4 stars. This was such a great resource! I love the author’s opening remarks about paradoxical, 3-dimensional, realistic characters. The traits are listed alphabetically, with their likely or obvious characteristics and similar traits; and at the end there’s a list of the traits that are opposite to each other. I’d point out that there are some stereotypes given for a lot of the traits and writers should keep in mind that sometimes people can have a trait but exhibit it in very unstereotypical or even usual ways. But overall, a fantastic work by the author and a very useful book for writers.

If you need help finding an outline of a character then this book is great. It helped me get some basic ideas of how I wanted certain characters to be. It also gives you some good advice on how to bring a character to life.
This is an excellent resource to peruse when you want to show just the right character trait. I found each of her other resource books to be well organized and very useful. I recommend them!
