being intrigued with her through five novels and a prequel novella is a satisfying ending. This book has all you could ask for in a Christian suspense novel. It is a page turner and will keep you wondering what is going to happen next. Phoenix is set on getting justice and finds love, and most of all, Christ along the way.
Phoenix Gray gets her story and it was well worth the wait! Jerusha Agen has given us the best of the PK-9 stories all wrapped up in this final installment. We finally learn about the complex and painful history that created the strong and confident leader Phoenix Gray. I love that, as a reader, we get to understand what motivates her and glimpse the deep seated pain she carries. The author also gives us the perfect counterpart to Phoenix through the character of Callum Ross. Because he had to overcome his own dark past, he understands Phoenix in a way no one else has.
Terminal Danger contains plenty of plot twists that kept me on the edge of my seat (and up late reading). The author did a great job unfolding the mystery and pursuit of the elusive serial killer. I loved seeing into the mind and heart of Phoenix in her plan to seek justice and I love the character arc as the story progressed. I definitely recommend this book, especially if you enjoy suspense and a little romance.
I received an advanced copy. My review expresses my honest opinions.
This was a difficult book to judge. It’s the conclusion to this series and really needs to have the full series read for it. If I did not have that background, I think I would’ve had bigger issues at the end.
It’s a hard book to review without spoilers. I went with a 4.5 for this book. Almost all of it was an incredible, twisty adventure. I enjoyed predicting twists and turns and seeing all of our characters. The end is what pulled on me a bit.
This book is about justice (aren’t they all?) and a journey towards Christ. This book has strong characters, setting, and background. I was glued in for much of it.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I think Terminal Danger is the best book I’ve ever read. This book tore me apart and put pieces of me back together I didn’t even know needed healed. This book was beautiful. Jerusha Agen did an amazing job tackling the tough topics in this book, and her writing is a God given gift. I can’t wait to see what she writes next!
I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.
Book: Terminal Danger Author: Jerusha Agen Series: Book 5 in the Guardians Unleashed series Rating: 5/5
Wow. This story just kept getting better and better as you read on. I have not read all of the books in this particular series, but I have read at least one and I remember thinking how talented this author was. I love books that incorporate dogs and action and adventure. The story is so fastpaced and so full of twists and turns that you won’t be able to stop reading. The author has an amazing way of weaving in faith elements that don’t make it too preachy. I was able to take in the whole story without distraction, even though I have not read all of the other books in the series. I definitely plan on going back to read more because the books are just that good. The main character Phoenix Gray is very interesting and unique. She’s not a typical main character in my opinion and she stands out from the crowd. Reading the author’s thoughts near the end of the book was also really interesting with how she said that she initially struggled to write Phoenix’s story. I actually was not sure how the ending was gonna go, which is pretty impressive with the amount of romantic thrillers and suspense that I read.
Highly recommend this thrilling, fastpaced adventure, with romance, rescue dogs, and a story you won’t want to put down.
My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.
Terminal Danger is a fast-paced, action-packed with a gripping suspense filled with danger, romance, and K-9s complete with a strong faith. It will you on the edge of your seat and keep your interest throughout the story. It's captivating, well written, has a good storyline. It's definitely a page turner.I love Phoenix and her K-9 This story will speak to your heart.
Wow, just wow!! I have been waiting to read Phoenix's story for years and I was not disappointed. However, I will say that it wasn't what I expected (in a good way). The characters were relatable ,the storyline intense, and the ending was just perfection. Absolutely 5 stars and I wish I could give it more!
I received this book to read and review - all opinions are my own.
