Jinwoo faces off against the Monarchs for the first time, and while he’s undeniably the strongest hunter in the world, three otherworldly beings prove to be too much for him! But as Jinwoo is about to find out, death means little to the Shadow Monarch, King of the Dead. As Jinwoo Sung finally confronts the true source of his newfound powers, in the real world, a person thought to be lost forever steps in to defend his son’s defenseless body!
Please tell him to be careful of the powers within him.
Again i will hide the review, because this didn't get collected in English volumes yet, which is what most of my friends are reading. I read many events in this one like a freaking Oracle, but not really, you don't need to be an oracle to figure out stuff that is going to happen in this series. Sung jinwoo is supposed to go back to the double dungeon. It will be great if we get a proper fight between him and the joker god. Also the mysterious characters are monarchs of different elements, and they refer to sung as the monarch of shadows. I just hope he is not possessed but rather, acquired the monarch's ability after the monarch died. Will we get the classic fight your own shadow which is as strong as you battle? Cha hae-in is Soo cute, and so powerful, beating Igris at his level is not a small feat. Beru is fucking deadly, Sung shouldn't make him fight humans again if his instincts will get the best of him like that. I expected all events about the school Gate Break, except that i forgot that Jinah had 3 guards not one and that it seems that Stupid Sung didn't train them like the rest of his armies, if they were trained to a high level or even awakened to the next rank, they would have been able to take on that boss easy. His powers of necromancy are recognized by the highest lvl of skeletons, and their leader says that he can speak directly with him, does he contain the real king of shadow within him, or does he only have his power after he died, that is the big question, that will probably be answered the next 10 chapters

Having just finished the novels that this manhwa is based on, I can definitively tell you that meaningful parts of the story have either been left out or brushed over. I wish I read this before I finished the novels because I know I would have enjoyed it more. 😔 I liked the way that the illustrator used the different people that Jinwoo knew to tell the backstory of the war between the Rulers and Monarchs, but other than that the emotional impact of pretty much everything that happens in this volume is, imo, lacking, and that's saying something because this was an emotional volume. Up until this volume, I thought the manhwa did a great job adapting the original story. This just felt rushed. If you're interested, check out books VII and VIII of the novels. All of the important plot points are present in the manhwa, but the books do a much better job of telling the story. 2.5 stars, rounded up
I am in a state of shock rn. WTF HAPPENED IN THIS VOLUME. WTF WTF WTF. FROM SUNG JINWOOS DEATH TO ASHBORNS BACKSTORY TO THE TRUTH ABOUT THE MONARCHS VS RULERS BEING BECAUSE OF THE ABSOLUTE BEING SEEING IT AS AMUSEMENT TO THE GATES OPENING BECAUSE OF THE RULERS REALISED AFTER USING THEIR TIME RESETTING CUP THAT HUMANS AND EARTH COULD NOT WITHSTAND THE IMMINENT WAR AND BASICALLY CHOOSING TO GIVE MAGICAL ENERGY TO SOME HUMANS (THE HUNTERS) FOR THEM TO HAVE THE CHANCE TO LIVE AFTER THE WAR (VERY THANOS LIKE THINKING) TO JINWOO WAKING UP TO AFTER THE DOUBLE DUNGEON TO ASHBORN GROWING FOND OF JINWOO AND BASICALLY GIVING UP HIS LIFE FOR JINWOO TO RESURRECT😭😭😭 TO JINWOO BEING THE GREATEST FRAGMENT OF BRILLIANT LIGHT! This volume almost had me in tears. Jinwoos dad😭😭 and ashborns sacrifice 😭😭. I am so scared for next volume P.s. THAT NEW SHADOW BELLION IS SUPER COOL
I have been repeating myself, so once again, this is my third re-read of the series, and I am reading them so regularly that the English editions of the later volumes haven't been released yet. Ah, well, maybe they will be done by my 5th or 6th re-read.
Jin-woo becomes a literal God, and now we are going full steam ahead to the end. I loved this series and reading this for the second time in the same year, and now let's go and finish the series once again, and now let's Keep on Reading.
I have always loved comics, and I have I can. I love comics to bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more. You should also read what you love and hope always to love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics, Diamond Comics, or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I just want to Keep on Reading.
”This is death… a deep darkness that even we, who were created in the dark, long for—a brilliant darkness.” Starting with a bam!, volume 12’s fighting scenes with the monarchs; is it the end of the world? Jinwoo is in for a surprise in this one. This one kept me on the edge of my seat: it was great, it was wonderful, I can't wait to read the final big battle in the next volume. I need it ASAP! Happy reading!♥️
What? There are only two volumes left after this? Time for a volume of exposition to get us set up for the finale.
Turns out the mythology back story is very biblical with angelic hordes battling as some rebel against the supreme being. We even get a little messianic action going before its all over.
I usually dislike this kind of info dump, but frankly it was nice to finally know what's going on this this series, even if it is kind of cheesy. And it all nested quite well in the middle of a big, bombastic battle with all sorts of cool moments.
Bring on the final boss!

up to chapter 173 (end of main story) + epilogue in a faceoff with the other monarchs, Jinwoo succumbs to his critical injuries and ends up in an illusionary world created by his subconscious where he meets the previous shadow monarch who shows Jinwoo the history of the war between monarchs and rulers as well as the history of war on earth and the ordeal awaiting Jinwoo in the real world. Jinwoo returns to the real armed with the full extent of the shadow monarch's powers and army as hunters all over the world prepare for the final battle with the king of dragons Antares.
spoilers ahead regarding the ending and epilogue Avengers Endgame ahh resolution... and just like with Marvel, it all went downhill from there. whatever happened to the good ol' recovering from destruction and rebuilding strong after war?? but no!! they have to time travel or regress a decade to fix everything. and that too after he's already won the war. because, now listen to this shitass reason (I've lost too many people in this war and I wanna save them all... like barff) and now they just up and undo the last 175+ chapters that a reader has gone through and fixes everything. I don't even wanna waste my breath anymore... the story wasn't memorable, and the side characters were boring or unexplored. apparently even the writer thinks that their story is so unmemorable and insignificant that they can undo all of it in the last 2 chapters where the MMC alone can fix everything (it takes him 30 years but don't worry, he's immortal now, so barely a dent in his ''normal'' life which he can enjoy now cause he's running around playing god). logical plot progression went out the window and it just looks like fan service moments of Jinwoo in high school, meeting his dead friends, and dating. should've left the main story alone and release these chapters not as an epilogue but as an AU (alternate universe) or smth. left a bad taste in my mouth.
When Beru was yelling for everyone to wake up and help jinwoo that scene gave me so many emotions he's such a great shadow he's like a child the way it was jinwoo who got hurt but he felt the pain🥺
Plus BERU CALLING THE MONARCH OF INSECTS A WENCH. iconic 🤣. I thought I was a big jinwoo simp but I'm nothing compare to this cutie.
"I feel like the absolute being was helping neither side to maintain a balance- kinda like light cannot exist without darkness and vice versa. If you think about it, he had created both the monarchs and the messengers so basically his children were fighting among themselves, he probably couldn't take sides. Also, the whole war and conflict was because of the inherent differences between light and darkness, they couldn't help but oppose each other. They needed a reason to fight and the made the absolute being their reason. Did the Dude ask you to fight for his honor or whatever? He was just a silent spectator throughout. The struggle between light and dark is unending- I feel like if he took sides the balance would be destroyed or something..." These words are borrowed from another person, and i agree with this...
I cried when I saw old man previous chairman.
And all this time jinwoo was playing with a restrictions and now he's finally the Monarch of shadows? DAMN!! How much more strong he'd be now.
Beru moi baby cutie pie... idk why but the scene where he asked jinwoo for a permission to have a match with bellion make me smile. He doesn't want anyone else to be so close to jinwoo than him and other shadows asking for special place as well can't believe these cuties are freaking monstrous level in fighting.🤭
Now that Jinwoo's on god-level let's see what happens next. The scene where all the shadow army of previous shadow monarch emerges from the gate DAMN it gave me goosebumps all over I can't wait for it to get animated.

The day the Shadow Monarch's rage shook the Heavens and Earth. That was the day the war truly began.
to tell the truth..this Volume was a bit of an anti climax from the last one. Some convoluted explanations threw me...not a good time for that to be happening as we enter the Final battle phase.
The final volume is almost here. And, oh, what a frantic sprint toward the finale this volume turned out to be.
We finally peel back the layers on why Jinwoo was shaped into what he is now. The revelations were compelling enough, yet something about the emotional beats, especially the reunion, felt oddly muted. Crucial story moments were glazed over and the emotional payoff was hollow to me. I wish the execution was a bit better.
I found myself thoroughly entertained by Beru and Tusk: Beru, whose unwavering loyalty is matched only by his flair for melodrama, and Tusk, who seizes every opportunity to grandstand like a magician determined not to be overlooked (… and that thumbs up. LOL)
Now, with the war just getting underway, I'm admittedly skeptical about how neatly the next volume can wrap everything up. But I'll stay cautiously optimistic to see how Jinwoo and company will manage this final, chaotic showdown.
I've seen the complaint and I know it's not perfect (redundant, not very fleshed out etc) but to be honest I think it's still the best in this category of manhwa; The artwork is amazing and the fight scenes etc very great! It kept me engaged throughout and I haven't slept much whilst reading this. I have to agree to some of the critics, hence my rating but I'm a big fan of Solo leveling. I don't think the light novel is better, the anime is lacking to me and so I find the manhwa/graphic novel to be the best of format for this story; well done !
Absolutely crazy! I'm not gonna lie, I'm super confused, but I'm just riding with it, and it's definitely one hell of an epic journey, though I still feel conflicted about the direction of the story and all the Monarch stuff. This manhwa has me shook at times, it's going to be amazing when this arc is animated! This volume had some sad moments, and left on one hell of a cliffhanger, I guess this really is the final battle...
As always, I read this book in one sitting, there is no other option when it comes to Solo Leveling. This book drops some CRAZY lore. I really liked it. The books lately have been dropping crazy lore.
Watching them animate this is going to be so wild.
