WesternLarge Print EditionJerrod Danmyers family was among the first of those to migrate and establish a ranch near the town of Eden in Kansas. Ten years later, Stover Gates brought his family from the coal mines of Ohio. But soon after their arrival, Stovers brother was killed by Jerrods brother, starting a blood feud that continues to rage. Now a plague of locusts is threatening to destroy their entire valley. Some folks see the pestilence as a sign from God, a chance to repent but others see it as a chance to line their pockets, even resorting to murder to get what they want . . .
This author that is around 78 years old wrote his last book most likely in 2020 (The Valeron Series) I have loved all of his books, characters, and stories but he cuts them too short! This couple had to work so hard and go through such hardships to make it. Like someone said—a Romeo and Juliet like story. Damn this author always cuts his stories too short. The evil Quantrill raiders show up again. The hordes of locusts/crickets are about the worst villains here. I deplore mean, over zealous fathers that treat there children like chattel and slaves
I loved this one and loved being surprised by the ending! I had to collect cow pies one winter at my grandparents ranch, though I was lucky that they were in a dry barn! A early snow had the fire wood pile buried under six inches of snow. A smell I hope I never experience again! Loved this book!
Well, you talk about a man that never gives up. Wait until you read about Jerrod Danmyer. I couldn’t put this book down. I read straight through from start to finish.
