The latest enthralling case in Tess Gerritsen's New York Times bestselling Rizzoli & Isles series, the blockbuster books behind the smash hit TNT series.

Boston Detective Jane Rizzoli is on the case of a big game hunter found dead in his apartment, alone with the body of a beautiful white snow leopard he had recently been commissioned to procure and stuff for a high-profile museum in the area.

Medical examiner Maura Isles connects the case to a number of seemingly unrelated deaths where the victims have all been found hanging upside down, the hallmark of a leopard's kill.

Rizzoli follows the puzzling trail of clues all the way to Botswana, where she uncovers the unsolved mystery of a deadly camping safari six years prior. When she realizes the two cases are connected, Rizzoli must track down the sole survivor of the tragic trip to discover who - or what - is behind these gruesome deaths.

1st and only read....Feb 20, 2017

This book stitches together 2 separate stories.

First is that of an African Bush outing that goes south in a big way. This was no fancy five-star African safari. This clients were promised an outing that involved hunting for the food they would consume on their trip, camping out in tents they pitched themselves. No luxuries, no contact with the outside world. Zip.
Unfortunately, out in the wild lines get blurred between the hunters and the prey. This part of the story was frightening and captivating as the group is cut off from civilization and don't know who to trust in the wild.

The second story-line (not quite as compelling) relates to a series of murders across the U.S that have a similar theme of hunting. Can they tie these murders to the tragedy in Africa? Can all these murders across the globe some how be related?

Detective Jane Rizzo with her friend Medical Examiner Maura Isles begin to investigate and try to determine the link between all these murders.

This is a great series that just keeps getting better! Highly recommend, and even though you can read this as a standalone, start at the beginning of the series...it's worth it! An easy quick read that held my attention throughout.

Final thought....
You may change your eating habits and embrace a vegetarian lifestyle after reading this book!

I think the fact that I finished this book in one day indicates how much I enjoyed it. Tess Gerritsen is in top form and it is one of the best Rizzoli and Isles book she has written. I loved the fact that some of the story is set in Botswana and in Cape Town as well as Boston. In fact there are two story lines running throughout the book one in Africa and one in America and each is as exciting as the other. I frequently felt the need to rush on to the end just to find out how on earth it was going to end and how all the bits were going to combine. And of course it ended with a clever, unexpected twist and a really satisfying conclusion. Fantastic!

This series just gets better and better. Gerritsen really knocks it out of the (Fenway) park this time!

I will admit it was odd to start the book in Africa’s Botswana with seven random tourists… and then head to Boston.

As the current case in Boston slowly takes center stage, the storyline pops back to the safari from Hell. Meanwhile back in the states, the gruesome bodies start piling up.

These books are always four stars reads, but this one really kept me on my toes— no guessing those twists either. Like magic, the reader is looking in one direction as Gerritsen works a literary sleight of hand in another. Terrific plotting and some very suspenseful scenes.

And next time I’m at the zoo, I plan on giving those big cats the respectful distance they deserve… it’ll be awhile before I shake off the terror in this book.

Boston police Detective Jane Rizzoli and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles are back.
 photo 0_zps0mnfilzy.jpg

The 11th book in Tess Gerritsen’s fantastic Rizzoli & Isles Series that grabs you from the first page….
In the slanting light of dawn I spot it, subtle as a watermark, pressed into the bare patch of dirt. Were it midday, when the African sun glares down hot and bright, I might have missed it entirely, but in early morning, even the faintest dips and depressions cast shadows, and as I emerge from our tent that lone footprint catches my eye. I crouch down beside it and feel a sudden chill when I realize that only a thin layer of canvas shielded us while we slept.

Jane & Maura are investigation a bizarre and sinister murder of a well-known game hunter and taxidermist, who has been left gutted and hanging in his home.

It soon becomes clear that his murder may be linked to the disappearance of six tourists in the Okavango Delta six years previously.
 photo XuganaIsland_WalkingSafari_zpsytqn3sr3.jpg
None of them have been seen again, except from one woman, who barely survived in the bush and who may be the only person who knows the killer, who may be continuing his killing spree in Boston.

Jane and her FBI husband travel to South Africa to persuade the lone survivor of the safari trip to help them identify the killer in Boston.

The settings are vividly written….you sense the danger of the African bush, you feel the menace that surrounds the safari group, the fear that the survivor feels.
 photo tree-2879_fs_zps71uqgrev.jpg

The relationship between Jane & Maura– Jane, hot headed, smart tough and Maura, logical and clear headed - their differences are what makes them work so well. As Jane tells Maura…..
We both chose this work because we’re not sunshine-and-ponies kind of gals.’ ”

An intractably woven plot that switches from present day in Boston to six years ago in Botswana. The connection between the two narratives slowly unfolds with heart-pounding. Intense page turning that keeps you guessing until the very end.

Clever, action-packed filled with twists, turns and surprises until the last page!!!

Gripping, terrifying, strong characters, good plot, and guaranteed to keep you awake at night. A group of tourists are driven deep into the jungle of the Okavango Delta of Botswana to experience a trip of a lifetime by camping under the stars, and observing the wildlife. Their excursion soon turns into a nightmare when the hired tracker is found partially eaten not far from their camp. Tess Gerritsen creates an eerie frightening atmosphere as the tourists lie awake scared and on edge while listening to croaks, cries and grunts of unknown creatures waiting to seize another live meal. Die Again is a solid crime thriller.

(My review was deleted for some reason? So I'm uploading it again)

Rating: 3.75 rounded up.

Die Again is a gripping crime thriller that I have very mixed feelings about but I've got to admit, I couldn't put it down. It's the eleventh book in the Rizzoli and Isles series by Tess Gerritsen and the one that introduced me to this author.

The book starts with two different storylines—one being a first person POV of Millie, the sole survivor of an African safari that took place six years ago in Botswana and two, a third person perspective of a murder investigation being conducted by detective Jane Rizzoli and ME Dr. Maura Isles in Boston. When links are established between unsolved murders that have taken place all across the country in the past decade and a clue that connects it to the Botswana safari case, Rizzoli and Isles are forced to track Millie down and ask for her help in capturing her worst nightmare.

When I first started to read this book, I was incredibly excited because it's gory, thrilling and fast-paced. Unfortunately, toward the end of the book, I was reminded of the time I was thirteen and I'd decided to read a Secret Seven book for old times sake and had ended up being so frustrated with the story because it was obvious who the culprit was. I had a similar experience with this one which is why I cannot give it all four stars.

Having said that, I really enjoyed reading this one a lot because the writing is incredible, the characters are likeable and up until I figured the suspense out, the mystery is really gripping and exciting. So I'd definitely recommend this book and I look forward to reading Gerritsen's other works.

EDIT: *HAPPY DANCE* BECAUSE I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS NOT THE LAST BOOK OF THE SERIES, Tess Gerritsen REPLIED IN MY FANGIRLING AND I CAN FINALLY CHANGE MY RATING BECAUSE I WANT TO AND I CAN.

description

Die Again is a wonderful read. It has the usual "Tess Gerritsen" factor.

The well-written gory scenes? description

The parts where Gerritsen knows it's the perfect time for the "cold-chill-in-your-spine" moment? description

The "whodunnit" factor? description

And of course, badass scenes?description

This time,Gerritsen takes us to Botswana, Africa two years ago, where 6 tourists joined for a tour in the bush. This is the place where you are in the territory of beautiful wild animals.

No guys. This is not like Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams music video.

description

This trip is grittier and wilder. It's survival of the fittest which makes me think that if I was there, I would only last for a few days.

description

But something more dangerous than the wild animals started hunting the tourists and only one of them survived the tragic trip.

I love this book now because I'm not disappointed anymore. Tess Gerritsen said that this is not the ending of the series. I have apoligized furiously and promised a lifetime of worship to my Die Again kindle copy because I feel like I've offended it by what I wrote in my review.

I've subscribed to a lot of book blogs and online bookstores, so when I received an email that the last book in the R&I series is on sale blah blah blah, I believed it immediately.( Not the sale part, but the "last book in the series part".

description

I have to search for that darn message in my mountain of unread emails because I want to set the record straight to them. Those bastards, can't they see that there are some naive, ignorant people like me who gets affected with that kind of news? There's a special place in Dante's hell reserved solely for them.

description

But everything is good now because there will be another book(s?) in the series and I can finally reread this book without cynicism.

This isn't the sort of book I normally read.

At all.

But my neighbours & good friends absolutely loved it, in spite of not normally being a fan of Tess Gerritsen's work & pressed this book on me.

In their opinion it wasn't necessary to read the earlier books in this series as they thought they were inferior to this one. I don't know if I agree with this, as there are a lot of mentions of previous events which help explain Jane & Maura's characters & motivations.

What I struggled with at the start was;

• The excessive foreshadowing of the This must have been mentioned six times, so the subsequent, gory discovery was no great surprise.

• The blood, gore & all round gruesomeness. I normally don't do violence (or horror, if it comes to that) & this book came very close to being a DNF at around 10%. But I decided to give the book till around 20% to engage me & I am very glad that I did.

The action was fast paced and the story of gruesome murders & disappearances on a safari in Botswana and the horrifying death of a taxidermist in Boston are intertwined. Or are they? *Evil Cackle.*

Lots of twists & turns so be alert while reading.

Recommended to those with a reasonably strong stomach.

Recommended to me by John & Cara.

4.5 stars.
I have been reading this series for three years, since I started watching the tv series. The books and the series are different, but I enjoy both. This book starts out with a grisly murder. Detectives Rizzoli and Frost are called to scene of an especially gruesome murder. The dead man, Leon Gott, is found hanging from the ceiling. He has been eviscerated and hung up like a hunter hangs a deer. ME Maura Isles is also called to the scene. Dr. Isles ultimately plays a significant role in tying this murder to other murders and helps track down a serial killer.
There are two stories in this book which do connect. One story takes place in Botswana, with a group of tourists on a wilderness safari. Members of the group are being murdered, one by one. The second is the murders in the U.S.
Leon Gott had 2 cats and 1 dog. The dog is adopted by a neighbor. One of the cats stays hidden in the dead man's house, with Frost leaving food for it. The second cat is adopted by Maura. This leads to some funny lines for cat lovers/haters.
Some cat quotes:
Maura--"Could anyone truly trust a cat?"
Rizzoli to Frost, discussing the second cat: " Why don't you adopt it?"
Frost: "I'm a guy."
Erin Volchko, Boston PD lab tech: "A single cat sheds hundreds of thousands of cat hairs in a year."
Maura, musing about the cat turning up his nose at ordinary cat food and ignoring her after he had rubbed against and purred and followed her at the crime scene: "It was the universal lament of disappointed wives: He charmed me, wooed me, and now I'm his maid."
This book is a real page turner. I read it in 3 days. A well done mystery with enough twists and turns that left me guessing until almost the end.
I purchased this book.

Detective Jane Rizzoli & Medical Examiner Maura Isles are investigating the gruesome murder of a big game hunter and taxidermist who died in a similar manner to how he captured his own big cats. Maura eventually finds a connection to an unsolved case in the wilds of Botswana where six members of a safari either were presumed dead or whose bodies were later found. There was one survivor and the suspected murderer has never been seen again. That survivor has taken great pains to stay hidden all these years.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with this story and is a case of “it’s not you, it’s me.” The subject matter was not something that interests me and a great deal of the story takes place during that safari. I’m sure it was fascinating but I just wanted to get back to Boston. Once the story did do just that, it regained my attention.

Tanya Eby repeats as the narrator and did a great job managing a very diverse cast of characters. I liked the continuity. It’s a good story, just not a great one for me. 3.5 stars

Tess Gerritsen is back with another Rizzoli and Isles crime thriller spanning all the way across the bush in Botswana where there is a killer more sinister than the hunting leopard. Die Again tells the story of an adventure in Africa turned nightmare. A group of people travel into the bush in order to get a closer look at what it means to live in the wild. Before long, they become hunted, and it ain't by no lions or tigers.

Six years later, Rizolli and Isles are called to an horrific crime scene where a world renowned taxidermist, Leon Gott, is gutted similarly to the way big game is done. But his remains are not all they find. Before long, the investigation leads them to the bush, where six years earlier, a group of tourists disappeared. Or did they? Mwahahahaaaa...

Anyway, I have been a fan of Tess Gerritsen's work for a long time. She has a way of writing suspenseful, yet informative novels that refuse to let go. These novels are descriptive, especially when it comes to the human body or autopsy scenes. Gerritsen is a doctor, so expect to be amazed... or at least a little grossed out. Once I begin one of her books, it's not an option not to finish it. Die Again is no different.

Although I'm a huge fan of Gerritsen's, I'm still able to read all her novel's objectively. How? Do you ask? Because she can afford to have an honest review or two. My honesty will not make or break her. When Die Again starts, it's clear that we are not trudging along the mean streets of Boston. It is actually a narrative. A really good narrative that brings to life the Botswana bush and invigorates the senses. It is here Gerritsen proves how well she writes. The animals come to life, the character's senses are heightened, and the sense of tension is palpable. I could have stayed in those moments forever.

Sadly, Gerritsen didn't give much attention to detail on the Boston side of things. I want to believe it's because followers of this series don't need too much detail. Detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles need no introduction. For those of us familiar with them, they need no introduction. For others living under a rock, they may want to steer clear of reading this without first checking out prior works in this series. They will be doing themselves a favor.

The one other thing I noticed that kinda made my gears grind was how chick-litish the book really was. When they weren't talking about the perp who is haunting his prey, the characters are talking love, romance, nonsensical things that have no bearing on a crime thriller. I know it's been a while since I've read any books in this series, but were they always so soft? Even bad-ass Rizzoli seemed less... bad-ass.

Anyway, besides my one major gripe, Die Again comes highly recommended. I enjoyed reading every page. Tess Gerritsen always manages to make the tension real enough to feel. I look forward to hunting down the next Gerritsen novel.

4,4 Sterne, abgerundet

-------------------

Volume 11 of the Rizzoli & Isles series is, like all the volumes in the series I know, very suspenseful and has an imaginative plot.

This time it's about the bloody murder of an extremely dislikeable hunter and taxidermist which seems to be connected to the disappearance of a tourist group on safari in Botswana years ago. The links to the incident in Botswana and several similarly suspicious cases in the US are very confusing and difficult to discover, but as always, we can rely on Maura and Jane.

I really like this series, even if it doesn't meet literary standards. But it offers very exciting and varied entertainment with likeable protagonists and sometimes you don't want and need more as a murder mystery fan.

Homicide detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles work in Boston. The story opens with a group on safari in Botswana so the reader may be wondering what is the tie-in. Read on. Tess Gerritsen does not disappoint and this story is a page turning thriller.

Six years previously a diverse group of tourists went on a safari adventure that turned into nightmare. They slept in tents and for food they had to hunt if you wanted to eat. Bathrooms? Find a bush. No contact with the outside world. All they had was their guide and his rifle. And then people started dying. Victims of the wild animals prowling in the night. But, the must dangerous predator was within their own midst. In the end only one other person would walk out (barely) alive.

In Boston homicide detective Jane Rizzoli gets called out to a most unusual and gruesome murder scene. Leon Gott, a renowned big-game hunter and taxidermist, is found dead. Hung upside down and gutted. Claw marks on the body and evidence that something had considered Gott to be dinner.

Maura doesn't believe this is the killers first kill and soon finds links to several unsolved homicides in wilderness areas across the country. Now it appears that the murderer has shown up in Boston. But in order to prove the connection and the identity of the murder a trip to Cape Town to meet the lone survivor of the safari will be needed.

The story alternates between the past, the safari in Botswana, and present day Boston. Gradually you learn the connection. And that there is a predator loose in the city. Jane and Maura work to solve the case but will need the help of someone who is living in fear and hiding. Afraid the killer is still looking for her because she is the only person who can identify him.

Jane and Maura have their ongoing personal issues. Mostly with their mothers. Jane is trying to support her mother whose life is in turmoil and Maura has received letters from her mother with disturbing news. Another great read from Tess Gerritsen that left me looking forward to reading the next story in the series … I Know A Secret

Leopards and tigers and hyenas, oh my! Tess Gerritsen’s eleventh Rizzoli and Isles saga, Die Again , begins with a safari in Botswana. A reluctant bookseller from London has accompanied her boyfriend and several others on safari. What is intended to be a pleasure trip for the humans turns out to be anything but. Only one comes out alive.

Meanwhile, back in Boston, Detective Jane Rizzoli and her partner Barry Frost must deal with a gruesome scene: a taxidermist has been found strung up and disemboweled in his home. This is not a pretty sight. There are also some graphic descriptions of animals being butchered in the wild for survival as well as animals attacking humans. I am not vegetarian, but I do not particularly care to visualize the harsh realities, I guess.

Somehow, Tess Gerritsen manages to connect the two cases. I had a good guess and came close, but I was wrong. There really wasn’t much of a hint as to the guilty party because we knew so little about this individual until the very end. Other than that, the other characters are quite well developed.

As usual, we get some of the drama in Jane’s life – her mother’s life is in turmoil, and Jane is doing her best to support her. Maura Isles has gotten some disturbing letters regarding her mother, who is in prison. Somehow I managed to read #12, I Know a Secret , before reading this one, so I know how these issues work out. It would have been nice to have had more of Gabriel in this story, but we do get to see a little of him when he travels with Jane to Africa to talk to the safari survivor. I enjoyed that part of the story, actually, but for the most part, I did not care for the safari arc much. I was not expecting the twists at the end, however.

Overall, this was not one of my favorites in the series, but I still love Rizzoli and Isles.

The excitement was tangible from the small group of people on safari in Africa. A first for the city people; Botswana was touted as the last really wild place on earth – the website they had booked their seven day safari from had been enticing. For Millie though, she had only accompanied boyfriend Richard because it was his dream – having been a couple for a few years now, Millie was used to the sacrifices she made for Richard; what was one more? But Millie was finding it difficult to enjoy the experience and when they were only a couple of days into the trip, things began to go very wrong; she wondered if they would even survive…

Six years later, in the city of Boston, Detective Jane Rizzoli and forensic pathologist Maura Isles were called to the home of a man whose profession was to stuff and mount wild animals – his walls were covered with the heads of African animals much to the disgust of those in attendance. But the horror of what they had found – a man hanging in his home with terrible injuries – then another body shortly afterwards, made Rizzoli realise there could well be a serial killer on their hands, and a particularly gruesome one at that.

As the intense investigation gained momentum, Rizzoli discovered unsolved murders in other states; other countries – were they all the work of the “safari killer”? They were markedly similar. But no-one else believed her theory, least of all Detective Crowe – and ignoring him was what she did best. With so many victims never having been seen again, Rizzoli felt the need to contact the one survivor who had made it out alive! Would that person be able to shed light on the horrors of the past, and save the lives of people in the future? Was it even fair to make her die again!

Tess Gerritsen has done it again! Wow, totally breathtaking! Suspenseful, gripping and full of tension, Die Again lived up to my expectations. I have no hesitation in recommending this one extremely highly. Loved it!

A great page turner. The gutting and murder of a hunter leads Jane and Maura to an investigation which overlaps with murders in Botswana. I liked the flipping back and forth between Botswana and Boston. The safari that went wrong and the murders in the US. The big cat theme with Leopards, cougars and a Bengal tiger was fascinating and their behavior.

The twist at the end was good. An enjoyable read and a page turner. I did wonder about the motive of the murderer for the original murders. The current ones was obviously to protect his identity. I liked this story because it made sense to why Rhodes wanted to eliminate Millie the sole survivor from Botswana. She could identify him.

Maybe its because it has been a while since I read these books, but while it was a good mystery I didn't find it to be anything special, thus the middle of the road three stars.

Rizzoli and Isles are back, this time trying to catch the killer of a taxidermist, strung up and gutted much like a hunter would kill his prey. When they find more deaths of a similar nature, Rizzoli follows the trail to Africa, where one woman may be the key to find the killer.

This like many of the other books was a quick read for me, and I really enjoy that Gerritsen mixes in legends and myths to create a great story, but I had solved it early on, and parts of it were predictable in that it is repeated in many of her books. Sometimes I wanted to shake the characters because they were missing details that were vital.

The characters are really well developed as in previous novels, and I did enjoy how the story was gradually revealed, just enough to keep me turning pages.

All in all a great read if you love murder mysteries, but nothing groundbreaking.

I have to thank Net Galley for the forward copy of the latest Rizzoli & Isles book by Tess Gerritsen.
I have enjoyed this series for a while and after a long wait for the next in the series it was like saying hello to an old friend, This series is so well written with strong characters that develop with every book as you learn more about them. The book does work as a stand alone novel but if you read the series from the start you will get more out of the novels. These books are so much more than mystery novels with the character relationships and sub plots they make excellent reading and only wish there were more of them.

OH Tess! you are truly a genius. another wonderful master piece by the genre's shiniest star! oh how I love this woman's work.
this book reminded me rather unpleasantly of a recent incident. I went to visit a distant relative, a decent god fearing guy and what do I see in there drawing room...... animals poor, beautiful, majestic, STUFFED animals. lions and deer and even a leopard!!!!! imagine and endangered animal that he boasted about killing himself. I had a meltdown of epic proportions and I doubt I will be welcomed there again.
why would anyone do that?why why why? I ask you! yes we were hunters and gatherers once.but that was the PAST! we also lived in caves and wore leaves and skins but I don't see these macho men go and do these things. stalking and killing an animal , while you have guns and fast moving vehicles just for SPORT isn't hunting it's MURDER!!!!!!!
OK! rent over. now about the story what can I say Tess's fans have waited a long time for this one and to my way of thinking it was worth it. the setting, the characters the MOOD of the story were amazing specially the chapters set in Botswana. I felt as if I was there seeing the savanna through millie's eyes and living her fears with her.
also Jane and maura's evolving friendship is wonderful to read about the way this relationship has evolved is amazingly real! this is exactly how true friendship bonds are forged. but when it comes to relationships I have a small complaint. I love dean and would really like a little more Jane and Dean time.
as for angela I hope she kicks out the a**holes franks both senior and junior.
all in all this book is solid gold would highly recommend for anyone who prefer their thrillers fast paced, smart and gory.
this is going straight to my all time favorites list.

Madeira holiday book 5.

I note that I read my one and only previous book by this author in 2016 and enjoyed it. But didn’t add reviews then.

This was a clever story with twists and meanders. Starting in Botswana and ending in Boston. Piecing together the identity of a serial killer assuming his victims identities. The Leopard Man. The characters of Detective Jane Rizzoli, her FBI husband and Forensic Pathologist Maura Isles gel together well.

A damn good holiday read. Flying home tomorrow but will start another book today as we walk, chill and eat our way through Funchal.

Uncorrected Proof copy - not for sale it says on the cover of my trade paperback copy of this book. Also NOT FOR SALE, which is nice as I did buy it nonetheless.

A new Rizzoli & Isles to start the reading year with, is kind of great as it does set the standard for the thrillers I want to read this year. The book is a solid 4 star thriller, it gets one star taken away because my usually not so suspicious mind did guess the outcome of the book and the identity of the killer way too soon. Either I get better at detecting or Gerritsen made an oopsie in that aspect. That said the book earns another half point for returning to the theme of the first two book sin which Jane Rizzoli had some serious problems to overcome and grow as a police woman & human. The growing in this book is this time not done by the policewoman or pathologist. In fact their interaction shows some more depth and at the same time a kind of soap development that fits the tv show more than the books. Mostly because the soap element is not finished off in this installment of the book. It actually sets up the story line for the next novel as well involving Maura & her mum.

The story in the book however is very well done in a way the TV show will never be done, which is a positive as I like both but enjoy their difference as well. The story starts in Botswana when a safari goes wrong and Rizzoli & Isles get involved when they find a taxidermist strung up in his home like a killed animal. We the reader know about the two separate incidents and Gerritsen does manoeuvres quite skillful towards the moment the stories finally meet and from that moment you do not want to lay the book down until the story is finished.

Another tour-de-force by Gerritsen which only leaves you behind with a taste for more especially as this book feels like it was written to be part of an ongoing series. I am waiting with a grand anticipation myself.

Well worth your reading time.

Die Again is the eleventh book in the Rizzoli and Isles series by popular American author, Tess Gerristen. A bizarre murder bearing all the hallmarks of a game hunter has Rizzoli and Isles visiting the Suffolk Zoo and learning about large cats. A seemingly unrelated body dug up in a garden sees Maura taking an uncharacteristic stance, just on a hunch, to insist the murders are related. Before long, other cold cases are examined for similarities, and a link to a Botswana safari gone horribly wrong is established. Can the lone survivor of that massacre help Boston PD bring a murderer to justice?

Gerritsen uses the first-person voice of Millie Jacobson to relate the horrific events of the Bostwana safari while the Boston events are narrated in the third person from the perspective of Rizzoli or Isles. As always, Rizzoli’s family dramas provide lighter moments in a story that is fast-paced and exciting. Gerritsen manages to include plenty of facts about large cats, hair analysis and game hunting in easily digestible chunks. The plot has plenty of twists that will keep the reader guessing to the end. And Jane’s visit to Africa is completely credible, unlike the African foray on which James Patterson sends Alex Cross in Cross Country. This is another gripping page-turner, and Gerritsen fans will not be disappointed.

3.5 Stars!

Die Again is book 11 in The Rizzoli and Isles series. It hard to review a book this deep into the series. I will say that it was just as twisty and fun as the other books. But the one downside to this book is that there were just too many characters. The book is split between 2 storylines one with Rizzoli and Isles in Boston and the other in Botswana. It was alot of people to keep straight. That's more of a me thing and it might not bother you.

I still had fun reading this and I'm excited to read the next book in the series.

Tess Gerritsen dishes up another entertaining Rizzoli & Isles thriller, which alternates between Boston & Botswana & involves big game hunters & a new take on a serial killer story. There are great characters, good twists & the usual gore you expect from Gerritsen. What more could you ask for ?

Rizzoli & isles DIE AGAIN is a fast paced police procedural novel set in Boston and Botswana. When a famed taxidermist and big game hunter is found strung up like a deer in his garage, Jane Rizzoli and her partner Frost get the case. A second body only slightly connected to the first victim is soon found and it is up to Maura Isles to make the tenuous connection.
The track of the killer is very dim, the only connection between the two being a phone call on the day they both died and the son of the hunter, boyfriend to the second corpse, who disappeared on a safari six years earlier.
The novel leaps between the action of the past and the hunt of today as time winds down for the sole survivor of that fateful trek into the heart of Africa.
Inventive, paced like a charging leopard, dangerous as all get-out, DIE AGAIN will have readers racing through the pages in the rush for closure. Tess Gerritsen has written a cop book that takes the story to a new level of terror and imposing doom. The only problem I have with it is that now I will have to go back and read the prior novels. If they are as good as this I can fully understand why Ms. Gerritsen has the loyal reading following she has.
I won this book through Goodreads.

SUMMARY (50 words or less)
I normally don’t read series out of order. However, this book was an audible daily deal I picked up. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I especially loved how it was told back in forth between the past and the present.

Audio Review
Tanya Eby does a fantastic job with the narration. However, the female voices started to blend especially in the present portion of the story.
