.ೃ࿐ Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks and Kate Dramis for the opportunity to read and review the ARC and listen to the ALC before release! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

ੈ✩‧₊˚ my thoughts

This series just kept getting better with each release.

“War has descended. The enemy's power grows. And the lost, the hopeless, cannot help but wonder…where is the Second Saint now?

Torn between duty and empathy, light and dark, love and loss, Aya must find a way to free herself and finally decide her true path. Can she fulfill the prophecy and save the realm? Or should the gods pay for what they've done?

I can’t believe this series is over. I’m going to miss this world, these characters, and WillAya so much. The Curse of Gods was such a perfect ending to this wonderful (and very underrated) series. The stakes were high, losses were lead, and I truly couldn’t put it down.

The found family aspect of this series is absolutely precious and in this final installment, the characters were put through their paces, but also well-honored in the finale of the trilogy. I generally am quite picky with my found family loves because I don’t always connect with all the side characters, but Kate Dramis really made me love everyone and the focus was quite well-divided between Will & Aya and all the side characters.

The series had really expanded in complexity in book 2 and I was kind of nervous to find out how Dramis would bring everything to a close and if some plot lines would be left open. I think Dramis did a wonderful job bringing everything together in the end.

Also, could we please pressure Fairyloot to release the final book in this series? I need to have a matching set for my shelves 😩

.ೃ࿐

In particular, regarding the ALC, I thought it was very well produced and easy to listen to. I liked the continuity in the narrator throughout all 3 books. As a whole, I wish the audiobooks had gotten an extra narrator since there were so many POVs, I think it would have worked well.

"Will loved to lose himself in a book, but Aya… Aya was by far his favorite thing to read."

Aya is missing, and Will will do anything to find her. At his side are his friends, including Aidon, a newly appointed king, but now on the run because of the forbidden power he showed on the battlefield, one that forfeited his right to the throne. Now his kingdom is fighting its own civil war.

But rumors spread across the lands that the second saint, Aya, is a dark saint and is killing innocents. Chained and drained of her power, Aya is powerless to stop the true darkness, unless....

This is book three of The Curse of Saints, and is a great ending to a good series. (The first book was good, the second was lacking, but this one... Great!)

Since this is the last book, I don't want to give out any spoilers, but yeah, this one blew the first two out of the water!

Sure, the romance was a little sappy and far-fetched, and of course, there just had to be adult scenes, which makes this unsuitable for readers under eighteen, but they weren't overly detailed. If only the author had 'closed the doors', I would've given this one more star! But the action, world, and character development were life-like, and the reader was pulled into the world and the characters' lives.

I did listen to the audio, and HOLY *&*&* Devon Sorvari is talented! Her voices for the different characters, including the males, were great; you knew different characters were talking!

As for the book cover, I like this one; the other not so much. (It's irritating that the publisher has two different book covers for the books in this series... It's almost as if they hope people will buy both styles, either by choice or accident.)

While the series' first two books weren't as good, this makes up for them! Highly recommend!

2025 reads: 206/300

i received an advanced listening copy from the publisher via netgalley. i am leaving this review voluntarily.

in this conclusion to the curse of saints trilogy, aya, the second saint, has gone missing. as will desperately searches for his lost love, he’s joined by aidon, a wielder of forbidden magic who sent his own kingdom into civil war. if they don’t find aya soon, their realm will fracture. aya is bound and tortured by the first saint, who plans to use her to destroy the gods who killed her five hundred years ago. aya must find a way to free both herself and the realm before the first saint succeeds.

what a great conclusion to this trilogy! our main characters were pretty scattered—some by distance, some by beliefs—which made for great tension. i especially thought this developed aya and will’s relationship so well. despite everything they were both going through, they had time to think about the other and their relationship with them. we also got to know a few of the side characters more, and i really loved josie and alleissande together! of course, in addition to all the romance, there was a great plot, filled with various twists and so much action. it was great seeing aya continue to grow into her power in this book.

narration: devon sorvari returned to narrate this audiobook, which made me happy! her narration suited these books so well. i highly recommend this audiobook to those who enjoyed the previous two books!

I really wasn't sure what to expect next after *that* cliff-hanger ending in The Curse of Sins. One thing's for sure, The Curse of Gods was a wild ride and a fitting conclusion to the trilogy!

What I love about this series:
🐺 Fantasy romance
🐺 Morally grey, kick-ass MCs
🐺 Enemies to lovers
🐺 Electric chemistry
🐺 Witty banter
🐺 Magical affinities
🐺 Bonded wolves
🐺 "Aya, love"
🐺 For fans of the Grishaverse
🐺 Great diversity rep

You know I love Will and Aya. So, is it really bad that I enjoyed seeing a desperate Will, terrified for Aya's safety in this book? Or to see a favourite badass book boyfriend who "would let the world burn if it saved her", actually put to the test? This and so much more in the intense final book of the series. You know you want to read it! A shout out to the deep friendships in this too; love them 🥲

3.5 stars, rounded!

Reading Will and Aya’s story come to a close brings an almost ambivalence feeling. I will miss them admirably, yet the way it ended was so deserving with all they have each individually been through.
Yet when thinking of all the characters that have been introduced throughout the series, my star favorites are no doubt Josie and Aidon. Their chapters alone were what I most enjoyed, and I loved how each got to have their own fairytale ending.
I can’t even begin to express the emotional turmoil I was experiencing to Pa’s fate— I was truly in shock, TWICE.
The only things I felt this conclusion lacked in compared to her prior two books- was the pacing. I was almost halfway and felt not a lot had yet to progress. And then we had such a strong buildup for Evie that was almost over and done with pretty quickly. Yet I did appreciate the reference of an ant to a God- that was brilliant in its own right.
The final quarter definitely saved this book for me. Am I delusional to one day hope for spin-offs? I will always be wanting to revisit Tala and Trahir, they are something truly special.

Thank you Dreamscape Media, NetGalley and Kate Dramis for an early copy of the Audio ARC

Sheesh, what an epic, tense conclusion to the trilogy! There were no dull moments; I was hooked the entire time. This blew the first and second book out of the water!
The character development was so intricate and well executed. The relationships had so much depth- the tension, pining and yearning for HUNDREDS of pages, Kate made us work for it!
I wish there were more books but the conclusion was satisfying.

Is it possible to give a book a standing ovation?

Just as amazing as the first time I was able to read this story, if not even better. A very solid and satisfying conclusion to this story in a way that will have you gasping, crying, laughing, and smiling. Such amazing characters and such solid work. So proud of my beloved pookie :')

Thank you to Netgalley for the e-ARC of this book to read. This series has been my favorite enemies to lovers series since the first installment of this trilogy, and I have been eagerly anticipating this finale for a long time!

I loved this finale. We dig deeper into the lore and religion of the world, and the conflicts set up in book one come to a satisfying and beautiful conclusion. Throughout this series, I have been in awe of the scenes Kate Dramis creates. I would sit and re-read scenes--not just phrases or paragraphs like I do with many other author's works. This series is amazing, and I will also be checking out everything else the author publishes.

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC!

It took me a bit to collect my thoughts on this one beyond "inconsolable wailing" because saying goodbye to any beloved series is always a bittersweet experience, but I am finally here with what are hopefully some coherent thoughts.

"The Curse of Saints" trilogy is hands down my favorite romantasy series (as well as one of my favorite series in general) and this third and final book cemented that love even further. Truly a 5-star series all the way through. I feel like I've heard people say some variation of "This book took me forever to read because I wanted to savor it/wasn't ready to say goodbye!" so many times, and until "The Curse of Gods", I personally could never understand that sentiment. I've always been one to get swept up in the excitement and swept away by the action, and before I know it the book is over and the series along with it. But with this book? Yeah, I get it now. I didn't want it to end. I couldn't say goodbye. I kept making myself stop and save more for the next day because of it.

Admittedly, romantasy is not typically my genre. In theory, it always seems like the perfect combination of things to make me love it. In practice, though, I regularly run into too many things that don't work for me. Too often it feels like everything else about the book gets sacrificed for the romance. Not even the romance, the LUST. World building feels half-baked (coming from a lifelong epic fantasy nerd, especially), major plot holes and contradictions are brushed over because the plot almost seems secondary to the budding relationship, the romance feels rushed and driven by physical attraction more than anything else. And once the MC and the love interest finally get into the relationship, it too often feels like all the tenderness and friendship and all the other soft, "make your heart ache" things get thrown out the window because all that matters now is the physical aspects of them being together. Where is the yearning? The tenderness? What is there besides physical attraction to make me believe these characters care about each as people, as friends, as partners? All that being said: this series has none of those issues. The world building is rich and actually makes sense, the plot is deeply engaging, the romance is a beautiful, beautiful slow-burn, and all the tenderness remains. Kate Dramis kept me convinced all the way through that these two characters actually LIKE each other (well… once they stopped hating each other, but you get the idea) and don't just lust for one another. Will and Aya make me crazy. Feral. Deeply Unwell. "Fight with me. No matter how far the fall". Are you kidding me?! That lives RENT FREE inside my brain. I find myself saying it in my head all the time. What a thing to say. What a profound expression of love. I loved seeing where their relationship went in this final installment. Will's willingness to burn the entire world down for Aya is one of his hottest qualities, if I do say so myself. I was on the edge of my seat shrieking on more than one occasion while reading this. Kate Dramis writes romance so, so, so well.

But there were also some really incredible friendships in this series, and complex family dynamics to pull at your heartstrings. Honestly, all the relationships in this series are stellar. Will and Aidon? Aidon and Aya? Aya and Josie? Josie and Will? Josie and Cole? Liam and... Everybody? Etc, etc. You get the idea. I really appreciate how much platonic and familial love are both treated with just as much importance as the romantic love in this series. But then again, I've always been a sucker for "The Power of Friendship".

The final book in any fantasy series is very… Well, everything kind of rests on it, doesn't it? It's the thing that can make or break the whole series. You find yourself thinking: "Okay, so the author has built up this huge conflict, and now here we are at the final, epic battle. The bad guy either wins or loses. The heroes either prevail or fail. Can the author pull it off?" I'm pleased to announce that Kate Dramis pulled it off. I shouldn't have been surprised, after everything that went down in book two. I knew she could raise the stakes and blow my mind. I knew she could kill it (no pun intended?) when writing epic battle scenes. I knew she could have me shaking the book (in this case, it was my phone) and screaming "THEY HAVE TO SURVIVE!" like the mantra could dictate the course of things. I knew she had it in her, but it's still a relief to see it pulled off so beautifully in the last book.

Finally, I suppose the only other thing I have to say is: THAT FINAL LINE? I will simply never recover. The perfect closing line doesn't exist... Except now it does.

This series, to me, is criminally underrated. Of course, the fellow fans reading this review on the final book don't need to hear me say that, so I guess this last bit is for the people following me: Read this series. It's so much fun. It's incredible. It's worth it. I think I'll carry it around in my heart for the rest of my life.

I will read anything and everything that Kate Dramis writes in the future. She's won herself a lifelong reader in me. I am so excited to see what she does next, while also mourning the ending of such a great series. I'm looking forward to release day of "The Curse of Gods" so that I can get my hands on a physical copy and re-read the entire trilogy. Repeatedly. Forever and ever. (Seriously, this is now in the annual series re-read rotation.)

I'm not entirely sure how to end this review, so I guess I'll just reiterate: inconsolable wailing.

Thanks again to NetGalley!

The Curse of Gods is a nice conclusion to the saints series, perfectly weaving it's story to an end.

The story starts right where it left of, with Aya in captivity and ready to be used by Evie to complete her goals. Evie made sure she remains pretty much indetectable by using Aya as her scapegoat - making sure she's the one seen as the big evil 'dark saint'.

Meanwhile, in the rest of the realm there is a lot of unrest and the side characters eventually scatter around - and also end up together.

The group sets off (starting their journey in different parts of the realm) to find Aya first and clasp hands together for their final battle and finally bring peace to their people. Even if this means to use 'different means' to get there, or... different people you weren't very fond of before. They succeed in bring realms and individual missions together for the greater good.

The book switches to several POVs, meaning that we get to experience the story from a lot of perspectives. What's also nice is that there is not one single character who comes off as 'perfect', they all have their flaws and their own inner battles to deal with.

Romance wise; there's not a huge focus on romance - but enough for the average fantasy reader. Although, maybe for those who prefer romance to be the main front, it might not be your cup of tea.

➡️Not all readers are the same and therefor a disclaimer: If you appreciate (or rather stay away from) gay relationships, then you must know that these are mentioned in this book. There are also sex scenes, not in great detail but detailed enough (it's not glanced over). So if you're looking for 'clean romance', this wasn't that.

All in all, a nice conclusion to the series & I was very happy to receive an invite to review this book from the publisher. Thank you! 💫

4/5 Stars

The Curse of Gods was an emotional and action packed finale to a very intense series. The found family, losses and gains, was holding me together for this book. Watching everyone push through and endure was sometimes absolutely heartbreaking (Aya, my baby). Sometimes, especially in a book that is so long, the plot can get convoluted or drag in the middle but I was never bored and I ate this up.

For the audio, the narrator was amazing! Devon narrated the past two books and the continuity and familiarity was really helpful in jumping right back into the story and feeling the highs and lows of our cast of characters. I was much more invested with the audio than I would have been just reading on its own.

Overall, this series broke my heart and put me back together again. Some of the plot twists throughout had me in shock and I was never ready for how brutal the losses were. The conclusions for everyone felt natural and well earned and I find myself wishing for an epilogue that gave me just a little more of a glimpse of their happy futures. I'm desperate to know they finally found peace after crazy monarchs, war, and angry gods.

I have been dying for the final book in this series after where book 2 left off and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This book was so stressful and emotional and action packed and I could not put it down.
Poor Aya really went through it in this book and there were times I was tempted to skip to end just to find out if everything would work out okay.
Despite being separated for a large portion of this book you could feel the connection and the love between Will and Aya and how they would stop at nothing to save each other. They were truly soulmates who would find each other in any lifetime and I ate it up.
I also loved getting more of Josie and Aidon’s stories. They were such fun characters in the previous books and I loved seeing them grow and get the endings they deserved.
This book was a wild ride and I already wish I could read this series again for the first time. From start to finish I was so invested and every single book surpassed my expectations.

A finale that shakes the world and leaves the world changed forever…
I’d like thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the amazing opportunity to listen to this book. I am forever thankful and my review is a honest reflection of my fleeings towards this book.
I will be completely honest, I don’t remember a lot of the books that came before this one but I do remember being absolutely obsessed with book 2 and that ending was everything.
I was able to piece together what was going on within the first few chapters thankfully and was thrown back into this climax of this war. Its characters were brought back to the forefront with stunning clarity. The narrator was again, a perfect choice to bring Aya and company’s journey to a conclusion.
Would absolutely recommend this series to anyone looking for a trilogy that will take over your life.

So much emotional turmoil! I really enjoyed the multiple story lines crossing over each other. It gave so much depth for the story line. The narrator did a phenomenal job! I rarely get emotional when reading but the she was able to break me down and also bring me back up!

This was the PERFECT ending to the trilogy. Kate Dramis knows what she’s doing! Aya is one of my favorite FMCs ever, and Will… DROOL. The story was perfectly executed. I didn’t feel that there were any loose ends - she did a great job wrapping everything up. 5/5!

Here we are at the end of an era and wow. I’m sad it’s over, but that just means I can come back and explore it some more in depth. This book had me teetering on the edge of my seat for a good amount of time and also had some softer moments balanced throughout. While there were some rather slow and a bit unnecessary parts, these were more infrequent. For the most part though, I thoroughly ate up all the chaotic fast-paced action scenes laced with desperation, hope, and raw emotion. It sure felt like a story about war, that’s what I can say with certainty. And with this theme meant that there had to be some deaths that made me really sad, but again, war in all its destruction practically demands this. However, it was not in vain because we reached such a satisfying conclusion that tied up a lot of loose ends stretching back to book one. I really admire the author for exploring such emphatic themes such as religion, abuse, and feeling one’s emotions. I must comment on the relationships in this series, both romantic and non-romantic. The deep friendships and sibling dynamics were just as heartwarming and tear-worthy as the romantic relationships. I love Will and Aidon’s friendship progression in particular, though I do wish we got more of them because their development felt a bit rushed and forced toward the end. But I was surprised how deep the bonds became between Aya and Aidon, Aya and Josie, Liam and Will, Liam and Aya, and so many other pairings. Hells, the entire group dynamic encapsulated the found family trope so well it made me feel all fuzzy inside. And of course, I can’t not mention the romances. Aya and Will went through the absolute wringer throughout the whole series and also individually (especially in this one ouch). But their love for each other has only strengthened their characters, with each of them assuring the other that they are not the dark monsters they thought they were. Their trust in each other has also come a long way. I almost forgot there was a time Aya couldn’t bring herself to trust Will at all and was determined to cast him as the villain. There is zero trace of that in this book and that is a testament to their bond. May this level of trust come to me in a future relationship please. Anyway the other romances were sweet as well, including Josie and Aleissande, and Aidon with a new character we’re introduced to. As for individual characters, Aya’s experience in this one was the most heartbreaking for me. Her endurance in the face of so much abuse and torture was admirable. She stayed strong for so long, but I am glad she had the opportunity to break down and heal with the little time she had before more hell broke loose. I’m thankful her healing journey is portrayed in a way that doesn’t diminish what she went through. Yes, she’s strong in more ways than one, but she shouldn’t have to be forever so I’m happy she got the ending she did. Will was my favorite character in the entire series and he had a really tough time here as well. I really loved the portrayal of his “Desperation” taking many different forms over the course of the series. I’m glad (and sad) we got to explore his history of abuse at the hands of his father in his childhood and how that has impacted his adult mindset. But the best part is that we see immense growth from him regarding this mindset. My favorite revelation of his was that it is not weak to feel overwhelmed by emotion. After all, that’s what he was made for, as he put it. His mask eventually did fall down though it did feel a bit sudden as if I couldn’t pinpoint exactly when it started to happen, but I’m happy about it all the same. Aidon was a character I found okay in the first book, but this one solidified my deep admiration for him. He’s forced to confront many things about himself after he reveals his power, including whether he is fit to lead and even how he approaches love. But throughout the series I have noticed his loyalty and devotion to others has never wavered and I respect him for that. He really is the king that his people deserve. Josie really stepped it up in this book with Aidon away from home. She doubts her ability to handle political matters, especially with a civil war on their hands, but she pulls it off admirably. She is also a true leader for her people and her growth in the whole series was also impressive. And how can I forget about the lovable side characters we met along the way? Liam, Cole, Aleissande, Galda, Suja, and so many more. I could gush about this series forever honestly. The worldbuilding still has a special place in my heart for the way it makes me feel. This book’s plot was also well-written and had some twists I should’ve expected but did not (as usual). I have no more words other than to say this series might be joining some of my all-time favorite fantasy series.

This book was everything. It broke my heart into shatters, then gently put all the pieces back together and hugged it. WOW, what a wonderful, perfect conclusion to the series.

But let’s backtrack– at the beginning of the book, we find the characters pretty much where we’ve left them… in horrible situations. Will is trying to find Aya, Aya is basically suffering the Seven Hells, Aidon’s in hiding, and Josie’s heading back to Trahir. Everyone is in a sketchy position, and that’s always a good start to the last installment in a series.

The first half of this book will have you crying, screaming, and probably throwing your copy against the wall- but that’s what makes it so good. Then the second half, I basically binged and only put the book down because I needed a break from all the emotions. It was so full of heartfelt and heartwrenching moments between the characters, of twists and turns in the plot, and I loved and savored every second of it.

About the characters... I think, although this series in general has an incredibly engaging plotline and super interesting world building and magic system, its strength is the characters. I fell in love with every single one of them in the first book, and my love only continued to grow throughout the series.
Aya and Will really have my heart and are now some of my favorite characters ever (and one of my absolute favorite couples too, the unconditional love and trust they have for each other... Kate, you've spoiled me forever). They go through so much, especially in this book.
Aya faces so much trauma (there are content warnings at the beginning of the book), but i loved how she was resilient and never lost herself to it – even when she was tired, even when she wanted to give up, even when it was easier to give in and go “on the dark side”, she was still Aya and she always found it in her to fight a little bit more. She is everything to me <3 (iykyk). And Will... he begins to understand that being vulnerable doesn't mean being weak, and I adored how he showed his softer side more and more as the story progressed.

Every character has their time to shine: Aidon, Josie, Aleissande, Liam, and also some new characters… they all add their flavor to the story, and you can’t help but fall in love and root for them. The tension and chemistry within the new romantic storylines were so good they had me giggling and kicking my feet, even in the middle of a war. And also the friendships that continue to develop in this book? Aidon, Will, and Liam might be my new favorite trio; their banter had me cracking up, but through it, you could see how much they love and care for each other.

Don't get me started on the villains. We’ve had some good ones in the first two books BUT NOW, wow… and, for last, the Athatis were legit characters in this book - I mean, they’ve always been present in the story, but let’s face it, we all need to thank Tyr if these people are still alive!!!

That all being said. The story had a wonderful and heartwarming conclusion, even through the sadness of some parts of it. I love where the characters end up, and I feel fully satisfied with the ending, even though I'm sad that this is the last we’re seeing of everyone and this world. Please read this book and let it destroy you, and then put you back together.

And, last but not least, thank you, Kate, for writing such a beautiful story. It will forever be in my heart; this is absolutely one of my all-time favorite series.

Curse of the Gods is the conclusion to the romantasy series that features a unique pantheon of gods, Visya who are blessed with a drop of their power, humans, and one very pissed off saint. With Gods, the story starts back within the week of the attack that weakens Dunmeaden and sees the return of Evie, The First Saint. The events of this book are given to us from multiple view points, times, and places in the realm, so I admit that at times I got a bit confused as to the timeline as I read. Eventually, these things all merge together and are no longer confusing, so don't stress, but I personally struggled for a hot minute at the beginning. Other than that small hiccup, this book was everything that I could have wanted for the conclusion of this trilogy and the characters that I have come to love.

Aya and Will's journey, both individually and as a couple, as this series has progressed, as not failed to hold my attention. We see a lot of Aya and Will's thoughts and feelings during this novel, and it helps make these characters even more three-dimensional. Will's quiet love and devotion for Aya, 'no matter how far the fall', is beautiful to read. Aya's time spent with Evie was one of the more well written of those types of scenes. I do wish we had more time later in the novel to see more of how Aya (and collectively with Will) dealt with the trauma that she had from during that time, but a lot of this book is information and scenes setting up to the penultimate battle, and understandably so.

This book does have some spice to it, but I would rate it a milder 3/5 for shorter/less graphic bedroom scenes than other novels in this genre. The yearning and angst between not only our two main characters, but other loveable side characters in this novel is an 11/10. This book does deal with some heavy topics, so readers who are more sensitive may want to check out a trigger list for this novel.

I also enjoyed this final novel of the The Curse of Saints trilogy in audiobook form, and it was devine. The narrator, Devon Sorvari, has a very smooth voice. I did increase the pace of the narration as I listened to 1.25 because it was a little slow for me, but that pace was perfect for the novel. I had no trouble understanding any of the ways that she pronounced the unique words to the world that Dramis has crafted. I would definitely be interested in hearing other productions that she has done.

I loved every bit of this trilogy, and I'm so sad to see these characters go. Kate Dramis really honored the characters in this final novel. I laughed, I cried, I cringed in anxiety waiting to see what was about to happen next. Curse of the Gods is currently still living on in my head hours after I've finished it. I can't wait to see what kind of worlds Kate Dramis will introduce us to next.

I’ve been following Kate Dramis on Instagram since before she got a publishing deal and she was dropping snippets of The Curse of Saints. I was so happy when she got a publishing deal, especially in the US, so I could snag a copy to read. You couldn’t help but be giddy and excited along with Kate Dramis as more of her dream became a reality. We’re now at the last book in this series and I knew it would be heart-wrenching.

No matter how far the fall, we’re all in it together.

While Will, Aidon, and Liam’s goal is to find Aya and save her, things get messy fast. Partnering with Dauphine, a sneaky mercenary, they try to form a team to find Aya and gain allies. All the while, around the kingdoms, Aya is seen as the Dark Saint due to Evie’s influence and power, but no one ones that the First Saint is back and is the one in control. Aya’s lost hope and believes everyone she cares for is dead or about essentially dead. Trying to navigate torture and decisions that would sway the war, Aya is met with someone she knows but doesn’t truly care for all that much.

Josie, Alleissande, and Cole fight their way through their enemies and try to find a way to reclaim the throne for Aidon. Of course, Josie and Alleissande are also met with the “problem” of their feelings for each other.

With everyone splitting up and coming back together, we are constantly seeing different point of views, which in this case, I enjoy. Each character is flawed, has their doubts, and is someone you can relate to in some way. Aidon is met with Dauphine’s personality that compliments this own, but we don’t get to really know much about their relationship. Josie and Alleissande don’t have the biggest spotlight either, that I wish would have been highlighted more. I know Aya and Will are the main duo, but these other characters are main characters too being part of this group over the course of the series.

Following this story for so long, I’m content with the conclusion, but I actually wish there was a little more just to fully wrap everything up.

I only have one remaining question though- Aidon and Josie’s parents. I gotta know!

I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

If you enjoy the high stakes, multi-POV across kingdoms, found family, magic and gods, trauma and healing, from Throne of Glass or Daughter of No Worlds, then you will love this series. Our main POV is Aya, a magic wielding Visya who discovers her kernel of power is much more than that. As the reluctant chosen one, she is aided across kingdoms by Will, the morally grey rival and the queen’s enforcer. They befriend neighboring royalty Aidon and Josie, who get pulled into their schemes, and many more friends and enemies are made along the way to healing their realm from the dark powers that are stirring.

YOU CAN EXPECT -
Epic Romantasy
Dark Chosen One
Magic & Gods
Rivals to Lovers
Hurt/Comfort
Found Family
Rage & Grief
Trauma & Healing
Rich Worldbuilding
Diverse Characters
Mid-20s MCs
Multi, 3rdP POV
Completed Trilogy

All the characters had so much depth, they were multifaceted and had to work through issues of morality, faith, sacrifice, and love. It made them that much more real to all be a little on the morally grey side. Even the side characters didn’t feel like they were just thrown in there, but contributed to the character arcs. The relationship development is pretty equal to the plot, and I enjoyed the moments the couples were able to steal away from the battles. Our main POVs are Aya, Will, Aidon, and Josie; but there are a few others sprinkled in as well to further the story. I appreciated seeing all sides, it definitely would not have had the same depth if it was just one or two.

I loved the world building throughout this series. We get to see a few kingdoms with a variety of customs and worship styles. The magic system is not too unique, in that those blessed with a kernel of the gods powers have one affinity that they can use, whether elemental, physical, or mental, but I like how they were organized and used.

While the debut novel was a little slow at times, the second and third books more than make up for it. I thought I wanted a fluffy palette cleanser in between the heavy themes, but ended up not wanting to leave. There were some big twists at the end of book two, and it took half this book to unravel them. I thought it came together perfectly in the end and was a very satisfying conclusion to this trilogy.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for providing an eARC for my honest opinion.

Another day, another review - FIVE STARS
The Curse of Gods by Kate Dramis
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
RELEASES 8/12!! The first book is on KU.

I made a small mistake in not reading the blurb on this one before requesting. I didn’t realize it was the 3rd book in a series. THAT DID NOT STOP ME. I loved this book. There was a lot of background story needed to really immerse in this plot, but SO MUCH PLOT is in this book. Thank you NetGalley, Sourcebooks and Kate Dramis for this story. I will be going back to read books 1 & 2. Halfway into the book I also got approved for the audio for this and it was fire. The narrator did a great job painting pictures of what was going on. Even though I missed out on some of the prior story, I was really immersed in this world. My favorite part was the cottage - swoon.

Blurb about the book 👇

War has descended. The enemy's power grows. And the lost, the hopeless, cannot help but wonder…where is the Second Saint now?

Aya has gone missing, and no one has heard whisper of her—not even Will. Desperately searching the continent for some sign of his lost love, he's soon joined by Aidon, recently on the run after showing forbidden power at the battle of Dunmeaden…throwing his own kingdom head-first into civil war.

Time isn't on their side. They have to find Aya soon, or all the realm will fracture.

But what no one knows is that Aya has not been lost, but taken: bound and tortured, at the mercy of the vengeful first saint. Filled with rage, the saint plans to use Aya to destroy the gods who killed her 500 years ago…no matter the cost to those left behind.

Torn between duty and empathy, light and dark, love and loss, Aya must find a way to free herself and finally decide her true fate: Can she fulfill the prophecy and save the realm? Or should the gods pay for what they've done?

The Curse of Gods is the final installment in the stunning romantic fantasy series, The Curse of Saints.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

When I say I couldn’t wait for this book to come out, I mean I COULD NOT WAIT! Since book one in the Curse of Saints series, Kate Dramis has kept me on pins and needles as we follow Aya and Will’ story. Book one pulled me in, book two left me needing more, and book three exceeded all expectations. I couldn’t put this book down, having to find out how Aya’s story was going to end, what she would decide to do, and if she and Will would get their happy ending. With this trilogy now being completed, I highly recommend reading this fantasy series and falling in love with Kate’s writing.

Aya is a FMC that I love to read about. She is determined, fierce, sassy, and strong. Her journey throughout this story has dealt her both greatness and sadness. As she continues to learn what her power truly is capable of, everything she believes in is put to the test. Now fighting for her life and future, her true power is finally able to be seen. She goes through an inner battle that held me in a vice until she made her choice. Her epic journey is a story that I will forever love.

Will is another force to be reckoned with in this story. As he fights to find Aya and keep her whole, the love he feels for her is easy to feel as you read this story. He is the voice of reason for Aya, but also allows her to do what she needs to do. I loved the support he showed her from the very beginning and their love story is well worth the read. He will go to the end of the earth for his Aya and proves it in this book.

Kate Dramis is a wonderful author that I will always recommend. She is a must read author for me and has been since her first book. She puts so much heart and passion into her stories and it is evident as you read her books. The characters are as real to her as they become to her readers. Full of complex storylines, layered characters, and diverse cast this series is a must read for all romantasy lovers.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

- my thoughts -
The Curse of Gods is a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy that delivers a whole array of emotions and battles that feel like the book equivalent of a huge cinematic set piece. Kate Dramis tells a story of survival; even when it feels like it's unsurvivable, to an all consuming love that will become stronger no matter how far the fall. It also tackles the complexity of grief, but to never let it trick one into believing they're ever alone. Aya, Will and Aidon are definitely put through the wringer in this one.

After all the ups and down, I truly can't imagine a more perfect last line to end on. It felt like such an earned moment for Will and Aya.

- themes -
If The Curse of Sins is an exploration of why we keep secrets, then The Curse of Gods focuses on control and one's fragile grip over it. Each of the main characters feel trapped in their own situations and are left feeling desperate to gain some semblance of control. Aya finds herself a puppet on Evie's string. For Aidon, he's overcome by his emotions and is losing control of his powers, which threatens to devour him. Will normally is able to put on a mask, fitted perfectly for any occasion, but finds himself not in control of his desperation to find Aya.

In addition, the main question at the heart of the book is, "what was a human to a god, after all?" Perhaps nothing, as shown with Evie's character arc. Even a demi-god is nothing but more than an ant before a human, when she's alone and isolated. But for Aya with the help of her loved ones, she was able to be the gods' reckoning.

- the characters -
Aya
She goes through so much throughout the entirety of the book, she just sounds so emotionally exhausted. She’s left feeling broken and unsure of how to pick up the pieces at first. As she puts it’s “the inside wounds that hurt the most.” Yet through the thick of it, she still manages to be brave and to keep pushing through.

Will
His father’s words over his weakness echo in his head, but he learns it’s not a weakness to feel emotions deeply and to love. His love for Aya, allows him to be more open and that shows in his friendship with Aidon, instead of putting on his usual mask of indifference. He learns to keep moving forward and always to Aya.

Aidon
He and Will definitely take the crown for being some of my favorite characters in the series. Together with Aya and Will, Aidon helps to complete the core trio of the series, which is reminiscent of the trio from Throne of Glass, Aeline, Chaol, and Dorian. Aidon struggles so much with finding his place in this world, he questions if he’s not a king, a general, or a prince, then what’s left? His fragile grasp over his powers reflects that inner turmoil, in which he feels like his powers have taken everything from him.

Joise
Josie is able to learn to finally trust again and to move on from the betrayal she faced before. While her point of view was the weaker parts of the book, I still enjoyed the conclusion of her character arc.

- relationships -
With The Curse of Gods, we get to see the deep relationships the trio have with one another. It’s fair to say the friendships in this book are just as impactful as the romantic relationships. As Will puts "it was a different sort of love. Different, but no less important." This is shown with Will and Aidon friendship, they might bicker, but underneath it all they deeply respect one another. Aidon is there for Will when the desperation has a strong grip over Will on their quest to search for Aya. Plus, there's just so many great funny moments between the two, absolutely love their scenes together. It's nice to see just how far their dynamic has come since the first book.

Also, love Aidon and Aya friendship, it's clear that he didn't join Will just to keep Will alive, but also to find his friend. I just wanted to highlight this great moment when he tells her, "you're more than a saint to me. You know that, don't you?" She simply tells him "I do. Because you are more than a king to me."

Aidon relationship with Dauphine is just as good as some of the other relationships in the Curse of Gods, despite having the least amount of development and time in the series. I loved the moment when Dauphine tells him "I'm not afraid of your fire, Aidon. Burn me if you must." After everything Aidon has been through, he needed this.

- romance -
Aya and Will have been together since the end of Curse of Saints, yet the yearning is still at full force and it has always been so well done within the series. So while Aya and Will do spend a good half of the book physically separated, we get a lot of moments together that come in the form of flashbacks from Will's pov. Aya consumes Will's every waking thought, and it's clear that he doesn't just love her but cherishes every moment they ever had with one another. He's the definition of down bad, even the other characters acknowledge that Will loves Aya more than anyone has ever loved another person.

Then there's their reunion, it's almost like the world just stops at that moment. It might have been a long journey to get to that point, but it's so well worth it.

This series will always have a special place in my heart and I’m sad that this is the last time we read about Will & Aya. These two have truly been through hell and back and they deserve to find peace.

To say I was nervous to start this book was an understatement. If you read book two then you know the cliffhanger we were left on. And I knew what direction that was going to take us on with Aya. Without spoilers let’s just say I struggle with hostage/kidnapped scenes. It’s the same reason I struggle with certain scenes in Kingdom of Ash. I just can’t handle it well. The Curse of Gods proved it to me again that those types of scenes are still not it for me. Plus it didn’t help when this situation happened for literally 45% of the book. Which also meant that our main characters were separated for almost 50% of the book. Which for the last book of the series felt wild to me. But hey we eventually got our reunion and it was 100000% worth it.

Now even though I had my issues with the first half of the book. The last half was spectacular. I especially loved Will and Aya’s discussion of their trauma. Watching them both be vulnerable brought a whole new level of intimacy to their relationship. Our characters truly show the reader that after enduring so much pain, love can truly help conquer all. Besides the romance aspect the tension and then the action around the final battle was great. I do wish a certain someone would’ve suffered a smidge more, but hey that’s just reader preference 😉.

Overall, I really enjoyed this triology. Book one in the series will forever be one of my all time favorites and I think more people need to get on board with this series. So please pick it up because I can’t recommend it enough. Lastly thank you to NetGalley & Sourcebooks for allowing me to read and review an arc!

This series does a lot of things well. It has a great balance of fantasy and romance. There is a good amount of political intrigue to keep the reader invested. Maybe it’s because it’s been awhile since I read the second book, but it was slow getting back into the world. It didn’t pick up for me till about the 40 percent mark. In my review of the second book I mentioned it being too long. This one also felt too long, even for a final book in a series. To me, it could’ve been condensed. There were just a few too many perspectives for my liking, but I can see why they are necessary. I wasn’t invested in all the perspectives. Some were better than others. I was always eager for Aidon’s chapters. I enjoyed Aidon and his love interest. I wish we would’ve gotten more of his relationship. It felt underdeveloped. We never truly got to see it flourish. There was more focus on his sister’s relationships.
Aya goes through so much throughout the series. The emotional toll everything has taken on her is well written. There is a desperation in her. The story does a great job of exploring trauma and grief and how to overcome it. I appreciated the discussion of the difficulties one faces with their relationship after experiencing so much trauma. Intimacy and vulnerability can be difficult after enduring so much of pain, even if you love someone. Our characters show us that. I often wondered if Will and Aya would ever get a happy ending. It was one obstacle after another. The last hour had me stressed but it came to a satisfying conclusion.

"Wherever you are, Aya love, is where I will be. In this life, and whatever lies beyond it.”

The Curse of Gods is the third and final novel in The Curse of Saints series. Since this is the last in the series, I don’t want to spoil anything, so here is what I can say!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s over. I ended up bingeing most of this book in one day! Once again, we jump in where we left off and Kate really knows how to continue a story. I love how smooth each book goes into the next. I felt like the entire trilogy had a constant energy. I knew what I was getting when I picked the next up.

The first half of the book was a bit slow moving and it felt like a lot was happening but the story wasn’t going anywhere, but once the ball started really rolling it was really good! It definitely felt like setting story up so that everything fit into place, which is not a bad thing at all.

I’ve previously listened to Devon Sorvari’s narration and she is just so talented! I could always tell the difference between characters. There was a part in chapter 54 where the narrator really had me tearing up. The emotion that Devon portrayed through Aya really hit me.

The ending? Oooh, you had me in the first half I’m not gonna lie. Kate you threw me a curveball and I was SCARED! You never fail to surprise me.

To anyone wanting to get into this series, I highly recommend! It’s perfect for anyone who likes enemies to lovers, touch her and die and found family.

Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the eARC and ALC in exchange for an honest review.

"I've killed one queen," Aya murmured. "It would be nothing to kill another."
